it had just turned 8:00pm and you were home alone, you hated being a home alone and you hadn't seen mason for a week.. that was a lot considering you lived together. But he was busy with work and you knew it was important to him and made him happy, but some days you couldn’t help but have those selfish thoughts of wanting him all to yourself.

you placed your phone down after hearing a loud bang outside your window, you went over slowly to see what it was only to be shocked by a bright flash of lightning before you.

you took his hand.

"but seriously, i thought you had training really early"

Mason was like a drug to you and you were sure as hell addicted.

Book you’re currently reading: I just finished the ballad of songbirds and snakes. I loved the hunger games novels, and tbh, I was a little worried about this one. But the ending… Man. Suzanne Collins really did it. Now I’m very excited for the movie.

Last song you listened to: Sunset by The Midnight. That’s from season 3 episode 4 of Elite, playing when Lu comes down the stairs at her Valentine’s party, looking fire in her tux. Yes, I still listen to my Elite playlist.

Currently watching: DWTS- team Jason and Dani all the way. And Grey’s Anatomy reaction videos on YouTube. When I am emotionally exhausted, I want comfort TV, and watching reactions to a show I know by heart is very comforting to me. We’re talking season two of Grey’s Anatomy btw, with my favorite storyline: Izzie and Denny (that’s where my URL comes from).

Fic you’re currently reading: the house is white, the lawn is dead, a Shiv/Karolina Succession fic. And I’m planning to catch up with the Class fics by @dhyanshiva, whose writing is so lyrical and beautiful that I’m jealous and love it at the same time 😅😘

Next on your to watchlist: Buccaneers! I’m just waiting until most of it is out on Apple TV+ so I won’t have to pay for the extra streaming service for too long. Also Everything Now on Netflix. It’s a British teen dramedy that looks really promising, about a girl who’s just come out of an inpatient eating disorder clinic and is trying to rejoin normal life with her friends. I really want to check it out, but I’m also a little scared.

Current obsession: podcasts about TV shows I love. And perfecting the no body, no crime chapter of my Elite x Taylor Swift fic series.

Day 20 of the BAT: -30-

We are home.

When we sat in the driveway before leaving on Thursday, April 26, the odometer on our car read "21,764." When we pulled into the driveway an hour or so again, it read "29,324."

7,560 miles from April 26 to May 15, 2024.

Yeah, this is gonna be a short blog post because I'm gonna go take a nap in our bed.

We have to give a shoutout to the real star of the road trip: our Toyota 2020 RAV4 Hybrid SUV. When we bought it four years ago, we wanted a reliable road care, and oy vey, did it pull through. So much rain and nasty weather, but it kept rolling along. It really loves to go fast, too.

The only hiccup it had was climbing through Rockies when it said "I am taking a break right now." We had to pull off to the side of the road because we had no power when we pushed the gas pedal. After we sat for 15 or 20 minutes, it restarted fine and never gave us a hint of trouble for the rest of the trip. Toyotas are fantastic and reliable.

This pic was taken when we stopped to give you an idea of the altitude. The snow line is well below us.

Anyway, CC has started posting more details about the #bat2024 on her social media, and I'll get around to it soon.

Sincere question: Do the LL or FF ever get written as a single grapheme the way VV/UU became W?

(I am also curious if there's a difference in sound between FF and PH, as the linked guide's examples of "Four" and "Phone" sound the same in my California accent...)

What throws me is the Welsh LL is roughly "hl" whereas in Spanish, which I'm much more familiar with, it's more like "yuh" or "lyl".

as a welsh person i want you all to accept that W is a vowel because honestly it makes pronouncing acronyms so much easier. wlw becomes ‘ooloo’, wjec becomes ‘oojeck’, love yourselves and stop giving us shit when we tell you welsh has 7 vowels. english actually has 15 vowel sounds but because y’all only use 5 letters you have to rely on a spelling system devised by satan

We recently celebrated our 42nd anniversary, so Episode 175 of our podcast for writers is about the challenge of familiarity. We love to watch and read about new romances, and as writers, those books are relatively easy to write. Think Romeo and Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew (or 10 Things I Hate About You).

The steeper climb is writing a book about the older couple who’ve been together for decades and, over time, have developed their own language and culture. Unlike new couples, they can sum up a thirty-minute conversation with just a look. The reality is they often know their partner better than they know themselves.

How do you write a book about those couples? We have ideas.

Love seeing your answers on my dash! I've nothing but praise 😊 Thank you for always sharing info about POALOF and the artists themselves. I was reading the translated interview of Adele about characters being alive even off-screen and that got me wondering, are there any discussion about Heloise's sister? Though she's a side character, she was the catalyst for the main leads' meeting. Care to share some of your headcanons about the sisters' relationship?

Tbh I don’t really think about her sister much. I don’t have a huge imagination so I like to stick with what I see aha. But Céline and Adèle never talked about her either. Céline always said she didn’t care about backstories and characters who weren’t on screen aha.

But from what I can imagine I guess since Héloise went to the convent, and probably at a quite young age, she probably didn’t spend a lot of time with her sister. I still believe they cared for each other a lot since her sister wrote her a letter and apologized to her. And she literally preferred killing herself than sacrificing her freedom so that tells a lot about her. She was either living a miserable life and that marriage was just too much and she felt desperate, or she really couldn’t feel like living without freedom because she cared too much about being independent. Either way that woman was fighting for her rights and freedom. And she probably also felt bad to see her little sister go to convent and even more to know that she’ll be the one to marry.

So yeah I think both are very determined, in different ways though. Héloïse seems more a fighter than her sister, since she refused to do the portrait etc. She seems more rebellious than her sister who seemed more pessimistic (hence the suicide).

Or maybe her sister also tried to fight as hard as she could but she still lost. And suicide was her last option because she didn’t want to live a miserable life. And maybe Héloïse would have done the same if she had not met Marianne. Maybe the memory of Marianne and her love for her werr the only things that made Héloïse’s life with living.

Anyway I don’t really have any real headcanon so that’s what you get aha.

26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?

i guess i’m most nervous about my characterization, so seeing that praised is really comforting. aside from that i generally like to hear that people feel immersed in a scene/setting.

45. If you had to call yourself an author of a single genre (besides fanfic) what label would you give yourself?

fantasy? i am writing a campaign for d&d right now (which is what has me so distracted from my fic) and i am doing all the world, plot, and character building that comes along with that. if i had to write a novel it would absolutely be fantasy.

46. Do you consider yourself a diverse author?

this is a tough question considering i don’t have a high quantity of content. i struggle with feeling comfortable enough to write other cultures with respect, but i try. i’ve written all across the lgbt spectrum for sure as i find that easiest.

47. If someone you know in real life who isn’t involved in fandoms asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?

you mean like someone who didn’t know fanfic existed? hell to the nah

48. Does anyone you know from outside of fandom know you write fanfic? Are they involved in the same fandom too?

this is confusing so i’m going to take it as “the outside world” instead. yes! i have irl friends who know i write fanfic and support me. shout out to @coastalgirl113 who reads everything i write and gives me enough confidence to post it!

49. Has anyone in your life ever read your fanfic just because you wrote it?

god unfortunately yes. aside from the friend i just mentioned ^ i had a gf in high school who asked to read my fanfic for Victorious (cat & jade), and i have never been so embarrassed in my life. she didn’t have anything bad to say but i still feel like 😬 when i think about it

50. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive?

oh yes definitely. it’s been a subtle change over the weeks, but i definitely have become more self-assured, more confident in my abilities. i have learned to tell myself that whatever bad things i think to myself about my fic, they are things i would scold other writers for thinking about themselves. that lesson has actually helped me in everyday life too.
