Baisemain - a kiss on the hand
Characters: Brenna Larossa, Constance Macayle
Pairing: Macarenna
The end of summer was nearing, the cool nights and slowly changing leaves doing much to help indicate that.  However cool the nights may be, or how much the landscape was starting to change, mother nature was deciding to go out with a bang.
Or at least a ball of flame that would peter out before dusk, and come back to life after dawn.
Mac and Brenna sat along the bank of a river, the shade from the trees providing some much needed relief from the heat.  Before the sun had risen, the two had decided on a stroll in the woods, possibly a picnic later at whatever location they had wound up in.
Brenna lay stretched out on their picnic blanket, her head in Mac’s lap.  She smiled softly, her lover’s fingers idly playing with strands of her golden hair, practically sending her into a peaceful sleep.  She looked up at Mac, the hand not occupied with her hair holding a book.  Her eyes were the only indication that she was reading, the orbs moving down the page before flicking over to the next.  It was amazing at how she could sit like that for long; the tree behind her back had to be uncomfortable!
After a while Brenna chuckled to herself and stilled Mac’s hand, taking it in her own and pressing her lips to the back of it.  Mac took her eyes from the book and looked down at the woman in her lap, a smile spreading across her lips.  “What was that for?”
Brenna squeezed her hand and shrugged slightly.  “Just because.”
Mac put her book down and leaned forward, kissing Brenna’s forehead softly.  The book was forgotten after that, the two enjoying the peaceful afternoon together in silence.

Llew sat on the tree stump in silence, her face holding no emotion yet the tell-tale signs of a blush creeping across her face began to give her away.  "This is your doing, Constance."
Mac grinned as she placed crude plates and utensils on the make-shift table, brushing the remnants of their loud surprise to the forest floor.  "Oh come off it woman, you know you like this."
The elf sniffed stubbornly, trying so very hard not to smile as she brushed a piece of home-made confetti out of her hair.  "One would think that Brenna would have some kind of leash on you by now.  You are the most insufferable human that I have ever come across."
Mac giggled and placed a tiara made from various wildflowers atop her elven friend's head, winking roguishly.  "I'll take that as a compliment dear.  Besides, Brenna's the one that helped me."
Llew frowned slightly, the blush on her cheeks darkening as she looked around the small clearing.  Hanging from the trees was a banner, made from what looked like the cleanest and most-intact tablecloth that could be found, 'Happy Birthday Princess' scrawled across the surface.  The make-shift table was surrounded by various flowers and plants, a small pile of gifts accommodating one end.  There was a silly looking stuffed halla that she'd been itching to grab and cuddle, but had refrained from doing so.  The entire area around them was full of shiny and sparkly balls of light that seemed to have a mind of their own.  All in all it was really very lovely, and touching, though the stubborn and withdrawn elf was hard-pressed to admit it.
She sniffed slightly and bit her lip to keep from grinning.  "I find that hard to believe."
The rogue laughed and shook her head.  "She did!  All of them helped in fact; Eve, Brenna, Sophia, and I made the sign.  Eve helped me to hang it up, while Brenna and munchkin gathered all of these wildflowers, herbs, and various other plants for you.  Then Sophia managed to make all of these little shinies with her newfound magic..
As if on cue, the three materialized from the woodlands, bearing food, drinks, and dessert.  They all sat their wares down on the table and crowded around the blushing elf, wishing her a happy birthday once more.
Mac hugged her from behind and kissed her cheek soundly, relieved that Llew had finally relented and allowed herself to smile.  "Happy birthday, Princess.  NOW, what do you want first; actual food, or cake?"
And there was much rejoicing!

.: Prepared :.
Characters: Llwellyn Mearna, Evelyn Lyn, Sophia Dale, Constance Macayle; mentions of Brenna Larossa
Pairing: Macarenna, if you squint really hard.
Oh yeah I only own Mac and Sophia (partially); I just borrowed everyone else :P
Zombies, chaos, and arguments; OH MY!
I know this isn't exclusively Macarenna, but it's the first part to another little drabble.  And I'm posting EVERYTHING Mac & Brenna related XD
—————————————————————————————————
"What are we to do, Constance?"  Llew asked breathlessly as the group came to a halt behind a secluded building, the chaos still ringing in their ears.  "The city is overrun and in disarray, the beloved justice system is virtually nonexistent, they are to quarantine the area in four hours, and Brenna..." she broke off and shook her head, noting the pained looked that flashed in the other woman's eyes and immediately regretting what she'd started to say.
Sophia tightened her hold around Mac's waist, the unshed tears threatening to spill onto her cheeks.  "Where is Auntie Brenna?"
Mac sighed softly and put her hand on top of the youngsters head.  "I'm not sure pumpkin, but I bet wherever she is she's alright."
Eve uncapped a bottle of water and took a swig, passing it around as she regained her breath.  "What's the plan, Mac?"
She chanced a look around the corner, sighing in relief when she saw that they were still in relative safety.  "We're going to get out of the city."
"How do you propose we do that?  They've all but trapped us in here; all the ways in and out of this place have been sealed off."
Mac chewed on her lip and smiled slightly, turning to face her friend.  "Don't give up on us yet, Princess.  We've been through everything together, and we've managed to live through it all so far.  We will be fine."
"Nothing could have prepared us for this, Constance."  Llew said tiredly, the horrors that they had all witnessed still fresh in their minds.
"You can never be truly prepared for anything Llew."  Eve said softly, squeezing her shoulder lightly.  "She does raise a good point though Mac; there's no way out, and you know as well as I do that they're going to do whatever they can to detain and cleanse this city."
"It hasn't been entirely blocked off."
"What do you mean?"
Mac smiled slightly and nodded off to the left.  "The river is too wide and rough for anything, living or otherwise, to cross it safely.  Why bother blocking it?"
"You can't possibly-"
Eve nodded in agreement, a determined glint in her eye.  "We've done it plenty of times before, this won't be any different.  It'll be fun Llew; just like old times."
Though she had her doubts, she couldn't help but grin at her companions.  "Alright, the river."
"The boats should still be there.  I want you three to go for them.  Stick as close to the shadows as possible, and if you're able to, grab what you can on the way.  Essentials only."
"But I want to come with you!"
Mac smiled and kissed the little girls forehead.  "I need you to stay with your Auntie's, and help them gather supplies.  Can you do that for me munchkin?"  Sophia slowly nodded her head, a tear breaking lose.  Mac brushed it away and hugged her.  "That's my girl."
Eve shouldered her crossbow and the bag containing the few things they had managed to grab.  "Where are you going to look?"
"I'm not sure.  I'll start by going back to where we got split up, and go from there.  I've got a little under four hours left."
"Constance...."  Llew struggled to find the words she wanted to say, the elf eventually sighing and hugging Mac gently.  "You'll find her."
Mac nodded and squeezed her hand lightly for a moment.  "Take the river west into the woods.  Brenna and I will find you guys there."
Eve took Sophia by the hand, the little girl taking Llew's in return.  They all parted as one, Llew, Eve, and Sophia heading south towards the river, while Mac headed north, back into the heart of the city.
None of them knew what was to happen for certain, but they held on to the fact that they'd braved everything together, and that sheer will and a deep stubbornness kept them going.
Even in times as dark as these.

"I am a warrior!" The woman huffed as she untangled her hair from a branch, for about the tenth time.  "Not some nature dweller.  I have no business fighting the woodlands."
Her companion chuckled lightly as she crept through the trees and bushes with ease.  "Well warrioress, I could have left you, alone, back there.  Maker knows you would have prevailed over a fire...."
"No, no...." the woman sighed behind her, plodding on in the dark wilderness.  "I am grateful you came around to help me.  I just- ah!"
The other woman cringed at the sound of the warrior tripping and tumbling to the ground, resisting the urge to snicker.  She turned back around and walked to the grumbling and groaning woman, crouching down at her level.  "You know if you didn't drink so much you wouldn't have this problem."
The warrior sniffed disdainfully and winced slightly as she moved her ankle around.  "I am not drunk.  I'm just...."
"Clumsy?"
"Maybe."
The woman smiled and looked the warrior over carefully with her dark brown eyes, fighting the urge to let her compassion show.  She shoved it aside, deciding that she would allow herself to give into those urges, for this woman's sake.  "You just need to learn to tread softly, like the ranger or- "
"A rogue, like you?" the warrior asked with a slight smile, forgetting the pain in her ankle for a moment.
The rogue laughed lightly and helped her to her feet.  "It's not as easy as it looks, trust me.  You'll learn, in time."
She smiled gratefully, a slight frown creasing her brow after a moment.  "You know, we've been together for a little while now....but I don't think I've ever learned your name."
The rogue studied her carefully for a moment, realizing that she was right.  She chewed on her bottom lip, before extending her hand.  "Constance Macayle.  Mac."
"Brenna Larossa.  Brenna."
They shook hands, Mac drawing Brenna's arm around her neck, an arm wrapping around her waist.  "Time to press on.  Don't worry my warrioress, I'll take care of you."  The two continued on through the darkness, Mac walking on at a leisurely pace while Brenna hobbled slightly beside her and leaned into the other woman for support.
This was the beginning of a friendship that had the potential to blossom into something more.
They just didn't know it yet.
