DS9 and Babylon 5 have ruined me because I just can't take sci-fi shows seriously unless there's regularly conversations about fictional political and religious minutiae.

Don't worry Lochley I will watch it with you (tis a very good show)

Made this with pen and paper for a comics class I took! Very thinly veiled metaphor for neurodivergence. Might make more with the character in the future.

folks who skipped s01 of babylon five will never truly get how funny the sinclair-sheridan transition really is.
like sinclair is a 6' tall man with kind brown eyes and a tragic backstory whose presence commands the room without him even saying anything. he solves diplomatic conflicts with a wave of his hand. he's so mysterious. he's larger than life. he's a reincarnated alien. the universe rests on his shoulders. what can't he do. sheridan rolls in bag full of shirts in cute colors, rambles about oranges, gives a speech to an empty deck, delegates negotiation duties to his least diplomatic staff member, who immediately starts a civil war (I'm sorry susan we love you but my god), gets locked out of his own flat. is he ok. can we put him on the heater to dry

I miss when sci fi was allowed to be goofy and weird and long running, with a lot of daily life plots and silly costumes and fun real sets.
nowadays it's trying so hard to be prestige television, and intelligent, without realizing that the best sci fi could be that AND ridiculous. it's all CGI and brooding and people being sad on sad looking gray planets.
I also dislike how modern sci fi is dystopian this, dystopian that.
you know, farscape is technically a dystopia, but it still let itself be a fun one.
maybe your dystopian sci fi needs puppets.

Every time I see this blog I think of it as a joint venture between the Religious Caste and Worker Caste of the Minbari Federation

Deep beneath the ocean’s surface, this homebody holds tight to the rocky seafloor. While most other sea cucumbers meander across the seafloor, the armored sea cucumber (Psolus squamatus) is a sedentary species.
A flat underside acts like a suction cup, gripping the bottom and rarely letting go. Psolus cannot outrun predators. Instead, tough, hardened scales cover their body, serving as protective armor. A low profile and muted color help too—with their tentacles tucked in, Psolus looks like a rock to a crab that walks past.

The armored sea cucumber unfurls long, finely branched tentacles covered in sticky mucus to collect tiny plankton and bits of organic material in the water column. A mouth in the center of those tentacles slurps up each tentacle’s catch.
Sometimes, we see fields of armored sea cucumbers covering the rocky walls of Monterey Canyon and the slopes of neighboring seamounts, where strong currents provide a feast. In fact, up to 20 percent of all animals observed on some seamounts are Psolus.
Learn more about this and other fascinating animals of the deep.

(I usually do choose aisle, because it avoids having to get past anyone for bathroom breaks. My goal on any flight is minimal interaction with anyone else. And even though I'd be right in the middle of whatever volatile interactions are happening between.... everybody in those two back rows, they'll be too busy with each other to bother talking to me. And I will have gained goodwill with Sheridan for getting him out of the middle of it and making his flight significantly more bearable.)

B5 rewatch: Spider in the Web
Telepaths are gifted and cursed in ways I can never hope to understand. But they're still human beings, good, bad or indifferent.
