Actually, I had a thought - since Tamaki, formerly Julio, is moving in with the Igarashis for now, what if, after they stomp Olteca's face in, the Demons driver goes to Tamaki instead of Hiromi? Since the driver doesn't seem to affect former Giftexes, not to mention that it would solidify Tamaki as a part of the good guys. Idk what Hiromi would get or be able to do, but hey it's just a crack theory ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Banana Fish (SPOILERS AHEAD)

All right. I know I’m probably super late to that party. PRobably not.  But who the fuck cares right? It’s time for me to drop my fave things of Banana Fish. Lol OF course you knew I would.  It made me cry. that’s it. One good point is that it made me cry to where I went get a few drinks. lol I loved the ending. But bruh...like...I dislike it because my heaaarrt. UGH.  An anime based in America, with a variety of people. Itwas...well drawn. And I was...so happy to see so many black people drawn properly. Hell, everyone looked super good. Nothing sterotypical. I didn’t think so.  The story was pretty fucking cool. Not gonna lie. I cried four or five times. Deadass. BUT YEH. A good...Action, Drama, BL. (Only like hints of BL, not many, but YOU KNOW WHAT IT’S THE BEST KIND!) I love getting shows like this. I have seen some artist make stories with action and shit and I’m liek “Okay...give me an OVA or series. Especially if its long!) <3 Anyone can fucking watch it. And still like it I guess. Unless it’s bad to you. They DO have like...triggering topics they touch on... like Child sex traficking. Trust me, if you don’t want to watch it, that’s okay. understandable. That shit was because Mafia ran it and shit. Lots of poop goes on in there.  They really did NY like that.  Anyway, onto the Characters (Some I will dog on. ngl)- SPOILERS BELOW. Bffs with Max. We love people that can throw a punch. Skipper- Baby Angel. Was like...Rue in this story. A trigger to everything. And just ajsfkdgl. I love him. Baby just too big brained. Gone too soon. Like foreal cried for him.  Yut Lung- I WILL SLAP A MUTHER FUCKER. Like the whole ass time, was whinning and I was like “BITCH, you didn’t have to do THAT or anything to ASH. LIKE you COULD HAVE been BFFS for all I cared.” He was jealous?? BOO HOO. FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL CARE. That is why. I am SOSO proud of the ending because he technically does. I do feel bad for his past and what his bros did, the scum, and you know that’s it. HE pretty, but I was pissed. a lot. BUT, bby Sing is his light maybe. Sing-   BBy. findings and themes

Based on our interviews, there were two key themes that stood out to us: the existing intergenerational communication gap, and the health issues the elderly suffer from. We initially wanted to make two separate videos to talk about these two themes, but we realised that it was more coherent to put the two videos into a single one instead. Themes:

The first theme focuses on the existing generation gap with the elderly. This is exacerbated by the prevalent ‘mind your own business’ culture present in Singapore (Peh, 2016) that has led them to become increasingly apathetic to the people around them as well. Through our interview findings, Julia, 65, the younger generation are often fixated on their phones and ignore the elderly on public transport, resulting in their lack of courtesy to give up their seats. Similarly, like Tom, 77, shared that the younger generation are often playing  their games and leave little opportunity to communicate with them. As such, our first video curbs this growing apathetic culture by highlighting the need to bridge these communication gaps. After all, with Singapore being an aging society with a rapidly aging population, it becomes ever more significant to reduce the generation gap and emphasizes the importance of social communication within the communities and between generations.

The second theme aims to highlight the varying health issues the elderly suffer from. We wanted to draw on this to remind millennials to be appreciative of their youth and current healthy state but also to make them aware and understand those who might be less fortunate in terms of health. As Singapore is a fast-paced, industrialized, and work-efficient society, impatience is becoming a norm due to instant gratification (Muther, 2013). People with health issues find it difficult to keep up with the rest. For instance, Harry, 64, laments his difficulties in contributing to the workforce because of his medical conditions as well as all the medical follow-ups. This affects people who do not have the physical, or psychological capacity, making them feel left behind. Others, like Jane, 86, who uses a walking aid to get around, complains about how the pain in her arms and legs make it hard for her to walk because it limits her movements.

Message strategy for our video

The message strategy of our video has two levels: to overcome the intergenerational communication gap existing between the younger generation and the elderly; and to push the younger generation to access the wealth of experience of the elderly, especially in terms of health-related knowledge. Firstly, we want to provide a platform for the the elderly in Singapore to share their daily experiences battling numerous health issues, as a teaching tool for the millennials. The varying health issues that the elderly suffers from include diabetes, general debilitation of health and difficulty in movements due to joints or muscle deficiencies. This serves as a reminder for millennials to be appreciative of their good health, and to make better decisions with respect to their health. It also raises awareness for the need to be understanding towards those who are less fortunate in their health. As a result, presenting the elderly stories about their struggle with their debilitating health increases the understanding and knowledge within current millennials of the former’s experiences.

Secondly, we want to change the millennials’ existing apathetic and impatient attitudes and behaviours towards the elderly. This aims to put ownership on the millennials to take action and try to initiate conversations with the elderly, since it is usually the asymmetrical communication in which the latter usually puts in more effort (Crocker and Kaplan, 2015). Our participants also expressed feelings of loneliness and isolation because of this intergenerational distance. As such, showcasing their experiences and feelings about Singaporeans’ apathetic attitudes seeks to change the  millennials’ attitudes towards the elderly.  The purpose of focusing on this topic is to bridge these communication gaps that are present in Singaporean society. By presenting the elderly’s side of the story through the video, we hope to facilitate the exchange of information and emphasize the importance of social communication across generations in a community.

These two themes aim to ignite a transition from passivity to empathy amongst those in the millennial generation to form unexpected communities as a support system, which serves as an alternative to the current policies and organisations available.

While we recognize that this is a complex issue, we hope that our videos would ignite a transition from passivity to empathy amongst those in the millennial generation, because apart from current policies and programmes made available today, a support network is paramount in acting as contact points that connect the community.
