Lush 99.5FM will be stopping transmission on 31st August at 1159pm after 13 years. Whilst we have built a loyal core of followers, the listeners, who are supporters of local music, we have not managed to grow the base of listeners enough to sustain the operating costs of the station. But we are as passionate as you are about local music so we have put in place the Singapore Sounds project, which will feature local music, artists and gigs on other music stations, 987 and 938LIVE, as well as on 8days.sg. We hope you'll continue to show your support for the cause through these channels. In true form we'll be celebrating all things local in the month of August so keep your ears and eyes peeled.

After the highs of Baybeats 2017, this news comes crashing down hard on all of us in the band.

Lush99.5 and the team means a lot to us. They've supported us from our early days, played our songs when no other radio station would, debuted our A-Hole music video, pimped us as artist of the month for May ahead of our album launch and even hooked us up with their radio contacts in Japan.

They've been super kind and generous to us and so many within this wonderful independent scene. They've done so many novel ways of giving back to the community and one of the biggest champions of local arts and culture. This news really, really sucks.

Our heart goes out to everyone at Lush99.5. You guys have played a huge part in this current wave of interest in our local music scene, and now it's up to all of us to rally on and keep proving our worth so these big wigs get it inside their heads that we will never be defeated.

Listen/purchase: Summer 720 b/w 沙鼠E by Bored Spies Bored Spies: Cherie Ko guitar/vocal/keys, Orestes Morfín drums, Panther Lau bass) I heard this dreampop trio for the first time during Lush 99.5 FM's National Day celebration of Singapore indies. (LOL, they played Summer 720 at least twice yesterday that I know of) Recorded in summer of 2012, released in January 2013. They did some touring that year, and announced plans to record a full-length. Not sure where that project stands, but they did acknowledge on fb the inclusion in the Lush FM playlist. Their twitter account shows no activity beyond Sept. 2013. More info at KittyWu Records ---------------- More about Cherie Ko from doufuhua: Lovely… I just downloaded their EP from Bandcamp. Thanks for the recommendation! I learned in an interview at Other Sounds that Cherie Ko was in Obedient Wives Club, a band from last year that I quite liked. Thank you for the info! =D It looks like she's one of the two guitarists in that unit.
