★ @/onyourm_ark ;; bio chemestry major mark lee didn't ask to be bit by a radioactive spider. much less one that would make him have to defeat random villains when still carrying a bio chem career on his shoulders. he is insanely awkward but lovable, friends with everyone he meets but only close to six of those people. oh, and most importantly; he is your friendly neighborhood spiderman.

★ @/hyuckshot ;; computer science major lee donhyuck, better known as haechan is mark's right hand man. he has been best friends with mark ever since they were little and the first person he ever told about spiderman. he is quite weird, but has a way to make everyone love him for it.

★ @/hrenjunnie ;; art major huang renjun is the voice of reason. he met mark a couple months into their first year and has been his pillar ever since then. he is who mark goes to whenever he needs advice, or to simply vent about how stressful his life is. renjun likes to act like he is the most serious one on the group, but everyone knows he is just as silly as the rest of them.

★ @/sungie_parks ;; astronomy major park jisung is the friend group's resident baby. he was adopted by haechan on the first day along with chenle and has never let go of his older friends. he has had trouble sleeping soundly ever since he found out about mark's nightly whereabouts, perpetually worried for him.

★ @/zhnglele ;; physics major zhong chenle has no idea why he chose that career. he has always been good at math, but why he chose to make his own life miserable is a mystery to everyone. he is jisungs best friend, stuck to the hip at every given moment. he was adopted by his friends at the same time as jisung, his loud and extroverted nature shining through in his capacity to annoy every living being ever.

★ @/nanamin ;; modeling major na jaemin is the diva of the group. his outstanding appearance is his lethal weapon, and also mark's way in into his crush's life. jaemin is extremely friendly and caring towards people, which is what made mark gravitate towards him at a cafe a couple years prior. he can always be found at jeno's side.

★ @/leejenono ;; biology major lee jeno is a giant puppy. his eye smile and tone body have always attracted a good amount of unwanted attention, but did serve him right once. haechan's delusions of needing a body guard to get through college were answered when jeno walked into their lives next to jaemin, and they couldn't be more grateful.

BIO. hi margaret, i hope this email blows your tits clean off

i’ll make mike a proper bio one day, but today is not that day

she grew up here in hawaii and was raised by her two mother’s. she was a sperm donor baby rather than adopted, and although mika hates to think that her entire existence is due to some old guy doing what he needed to into a jar and some rando with a turkey baster, she’s thankful mostly. 

she’s never met donor dad and she never wants to, please see above. she simply wouldn’t be able to look that man in the eye. 

but her moms were her moms. they were okay. at a young age mika’s mama noticed that she was a bit of a looker and she therefore decided to get mika into some baby modeling and such. mika booked a few little local jobs, and quickly became a semi well known face around town. this only became bigger when mama decided to make mika the face of her small local business. mika’s mother owns an ethical sunscreen brand, which as you can guess is very lucrative in a place like this. mika’s cute little face has therefore been in like storefronts. in local commercials. hell, she even did little ads on the radio. at one point this little loser was even in pageants, and she got second place in ms. hawaii! like baby was a tiny star! 

she really hated it though. 

like mika just wasn’t a fan of the vibe yk. and she didn’t really have much of a say in the career path considering her parents got her into it when she was in diapers, and when she tried to be like !!! i’m tired of this grandpa !!! her mama was big emotionally manipulative, big guilt trip vibes, big ‘after all that we’ve done for you this is how you pay us back!’ vibes. mika was called everything under the sun for not wanting to be her mother’s little dress up doll, and we hate that for her so much. 

mika also hated it honestly, so she started acting out a bit in her early teens. she started going out to parties and local clubs, she started hanging out with older boys and girls, she started taking them drugs and incidentally she made a name for herself in a whole other way. her mama wasn’t happy about that, as you can guess because !!! mika represented her brand !!! what if this got out??

but mika didn’t particularly care if it got out tbh. she just wanted to have fun. she wanted to be a person rather than a manequin. and despite her mom’s best efforts to mediate, mika and her mama had a big blow out fight one night that resulted in mika being told to get in line or get out!! 

she got out. 

so mika has been living semi on her own since she was seventeen. couch surfing, mostly. for a while she lived with her older sibling, who is an wc btw, nudge nudge, wink wink, and then with a friend, and then with a boyfriend, and then with a girlfriend. honestly, sometimes mika would do a little flirting just so she’d have somewhere to stay the night. that’s until she finally saved enough up and found cool enough people to live with. now she rents an apartment with three or four friends, new girl style. this is also a wc, wink wonk. 

she’s now working as a lifeguard at the local resort. she’s pretty good at her job, but she mostly just chills out and re-enacts that WALK PLEASE tiktok all day with her little whistle. she also still to this day regularly gets stopped by people being like omg you’re the ʻōpuʻu lā girl !! and mika simply has to be like haha yes that’s me, and pose for a little picture. she kinda hates the reputation, especially when those little fan encounters inconveniently happen on a walk of shame, but honestly she loves makai and hawaii and she literally cannot imagine living anywhere else so. yuh, she suffers for love.

is allergic to bananas but will still eat them. 

a bit of a slut but in a fun and funky way. she’s simply having a good time, and i love that for her. 

the kind of person who lays face down in the pool and pretends to d word just for funsies. 

she’s poor, so whenever she goes to like starbucks or even the hotel she steals from them. like not anything serious but like all those packets of sugar and complimentary tea? hers now. the stirring sticks? in her pockets. the little bottles of shampoo and soap? don’t mind if she does. honestly, she probably even showers there when she’s in a pinch, just sneakily does it by snatching someone’s room key and returning it before they notice. honestly, is mike a bit of a klepto? maybe so. jj maybank pls interact. 

the kind of girl who tells strangers she loves them just to see what they’ll do. like she’s on the phone with the pizza guy and she’s like kay love you ! and when he says love you back she’s like omg,,, are we about to kiss rn ??

idk if this was clear at all, but mika’s mother’s brand is called  ʻōpuʻu lā! and although mika and her mama still haven’t talked properly since she left the house, mika still wears sunscreen every single damn day. you won’t catch her slipping on that! she reaplies once every two hours to, your girl is dedicated. 

omg i almost forgot, but mika wrote a fanfic as a teenager that is like wildly popular. like she’s literally having publishers like reach out to her wanting to smack that thing into like real life bookstores. honestly, mika hates the fic and thinks it’s stupid, but she’s not going to say no to money. i imagine that the fic was like ??? a maze runner fic maybe. baby has some class yk.

I don’t even have to say ‘’TBH’‘, because I am unapologetic about the fact that I miss the folk metal fandom as it used to be all the way back.

Sure, there was some shit, but that’s bond to happen when you have fans of many different bands mingling about (imagine you follow 10 SU blogs, each of which reblogs the same gifset; you’ve seen that gifset 10 times today. Now imagine you follow 10 fan blogs of different bands; you’ve still seen that gifset 10 times today, because everybody follows everybody. Oh, I don’t like that band? Imma reblog anyway, because my mutuals like them!). It’s a hell to try to nip bad shit in the bud (people still tried; that’s how the ‘‘dirty confession’‘ blogs sprang into being, because people didn’t want to deal with ho/r/ny fangirls on main).

But the shitposts! (bands... contributed to them, let’s put it this way; that was a wild time) The blogs dedicated to and sharing the love for separate band members! (I only included the ones I could think of on a fast notice; I was more into Finntroll than other bands back then; there are more out there). The gifs! Oh my gods, the gifs! Gifs of interviews, gigs, music videos... There were inside jokes about certain musician’s fire alarm informing him of his food being well done, or how a certain keyboardist doesn’t know how to have fun on the stage. There was art of that - and it was amazing!

(On the topic of ‘‘Vreth’s nipples’‘, it was a running joke in the fandom. That One Blog™ - that is still up btw, I saw it just yesterday - even has a notice in the bio that it’s a joke. That Other Blog™ which was, incidentally, the one M.L. found... yeah... no, I have nothing. I never really followed them, so IDK what was going on with that one; far as I remember it was definitely not an inside joke of the fandom; it was just weird and honestly really uncomfortable.)

Featured Writer: Keith Holmes

Keith Holmes didn’t always love to write. In fact, he hated it. But, determined to prove to himself that he could be not only a good writer, but a great one, Keith dedicated himself to the craft. Throughout the process, he fell in love with words and now has three completed novels under his belt and another on the way. Today, the unstoppable author shares insight into the process of self-publishing a book and discusses some of his long term writing goals.

You're a self published author. What inspired you to take the step of sharing your work with a wider audience?

I worked with the a self publishing agency and should have my print book delivered from them soon. It was more of a, "I know I can get published and it is one of my dreams to do so" kind of thing. Though all of my writing on Write the World comes from the complexities of my own psyche, Un-Holy Grail is a fiction, action, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure novel. I've always loved writing novels and I want to share what I can do with the world.

What did you learn from the process of publishing your first novel?

I had to be really patient. I started the process in early May and it's just now wrapping up. I'm super excited for when it does, but it's taking a while and that's something I had to accept. I also learned that all of the costs that go into self-publishing can really stack up. This has, however, been more than worth it—it’s been a great experience.

In your Songwriting Competition entry, you write about a specific city. Is this your hometown? Can you tell us a bit more about the backstory behind the song and the city it’s about?

The city is not an exact location but rather it represents the conditions of one’s environment. The characters in the story are a man and woman who fell in love and parted ways. Initially, their relationship failed and they broke it off. But then, they decided that they wanted something that the other person had given to them—the thing they couldn't get from anyone else. In the song, you can see the woman's perspective shine through a little clearer as her new lover notices something is wrong with her, but he isn't able to help that: It wasn’t something I needed, dear.

The male perspective is represented by lines such as this: Something that’s gone, lost to me. Was it there for you or he? The city itself can be compared to life with it's varying colors and ups in downs. It's a very impactful song to me because sometimes a relationship doesn't work out despite a pair of people seemingly being able to complete each other. That doesn't rule out the couple getting back together though.

In your bio, you mention that you almost failed a writing exam which inspired you to work on improving your writing skills. In what ways have you grown as a writer since then?

Well, to tell the truth I was never terrible at writing. I wasn't good, but it was because I hated it and found it boring. I was capable, but unwilling. A lot of the hard work I put in was purely out of spite, but then I fell in love with writing. I've already completed three books and am about 38,000 words into the third book in my Un-Holy Grail series.

What are some of your long term goals as a writer?

Conveniently, my long term goals are also my short term goals, I want to write and publish as many books as possible. I love to write and I want to tell the stories I have bottled up in my head.

If you could spend the day in any fictional world from a novel, which one would it be and why?

The world of Adventure's Wanted by M.L. Forman. It's a great series. I haven't had the luxury of finishing all of the books but the premise amazes me and it seems like a really cool "escape reality and have fun fighting things" type of world. It's a small time series, but one of the best nonetheless.

I started writing at the age of 15 and I recently self-published the novel Un-Holy Grail. I spend most of my time working, writing, playing video games, and editing the sports section of my school newspaper. I'm an avid reader. My favorite novel is Duma Key by Stephen King. However, despite my current love of writing, I despised it until about the fifth grade. But, when a teacher informed my mom I was in danger of failing my writing exam, a spark lit inside of me and I made the decision to improve my writing skills.
