Love was the law
And religion was taught.
•Oneshot(?)
!Angst!
Idol!Hanni Pham x Reader
!!!PILOT PROJECT!!!
Sypnosis:(will prob change) In a world where love was once a law, natural and free, you and Hanni thrived—inseparable. But when Hanni skyrocketed to fame, the industry taught you both a hard truth: not everyone is free to love. As the pressures of fame tore you apart, the love that once felt effortless became a sacrifice. Years later, a chance encounter reignites their connection, and y/n is suddenly thrust into the same world of fame that tore them apart.

(Posted this because I'm losing motivation to write and telling people I'm working on it puts some pressure on me to actually finish it 😜😜🥸)
Sneakapeeka:
You trudged through the bustling cafeteria, each step feeling heavier than the last, still weighed down by the exhaustion from band practice. Your mind was filled with the sound of chords and lyrics, mixed with your band leaders’ scolding about how you thought “play with more emotion” meant breaking down in tears in the practice room. (Then what the hell does that mean?)
Each note echoed in your head as you searched for a quick bite to eat before heading home. You needed something to recharge, but the chaos around you made it feel impossible to find a moment of peace.
Just as you rounded a corner, a sudden collision knocked you off balance.
you winced as someone collided with you in the hallway. You didn’t even have time to react before cold, sticky liquid soaked into your uniform, seeping through the fabric and clinging uncomfortably to your skin.
You looked down at the spreading dark stain, your jaw tightening as you recognized the smell of Coke. The day had been long, and this was the last thing you needed.
"Are you serious?" you muttered under your breath, frustration bubbling up.
"Sho- I'm so sorry!"
You looked up, ready to snap, but the words caught in your throat when you saw her. The girl in front of you, with her wide, almond-shaped eyes shimmering with genuine panic, was stunning. Her soft, flushed cheeks were tinged with a rosy hue as she stared at the mess she'd made, lips slightly parted in an anxious attempt to apologize. Her hair was styled in two neatly braided ponytails, the dark strands woven tightly and falling gracefully over her shoulders. The gentle sway of the braids seemed to mirror the nervous energy radiating from her. She wore a simple outfit—an oversized sweater that hung loosely over a pleated skirt, she looked like she was on the verge of apologizing for the rest of the year.

Song lyrics that heal/hurt my queer Christian heart
“We were born sick, you heard them say it… There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin.” (Take me to Church, Hozier)
“God loves you, but not enough to save you… So I just prayed and I keep praying and praying and praying. If it’s meant to be, then it will be, so I met him there and told him I believe. (Sun Bleached Flies, Ethel Cain)
“She keeps me warm. I’m not crying on Sunday (love is patient, love is kind)” (She Keeps Me Warm, Mary Lambert)
“Oh, what a terrible honor it’s been, to learn that my blessings are things you call sins. I’ll spend the rest of my life tearing down the Jesus from Texas you put in a crown. But I won’t give up on you.” (Jesus from Texas, Semler)
“I feel when I question my skin starts to burn. Why does my skin start to burn?… Love was the law and religion was taught” (Fable, Gigi Perez)

RP MEMES TAKEN FROM LYRICS FROM GIGI PEREZ’ SONGS - edited slightly to fit a roleplaying format.
tw: mentions of religion / religious themes.
I saw her in the rightest way.
and then she came up to my knees begging.
baby would you please, do the things you said you’d do to me ?
won’t you kiss me on the mouth and love me like a sailor ?
and when you get a taste, can you tell me what’s my flavor ?
I don’t believe in god, but I believe that you’re my savior.
and when we’re getting dirty i forget all that is wrong.
I sleep so i can see you, cause i hate to wait so long.
and i hate to wait so long.
the kind of thing that makes you proud that nothing else had ever worked out.
and lately I’ve tried other things, but nothing can capture the sting, of the venom she’s gonna spit out right now.
and we can run away to the walls inside your house.
I can be the cat, you can be the mouse.
and we can laugh off things that we know nothing about.
we can go forever, until you wanna sit it out.
it’s easy running through your hair, like fields of poppies in salt air.
you said to me you won’t share, and i said i would never dare.
I stared at you the way i do.
i want something else from you.
you say, “ don’t you go beg and plead. “
i think i've seen this love before.
i think i've seen this face before.
my interest is to lay with you, to laugh and have nothing to do.
how else can it be proved to you that i'm devout ?
my interest is to bathe with you.
oh, please be rude.
fable and truth. everything, it contradicts.
it's so rare that somebody'd look out for you.
divinity says, " destiny can't be earned or returned. "
i feel when i question my skin starts to burn.
love was the law and religion was taught, i'm not bought.
feel when we argue our skin starts to rot.
you start singing, mama. you start singing.
you can sing any song you want.
so share me your plan.
if i implore you, could i be your lamb ?
and i look into the open sky.
stars blink like my sister's eyes.
stars blink like her eyes.
that's why we get along so well, my darling.
you know i hate to give you such a hard time.
but you know i hate when people got what's mine.
tell me that you meant it when you said, there was no else you were thinking of back then.
and i know you said you didn't mean to make me cry.
sometimes i wonder.

"i feel when we argue our skin starts to rot"
- Fable by Gigi Perez
my unhinged analysis of this lyric because i am soso totally sane !! (i hope my english teacher would be proud)
to me, provided that the song is about the entire queer community's experience, this lyric is referring to discourse within the lgbtqia community, like for example, neopronouns (which are super cool !) or the hate that lesbians who use they/he get. Gigi Perez is emphasising how this sort of discourse is useless and will kill our already-minority community, by saying that these arguments are causing us to "rot".
by using the collective pronouns "we" and "our skin" it enforces the fact that this is a community, and that no matter in which way someone is queer, we are all one in the same--queer discourse ("when we argue") will always mutually distructive for both the accusers and the victims, because at the end of the day it is "our skin."
another thing is the verb "rot".
it implies that "we" are organic material, like fruits and nature, which sends the message that being queer is natural--a theme which is relevant throughout the entire song (i.e. "love was the law and religion was taught). furthermore, the comparison of organic material and queerness suggests a beauty to being queer, with the implication of bright, colourful foliage, and sweet fruits (haha), which suggests energy and natural beauty (as well as maybe referencing different pride flags, though this is a bit more farfetched.)
now onto the more negative implications of the verb "rot". the process of rotting is slow, and not only that, but it isn't inflicted by anything directly human-ish, like cutting a plant, or burning it.
the slowness of rotting is referencing the history of discourse among queer people, for example gayness being normalised in men in ancient greece, but lesbianism being some unthinkable crime, or the heavy stigma that bisexual people used to face from gay people for not "picking a side" or "faking queerness". division among the queer community has been historically present (albeit because labels under the "queer" have not always been grouped under this umbrella), therefore the we have been "rotting" for a long time and will only keep doing so if we don't collectively get our shit together.
to continue, rotting is a process that occurs naturally to an extent, therefore Perez's choice to use it enforces the idea that the queer community is being hurt by its own hand, rather than an external (human/societal/not-queer majority's) force outside of our minority's community.
erm. well, i've ran out of stuff to say. idk how to end this post.
queer lives matter, look after your queer friends, and if you are queer, look after eachother !!! especially now, when the lgbtq community is facing so much oppression from outside ourselves, it is NOT the time for inside discourse !!!

Nothing but respect for Gigi Perez who fairly recently (in the past few months) released "Sailor Song"
A lot of folks from the wrong crowd got very up in arms over the lyrics "I don't believe in god, but I believe that you're my savior"
And now she's teasing a new song "capital loss" and some of the only lyrics we have from it are "love was the law and religion was taught but I am not bought"
And idk. Very swag of her to show she's not backing down.
Anyway go stream "Sailor Song" b Gigi Perez it's very good and very lesbian
