“Why can’t I ever come with you?” You groan, looking up at the ceiling from your position on the bed.
You heard Frank scoff in response and you lifted your back off the bed so that you could sit up on your elbows.
“It’s not some vacation.” He lectures you, back remaining turned as he types into his laptop. It’s your turn to scoff now, turning your head to look at the duffel bag in the corner of the room that was filled with Franks clothes- sure looked like a vacation. Spinning in his little wheely chair, he gives you a serious (but very obviously joking look), “These are dangerous, low profile missions.” He jokes sternly and you roll your eyes, “I don’t want you hurt.”
“You hurt me by leaving me here.” You huff, fiddling with your fingers. You were definitely exaggerating, but not really. You were sad when he left.
“Don’t do that.” He groans, slumping in his chair.
Standing from the bed, you step closer to him, “Remember when you left me for like two months?” You ask, stopping in your tracks once you come between his manspread legs, climbing into his lap, “And we had phone sex like every week and you came back with that god-awful beard.” Your hand softly grips his jaw and he just smiles up at you cockily.
“You loved the phone sex and the beard.” He tells you matter of factly and you can’t hold back the smile at the twinkle in his eye. You’re both thinking about the week he’d come back with that beard… and all the things he did with it.
“Yeah, I did.” You crack, sitting in his lap properly now. “But if you can take David with you, how dangerous can it really be?” You ask as he spins the chair back around to continue whatever it is he’s doing on his laptop.
“I can bare looking at David get hurt.” He laughs softly. “If you get hurt-“
“I’m a big girl.” You pout, “Why don’t you teach me self defence then if you’re so worried?”
“Can’t really defend yourself when it comes to bullets and bombs.”
Huffing, you take over control of his laptop, switching screens and clicking on the photo booth icon, “Whatta ya doin’?”
“How have you never taken a single photo?” You ask, looking baffled at his empty photo booth roll.
“I didn’t even know you could take photos on this thing.” He shrugs, while you take a bunch of photos with the heart and bird filters.
You make a mental note to set one of the pictures as his home screen on his laptop one day when he’s not looking.
As you kiss him for one photo, smiling at how it turned out, you hover the mouse over the ‘video’ function of the app.
“You take this with you when you leave, right?”
“Yeah, why?”
“It takes videos as well.” You tell him suggestively, but your eyes said it all, averting your gaze to his lips and subconsciously tickling your fingers against his neck.
“Oh, really?” He asks teasingly, bringing his arms tighter around your waist to pull your body closer against his.
“Mhmm,” You hum, clicking the video icon and hearing the self timer count down 3 beeps before it starts recording.
By the time it has started recording, your tongue is already being shoved down Franks throat. Not really.
Sliding your hands down to his chest, you rub your thumb over his toned muscle underneath his shirt, moaning at his pebbled abs you’ve had more than a few rides on.
Unless he fucks you in the morning before he leaves (which is probably likely) this will be the last night he fucks you before he goes off on whatever shit he needs to go do.
Night sex is always the best. Plus it’s being recorded so better give him something good to remember you by while he’s gone. Not that he’d ever forget you.
One of his hands comes up to palm at your tits momentarily before sliding up your neck, grasping your jaw softly as he takes over the kiss.
There are several moments where the make out quickly becomes very heated and fast paced- mostly spurred on by you and Frank has to ground you and set the pace back to normal. He likes it though- deep down. He loves seeing how eager and needy you get.
Simultaneously grinding your hips against his own, you find a familiar poking under your ass and you whine into his mouth at the desperation.
You both finally pull away from the kiss for some much-needed air in which you rest your foreheads against one another and take in as much oxygen as you both can.
Your hands slide further down from his chest to the waistband of his pants and you feel him tense up and harden underneath you. Lifting your hips a little so that you can get easier access, your hand slips past the band and into his boxers, pulling out his dick and exposing it to the outside.
You softly gasp when you see the familiar friend, warm and firm in your hand- slightly leaking. Frank kisses your cheek, jaw and neck mindlessly as you spread his pre-cum over the head of his cock with your thumb.
Removing your hand for a few seconds, you quickly spit into your palm before wrapping your hand back around his thick cock and lubricating it with ease. Your hand slides up and down his shaft much more slick now and the noise it exudes is absolutely filthy. You love it.
Frank groans beneath you as you begin a slow pace of stroking his cock, rubbing your thumb over the head every time you reach it. Looking up at him, you pull your lip between your teeth and smile up at him. You love the face he makes when you get him like this. The way he grips onto the chair, the way his toes curl. You kinda like knowing the power you have over him.
Kissing his exposed jaw form how his head is thrown back slightly, you kiss down his neck- still continuous in your hand movements as you lower your entire body now until your kneeling on the floor in front of him.
His gaze flicks down at you quickly before looking over at his laptop. Scooting it closer to the edge of the desk and nudging the lid down a little, you smile up at him getting a better angle.
Locking eye contact with him, you slap the head of his cock against your plump lips, kissing it softly in the process. With your hand at the base, you hold the cock in front of you and admire every inch, in particular the thick vein that’s twists around the side and front.
Lowering your head just a tiny bit now, you swallow thickly before running your tongue along the entirety of the vein, all the way until it reaches the tip and you close your mouth around his head.
He sucks in a harsh breath and you moan, the vibrations running through the rest of his length, making him shut his eyes briefly. His hands almost immediately find their way to your hair.
With his dick in your mouth, you flick your tongue over the tip before lowering as far as your throat will take you. You gag and internally frown that you can’t fit him all the way. Pulling away, you make sure to leave as much spit as possible, the thick substance dripping off his cock as you remove your mouth to swallow a breath.
“Such a pretty fucking mouth.” He swipes your bottom lip with his thumb and you kitten lick it before he can take it away. Frank could’ve sworn his life flashed before his eyes in that moment.
Smiling softly at his shocked expression, you wrap your lips back around his cock and hollow your cheeks, sucking up every drop of saliva you’d left along the way.
You moaned around him once he was clean and began a languid bob of your head as you took him in as far as you could each time.
Batting your eyelashes up at him, you doed your eyes the way he loved to set him over the edge quicker as you fondled with his balls.
“Fuck,” He grunts, eyes screwing shut, “Won’t last long if you keep doin’ that.”
You just smile with his cock still in your mouth and Frank has to do a double take on his laptop to make sure it caught that. Yeah, he’s gonna be replaying that one.
You bob your head faster now, running your hand along what you can’t fit in your mouth. Procuring more and more saliva, your blows become much sloppy and Frank twitches in your mouth at the sensation.
His fingers grip your hair tightly before loosening and more so guiding your head further down. You gag around him and retreat back to the head where you focus your attention with the tip of your tongue.
You kitten lick the small indent, jerking the whole of his cock with your hand at a faster pace than your mouth could.
He arches his back of the chair, thighs tensing underneath your chest before he groans and cums down your throat.
You jump slightly as the warm and salty substance hits the back of your throat, but you take every last drop before sucking him clean and swallowing.
You bat your eyelashes at him yet again as he softly grabs your bicep and pulls you up towards his lap. You sit between his legs, resting your knee on the chair as he firmly grips your jaw and brings your lips to his.
As you engage in the kiss, he makes quick work in removing your PJ shorts. The savage he is, he would’ve torn them in two for easier and faster access, but he’s already gotten quite the earful and discipline from those actions.
You manoeuvre your hips and legs so that he can slide the thin fabric off and once you’re left in your thong, he snaps the elastic band against your skin- making you bite his bottom lip in immediate retaliation.
“Play nice.” You warn jokingly.
He just scoffs, kissing your jaw with his hands coming to remove your top. When he sees that you’re wearing no bra, he almost goes feral at the way your tits so openly greet him.
“So perfect,” He compliments, hands immediately coming up to grope at the two girls. You throw your head back with a soft laugh as he buries his face between them before sucking the small buds into his mouth.
You look back at the laptop and adjust the position so as to get a better angle and you can’t lie- your ass looks great.
You moan as he flicks his tongue over your nipple and rub your fingers through his short strands.
He just smiles up at you before remembering his exposed cock. Looking down, it’s hard, red and still leaking from before.
Removing himself and his attention away from your tits, he grabs the base of his cock and grips onto your waist tighter. You quickly shed yourself from your panties before moving your leg to hover over his sprung cock bow directly beneath your heat.
You brace yourself on his shoulders and gasp when he slaps the head against your entrance, rubbing it through your slick folds before finally pushing himself in.
You bury your face in his neck and suck harshly at the skin. “Oh, God. Frankie-“
“So fuckin’ tight.” He groans, both stilling for a moment as he lets you adjust to the size and he adjusts to the tightness.
You breathe heavily, trying not to clench around him so as to not murder him entirely right this second.
“Y’ready?” He asks, tapping your ass softly and you nod weakly with a small ‘mhmm’.
He slowly guides your ass up his cock until his head almost slips out- then he slams you back down. You moan loudly, nails digging into his shoulder as he continues the same motion.
You can’t help but clench around him the second time your cunt takes him all the way- your orgasm already fast approaching.
You’re a whimpering mess as you attempt to contribute some kind of movement, bouncing your hips along with his thrusts. The sound of slapping skin is absolutely feral and you feel sorry for David in this moment. Eh- he’s probably at the other side of the loft and watching some action movie on high volume.
“Fuck, Frank!” You whine, your clit rubbing against his pelvis every time he brings you down.
Biting your bottom lip, you bring your hand down to rub at your clit while his cock hits deep inside you. It repeatedly hits that soft spot inside you that you know is soon to send you over the edge.
“So fuckin’ pretty like this,” He mumbles against your tit, “Bouncing on my cock.”
You just whimper in response, too blissed to form any words at this point.
With his hands on your ass he harshly slaps your right cheek before squeezing the flesh. You gasp at the sensation it provides while you continue to fuck yourself in his dick.
“Pl-pleas-“ You try and speak but it’s a piss poor attempt.
Your knees burn and ache and you just need Frank to take over and destroy your pussy. But knowing Frank like the back of your hand, it’s gonna take some begging.
“Whas’that?” He asks, a small cocky smile forming on his lips, “Didn’t quite catch that, sweetheart.”
“Pl-“ You whine, resting your head on his shoulder and screwing your eyes shut as your thrusts are forced to resort to a slower- painful pace.
“Gonna have to speak a little bit louder, honey.”
“Please, fuck me!” You finally gasp breathlessly. “I can’t- tired.”
“Awe,” He pouts mockingly, “Well, guess I better take care of my girl, then.”
With his large hands practically engulfing your ass, he so easily lifts you up off his cock before fucking you back down on it.
The wind is knocked out of your lungs as he fucks you fast, hard and deep. You can hardly continue rubbing your hand over your clit, you’re so whipped.
“C’mon, pretty girl, you can take it,” He encourages, taking your tit back in his mouth while he fucks you in his cock. You cry out and unwillingly clench around him, causing Frank to softly graze his teeth over your nipple. “Fuck, I’ll cum if you do that again.”
The coil in your stomach quickly unfurls and you rub your clit harder to meet your orgasm.
Your body goes limp as you cum around his cock, pussy spasming and clenching around him uncontrollably as your slick gushes over his length.
True to his word, he grunts and cums deep inside you almost instantly.
“Oh, fuck,” He moans, stilling your hips.
You both watch as your mixed cum leaks out of your cunt, down his cock and you gasp at how filthy it is.
Nevertheless, you bring a finger down and swipe up the mixture and bring it to your lips.
Frank just stares at you dumbstruck while you suck your finger into your mouth. You turn your head a look directly into the camera, a gift for future Frank.
That’s when Frank remembers the laptop in front of you and ends the recording with a hearty laugh. “I’m looking forward to rewatching that.”
“For your eyes only.” You warn, cock still inside you, but you’re both contempt in just staying like that for the time being. “Well, how lonely does David get?”
Frank glares at you, seriously and sternly, “He’s got his magazines, he’s covered.”
Smiling at how jealous and protective he gets, you joke, “I don’t know, I doubt those pictures do it justice.”
“Well, then I’ll let him buy porn on the TV in the hotel.” He says bluntly, shutting his laptop, “I’m keeping you all to myself.”

fratboy!harry - part 3
thanks for all the love so far guys!! get over to my ask box and request any kinda blurb from this college world i’m living in or any questions you’ve got either!
fratboy!harry tag >> story page
Tumblr media
First week of classes and you already felt like dropping out. When you got here to your second year of uni, you were excited but now you were trying your hardest to write out even a page of notes during this lecture. Scribbling down another point from your professor, you blink a few times at your page and try to comprehend what you wrote. After a moment, you shake your head and look back up to the front.
Only a few minutes pass by, and one more point is written on your notebook, when your phone lights up beside you. It’s a notification from Snapchat, from a certain someone who can’t seem to leave you alone these days it seems. You bite down on your bottom lip to quit from smiling at Harrys name - which of course he added an angel emoji after, makes total sense since he’s the furthest thing from an angel.
Snaps from Harry consisted of a few things. Sometimes they were selfies - both hot as hell or making stupid faces. Other times it’s artistic, using the pen tool in any colour to make a masterpiece that makes you laugh every time. As you tap your screen, you find out it’s the latter of the two predictions your had.
Harry too was in his morning lecture, sitting rather close - which you know wouldn’t have been his choice. His professor is an older man wearing glasses and dressed in pants just a little too high, he’s reaching to write on the white board to finish an equation. Harry snapped the picture and coloured away on it. Having a stick figure grasping the prof from behind, seagulls above him, and Harry draws a big white boat for the prof to stand on with ‘TITANIC’ on the side. The caption read ‘I’ll never let go Jack’, and Harry had you chuckling in the back of your class yet again.
You double tap his name and get the front facing camera, rolling your eyes and hitting the screen to take a photo. After putting a filter over it and typing out ‘Forever shipping them’ - pun intended - you set down your phone and look back to your professor. You’re not completely surprised when Harry responds rather quickly.
“Hey,” a voice whispers from beside you. You look up and see a bright white toothy smile from the boy sitting beside you. “Did you need notes from today?” He asks, it’s a nice gesture considering you barely had any from the whole lesson today.
“Uh, yeah,” you nod while looking over at his Macbook, full of notes it seems, “that’d be really great actually,”
“I could email them to you, if you’d like? I just noticed you were kinda out of it today,” he gives you another smile while clicking a few times to share his notes from today.
As you type out your email in his laptop, he’s watching you - you could just tell. Once you put in your info, you lean back in your seat and take your turn to watch him. He’s cute, short brown hair, brown eyes, great arms, definitely a football player if you were to take a guess. As an email notification comes on your phone, you get the name of the stranger beside you.
“Thanks, James,” you say with a smile.
“No problem, Y/N,” he says.
He’s about to talk more to you when your professor raises their voice to remind the class about the assignment due at the end of the week - which was two days away. You shut your eyes and tilt your head back, knowing very well you hadn’t even started the assignment. Looks like you were about to pull another late night.
Class ends and you sit back in your chair while getting your things together. You can see James taking his time beside you. Everything inside of you was hoping he wasn’t about to stick around and flirt your ear off. Thankfully, god was on your side today, and James simply threw his backpack on.
“See you around,” James says.
“Yeah, thanks again for your notes,” you smile and give him a quick wave before he walks off.
As you’re walking out of the lecture room you open Harry’s snap. This time it’s a selfie, the angle working well for his jawline of course, with the caption reading ‘Punny one’. You snap a blurry selfie of you smiling and respond ‘Thanks I’ll be here all week’ before making your way to the closest coffee shop - Starbucks near the main doors of the building.
It was only 10:30 and you were going to need a venti size iced coffee to survive your next and final class for today. So with your coffee in hand, you scroll around on your phone and walk across campus to your next lecture hall. The sun’s shining high in the clear blue sky, the heat getting to you as you get only half way to your class. You unzip your sweater and set down your backpack on the ground to slip out of your sweater, tying it around your waist.
Once you’re back on your way, you get another snap from Harry. The snap is blurry, but you know who it’s of - zoomed in as you fix your hair after tying your sweater at your hips. It was a good picture, flattering of your body honestly. Harry’s artistic skills are flames around you this time.
“Creep,” you mumble to yourself before sending a snap - eyes rolling and swiping a filter on.
Thank god for that coffee, or else you wouldn’t have made it through your class. After grabbing lunch, sitting with your laptop open while going over some notes and eating a sandwich, you decide to head to the library to get started on that assignment you hadn’t touched yet. As you walk through the rather busy building, you notice a familiar figure.
Harry is sitting on a couch, notes beside him while he wrote in another note book. He looks focused, brows pulled together while he rolls his lips into his mouth. A week later, and you still couldn’t stop thinking of how hot he was. You two had only bumped into each other once after he drove you to your dorm - first day of class, very brief but very flirtatious. Otherwise it was Snapchats or text messages, never really planning to see each other either. Not that you were completely complaining, but you were sort of happy to see him sitting there alone.
You must’ve been standing still for too long. Harry’s eyes slowly lift up, finding you a few feet away. You catch those dimples immediately and chuckle while walking towards him. Dressed in a mustard yellow vintage looking tshirt, black jeans with a rip in one knee, vans upon his feet and a mess of hair atop his head - he sure did look good.
“Hey,” you say once you’re standing in front of him.
“Long time no see,” Harry smiles.
“Been busy, classes are really kicking my ass,” you sigh and feel the weight of your backpack.
“Sit,” Harry orders, pushing his notes aside for you to join him at the other side of the couch he had taken to himself. For a moment you second guess it, thinking of declining and finding your own space far away from the hot frat boy. But instead you nod once and plop down on the couch.
“Whatcha working on?” You ask while unzipping your backpack.
“Network algorithms,” Harry answers in a monotone voice as he goes back to his work. Your eyebrows fly up at his words, you were expecting something like some bullshit business class. Not network algorithms that was for sure.
“What are you majoring in?” You question. Harry looks up from his work and brings both his arms back to stretch behind him. Again, it was pretty hot.
“Computer sciences and programming,” he answers.
“Actually?” You can’t seem to register that this hot Brit who you met at his fraternity house while drinking beers all night was in computer sciences.
“Uh yeah,” Harry chuckles and scratches the back of his head, “what did ya think I was doing?” He asks, a smug look on his face as he seems to gather the fact you’re rather impressed with his choice of degree.
“Open studies, probably just here for some athletic program,” you shrug.
“Well, y’got half it right,” Harry smiles.
“So, you’re like really smart or something like that?”
“Yeah, got the brains and the beauty,” Harry winks. And there’s that cocky frat boy you knew. Rolling your eyes, you focus back to your things and open up your laptop to find your assignment.
Harry doesn’t say anything for the few minutes it takes for you to set yourself up, instead he just watches you with his dimples on display. And once you’re all situated, Harry goes back to his algorithms. Only about twenty minutes pass before you’re over thinking everything and lean back against the arm of the couch with a big sigh. It should be relatively easy, but somehow your prof has you all confused.
“Anything I can help with?” Harry asks, causing you to look away from your laptop, “now that y’know I’m so smart, you should really take advantage of it, little bird,”
“Take advantage of you, huh?” you joke, flipping the switch and you smirking at him this time.
Harry isn’t as quick with a comeback as you thought he’d be. Instead he sticks his tongue out to lick his lips before adjusting how he’s sitting on the couch. When he’s eyes are back on you, they are just as desirable and flirtatious as usual. You give him a big smile of triumph - you had just made Harry speechless.
“What are you working on?” Harry asks.
“An assignment for History of Psychology,” you state, eyes back on the description of the assignment, “my prof just sucks at explaining some things,” you add while scanning over your notes to find what this assignment was even for.
“Who do you have?”
“Professor McGallen,” you frown.
“Oh yeah, had him in my first year,” Harry states while grabbing a half full water bottle from the floor beside him, “he’s a real pain sometimes,”
“Big time,” you sigh and glance back at the assignment, “I’m sure I’ll figure this out, I’m not like really struggling in the class and it’s the first bit of work so it should be easy, right?”
“I believe in you,” Harry smiles. You narrow your eyes at him, wanting to roll them at his cheesy line. Instead you grab your pen and notebook and prop up one knee to be able to write.
Another hour goes by with the both of you hard at work. But you’d be lying if you said you didn’t glance over at Harry when you got a chance. It was only fair though, because Harry did the same thing. Didn’t take an idiot to know there was plenty of tension between you two - the sexual kind, to be exact. You bite down on your pen while working out some of the notes James had emailed you earlier and get going. All is well, till a group of rumbustious guys walk up towards the couch you and Harry were seated at a while later.
“Harry, my man,” a large man - tall and muscle wise - came out of nowhere with two more behind him. You notice he has some large tattoo on his dark skin, he wore a white hat backwards and was dressed in all black. He was pretty attractive too, couldn’t deny it.
“Hey guys,” Harry smiles and give each of them one of those half assed bro high five hug things. And after each one, the three boys all look your way.
You lift up a hand and give them a short wave. Talk about awkward, something told you these were just a few of Harry’s frat brothers, and something else told you Harry wasn’t the kinda guy to just casually hang out with a girl.
“Uh, guys this is Y/N,” Harry introduces you to his friends, “this is Eddy, Mark, and Brandon,” he runs through each of their names quickly.
“Lovely to meet you, missy,” Eddy, the large man who decided shouting in the library was cool, coos out while grabbing ahold of your hand and placing a kiss to the back.
“You too,” you chuckle at his gesture.
Brandon and Mark just stare before bringing up some sort of time change for their morning practice - so you were right, Harry did some sort of sport here. Only made sense though, since he was your typical hot frat boy, not adding jock to that description would just be absurd. The boys continue to be rowdy as you try your hardest to stay focused on your assignment, which you had barely done half of through the couple hours here now.
“Heard Lins is pretty pissed with you lately,” Eddy says to Harry, you glance up through your lashes to look at the boys again. Eddy is nudging Harry, his brown eyes wide as he makes it seem like whoever this Lins person is being pissed is a real bad thing.
“Lindsey? Wasn’t she literally over just last night?” Brandon asks, furrowing his brows at Harry.
Why did it feel like someone just stabbed you in the gut? You swallow and tuck a piece of hair behind your hair. You catch Harry’s eyes flashing towards you, but you’re quick to look back at your laptop and act as if you weren’t listening in. You shouldn’t be so surprised, of course Harry had girls at his feet.
“Y’know, it’s Lindsey,” Harry says - how very vague of him.
And why were you suddenly so angry? You bite the inside of your bottom lip and type out a sentence for your assignment. Eddy lets out a hollowing laugh, slapping Harry’s shoulder before leaning forward as he sat on the arm of the couch.
“You’re fucking crazy, man,” Eddy laughs.
“Hey, Lindsey may be a handful but she’s fucking hot,” Mark states.
The others all say some sort of agreement, while Harry just keeps quiet and nods once. You don’t even notice how much and how roughly you’re biting on your bottom lip till you taste the tangy blood in your mouth. As the boys keep talking beside you, you decide it’s time you left. Wether it was their obnoxious voices in the library or this talk of who Harry’s sleeping with, but you wanted to leave now.
“Oh, no, don’t leave,” Eddy says as he notices you packing up, “we’re leaving soon anyways,” he adds.
“No, it’s fine, really,” you stuff your laptop into the big pocket of your bag before zipping it up and grabbing your phone from the couch cushion. “I’m getting hungry anyways and have food in my dorm I should eat,” you say with a tight smile. It wasn’t a lie, but it was a good cover up.
“Oh, okay,” Eddy smiles back and nods while jumping around to take your seat beside Harry now. “See ya around, missy,” he grins.
“See ya,” you wave and just before you’re about to walk off, you look at Harry.
He rolls his lips into his mouth, wetting them, before speaking, “text you later, good luck with the assignment,” he says.
“Yeah, bye,” you mumble out before turning on your heels and leaving behind the bitter feeling that couch was giving you since a certain conversation had begun.
As you are walking out into the fresh air outside, your phone vibrates in your hand. You expect it to be Harry, for some odd reason, but are proven wrong as you see it’s a notification for an email. Squinting as the setting sun gets in your eyes, you check being crossing the street that your dorm building was on before opening your phone to check the email. It’s from James.
A smile tugs on your lips as you read it, ‘how are the notes treating you? need any more pointers?’, how thoughtful. You type out a quick reply ‘maybe, tomorrow after class?’
Once you’re inside your dorm, throwing your backpack on your bed and then flopping down beside it, you get a response from James. He agrees to sticking together after class for some help, and you’re actually really thankful because his notes from today were a lot more helpful than yours were from the rest of the week. Plus, thinking of James got out the thoughts of Harry and some crazy chick named Lindsey.

Probably ADHD?
Sooo I Probably have ADHD, no official diagnosis yet and it doesn't really matter to me weather I get diagnosed or not anyway. I'm just wondering how do you know? Like for sure? I'm pretty sure I have it. It's noticeable in small ways. Executive Dysfunction, Forgetting things, having trouble focusing in conversation. But sometimes stuff happens where I'm like: ooooh my god ADHD is fucking with my brain. Right now I'm sitting at Starbucks reading "Holding up the Universe" and I swear I want to read this book but I can't focus. Wtf? I seam to be able to focus on everything around me just not on the book. I notice everything. EVERYTHING. The girls at the table infront of me are studying Bio-Chem, they are talking about types of cells and the mating patterns of birds. The table next to me is occupied by a group of young girls. They aren't from here one is American. The guy across from me is tapping his fingers on the table. He's staring at something on his MacBook. The barista is talking to someone about the weather. He seams stressed out. Somewhere in the back a lady is talking on the phone about a doctors appointment she just had. She says it went well. I don't mean to eavesdrop on these conversations but my brain just..does it? It's almost like I don't have a filter? Really I just want to sit here and fucking focus on reading but I can't. My brain is weird.

Where I Work: Catherine Bailey of Heath Ceramics
A lot has changed since Heath Ceramics co-founder Catherine Bailey appeared on the Clever podcast earlier this year. A complete shift in how and where she works was necessary, as it has been for many people around the world. Instead of staying put at home, she moved to her property in West Marin, California in March to set up a simpler life and work existence in two vintage trailers. Despite its picturesque waterside location, Bailey finds herself more productive than ever having less distractions popping up throughout the day. For this month’s Where I Work, Heath creative director Catherine Bailey fills us all in on the business in the time of a pandemic, where she’s working, and how she’s getting it all done.
What’s your studio/work environment like?
So much is shifting, and just like everything else changing, and so has my work environment. My work requires me to meet with many different people at Heath. I look at physical objects, glazes, and products that must be seen and held to understand. A small but favorite part of my work is exploring my own ideas through painting and drawing, but most of my work is communicating with co-workers, through physical and digital conversations. Before Covid-19, I spent much of my work day in different meeting rooms and offices. My office, complete with our dog Ponch, was where I started and ended the day, and sometimes got some emails done. All creative work happened at home, in my office, or at the dining table, depending on the light and my mood.
Since March, when any of us who could work at home did so, I changed homes. I have been spending most of my time working out of a trailer in West Marin. I find this environment gives me perspective, helps me focus, and I can free my head to be creative here. It’s a simpler place, on the water, and in-between doing my work, I’m able to be outside. In this surrounding, we have several different spaces that work for us. We’ve got two trailers, a 1948 and a 1951 Spartanette, and we built a large deck to connect them. I work in one and sleep in the other. There’s also a cottage that’s in need of renovation (not just to make it prettier, but most would consider it a tear down shack) and can function as another space that I can work in. There’s also a picnic table where I can work outside. I’m happiest outside, and in this set up, I’m constantly outdoors, going between one space and the other. My family is often here as well, and the trailers allow us to be in separate contained spaces when we need to focus on our work independently.
How is your space organized/arranged?
I have my digital workspace set up in our 1948 Spartanette trailer. As makeshift as it is, it’s one of the most successful spaces I’ve worked in. The trailer has a built-in table, and I work on an old Aalto stool. I never work straight for more than 45 minutes. I need to get up, stretch, leave the trailer, and step outside. Getting outside so often gives me perspective, the small windows in the trailer create the perfect light for screen work, and since the space is independent, no one is passing through or distracting me. I’m so efficient in getting things done! I’ll also move locations a lot. I take video calls in the work trailer or sometimes in the cottage. Work in the evening can extend into the sleeping trailer. The trailers don’t have lots of storage space built in, so I don’t have years of accumulated stuff in this current work space, which feels freeing.
How long have you been in this space? Where did you work before that?
I’ve been working this way as much as I can since late March. I go into our Sausalito Factory to see and discuss samples, but other than that, I am doing all my work at the trailers.
If you could change something about your workspace, what would it be?
I really miss large work tables that foster collaboration and discussion!
Is there an office pet?
Ponch – as is Jon and Ponch… think 1980’s TV, Eric Estrada… he’s the best trailer office dog. In the regular office, he has a “jumping on people” problem.
Do you require music in the background? If so, who are some favorites?
I listen to a lot of audio books if I’m doing work that doesn’t require writing, most recently Utopia for Realists and The Nordic Theory of Everything. For music Rosanne Cash and Wilson Pickett have been on my playlist this month.
How do you record ideas?
Notebook with specific organization. A 6×6 notebook with heavy paper and a .005 felt tip.
Do you have an inspiration board? What’s on it right now?
I do inspiration documents in Google slides, that are specific to projects.
What is your typical work style?
It’s more haphazard than I’d like it to be. So much of my job is to support others and help them move forward. I’m constantly getting distracted by new fires to help put out, and it doesn’t allow me to often get into the flow of work that I find satisfying. Working out of the trailer is helping me be more focused when I dig into a project. Every day is different. Especially working an hour away from Heath, I have to plan trips into Sausalito or San Francisco in advance. What I love about working here is the weight and rhythm of nature – it is hitting me in the face all day and giving me a sense of rhythm that I never have had in my work life before. Two tides go out every day. Certain birds seem to have rhythm’s that I’m beginning to notice. I have a greater awareness of the connection of where the sun and shadows are to the time of day. It sounds strange, but it helps me organize my day and have more perspective as I wade through some of the most difficult conversations and decisions that are coming up at this time when so much certainty has disappeared.
What is your creative process and/or creative workflow like? Does it change every project or do you keep it the same?
There is consistency in my approach. I always try to look outside for what I know well for inspiration.
What kind of art/design/objects might you have scattered about the space?
The trailers themself are wonderful self-contained design objects, so being able to live in and around them is thought provoking and fulfilling. The exteriors are sheet aluminum and the interiors are made of wood. Walls, floors, ceilings. Lots of ⅛” ply. It’s a lightweight object for what it is, with materials that feel solid on the outside and warm on the inside. The lighting in the 1951 trailer is original and perfect, better than in my house. It’s sort of nice to be in this little bubble of nice design without having to add much, there’s not much space for art or additional objects, other than a few vintage paint-by-numbers paintings that I found at a garage sale years ago, and some ceramics from our studio.
What tool(s) do you most enjoy using in the design process?
Watercolors, they force you to be loose and I find that helpful at the beginning part of the process.
Let’s talk about how you’re wired. Tell us about your tech arsenal/devices.
Nothing terribly unique, I have a MacBook Pro, but working on presentations and photo editing on my huge iMac monitor is a dream.
What design software do you use, if any, and for what?
Not much! I do a lot of photo editing in Lightroom, and some drawing in Illustrator, but other than that, it’s all in Google – lots of Google slides to share inspiration, ideas, plans, and schedules. Especially now when we’re not meeting in person, finding ways of sharing and organizing is important. By taking photos of sketches, or mocking up super rough photos or ideas and collecting them in these documents, the work can be shared and others can contribute.
Personally, I love working on ideas for environments using Sketch Up, I build sloppy models, but they can serve as immersive napkin sketches.
What’s on your desk right now?
Some color explorations for the winter seasonal collection and my little notebook.
Is there a favorite project/piece you’ve worked on?
The Chez Panisse dinnerware we did with Alice Waters is one of my favorite projects. We recently re-released it with new glazes, and I am really happy with the end result and the collaboration. The dinnerware shapes pull from tradition, but are modern, relevant, and functional and the glazes are uniquely Heath. With this project, we are able to support the Edible School Yard. This organization was started by Alice Waters to create and sustain organic gardens in public school’s curriculum, culture, and food programs. The project felt successful on many levels.
Tell us about a current project you’re working on. What was the inspiration behind it?
This is a tough question to answer honestly at this moment. This year has been so hard, so many of the projects we’ve worked on and dreamed about have been delayed or cancelled. We were doing some beautiful work with Alabama Chain, which was going to come out this summer. That was postponed, our team and our factory is smaller due to Covid-19, and this all has an impact on the creative work that is the heart of Heath, and everyone at Heath. Our lead designer, and most of our product development team, was on temporary leave when it was time to decide if we would be able to do a new collection for Winter. Our studio director, Tung Chang, and I decided we would tackle it. We were also in the unfortunate position to have to lay off part of our team, so there were mountains of unknowns. We plowed forward, and are excited about the collection’s inspiration: Hope and Love. The feelings that those words evoke are the season, and override the normal inspirations and filters of winter. We just photographed it, so I cannot show the final result, but these are some of our tests and samples – look for it in October.
Do you have anything in your home that you’ve designed/created?
I designed the interior of my home, as well as this whole trailer indoor-outdoor work life situation that I’m now living in. The space has a bigger vision than these two trailers and the platform connecting them, but being forced to live in an uncompleted vision has made me ask questions about what is necessary and what is enough. There is a certain amount of perfection and detail in design that can sometimes make things better, but not always, and it should be questioned.

* Updated for 2018!
Podcasting serves to communicate a special message to the audience out there, but it is also a source or revenue. In the current wake of technological outburst, one can get it all confused when acquiring the best podcast starter kit . However, there is an individual level of technological comfort that acts as a guide, when one sets out to purchase podcast hardware. It is ideal for one to have information on what paraphernalia to buy and what to look for in podcasting kit.

Features That Make Up Equipment For Podcasting
The parts comes as a combination of different equipment that forms a system. It is possible for one to forget some of the important components, and one should have a list of the basic tools. Quality remains an integral element during your selection, but getting the right set up goes a long way in facilitating good podcasting results. Whilst one can record directly into a computer, the following gear makes it up:
Podcasting Microphone
A microphone is one part of the podcasting kit picks up the voice during a podcast session. One has an option to pick pop screens and filters in order to make the sound cleaner. There are two types of recording microphones: dynamic mic and condenser. However, each type has its advantages and disadvantages.  Personally, for ease of use, I recommend a usb microphone and don’t forget the pop filters and an extra microphone cable!
You actually may also consider lavalier microphones if you want something smaller or don’t have the desk room.
Probably one of the most important things to think about here is that if you want good sound quality, the podcasting mics is where it starts.
Podcast Audio Mixer Or USB Audio Interface
A mixer helps a podcaster adjust the volume and effects during a podcasting session. It comes in handy when there are more than one person in one session. It becomes easy for one to adjust the effects well ahead of time before the next comes live while recording.
Looking for more indepth info on these?  Take a look at our best podcast mixer article.
Digital Recorder
A digital recorder can serve both outdoor and indoor recording purposes. It records a session for production. One can just plug a microphone directly on the recording devices, or connect the recorder with a mixer. The recorders range from small dictaphones to professional recorders.
Audio Cables
The choice of cables depends on configuration of your internet radio gear. One can use cables to connect a microphone to a mixer or recorder. Their main function is to transmit signals from one end of equipment to the other.
Podcasting Headphones
Headphones allow one to monitor a broadcast session. It becomes possible to hear other podcasters clearly. Headphones also help one to listen to the effects and adjust them accordingly.  Just make sure the headphone jack matches with what your gear.
What to Look For In the Best Podcasting Kit
Microphone – If one opts to pick a condenser microphone, there is a need to use it while in a sound booth. This microphone picks up even the slightest noise, and it can pick the sound of a seat creaking or birds chirping from outside the recording room. A dynamic microphone befits a small room or basement podcast sessions. It features quality sound and it has control over any noise in the room. On pricing, a condenser microphone starter kit is more expensive than a dynamic one.
Mixer – People buy mixers according to their technological comfort. If one wants to use more than one microphone, then the best podcasting mixer with USB connections comes in handy. One can also look for a mixer with an AUX outlet in order to achieve a mix/minus set up that is necessary for Skype or Google Hangouts interview calls. This feature also enables interviewees to listen to other channels except their own, and it eliminates feedback looping.  It means that the recording environment determines the choice of a microphone. A noisy environment calls for a dynamic microphone while a quiet environment is ideal for a condenser microphone. Nevertheless, one can customize the environment where necessary in order to achieve a better microphone performance for your podcast.
Digital Recorder – Digital recorders are easy to use since they have built-in editing tools. Portability remains a crucial consideration when one buys a digital recorder. Small recorders are easy to carry and fix on cameras when filming a video. However, one can choose a slightly bigger recorder for static recording purposes.
Cables – Whilst there are no good or bad cables, factors such as their price and warranty come in handy. Some cables are more expensive than others. Similarly, some cables come with a warranty while others do not have it.
Headphones – One should always go for podcast headphones that have a high quality. Some headphones usually have a high quality than others. It all depends on the clarity of the sound when one uses them.
Other things you may need to get separately:
Mic stands
extra cables – XLR microphone or USB depending on what you need.
Best Computer For Podcasting
For me, it is always going to be a simple choice – a Macbook.  Take a look here for a bunch of great options by clicking here.
  Podcasting Starter Kits Conclusion
With such information, both the entry-level and professional streaming becomes easy to carry out. It is the right set up and the quality of the best podcast starter kit that matters. The information makes it possible for one to undertake both outdoor and indoor podcasting sessions.
All you should need now is some podcast hosting, podcasting software, good ideas and a speaking voice!  If these can’t get your podcasting studio ready, I don’t know what will!

Road Test: GoPro HERO6 Black

We recently took a week-long trip up to Oregon to visit family scattered about the state that I grew up in, and I decided to pack only ONE camera and the various accessories to see if I could manage to satisfy the call for adventure through action cam imagery. Here’s my experience… and the results.
Mt Hood, OR captured with the HERO6 Black on a Karma Drone
The Gear
Camera: GoPro HERO6 Black
Accessories: Karma Drone & Grip Kit w/Extra LiPo Battery Shorty (Mini Extension w Tripod) Spare H6 Batts & Charger GoPro Portable Power Pack Suction Cup Mount Spare Mounts, extensions, cables, etc.
MacBook Pro w/1TB External HD
All the gear packed for the trip…
Setting out for the trip with just my Karma Drone backpack and my other backpack with the GoPro HERO6, Black, accessories, MacBook Pro, etc., I was intentionally NOT going to worry about making this trip about capturing every little detail of our journey, but to let it happen organically after we landed in Portland.
The Journey
Of course, the first few days were raining and I had little opportunity to really do much, so we spent time with family, mostly. Time well-spent. And a few GoPro handheld shots off the balcony of our hotel showed the fall colors of the city on the waterfront quite nicely.
Portland, OR – Pano from GoPro HERO6 Black handheld video frames
I did manage to get a few shots of the amazing fall foliage and the Willamette River that runs through the middle of the city from our balcony view in between showers. My only regret was not getting a good time-lapse of the drawbridge but there was very little ship traffic over the weekend.
The weather cleared up and we headed over the mountain pass by Mt Hood and on our way to Bend. I decided to pull off a few times both going out and coming back to slap the GoPro Suction Cup mount on the windshield to capture some video through the tree-lined mountain passes (you’ll see some time-ramped passes in the video down below).
GoPro HERO6 Black on Suction Cup mount through the mountain pass
I’ve used these Suction Cup mounts a lot over the years and have never had any issue with them vibrating or coming loose even at high speeds/long distances, so I’m always confident I can trust them even while traveling.
And let me tell you how amazing the built-in stabilization is on the HERO6 Black! The results are so smooth it’s as if it was on a gimbal. The improvement is overwhelming for those of you on the fence about upgrading from your HERO5 Black as noted in this comparison video I posted https://youtu.be/IOiEW7Hrd-8 from my hands-on review. Even the vibrations from the car are nearly completely eliminated.
Karma Drone in flight with the HERO6 Black
Karma Drone
I only had two batteries with me this trip so for my day experiences, I had to judiciously plan out what two 20-minute flights I wanted to capture imagery along the way. Since the weather was absolutely amazing for late October in Oregon, I really wanted to try to capture some of Mt Hood covered with a fresh blanket of snow, since the previous year when we came up here, it was almost completely bare!
We stopped along the way near the base of the mountain along the highway where a small ski run was closed for repairs before the new season and launched from there. You’ll see in the video we got a couple decent shots from that launch, as well as a lovely 300º+ pano!
Flying the Karma Drone off the highway near the closed ski runs at the base of Mt Hood.
This pano was stitched together from still frames of the video capture using Kolor’s AutoPana Giga (APG) and then finished off in Adobe Photoshop. I will be printing this out with my other collection of aerial panos…
Karma Drone & HERO6 aerial panorama stitched from video frames.
Further along the journey is one of my favorite canyons in the stretch of Hwy 26 through Warm Springs. The landscape goes from flat high-desert and drops down into a carved canyon. The video shows a few clips but it’s really hard to capture the majesty of this route even with a road-cam attached. Check out the video below to see the aerial shots I took rising out of this canyon.
Once we got to our resort destination in Bend (it was late evening and dark out so we could only hear the roar of the Deschutes River below our condo) we got up to an amazing panorama the next day!
I promptly sent the Karma up and out over the river canyon below* and was able to capture this amazing panorama from just below the top tree line where I could legally fly.

*Note that I checked all the charts and was allowed to fly in this location as long as I remained below 200ft AGL and below the top tree line of this canyon where I launched as there is a small landing strip within 5 miles of this location.
It was a bit windy in this canyon, so I didn’t fly too low or near trees in the video, and I was being respectful of the distance to not annoy any other visitors of the area that filled with resort condos, hiking trails and the like.
Okay – HERE is the video I keep mentioning. It has a montage of handheld shots with camera stabilization on, Karma Grip, Karma Drone and Suction Cup mounted auto time lapses. Enjoy!
Still Photography
As I said, the GoPro HERO6 Black was the ONLY production camera we brought on this trip (besides iPhone 6s, that is), so using either the Shorty handheld extension or the Karma Grip, we took images, panos and “selfies” with the HERO6!

The HERO6 Black performed much better than I expected, despite such a wide-angle lens. I also would have like to have some ND filters with me or at least a Polarizer (look for my upcoming product review from PolarPro featuring these filters that I got after we returned from this trip). But for the most part, I let the camera run in full-auto whenever possible to replicate the average consumer user’s experience, and overall, I’ve been really impressed with results from the HERO6 Black.
Also, I’ve noticed a strange purple casting that appears in the white edges of highlights and cast on items of white clothing at times. After reading in some of the forums online, I’ve seen that a lot of people are noticing this as well.
Here’s a closeup at 100% in Photoshop ACR:
Purple edged highlights
But using Photoshop’s Adobe Camera Raw adjustments (or Lumetri Color in Adobe Premiere Pro for your videos), you can easily knock out the purple highlights from any of your images:

Of course my wife and I had to get a couple typical tourist shots along the hiking trail!
So while we were in Bend, we had a small family gathering with my parents and my brother & sister in-law at our resort condo and managed to get everyone to smile for the GoPro on the coffee table, taking sequenced shots from the Shorty extension handle tripod. In hind-sight, I should have raised the camera, but food, wine and laughter prevailed!
Say “cheese”!
Our final trip back to Portland we were blessed with more blue skies, white snow-capped mountains and contrasting fall colors looking up the windy Columbia River at a spectacular lookout a friend hipped us to that’s off the beaten path. I would have loved to launch the Karma Drone from here but it was too windy and now real launch/landing site I’d trust to take off from. So we settled for a single awesome photo!

What Worked – What Didn’t
For the most part, it was freeing to just have the GoPro HERO6 Black to keep in my pocket attached to the Shorty extension for whatever occasion we found ourselves. We took tons of family shots and goofy videos having fun that aren’t shown here but were a lot easier than relying on crappy iPhone videos. But mostly we captured some amazing scenics along the way. It did make make me wish, however, that I had a DSLR with a zoom lens at times, but I also have thousands of those shots filling up hard drives at home already and I simply didn’t have to futz with much bringing the HERO6 along. I found that I just used it more and didn’t feel like I had to dig out a big gear bag everywhere we went.
One tough lesson I had to learn the hard way was not having a fast enough *Micro SD card with me. I was using Lexar 633x and SanDisk Ultra which have worked just fine in the HERO5 Black previously, but I was getting Card Error messages often when shooting 2,7k/60 or 4k/30. That’s really tough when you’re mid-flight and you have to bring the bird back home and land it to reboot the camera. I did learn if you don’t try to shoot anything over your last card error shot, the HERO6 will repair the end file writing and save your last video upon reboot, so that’s a big plus!
Note: SanDisk Extreme or Pro Micro SD cards are necessary for shooting high frame rate or UHD on the HERO6 Black.
Sadly, the Karma was pretty restricted in where we could fly it. If you’re out in the middle of nowhere (no buildings, bridges, reinforced concrete, etc.) then it seemed to work okay.
Karma drone was often grounded
Otherwise we’d get compass errors and couldn’t take off (not that you’d ever want to take off with a compass error or in an unsafe location, so in this case, the failsafe does work!). It’s just that relying on the Karma for my only aerial shots, limited me to only a few locations that I would normally be able to fly a DJI Phantom or Mavic Pro with ease.
But what I could do with the Karma was remove the gimbal and attach it to the Karma Grip for smooth handheld shots with the HERO6, so not all was lost.
Overall, the HERO6 Black and Karma gave us flexibility and accessibility to make some fun and creative memories of our short trip!

.how did you put the hearts on top of your profile photo, is there an app for it?
I used a MacBook! On the PhotoBooth option - It has the bird, heart, and many other filters there. :)
