I had a dream last night that I was in The Thing, but the storyline was quite a bit different.

For some reason when the Kennel-Thing wreaked havoc on the dogs, everyone else was oblivious except for Clark, who stood frozen in horror as all the dogs were assimilated. And the assimilated dogs turned into zombie dogs??? Which all mauled Clark.

MacReady, Windows, and myself (we were all BFFs) discovered his remains with the zombie alien dogs. We already had a flamethrower on hand so we torched them and somehow knew that the one dog was an alien creature that could infect other life forms and assimilate them. However, it was conveniently already missing and lurking somewhere around the outpost. Our logic was to keep what we knew on the DL to not cause mass panic (??????)

We tested each other, and I remember being really nervous. MacReady and Windows were fine, but I didn't know if I was infected myself. I apologized profusely if I ended up being a Thing, and told them I wish we could have spent more time together as friends. I was scared that I was going to become something like a Palmer-Thing and maul Windows.

I turned out to not be infected and was quite relieved. Then we went on to hunt down the original Kennel-Thing before it could infect anyone else. But this was unresolved as I woke up before the ending.
