Hi, hope you're doing alright.
Out of interest, do you speak Portuguese? You have that anon who you call Mariposa, and you've mentioned reading... was it Blindness by José Saramago?
If I'm wrong, or if you'd rather not share, you can delete this ask, but otherwise, I'd like some recommendations for books in Portuguese. It's not my native language, but, since I live in Portugal, I'm hoping to improve at it this year.
I don't really have any preferences when it comes to genre, but preferably something that isn't too complex in the language department. Just pick something you like!
Hii, Theo!!!
I'm alright, what about you? It's so great to see you in my inbox. I apologize for my late answers to everyone. I'm slow. 😭
As for your question, no, I'm neither Portuguese nor know how to speak Portuguese. José Saramago's Blindness & Seeing were books my mom read and adored; one of her majors is literature, and she’s a bookworm. I trusted her, and because it interested me, I also read it and absolutely loved it. I don't pay too much attention to the authors' ethnicity when I read books, so I've probably read books by various people.
I don't know whether the two books I mentioned will be difficult or easy for you to read, but I suggest you read them. You will not regret reading them. These two should already be quite well-known books. Other than that, Luís de Camões, Fernando Pessoa, and José Saramago are the first Portuguese writers that come to my mind.
I searched through my bookshelf and will try to recommend some books to you! ^^
Objecto Quase by José Saramago
Livro do Desassossego by Fernando Pessoa
As Intermitências da Morte by José Saramago
Mensagem by Fernando Pessoa
Os Lusíadas by Luís de Camões
I tried to write their names in their original versions. I hope I was able to do so. I know I'm not much of a help, sorry. I just didn't want to leave your question hanging.
I wish you good luck in your studies, and since you live there, I believe you will progress and adapt very quickly. I am sure the people you meet there will have better suggestions than I do. I hope you have a wonderful day! Bye-bye! (๑•͈ᴗ•͈)
