Okay I’ve never sent a question in to this blog before, but I used to be a HUGE FE fan (read: Autistic hyperfixation for several years) and I need to admit something. I hate- no, DESPISE Eliwood x Ninian, and that’s not to be taken lightly considering Eliwood was and still is my favorite FE character. I’d ship him with Lyn, Hector, Fiora… just not Ninian. I hate Ninian as a character, and I hate it hate it HATE IT when people say Eliwood x Ninian is canon. (Sidenote: I like Ike x Soren but also have mixed feelings on people calling that absolutely positively canon as well.)

So my favorite thing about him is his personality, it's very endearing to me, especially the way he acts towards his friends

My least favorite thing about him is that he's kinda weak in the actual gameplay and he promotes extremely late

My favorite quote from him is from the last chapter so I'll hide that at the bottom so anyone who doesn't want to get spoiled don't have to

For the brOTP it would be a crime to say anything other than Hector, but I do also really enjoy his relationship with Pent and Lyn

My OTP is very basic, it's Ninian, but I love them so much. I also don't really like any other option, like Hector x Eliwood is funny but I see them more as a platonic duo

The closest thing I have to a nOTP would be Eliwood x Lyn, I don't really think they feel like they should be a couple, but I don't have strong feelings on it

It is my headcannon that Eliwood really enjoys baking and often bakes for all his friends when he gets the chance

I don't really know if it counts as an unpopular opinion but Eliwood deserves more, for being the main character of the first game released in the west it kinda seems like IS don't really like him, like really, both Lyn and Hector are emblems in engage but Eliwood just has to sit on the sidelines as a bond ring? Like at least but him in with Hector like they did with Robin and Chrom

I have never thought about a song for him, but with a quick look through my playlists I decided that "I'm here" by Michael Shirt has Eliwood vibes in the way it makes me feel safe and calm in a way I feel like I would also feel in the same room as Eliwood

Just finished Blazing Blade Eliwood Hard Mode! Here are my thoughts:

Lyn is ok I guess but I don’t get the hype around her especially when her stats are like /that/

Her Sacae story and her pride in it is pretty cool character tho

Pretty cool design too I must say, that ponytail, outfit, and thighs?

Also her Str is pathetic she can’t one round stuff in late game so I ditched her, and the fun part is that she caps Spd so early on, but as they say, 2 x 0 is still 0

The cutscene with Eliwood holding Ninian and barging in like a hero: WHOOOOOAAAAHHH YEAHH

Boss abuse in that one Lyn chapter ftw

also I managed to kill her by tanking with Hector and bum rushing her with Sain and Marcus (should have used Luna ugh), and she lived but Eliwood dodged one of two of her double hits lmao so lucky 

oh wow we have to save Zephiel... that’s cool we get to see what he’s like before Binding Blade (except for the sad part where even though Hellene makes up with her son he still becomes evil so)

Zephiel and Guinevere as kids are precious and must be protected, they are siblings that love each other even though they are not and that’s so precious too

ah shit Ninian and Eliwood are semi-canon but I’ve already got an A support for him and Hector I AM SORRY

Amazing how Hector Hard Mode makes you turtle every map cos no one can tank more than 2 hits but Oswin and Hector (and yeah Marcus goes to Villages and kills a bunch of people on the way)

gonna A support Lyn and Hector because that’s how I planned it (Eliwood/Hector and Florina/Lyn in Eliwood and Hector/Lyn in Hector Mode even if Lyn is suboptimal lmao)

For a change of pace, do you have any fluffy Eliwood/Ninian or Hector/Lyn headcanons? P.S. Thank you for taking the time to read this question. This question loves you!

Eliwood/Ninian:

- Eliwood used to sing to Ninian’s baby bump when she was pregnant with Roy. He was just so excited about becoming a dad, he didn’t even care that he was off-key.

- Eliwood had every single painting, writing, or other media depicting dragons as evil in Castle Pherae destroyed, and had the education system speak more favorably of them. This was done both as a present to his wife and to hopefully foster better relations between the two races.

- Ninian did not originally know how to read, having grown up among dragons. Every night through their engagement to their marriage, Eliwood would sit down with her and help teach her how.

Hector/Lyn:

- Knowing she missed the Sacaen plains, Hector had an area of the castle cleared away and broken down into an outdoor garden, filled with Sacaen wildflowers. It would never replace her home, but it was an acceptable substitute, and she was very grateful for it.

- Every time Hector comes back to their room, grumbling and exhausted from the duties of a marquess, Lyn will quietly sit him down and massage his shoulders. She always ends it with a kiss on his forehead.

- When her grandfather finally passed away, Lyn did not cry at the funeral. After, when all the attenders had left and she was left standing silently by his grave, Hector approached, gently embraced her, and began crying for her, like how she’d done for him when Uther died.

The 10 types of people who use S-support in Heroes

"I stick to canon": Geneaology pairings, Marth x Caeda, Bartre x Karla, Sigrun x Tanith (they married in Heroes, okay?). Most of us have done one of this ships once or twice, evenmore if their alts benefit each other through buffs or different weapon types.

"You love my pairing too": Ike x Soren, Eliwood x Ninian, Minerva x Palla, Lyn x Florina, Raven x Lucius. 97% canon, and we'll protect those pairings.

"Their games won't let them marry": Chromdelia (a bit weird but I don't mind), Fates pairings that deserved more than friendship (LGBT+ rights!). Valid, basically.

"My crackship is cool": Camus x Titania, Narcian x Leanne, Joshua x Lucina, Ursula x Beruka. Probably the coolest people, who base the pairings on little details that their characters have in common, or just place them on the same team, and you often smile at their funny ships.

"Protect the BROTP": Hector-Ephraim, Marth-Eliwood, Palla-Marisa, Camilla-Loki, Donnel-Nephenee. Often better than romantic pairings, crossover characters that have cool interactions.

"Awakening family": they often forget about M!Robin x Chrom or F!Robin x Tharja, because they are busy making the whole family. You'll see Chrobin everywhere, often with the Grima version.

"This was my Fates husband": not bad since Fates has more variety in this sense. Some of them will make the family with Kanna and the other child, or do a "____ COME HOME" team. Extra bonus if they do M!Corrin x Niles.

"They are here to kill": Ike x Azura, Veronica x Olivia. Sometimes they end up really shipping them and making cute fanart.

"Lol watch this": Ike x Zelgius, Sigurd x Arvis, Marth x Michalis. We actually laugh when we see these ones.

"Please end my life": Mikoto x Garon, Valter x... Oh, I don't dare say it, you know what I mean.

I spend quite a bit of time wondering how a 2  route Fire Emblem 6 remake would work. Because I know I’d make a split from the start for sure rather than the almost negligible route split from Sacred Stones. It might need some rewriting, but I could see it working. And seeing how this became just an overly long train of thought kind of thing, I’m adding a read more so people can avoid walls of text if they’d so prefer.

Roy route working pretty much as it is, but not getting the cavalier trio from chapter 7 and Astolfo+the Ositia group as him (he’s already overloaded with characters at that point as it is). Rather, have them as part of Lilina’s group. Start her story with Barth, Wendy, and Ogier in Pherae already with her helping out with driving some bandits who made it into the castle while Roy deals with the ones outside, have her meet up with the cavalier trio from Ilia on the way back to Ositia (perfect chance for a few FE7 homages going across Santaruz, maybe taking a ship at Badon after learning of Erik’s betrayal and Hector’s death (Astolfo joining there), and going into the fortress between Thria and Ostia from Kinship’s Bond before reaching Ostia. Also, move Sue there and have her as a Lilina recruitable unit to prevent more Roy bloat, I’d rewrite it a bit so Wagner sent her to be locked up elsewhere just in case so she couldn’t be accidentally found confirm Orun’s death. That’s still 18 units in the Roy route vs. 9 units in Lilina’s. 10 if she got a merchant for herself, say, Anna, who I’ll be counting in this speculation since both sides should have a Merchant anyway.

(EDIT: Come to think of it, this leaves Lilina without healers. So, the way I’d fix this, I’d make Clarine be a possible unit for both sides. In Roy’s route, same scenario as the original chapter 4. In Lilina’s route, they land on Ryerde from Badon or something like that, and a runaway Clarine joins them being chased by Erik’s people. Klein becomes available for both sides. Adjusting numbers for it in the later parts now too.)

So then, going on ahead... I’d still use chapters 7 and 8 from the original for Lilina’s route, but slightly redone. The map from chapter 7 would become an escape map, with Lilina trying to escape the rebellion and that turning out to be a trap (plus Noah meeting Fir at the arena and her going back to the isles as per usual before shit hits the fan), and 8 would be the same for Roy and Lilina’s routes except the other’s army would be green units. Either way, the way it plays out would be different: Lilina’s route would be about breaking out and joining her army up to take down Legance (with Roy’s army showing up as reinforcements later on), whereas Roy would be the same usual charge from the original map. Chapter 8x plays out the same, same with chapter 9 for the most part (except only in Lilina’s route could recruit Fir and Sin). But then, instead of an arbitrary “visit village x or y from the route split”, Roy and Lilina would have clearer route splits. (Also, army numbers at this point for Roy and Lilina: Roy has still 18, Lilina 13).

And now we get to the Western Isles. Roy gets 10A and 11A, Lilina gets 10B and 11B. Roy gets Larum and Echidna. Lilina gets Elfin, Bartre, and Gonzales. Both sides can get Geese, Klein, and Thea. Chapter 12 is the same for both, except it’s the second talk with Cath for Lilina instead of her being outright recruitable at this point. Maybe adjust the recruitment options for Raigh so he can join either route. 12x through 16x the same, only making Garret a Lilina route exclusive unit. All of the other units joining you regardless, boosting up numbers on both sides. Army numbers at this point, Roy 33, Lilina 31. Unique units per route, Roy 20, Lilina 16. Compare to the bloat of 49 units for a single side in the game at this point!

And then the second route split. If you’ve noticed which units I’ve given each side, I think that should give you the idea of how this is gonna go. Lilina gets Sacae, Roy gets Ilia. I’d take the chance to just make a decision that may not be likeable to some people, but I’d make Hector x Lyn and Eliwood x Ninian canon at this point, simply because of the storytelling potential. Lilina’s mother having told her about those distant plains? Roy’s mother being an ice dragon and being all the more aware of that when he realizes how the cold of Ilia isn’t getting to him as much as his army? Good stuff. Either way, Roy gets Juno, Lilina gets Dayan, Niime and Yodel join either way on both sides, and we get to the fight with Zephiel.

The way I’d handle the endgame is very much the Resident Evil 2 A/B route way. After beating one route first, you have to beat the other. Roy and the Sword of Seals are kinda needed for the ending, so this is where I say: Time to have fun with the army bloat! Both armies join sides, and The Ghost of Bern becomes picking the best you have from both sides (the unique units from the prior run keeping their stats from that run, the common units between both runs having only the stats from the current run). And I’d increase the number of people to bring into The Ghost of Bern just to make it a bigger deal.

And then there’s other small changes I’d make like making Lilina into an actual magic lord with unique classes, and have Roy and Lilina auto class up after defeating Narcian in chapter 16 rather than the stupid, STUPID decision to have Roy class up so late in the game.

So that’s about that, it’s just me rambling on about something I hope we get next year for the 30th anniversary of the series. Won’t complain if we get an FE4 remake or a Tellius double pack though.
