U.S. Army Stryker M1128 Mobile Gun System assigned to 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment fires a canister round at Yakima Training Center as part of Table VI gunnery qualification, November 11th, 2020.
The M1128 is a now retired American assault gun, and is one of the variants of the Stryker family of wheeled vehicles. It is armed with a 105mm M68A2 (or M68A1E4) gun capable of firing four types of ammunition. These are the M900 APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) round for anti-armor use, M456 HEAT-FS (High Explosive Anti Tank Fin Stabilized) for lighter vehicles and general fragmentation, M393 HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) for destroying fortifications and putting holes in walls, and M1040 Canister for targets not in cover. Ammunition is fed from an 8-round drum autoloader, with 10 spare rounds at the rear of the vehicle. Due to this, it requires only 3 people to operate as opposed to 4 people with the M1 Abrams main battle tank.

God I need WolfpackDan to be real
Bonus joke idea, WolfpackDan but the Wolfpack in question is multiple M1128 Wolfpack AFVs. The content is, somehow, still the same.
Last night, I dreamed there was this really popular youtube channel called “WolfpackDan”, and it was a guy who literally lived with a pack of wolves in the forest, just documenting daily life.
Now, I need you to understand that Dan was not some sort of Coyote Peterson type. He looked and dressed like someone who would pretend to get drunk off of non-alcoholic beer and say “bruh” unironically. He looked like the “bro I am straight up not having a good time” guy. But there he was, literally living in the forest with a wolf pack, recording and uploading videos with his phone.
One of his videos opened with him talking to the camera about “yeah, the pack went hunting today and just made a kill”. He turned his wrist to pan his phone over his shoulder, where four wolves are pinning down and tearing into a whitetail buck who is two gasps away from death.
“We’re actually hoping to make two kills today,” he added, panning his phone the other way to show two more wolves latching onto a second deer. “The Old Lady’s pups are growing really fast and it’s getting harder to provide for them. Once they can join the hunt, that’ll be a huge weight off everyone’s shoulders.”
He panned back to the first deer, where the wolves were now tearing into the meal. “I’m really hoping they’ll leave the pelt on this one intact,” he said. “I need a new cape. Winter is coming, guys.”
The last shot of that video was him running through the trees with the pack, with a still-bloody deer hide draped over his shoulders.
I can’t remember any more of his specific videos, but the gist I got from them was that he actually was a contributing member of the pack (hence the “we”) and had been raised at least partially by the wolves themselves. Not sure how they raised him into this dudebro-looking twenty-something with a name like Dan, but they did?
Where did he get his phone? How did he pay for his data? Who taught him English? Why did he dress like that?
I have so many questions for WolfpackDan.

How Rampart M1128 Sets a New Standard for the Cath Lab
A common issue Interventional Cardiologists (ICs) and their staff face is radiation exposure in the cath lab. Although aprons are available to provide additional protection, they can be heavy and not fully shield the professional using them. Additionally, the heavy weight of these aprons can lead to injuries. Fortunately, modern solutions like the Rampart M1128 exist.
Discover more about this new tool to protect health professionals in the cath lab!
The Growing Need for Enhanced Radiation Protection While less invasive cardiac procedures are ideal options, their rise has significantly contributed to adverse effects in radiation exposure for medical experts. To combat this, professionals came up with lead aprons to shield them from exposure. However, this isn’t a very ergonomic option and only covers specific portions of the body.
According to PubMed, interventionalists are at a 4.8% risk of radiation-related skin diseases due to their exposure in the cath lab. Aside from these risks, its weight adds up to 49.4% of the orthopedic injury hazard for the specialists involved. There’s also an additional 5.5% risk for cataracts and 4.8% for hematologic and malignant illnesses.
Several limitations exist to the available radiation shields and gear for professionals, including aprons. These can result in passionate professionals not returning to cath labs and helping those in need. Thus, there is a need for revolutionary options to continue necessary healthcare procedures.
What Makes the Rampart M1128 Unique? Rampart radiation protection can help interventionalists address work-related risks. Its innovative design is fully adjustable and portable to shield ICs and their team. In fact, this proven full-bodied radiation protection is a solution to the heavy lead aprons that can only partially protect them.
The product was designed to fit ICs and technicians unique needs in cardiac catheter labs. Some of its key features are:
No more lead aprons
Full-body protection system
Protects physicians and nurses
Easy to move and set up
Fully-adjustable panels
Efficiently stored
Multiple vascular access points
Small cardiac catheter lab footprint
Overall, professionals can make their cath labs safer with this innovative radiation protective barrier. They can also boost operational efficiency since it’s very easy to use in the lab.
Benefits of Using Rampart M1128 in the Cath Lab Aside from improved safety for all team members, the radiation shield largely reduces lead apron fatigue and related injuries. The device boasts user-friendliness and several access positions, including right radial, left radial, bilateral femoral, and bilateral pedal. Its versatility and effectiveness can drive your team’s efficiency and success in the cath lab with non-invasive procedures.
The device offers twice the protection with a .1mm lead equivalent acrylic. This provides twice the protection for medical professionals and the surrounding team. This makes it a more ideal option than lead aprons since these devices only shield the person wearing them. Professionals could also move more freely than using an apron. Products like the Rampart M1128 protect the team and shed the lead.
Supporting Healthcare Professionals with Cutting-Edge Technology The new Rampart protection device against radiation exposure has ICs in mind without compromising patient care. In fact, it aligns with healthcare innovation trends that aim to protect professionals and improve patient care.
That said, this innovation plays a significant role in promoting a healthier work environment. It addresses common health-related issues faced by interventionalists and their teams. By using it, the cardiac health field can conduct more non-invasive procedures that completely protect them and other staff members.
Common Misconceptions About Radiation Protection Technology Since interventional cardiologists are often exposed to radiation, there are several misconceptions about the tools they use to protect themselves. One myth is that the equipment slows down the procedure. This is actually false as the Rampart’s visibility and mobility lets intervention teams work more efficiently.
Another common myth is that traditional gear provides enough protection. While it’s true that it provides protection, most interventionalists are 2 to 3 times more exposed than radiologists. This results in a need for more comprehensive protection. The specified product addresses the common gaps and issues in traditional gear, such as weight, coverage, and mobility.
Setting the Standard for the Future The Rampart M1128 showcases different features that can significantly improve the performance of ICs and protect them in the process. Create a safer cath lab with no more awkward aprons, freedom for movement, and portable and convenient storage today.
Reach out to Wilhem Solutions for innovative resolutions and make your healthcare institution a safer place for everyone!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) If you’re curious about radiation protection in cath labs, here are a few commonly asked questions you might have.
What protective equipment is used in the cath lab? Several equipment can be used to protect individuals from radiation in the lab. These may include ceiling-suspended shields, table-mounted shields like the Rampart L148, disposable protective drapes for patients, and more.
Can lead protect against radiation? Yes, lead is a common addition to radiation protection equipment. It can protect individuals due to its density and high amounts of electrons to scatter x-rays and gamma rays.

A member of the Stryker family of IFVs that were adopted in the early 2000s, the Stryker MGS (or M1128 Mobile Gun System if we're being fancy) was another Stryker variant, this time mounting a 105mm gun, was produced and used in very limited numbers, while the US Army played politics over whether to adopt the system or not. While it would finally enter service in limited numbers in 2008, it would be replaced just 5 years later by the Griffin tank in the MPF program. The Stryker MGS would be retired in 2021 - 2022, with the introduction of the M10 Booker. The Stryker MGS was expensive to service, inadequately protected, and arguably not air-mobile enough. But as a beautiful, mobile, light gun system, the idea would survive, and eventually birth the MPF program.

By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN; Kano Govt drags Federal Govt to court over “intimidation” of state anti-corruption agency Kano Govt drags FG to court over “intimidation” of state anti-corruption agency The Kano State Government has dragged the Federal Government before a Kano High Court over what it described as harassment and intimidation of the state Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) by three federal agencies. This is sequel to an invitation sent to the PCACC and its officials by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Code of Conduct Bureau, respectively, to answer questions over the administration of the commission from 2011 to date. In an Experte Order, the court, presided by Justice Farouk Adamu, ordered the federal agencies and their agents to stop questioning or investigating officials of the PCACC. The court also ordered the agencies to stop meddling into the matters of the antigraft agency. The Order with suit no K/M1128/2023, further advised all the parties involved in the case to maintain status quo. The case was instituted by the Attorney General of Kano state, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission, and Muhuyi Rimingado (as first, second and third plaintiffs), against the EFCC, Code of Conduct Bureau, and ICPC) as first, second and third defendants. “Upon reading Motion Exparte, together with accompanying affidavit duly sworn to by one Khalifa Auwal Hashim on 28th August, 2023. “And after hearing Mr. H. I. Dederi Esq. (Attorney General of Kano State) of Counsel for the Applicant, it is hereby ordered that all parties to maintain Status Quo Ante-bellum. “Order is hereby include by way of Interim Injunction restraining the Defendants/Respondents from meddling or delving into the affairs or taking any step on, related to or in connection with the functions, duties and affairs of the Plaintiffs/Applicants,” the order stated. The Court also declared that: “By virtue of the Supreme Court decision in Nwobike vs FRN, the powers of the EFCC and other respondents to investigate alleged financial crimes is not at large and does not transcends all boundaries. “The scope of the powers of the EFCC are not open-ended and indefinable and does not include the powers to investigate alleged infractions committed at state levels where there are relevant penal provision. “The purpose of acts enabling the creation of the Respondents to investigate alleged administrative malfeasance or financial crimes is not to make a pigmy or to render other similar agencies and relevant penal legislations at state level ineffective, moribund, inapplicable or redundant. “The EFCC, ICPC and Code of Conduct Bureau cannot arbitrarily meddle or interlope into the affairs of the office of the Attorney-General or any other agency, department or parastatal under his supervision without recourse to the Hon. Attorney-General as the head of the Department or Chief Law Officer of the State. “The EFCC or any of the respondents are not empowered by their enabling laws to investigate financial crimes allegedly committed in respect of the finances, administrative structure and properties of state governments based on faceless, vague and nebulous complaints by meddlesome interlopers.” In the Originating Summons, the Court ordered that: “Let the defendants within five days after service of this summons on them inclusive of the day of such service cause an appearance to be entered for them to this summons which was issued upon the application of Attorney-General of Kano State, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, and Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado seeking for the determination of the following questions:- “Whether in view of the Supreme Court decision in Nwobike vs FRN, the powers of the EFCC to investigate alleged financial crimes is at large and transcends a
ll boundaries? “Whether the scope of the powers of the EFCC are open-ended and indefinable and includes powers to investigate alleged infractions committed at state levels despite relevant penal provisions.” The plaintiffs had prayed the Court to grant an Order: “Directing all parties to maintain Status-Quo Ante-bellum. “An Order of Interim Injunction restraining the defendants/respondents from meddling or delving into the affairs or taking any step on, related to or in connection with the functions, duties and affairs of the Plaintiffs/Applicants in this matter pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Motion on Notice. “An Interim Order restraining all the Respondents either by themselves, agents, staff, privies or whosoever, howsoever, in whatsoever way or manner from inviting, threatening, coercing, cajoling, arresting or in any way or manner interfering, meddling or interloping in the affairs of any staff or person under the services of the plaintiffs by whatever designation or nomenclature called, pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Motion on Notice. “An Order of this court accelerating the hearing of this matter by abridging time within which the defendants may file and serve their respective court processes in this Matter.” Meanwhile, the Chairman of the state anti-graft agency has assured that nothing would deter the commission from carrying out its constitutional duties. Rimingado told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that no amount of blackmail and smear campaign would deter the commission from performing its lawful mandate. According to him, the anti-corruption fight was in the best interest of the state and country. While reiterating the commission’s commitment to service delivery, the PCACC chairman pledged to abide strictly by the law establishing the agency. He accused some corrupt public officers in the state of frustrating the commission. Rimingado gave example of a recent development where a law firm defending a N4 billion fraud case petitioned the Inspector-General of Police seeking the withdrawal of policemen attached to the commission. ”The recent intimidations and smear campaigns against the commission are the handiwork of people with skeletons in their cupboard. “”We will not cut corners and we will strictly adhere to the Rule of Law. We are committed to ridding the state of corrupt public officers,” he said. (NAN) #antigraftagency #FederalGovt #intimidations #KanoState

“ No one ever needs assault guns ....”
“ Assault gun isn’t a real term ...”
It is. It just doesn’t mean what OP think it means.
The term is derived from the Sturmgeschutz, literally assault gun.
Arguably the m1128 Stryker is an assault gun.
I suppose this is a good time for the periodic reminder than the term gun includes artillery, and in certain fields you avoid calling rifles and pistols guns.
“ 5. I promise this is not a slippery slope to get all your rights removed. Actually countries with stricter gun laws tend to have more rights than america “
You guys have rights?
Arguably we have rights because the government signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but I don’t think there’s any case law, and I sure as fuck wouldn’t bet my life on it.
How many kids have to die before background checks are required? How many kids have to do die before a waiting period is implemented? How many kids have to die before mandatory gun safety courses are required? How many kids have to die before we ban assault guns and limit the number of guns a person can own? How much innocent blood must be shed until we ban guns?

my favorite military vehicle is the M1128 Stryker mobile gun system , because its so cool looking mostly, but also because it kinda sucks!
-it was designed without AirConditioning, so when it was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq the crews had to wear special cooling vests
-the stryker M1126 infantry carrier vehicle has 2 crew and 9 infantry dismounts, but 105mm gun in the M1128 mgs takes up so much space that it has 3 crew with no infantry and is apparently cramped inside as well
followers, the time has come
wat is your favorite military vehicle?
it can be of any type- tanks, apc's, armored cars, planes/jets, boats/carriers, submarines, drones, etc
it can be from any time period, including prototype or experimental designs (object 287 fans rise up!)
make sure to include why its your favorite as well as a picture, and 1 or 2 fun facts if you'd leik!

Reducing Work-Related Injuries in the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab
Work-related injuries in the Cardiac Catheterisation (cath) lab have been a growing concern for healthcare professionals. After all, they often lead to reduced efficiency and long-term health issues. Fortunately, implementing ergonomic solutions and advanced technology, like Rampart IC, can help reduce these risks. At Wilhelm, we provide radiation protection and enhance procedural safety while reducing orthopaedic strain with the Rampart system. It's been revolutionising the safety of cath labs, and we'll discuss how it can also benefit your lab below.
The Problem: Work-Related Injuries in the Cath Lab Interventionalists and their teams often face a high risk of work-related injuries, especially in the cath lab. Aside from long hours of standing, they also need to wear lead aprons daily.
For years, interventionalists have relied on lead aprons to protect themselves against radiation. However, these aprons can weigh about 12 kilograms. Wearing them for eight hours a day, five times a week, can lead to health concerns like fatigue, musculoskeletal disorders, and chronic pain.
According to a study on Enhancing Occupational Safety in the X-Ray Laboratory, 84% of interventionalists have experienced one or more work-related orthopaedic injuries. Over time, these injuries can lead to long-term health complications that may require surgery or early retirement. That said, addressing these concerns is important so medical professionals can perform better and provide better patient care.
Traditional Solutions and Their Limitations In cath labs, the current practice for radiation safety is wearing lead aprons. These aprons are designed to shield you against harmful X-rays during medical procedures. While they provide some level of protection, they also have several drawbacks.
For instance, their weight can strain your back, neck, and shoulders, especially if you need to wear them for extended periods. Plus, their bulky design can limit mobility, making it more difficult to move around comfortably during procedures.
Lastly, lead aprons can only provide limited protection. They can shield you against radiation from the front, but they won't shield your arms and head. For females, the breast can be exposed due to ill fitting. In this regard, it makes them a less-than-ideal solution for radiation protection.
The Rampart M1128 Solution Rampart IC is a recent innovation that provides full-body protection against radiation. With the help of a reliable company like Wilhelm, we are able to easily introduce Rampart into your facility to provide better healthcare solutions for all.
The portable radiation shielding system consists of thick acrylic panels that you can adjust based on different procedure configurations. The panels are also transparent, so you can have a clear view of your patient and procedure while shielding you against radiation from all sides.
Unlike lead aprons, this system reduces physical strain since you won't have to wear protective clothing during procedures. Here are other ways Rampart IC can benefit you and your team:
More mobility
Easy to move and set up
Allows longer and more complex procedures
Longer careers
Choose Wilhelm for High-Quality Healthcare Technology Work-related injuries have been a major concern in the cath lab. While protective gear, like lead aprons, is needed for radiation protection, it can also have disadvantages. In fact, their heavy design can lead to long-term health concerns and limit mobility. Fortunately, innovative devices are slowly changing the way cath labs approach radiation safety.
At Wilhelm Integrated Solutions, we strive to improve medical professionals' safety and protection through advanced devices like Rampart IC. In short, we are changing the future of the cath lab environment. To learn more about our services, contact us today!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) If you want to know more about reducing work-related injuries in the cath lab, here are additional information:
How important is radiation protection? Radiation protection is a top priority in the cath lab since interventionalists and their team are constantly exposed to X-rays during procedures. Prolonged radiation exposure can lead to harmful effects like cancer, radiation burns, and cataracts.
What are the safety precautions for radiation? In the cath lab, the current practice for radiation protection is by wearing a lead apron. However, newer devices, like Rampart, are now available to improve safety and minimise health risks.
How does lead protect medical staff from radiation? Lead protects medical staff from radiation by acting as a barrier that absorbs and blocks ionising radiation. However, its weight makes it less ideal. Wearing it as an apron for longer periods can expose professionals to various health concerns and injuries, such as neck and back pain.
