(1) Gásadalur, Múlafossur and a shy puffin. Gásadalur is a remote village on Vágar island in the wild Faroe Islands. Until recently it could only be accessed by hiking on foot over the mountains. (2) Eiðisvatn. (4) Elduvik view to Kalsoy. (5) Syðradalur (Streymoy).

Nachdem ich am Dienstag mit Meerblick in der zum Übernachtungsplatz gehörenden Hostelküche entspannt gefrühstückt hatte, ging es zum Wandern auf die Insel Vagar, entlang des Sees Leitisvatn zum Bøsdalafossur Wasserfall und zum Trælanípa. Ein gigantischer Ausblick, allerdings auch nicht ganz günstig. Hier gibt es einige Naturspektakel, die auf Privatbesitz sind und für deren Zutritt oder so wie heute zu dem ganzen Gebiet man Eintritt zahlt.

Vom Süden der Insel ging es dann durch einen kilometerlangen einspurigen Tunnel in den Norden zum Múlafossur Wasserfall bei Gasadalur. Wunderschön war schon die Strecke und die Küstenstraße bis zum Ort, und dann konnte ich auch noch in aller Seelenruhe ein paar Papageientaucher, das Nationaltier der Färöe Inseln, beobachten.

Weiter bin ich dann zurück auf die Insel Streymoy in dem 5 km langen Untermeertunnel und von dort aus direkt weiter auf die Insel Eysturoy in dem 10 km langen Untermeertunnel mit Kreisel unter Wasser. Es ist schon krass, was alles möglich ist. Hier habe ich heute mein Quartier in einem kleinen Ort namens Æðuvík aufgeschlagen, wieder mit direktem Blick aus dem Bus auf die Küste.

Woensdag 5 juni

Gelukkig heb ik dit guesthouse voor 2 nachten geboekt, want het weer is vandaag echt bar en boos. Ik heb Urte nog geappt, want die gaat vanuit Sorvagur een boottocht maken naar het eiland Mykanes. Ik heb haar gevraagd of ze mijn kampeerspullen toch weer vanuit Vestmanna waar zij afgelopen nacht verbleef wilt meenemen naar hier.

Dat was geen probleem appte ze vanmorgen terug. Ze had een hele slechte, koude en winderige nacht gehad en vertrekt daar liever dan dat ze nog een nacht blijft. Ik heb haar aangeboden om bij mij in het guesthouse te komen logeren. Er is in de woonkamer nog een bed (bank). Dat wilt ze heel graag en de host vindt het ook geen probleem. Gezellig ook!

Eind deze ochtend staat ze voor de deur.  Ze pakt haar spullen uit (jeempie wat heeft zij veel bij 😂) en ze vertrekt vrij snel richting haar boottocht.

Ik besluit ondanks de regen te gaan fietsen naar een waterval , maar zodra ik er klaar voor ben hoost het buiten. Hmmm...ik verander van plan en ga toch maar een korte wandeling doen.

Ik loop in de richting van waar Urte met de boot zou vertrekken. Stom toevallig kom ik haar tegen. De boottocht blijkt vanwege het slechte weer afgelast te zijn.

We besluiten een kopje koffie te gaan drinken in het enige café wat in dit dorp gevestigd is en ook open is.

Eind van de middag rond 17 uur wordt het droger geeft de buienradar van de Faeröer eilanden aan. Urte heeft een auto en stelt voor om wat oo tijd te eten om daarna naar de waterval te rijden. Dat is een goed idee!

Om 16.00uur lokale tijd zitten we aan ons bij elkaar geraapte maaltje. Ik had soort aardappel gezichtjes voor in de oven gekocht, helaas zonder enige smaak, Urte heeft Frankfurter worsten en we hadden beiden een potje boontjes mee. Prima zo!

Na de maaltijd stappen we in de auto naar de waterval genaamd: Múlafossur. Het waait keihard en uit de auto stappen bij aankomst is al een heel gedoe. Gelukkig is de waterval echt heel mooi! Op de achtergrond het dorpje Gásadalur.

Na deze korte stop gaan we de hoek om, weer een stukje terug. Dat scheelt qua wind enorm! We zitten net aan de andere kant van de berg.

Vanaf hier hebben we een prachtig uitzicht op het eiland Tindhólmur. De zon laat zich opeens ook nog zien, wauw!!

We stoppen ook in het plaatsje Bøur zelf waar we vanaf het strand de laatste glimmen van de zon vastleggen.

Het plaatsje Bøur is niet groot, maar de huisjes zijn wel authentiek van de Faeröer eilanden.

Al met al sluiten we de regenachtige dag nog super mooi af!

Inmiddels ben ik wel gaan twijfelen of ik niet ook al as zondag met de boot terug moet gaan. Doot de staking is er weinig eten, de bussen rijden niet en het warm water schijnt op te raken. Daarnaast bieden niet alle campings tentplekken aan, terwijl op de website van de toerist informatie stond dat je er wel kunt kamperen met de tent. De afstanden worden zo wel erg groot om te fietsen...ik vraag nog deze avond informatie op over de mogelijkheden voor het omboeken van mijn ticket.

We drinken nog een alcohol vrij biertje die Urte ook in haar auto had liggen 😉 en proosten op de toch nog gezellige dag zo.
