Cinematic Instrumental Trio Caméra Share Calm New Single “Dimanche”
Formed in the depths of Montreal’s lingering winters, Caméra – comprised of guitarist, composer and producer Francois Jalbert; violinist, arranger and composer Mélanie Bélair; and composer, arranger and performer Aurélien Tomasi – find sounds, explore bizarre ideas and always seek beauty. Traveling between a murmuration of birds at sunset, a daydream in the Japanese rainforest in 1986, or listening to a sexy saxophone melody played by a dude in a leopard speedo inside a midcentury cottage while drinking a white Russian, the trio somehow makes sense. The main vocals and guitars on their newest single, “Dimanche,” were recorded during a burst of inspiration on a lazy Sunday. An accurate picture of the vibe that day, this song is a great example of what can happen when you give a musician some space and time.

CANADA: Lucioles-Théâtre magique (2017)
Théâtre magique by Lucioles
Guillaume Martineau returns with "Théâtre magique", an eclectic musical journey rich in sounds and sources from classical to circus, improvised music, jazz, rock all blended with taste and a sense for surprise. The title of the album rings a bell to those familiar with Herman Hesse's novel, Steppenwolf. The metaphorical magic theatre imagined by Hesse gives a good hint about the spirit of thw album: magical, dark toned, weird, energetic, sentimental, a vibrant world of fantasy built with passion and freshness by all 'Lucioles". Guillaume Martineau on piano is moving freely between the different facets of this world of imaginaire leaving a lot of creative room to his fellows musicians who each leave their personal mark throughout the album.. The music is flowing with finesse while the listener is lead to navigate through these musical stories with the curiosity and grace of a child amazed to discover the lights and the shadows of a life's journey. Théâtre magique is an enjoyable invitation to experience the musical world of Lucioles who didn't spare any of their multiple talents to warm your heart with their talents. Lucioles: Guillaume Martineau (piano-compositions) Robbie Kuster (drums-producer) François Jalbert (guitars) Simon Pagé (bass) Erika Angell (voice) Mélanie Bélair (strings) via Blogger http://ift.tt/2uKA2Ey

Cinematographic instrumental 3 piece Caméra release “Matsutake” inspired by “My Neighbor Totoro”
Buried deep in Montreal’s lingering winters, a trio of musicians (Francois Jalbert the guitarist, composer and producer; Mélanie Bélair the violinist, arranger and composer; and Aurélien Tomasi the composer, arranger and performer) sat in a room together. Accustomed to the crazy pace of working in the city’s hyperactive music industry, they might have been unconsciously looking to do something slower, calmer, and free from commercial constraints. Looking at the snow battering the wide windows by the train tracks, they spent the afternoon playing around with what was in the room: a slide whistle, a Juno, and some guitar pedals. The table was set for what would become Caméra.
“Matsutake” is a species of mushroom that grows in East Asia, but also in Quebec. It is prized in Japanese cuisine for its distinct spicy-aromatic odor.
The new single is inspired by the famous scene from the film My Neighbor Totoro, where Totoro and Satsuke wait for the Catbus in the pouring rain. The piece paves its own unique soundscape blending 1980’s synth with organic instrumentation.

Caméra Debut Strong New Single “Le Philtre”
Buried deep in Montreal’s lingering winters, a trio of musicians sat in a room together: Francois Jalbert the guitarist, composer and producer; Mélanie Bélair the violinist, arranger and composer; and Aurélien Tomasi the composer, arranger and performer, specializing in wind instruments. Together as Caméra, the trio spent time finding sounds, exploring bizarre ideas, but always seeking beauty.
A philtre is a love potion for which Caméra’s song is named after; the music just as intoxicating and passionate. The musicians were inspired by the atmosphere of the French film Betty Blue, when the saxophonist wandered a coastal town.
The music evokes sensuality and psychedelia in a playful tone, with a psychedelic turn of the piece after the first chorus.
