It’s a “Periodic Table” of #vintagemtb’s! Welcome to my bike collection “origin story.” One of the unexpected benefits of building an eBay business as a #vintagemtbparts reseller is that sometimes I get to hang onto the bikes I buy to flip. Three of the four shown here (my primary bikes) are exactly that. All are technically “inventory,” and will be available for sale someday, but, like Tom Cruise said in the latest Top Gun: “…not today.”🤣 When I got back into cycling in 2020 (after ~25 years), I only had the black steel Diamond Back Axis Pro. Bought the frame on Craigslist, had it powder coated, and built it up with full XT M730 (down to the Shark Fin). Rides beautifully and the drivetrain is heavenly. Sadly, it’s the bike that gets ridden the least of these.😢 The Gary Fisher Marlin arguably isn’t even vintage anymore, since I upgraded it to 1x10 Deore, mechanical disc brakes (every other bike I own has rim brakes) and a dropper post. But it’s still a very capable bike, and before the #iamspecialized FSR came along, it was the bike I’d take on new or really technical (sic - for me lol) trails. The Y11 started out as a beat up CL find with LX components & shot suspension front and rear. I rebuilt the fork, replaced the rear shock, and spent an insane amount of hours last winter meticulously building it to where is is now: full XT M739, ceramic wheels, 22 pounds. Easily my favorite bike.😎 The DBR Axis Pro TT Titanium started as a DBR WCF Vertex I bought to flip. Rebuilt the Manitou Comp fork and then discovered the Axis Pro TT Ti frame on eBay; after thinking about it for 3.2 seconds, I decided to scoop it up and move all the XT/LX components over from the Vertex. Super easy & fun build. Probably my favorite hardtail (although I think it weighs more than the Y11.)🤣 This isn’t the end of my collection. I also have a Univega single speed, the FSR I’ve really been enjoying lately, a Jamis Coda 700c adventure bike I just built to get into gravel etc., and a Trek aluminum/carbon road bike for when the trails are too muddy or I want to get serious miles in. I think I have enough bikes now. Maybe? Not sure…🤣 What’s your bike collection origin story? (at If I Gave a TED Talk) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn60MZ_O6F3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Okay, so I had this idea. The idea being that what if Halo Infinite did DLC, but specifically, weapon and armor pack DLC for the multiplayer based on previous Halo games since Halo Infinite is supposed to be the last Halo game for the next ten years? Well, this is going to be what I think they could do for that.
I am going to end my idea for what they could do for the third and final weapon pack DLC with weapons being from Halo Reach, Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians.
UNSC Weapons
M319 Individual Grenade Launcher
M392 DMR
ARC-920 Railgun
M739 SAW
Covenant Weapons
Type 53 Plasma Caster
Type 52 Focus Rifle
Type 51 Plasma Repeater
Type 50 Directed Energy Rifle/Heavy (Concussion Rifle)
Type 52 Plasma Launcher
Type 31 Needler Rifle
Type 55 Storm Rifle
I think that if 343 Industries added the weapons I have suggested in these three posts, I think that they would get more players into Halo Infinite and they would get current players to stick with Halo Infinite for a longer period of time.

“When long range isn’t an option, most Marines and ODSTs made a grab for the M45 or other shotguns. Me? All about the M73. Pity the damn thing was discontinued after the War, the M739 just doesn’t have the same feel as the box mag designs.” (MCC now has Steam Mod Workshop support and someone put the concept art SAW into the game. Life is good.)

Homesick
You sat in your apartment, on the old sofa that wasn’t comfortable when you were alone.
The shirt you had on didn’t belong to you, but you’d stolen it so long ago it pretty much did at this point. Had it’s own hidden spot in your dresser that he’d known about, but never took back. It always looked better on you anyways. At least that’s what he always told you when you wore it, which was pretty often. Here and there you let him have it back, but never more than for one night. You only let him wear it so the next time you snatched it from the laundry, his scent would still be in the fabric. It made nights alone like this, a little nicer.
But when you pinched the fabric at the collar, raising it to nose, it didn’t have his addictive smell of cologne, a light bit of sweat, and something that was all his own. You released the grey fabric, and sighed. You hoped he’d be home soon, you weren’t sure how long he’d be gone. He never disclosed much about his missions to you when he left, just that he’d be safe, he loved you, and he’d see you soon. But every time he said that last part, your eyes would water up slightly and you couldn’t help but feel like this time, it could be a lie. But before he’d always come home to you.
But before his missions never lasted more than two days. This one had taken him a week.
A week of going to bed alone, feeling unsafe, depressed, and rather lonely. He was the only person you had really, no one to call, hang out with, even say hi to and waved when you saw them in a natural place like the grocery store. And to be honest, in this past week of sulking, you hadn’t left the apartment once. Not even to go downstairs and do the laundry. Mostly because you were afraid. The enemies he made, he always warned you about. Be careful, just wait I’m coming with you, simple phrases said throughout the day, just so he knew you were safe. Sure, you could probably handle yourself, he’d taught you basic training with knives, and even a little with a gun (which you didn’t prefer) and you were fine with hand to hand combat. But what if you left and someone attacked you, and you were completely alone?
You just felt much safer when he was home.
Your eyes landed on a photo on the coffee table, a single small piece of paper that you must’ve left there when you were practically printing out your camera roll. You were on this very couch (though in the picture it looked much more pleasing). He was laying on his back, you tucked between his arm and his side. You were half asleep on him when he’d insisted on taking a picture. Much to your protests, he snapped one anyways, kissing the top of your head which somewhat forced you to smile. You remember it happening like it was yesterday. Down to the little details of his growing scruff tickling your face as he’d later attacked you with kisses. You’d do anything to go back to that moment.
But no. You were sitting alone. In his shirt. Staring at his picture. Alone.
Hours passed until the sun had gone down and the sky became a palette of blues and grays. And seemingly soon enough, it lightened a little. When you’d finally moved, wandering into the kitchen to make a coffee, seeing that you weren’t going to sleep (again) the clock read 1:13. You rolled your eyes and scoffed in disgust. You hadn’t gotten a single night of good sleep since he’d left. But how could you? It didn’t seem that ridiculous. The man you loved was gone and you may never see him again, it would be strange if you did sleep-
Your ears perked at the sound of the key unlocking the fussy apartment door, then footsteps quickly making there way in. You rushed from the kitchen back to the living room, watching as a man dragged himself into the room and dropped his heavy bags of god knows what (M249s, M739s, Smith and Wesson throwing knives, ring daggers and your average pistols) as his back was turned to close and lock the door again.
When he turned, you swore it was agonizingly slow.
But his eyes landed on you, and his body visibly relaxed.
“Hey baby”
“Mi-Mitch” Your voice cracked and you were in his arms the moment he opened them. Tears fell instantly, and you almost didn’t believe he was back. “Y-you didn’t c-call me” You mumbled, looking up at him and his hands cupped around your face.
“I know, I know I’m sorry I destroyed my phone, I didn’t want anyone to get it and find you in there” His rough fingertips stroked over your face, brushing away your hair, your tears. Without a hesitation he crashed his lips down onto yours, fast and needy and tired. You choked against him a little, trying to stop your crying. “Sh... shh” He cooed when you pulled away, then pulled you against his chest and cradling your head in his hand. “Don’t cry baby, don’t cry” He murmured. “I’m here”
“I missed you so m-much” You managed to say between your panting.
“I missed you too baby, I’m not leaving for thst long of a time ever again, I’m not leaving you for a long time, I’m not taking another mission for a while” Your hands fisted into his jacket as you pulled off of him.
“Really?” He nodded, a small smile tugging on the ends of his lips. You yourself grinned, yanking him down to kiss him roughly and passionately. “I love you so fucking much Mitch Rapp” You mumbled against his skin, and he held you tight.
“I love you too y/n”
(so i saw ur pic of mitch and i was like... mitch. bc I haven’t written for him before and holy shit this was fun to do)

I've just completed my Winter Project #2, the rebuild / upgrade of my 1997 Trek Y11. Originally, I planned to just replace the TREK decals that were damaged, rebuild the fork, do new cables & housings, and that was about it. Over the last several months, it turned in to much more than that. It is now essentially a complete XT build. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I have yet to get it fully dialed on the trail - the saddle tilt isn't right in this photo (it needs to point nose down), I need to find the right ProPedal setting for the Fox Float shock (I replaced the one I had on there as I'm rebuilding it and making it my backup), and there are a bunch of other things to tweak. I'm sure some of this spec will change as I find out what works on the trail. I even have all the parts needed to return it completely to stock if I want. The way it is configured now, it should be about 23 pounds fully kitted, haven't weighed it yet. Was 24.7 pounds at the start of the project.

@robotic-beastmaster
“It looks human standing about six foot about your height in fact.” Zane explained. He’s never seen anything like it at all, most robots always have a strange design to them but this one has the most humanoid. Ava walks from his back holding some kind of light machine gun that looks primitive with Maya observing it.
“So you know that gun?” Maya asked while Ava puts it down looking at the text engraved on it.
“Yeah, saw it from the history books from Athenas. It’s called the M739 SAW LMG and it was used during the UNSC’s war against the corporations.” Ava explained looking at the weapon while the ‘robot’ is being wheeled in by Amara. It confirms Zane’s comment’s about its humanoid looking with its armor being tan and brown while the face has two circular lenses complete with two filters on the cheeks.
Oi, FL4K, Ava found something floating in orbit outside of the ship. Looks like it’s a robot.-Zane
“What kind of robot? Can you see what it looks like and if it is functional?” Fl4K wondered what kind of robot would be in space, let alone being near sanctuary. @multi-muse-transect
