Mama kitty is starting to trust us more, and she let us replace the towel in her nesting box today. It had gotten dirty with tiny kitten goop (and 💩). She was nervous when we moved her kittens, and kept trying to carry them back into the box at first, but it was a quick change and once they were all back and settled nicely she was happy again. I got a call today about a mama cat who was brought into @mckameycenter with her litter of five kittens who are just a couple days old. They came in healthy, so the goal was to get them into a foster home ASAP and keep them that way. . It’s been about a year since we’ve had a mama cat and her babies here (shout out to Lillian, aka Mama of the Year), so I was excited that we are able to help this little crew. They’ll be living in our master bathroom for the next month or so, until everyone’s ready to be weaned, vaccinated, fixed and then adopted out. Expect lots of kitten content here and over at @chattanoogaferalcatalliance over the next several weeks. Almost a month ago, I trapped these kittens at a neighbor’s house after TNRing their mama. They were scared and mad, but after several weeks of TLC from us and some mothering by Lillian, they are tamed, happy and ready for new homes! They went into McKamey today for their second round of shots, and once they’re spayed and neutered they’ll be up for adoption. Good luck, Leo, Theo and Geo! This pretty lady (Geo) is probably the softest cat I’ve ever pet. Her fur is like cotton candy, except not sticky or edible. She is a cuddler, and will be heading back to McKamey with her siblings (Theo and Leo) on Thursday. The kittens were scared of this tunnel until Lillian taught them to play in it. They’ve come a long way from being feral, and will be going into McKamey Thursday to get spayed/neutered and their next round of shots. I left the room for five minutes and the kittens left their crate! Geo here found the towel shelf and posted up. These four little beasts went to @mckameycenter this morning to get their first round of shots, de-wormer, and were tested for FELV (negative!). They’re now officially in the foster program, and we’re officially their fosters for two and a half weeks. They’re healthy, so the goal is straight-up socialization.
