Ugjhdjfj I love how perceptive Simon is, his respect for boundaries and how he stops Johnny when he gets too flirty. Dream man🤞🤞

Also, I keep wondering what Simon and Johnny’s conversations, when she’s not there, are like. Cause they’re obviously talking about her, Johnny def has Simon clutching his pearls with flirty comments on your body (😭😭). I love how Simon subtly asks if she’s single, how Johnny casually gets more touchy, just to see if she’s ’available’ (I don’t like using that word but I don’t know how else I would describe it😫)

Simon is definitely more reserved at this point, but I wouldn’t say he’s clutching his pearls. Just because he’s not openly flirting with you doesn’t mean there isn’t something going on behind the scenes. He’s more like… trying to keep you… ignorant. After all, you don’t know them yet, really. They’re just starting to crack through the ice. Available is an okay word but in my mind… receptive really sums it up.

Also yes, they are definitely talking about you. We will eventually get Johnny and Simon POV, including flashback of current timeline from future chapters (does that make sense?)

Asking out of curiosity, why don’t you write smut?

it’s just not something i’m really comfortable with. like i don’t mind reading smut, and i don’t mind writing a somewhat spicy scene, but i don’t vibe with writing actual smut if that makes sense?

and tbh i feel like there’s already an over saturation of smut in the fandoms i write for, and a lot of it tends to be either fetishizing or hypersexualizing of minority characters and assault/abuse, and is very clearly written for a certain demographic. and ngl a lot of people get really aggressive about smut which has bled into people disregarding my boundaries with requests, repeatedly telling me to just try writing it because it’ll “help my engagement”, sending me descriptive smut and sometimes rape scenes or straight up porn, and telling me i’m anti-woman or a puriteen because i won’t write it. it just feels extra disrespectful when i never see anyone asking smut writers why they don’t write non-smut, and the irony is not lost on me that it’s usually people who don’t write smut that get the sudden influx of people not taking no for an answer.

all of that combined with what i’ve seen some friends get for choosing not to write smut, or stop writing it, has just turned me off from writing smut indefinitely.

Something is wrong with Soap. Perhaps not wrong exactly, but off. It hadn’t taken Ghost long to realize it but it became difficult to ignore after he saw the man pluck an acorn from the ground and crunch it between his molars without so much as a wince. Once he started realizing the things that were off about Johnny it became impossible to stop. It’s an odd thing, Soap thinks, wanting a human. He’s favored humans in the past, and he’s currently quite fond of his Captain and fellow Sergeant. But he hasn’t, till now, wanted any of them. Though his Ghost is certainly a special case. or Soap is a fae in disguise, Ghost is paranoid but correct.

Jesus Christ you have no idea how hard I relate to darling. I would murder for a partner like Simon/Johnny, someone with that level of patience and understanding, it’s so difficult to find someone that understands how absolutely exhausting it is to constantly need to be reassured because you overthink everything constantly. And the depressive episodes?? God it’s all so accurate

🥲 Darling can be so raw and relatable for so many of us and I love that so much. When I first started Dead Disco I wasn’t sure how Darling would be received because she’s a bit self indulgent and the fic itself is my own personal comfort, so it never fails to make me so happy when others say they relate to Darling. I love it. 🩵

I’m sorry if you’ve been asked about this before, but I’m confused on the Ghost thing. Is he actually feeding information to Graves, is he not on the 141s ‘side’?

hiii no worries!!

ghost was technically feeding graves and makarov information, but he didn’t realize he was. he was looking through their systems to try and find info about canary and they found out and let him continue so they could watch him and go through his information without him realizing. he’s def on the 141’s side and def had no intentions of feeding info to graves!!

The new chapter??? I mean, every time I read your fics I’m completely immersed in the story. The way you distribute tension in the chapters makes them so interesting, I’m never at a point where I feel like the story is getting boring. (English is my third language if any of this is confusing I apologise😭).

And the conversation with Ghost?? I’ve been waiting for something like it, I’m really interested in your portrayal of him!! I feel like you’re one of the few writers who write him well, I’d love to see some sort of character analysis of him from your perspective. I love how humble he is with Canary once he realised his mistake, how he immediately helped her when she was panicking in the bathroom. I’m definitely gonna reread the entire series today😭

honestly i could talk about mr simon ghost riley for hours, i already annoy @mvtthewmurdvck with my ramblings about him sometimes LMAO but i'll give a little insight at least in regards to how he acts with canary for how i view him in this au!!

i think his biggest thing is loyalty and family. like since roba, the 141 are the only people he considers himself close to and there's this deep fear of losing them the same way he lost his family before so he does whatever he can to keep that from happening.

he's extremely suspicious of outsiders, like canary for example, bordering on paranoia that he can usually calm by finding information on someone and figuring out if they're a friend or if he needs to keep a bigger eye on them. which is what really set him off about canary. not only was she essentially a ghost, but she spoke russian (like makarov) and had the unfortunate timing of getting so close to price (a man ghost highly respects) at the same time makarov started moving in on their territory.

his suspicions about her kept getting raised, and, being as stubborn and dedicated to the 141 as he is, he wasn't going to just let her go without any information on her. he needs to know that she's safe enough to have around her family which unfortunately left with a bit of a one-track focus and open to being spied on.

it's his job to keep the 141 safe and he takes that very seriously. he's not afraid to do the dirty work and price kind of depends on that and that gives him a lot of power to work with. that doesn't mean ghost is heartless or cruel, though. like i said about the bathroom scene with canary, he knows when he's wrong and he's not afraid to accept responsibility for that. i think he has an esp soft spot for abused women and children, which only adds on to the guilt he feels toward canary.

all of this rambling to say, i think at the root of everything he just doesn't want his family taken from him again, and he does whatever he has to to give himself that peace of mind that he's keeping them safe. of course, he feels bad that canary got caught in the crossfires, and he'll help make that up to her, but he'll never feel bad about having suspicions about her.

AHGJHG i just wanna thank you for writing designer dress, literally the best, most well written series i’ve read on tumblr. Your dedication is crazy!! Writing such an amazing work available for anyone for free?? When I started reading it I was seriously amazed by your writing, I can’t help but wish I’ll get to that level sometime. You write the characters so well, both main characters and side characters have so much personality. Canary is such a well written OC, she’s such a well thought out character, far from what I usually see in OCs. I’m never disappointed by a chapter, the plot is so original and thought out. The pacing is amazing, never boring and everything you write has a significance for the plot. Thank you!!

when i started writing designer dress i genuinely didn't expect anyone to like it as much as they have and the response i get for each chapter has been so incredibly overwhelming in the best way possible. esp because this series has gone on way longer than i intended, i'm always so touched to find people still reading it and being excited about it!!

i will never not be paranoid about characterization, but it always helps my anxiety when people think i write the characters well omg it's one of the biggest compliments i could ever get!! even reader characters, while i try to make them vague enough for everyone, i feel like i have to have some kind of depth to their personality, something that connects them to the plot and makes it feel like it's their story if that makes sense??

all of this to say, you're an absolute sweetheart and you have completely made my day with this!! i hope you have the best week ever because you deserve nothing less 💜

Do you have an idea of where the club is?

oh that’s a good question and now that i think about it, i don’t actually have like a concrete place for where the club is 🤔 i just have like vague ideas about how far like price’s manor, the club, valeria’s house, the motel, and the adler estate are from each other

i kinda have a weird mishmash of like a new york/vegas style city that i picture and while i can imagine the adler estate being in the states, i just can’t picture the club being there so i’m not entirely sure where i would put it but now i’ll be thinking about this for the next week LMAO
