Chapter 13, give it up for Chapter 13! Finally got some of the gang being cute together! Zenigata is questioning a lot of his placement with the gang and Lupin is an insufferable flirt!
TW: body image issues
“Yes…no, sir, I haven’t physically seen them but I know- no- yes, I understand, but I know them. They’re holed up and it’s in the best interest of your country that I stake the area out until I have intel that they’ve moved on to another country….I understand sir, I won’t let you down. You have my word, Mr. Alarie. Yes, sir, goodbye.” Zenigata sighed, hanging up his mobile phone as he rubbed his face.
“And who exactly was that?” Fujiko raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms as she leaned in the doorway to the kitchen.
Zenigata jumped, nearly dropping his phone as he turned and looked at her with wide eyes. “F-Fujiko-! Don’t sneak up on me like that..”
“Who were you talking to, inspector?” Fujiko walked in, frowning a bit. “Selling us out? The boys wouldn’t be too happy about that.” She looked at him sternly. “And I wouldn’t be either.”
Zenigata bit his lip, shaking his head quickly. “It isn’t like that-!”
“Then what is it like?” Fujiko grabbed his tie, pulling him down to her level. “Because we don’t mess around when it comes to sellouts, Zenigata. Especially right now.”
“Now, hold on!” Zenigata frowned nervously, holding his hands up. “I just had to check in with the French sector of ICPO since I’m only here to catch you guys. I’m not selling you out, I just had to check in.”
“And what exactly did you tell them?” Fujiko frowned, searching his face for any trace of dishonesty.
“I just told them that I was staking out a building on the other side of the country that you had all holed up in. And that I couldn’t leave until I caught you or until I had word that you had all moved on somewhere else.” Zenigata frowned, sighing softly. “I understand you’re not entirely trusting of me, and that’s fair, but I’m not selling you guys out. Not with Lupin in the condition he’s in. The last thing I want is anyone trying anything so soon after what happened.”
Fujiko studied his expression, sighing softly after a moment before she let go of his tie. She could play rough if she had to..but she really didn’t want to do something like that after Zenigata had been so helpful lately. She wasn’t someone who trusted easily, but Zenigata hadn’t double crossed them yet. He seemed trustworthy for the time being.
“Okay.” Fujiko nodded a bit. “I trust that. But next time, you tell us. Sneaking around will end up with Jigen putting a hole in that nice coat of yours.”
Zenigata smiled sheepishly, nodding as he rubbed his nape. “I’ll keep that in mind..”
“Good boy.” Fujiko smiled, kissing his cheek before she turned back toward the living room. “Lupin-?”
Zenigata blushed a bit, peeking over her shoulder as he looked into the living room. Lupin sat on the couch, comforter from the upstairs bed wrapped around him in his entirety, including most of his head except his mouth and nose. He looked a bit silly like that, especially since the house was pretty warm. What was he doing, exactly?
“What’re you doing, sweetie?” Fujiko walked over, frowning as she sat beside him.
“Oh, y’know..” Lupin shrugged a bit. “Just relaxing.”
“You’ve got to be hot in that, though?“ Zenigata frowned, reaching for the blanket as he leaned over the back of the couch.
“No-!” Lupin flinched away, curling in on himself further. “I’m okay..just…it’s okay, leave it.”
Fujiko frowned, looking back at Zenigata quietly. The inspector frowned, moving back slightly as he looked at Fujiko. Okay..so something was definitely up. He didn’t seem like he was physically hurting, though. Fujiko sighed, standing as she looked back at Lupin. She would sort this out.
“Okay, I’m going upstairs for a bit. Zenigata’s gonna stay here with you. I’ll be right back.” Fujiko said gently, walking upstairs.
She walked into the bedroom, frowning at the mess strewn around the room and the gunman and samurai in the middle of the closet looking through everything. They had basically emptied the entire closet onto the ground. She was not going to rewash all of these clothes just because they couldn’t clean up after themselves. She cleared her throat, causing the two of them to jump, Goemon smacking his head on a shelf.
“What the hell, Fujiko?! Warn a guy, will ya?” Jigen huffed, crossing his arms as he looked out at her.
“That would be favorable..” Goemon mumbled, rubbing his head.
“What’s wrong with Lupin?” Fujiko frowned, walking in. “And what did you do to this room? I’m not cleaning this up.”
“We aren’t expectin’ you to.” Jigen sighed, kicking a pile of clothes to the side.
“Lupin seems like he’s feeling…insecure…with his current appearance.” Goemon frowned. “We were trying to find him something comfortable to wear instead of the comforter.”
“That’s what’s going on?“ Fujiko frowned, looking around at all the clothes on the floor.
“Yes.” Goemon nodded. “All we’re finding are summer clothes, though.”
“Nope! I just found the solution to our problems.” Jigen smiled, pulling an ICPO hoodie out of the closet. “I forgot Pops was livin’ in here for two weeks.”
“That…actually might work.” Fujiko smiled a bit. “I didn’t know they gave out stuff like that.”
“Neither did I. It looks pretty comfortable…” Jigen looked the hoodie over, nodding a bit.
“Good. Let’s give it to Lupin and find him some comfortable pants.” Goemon nodded, smiling softly.
“I have some lazy pants stashed away. They should be fine.” Fujiko nodded. “I’ll go grab them and then we can get him situated.”
Jigen nodded. “Alright.” He stood, shaking the hoodie out to clear away any crumbs or spiders. “Then we’ll address any issues he’s havin’.”
Goemon nodded. “Let’s go about it gently.” They would need to be careful about it.
~~~~~
“So, why the comforter?” Zenigata tilted his head, sitting beside the thief carefully.
“Huh?” Lupin glanced toward him, pulling the comforter tighter around himself.
“It’s warm in here, warmer outside. I know you’ve fought off your infections so you aren’t feverish or cold. So, why?” Zenigata frowned a bit. “Something else is bugging you?”
Lupin frowned, sighing softly. “Don’t worry about it, Pops. You wouldn’t get it.” He rested his head on his knees quietly.
“Yeah? Try me.” Zenigata frowned, raising an eyebrow as he watched him.
Lupin frowned, sitting quietly for a moment before he looked away. “I guess I’m just not too used to you guys seeing me this way…pretty silly, right..?“
“No, not at all.” Zenigata frowned, watching him gently. “That’s not a silly thing to feel at all.”
“Yeah, but-“
“Let me finish.” Zenigata said pointedly, crossing his arms. “You’re allowed to feel however you’re feeling about all of this. It’s not something you chose or got to control and that sucks. It wasn’t fair.”
“You’re telling me..” Lupin mumbled, frowning more as he glanced at the inspector.
“But.” Zenigata put a hand on his shoulder carefully. “That doesn’t make you any less of who you were before. That doesn’t mean it won’t feel shitty sometimes, but we don’t see you any different than how you were before. You’re still the bane of my existence, whether you’re 100% yourself or you’re missing every limb on your body.” He teased a little. “It’s not silly, alright. Feel however you want about it, that’s okay.”
Lupin bit his lip, laughing quietly. “Thanks, old man. You’re pretty good at being a class A sap.” He looked out of the blanket slightly, winking at him.
“Yeah, yeah..” Zenigata blushed a bit, rolling his eyes. “I mean it, though. Don’t worry so much about how we see you. I know the others think you hung the moon or something like that.”
Lupin laughed softly. “Jeez…” he shook his head. “And what about you, Pops? Did I hang the moon for you too?” He asked softly.
Zenigata hesitated, rubbing his nape. “Ah..I mean…”
“Ha, I did, didn’t I?” Lupin raised an eyebrow, looking at him smugly.
“I didn’t say that..!” Zenigata blushed more, looking away as he crossed his arms. “You’re a menace..”
“I hung the moon for you~” Lupin smiled, leaning against his shoulder.
“Oh, my god..” Zenigata groaned, looking away as he bit his lip. “What did I do to deserve this?”
“Oh, quit playing. You know you love it.” Lupin laughed softly, resting his head against his shoulder gently.
~~~~~
“Hey, Lupin, guess what we found upstairs!” Jigen called, coming down the stairs with Fujiko and Goemon trailing behind him.
“Money?” Lupin glanced over, tilting his head.
“You wish.” Fujiko smiled softly. “It’s better than money, this time at least.”
“What is it?” Lupin watched them curiously. If it wasn’t money then there wasn’t much else he had hidden upstairs.
“Pops left his hoodie in the closet upstairs and Fujiko had some sweatpants stashed in another closet. So, you can ditch the comforter.” Jigen smirked, tossing the clothes to him.
“Wow! This is mine now-“ Lupin grabbed the hoodie, quickly wiggling into it. “These too.” He slipped the sweatpants on before pulling the hood up.
“I forgot I left that up there..” Zenigata mumbled, watching Lupin quietly. The hoodie basically enveloped him..
“Hey, we share the pants, Lupin! At least until I buy more.” Fujiko pouted a bit, crossing her arms.
“Fair enough.” Lupin nodded, smiling softly. “Damn, these are great.”
“Glad to see you like them.” Goemon smiled softly, watching from the bottom of the stairs.
“We’ll see about gettin’ more when we go back into town.” Jigen nodded, leaning over the back of the couch. “Just…don’t think you need to hide yourself from us or somethin’, okay?”
Lupin hesitated, smiling weakly. “Of course…I’ll try to be more upfront about stuff, okay?” He felt bad making them all worried and weird…it was bad for the dynamic.
“You better.” Fujiko nodded, crossing her arms. “You know you’re very important to us.”
“See?” Zenigata looked at Lupin pointedly, smirking.
“Oh, be quiet. I didn’t hang the moon.” Lupin rolled his eyes.
“Damn, has Pops been pitchin’ woo at ya?” Jigen laughed, raising an eyebrow teasingly.
“Oh, my god, be quiet all of you.” Zenigata huffed, getting up as he walked into the kitchen.
The group watched in amusement. They all felt the same, though. Lupin practically had hung the moon for each of them in his own way. And even if he wasn’t entirely on board with a lot of the healing process, they wanted to hang the moon for him too. They wanted to do whatever they could to impact his life in a positive way, especially after so much had do so in a negative way. Hopefully, he would be more upfront going forward.
~~~~~~
“And this is good for my skin?” Zenigata frowned, poking at the face mask he was wearing.
“Yes, and don’t poke at it!” Fujiko scolded, working on Jigen’s nails. “It’s supposed to make you look younger.”
“Are you calling me old?” Zenigata pouted, giving her a look.
“You are the oldest out of all of us.” Jigen shrugged a bit. “Not that we’re much younger.”
“Think of it as a compliment. She doesn’t let us use her masks that often.” Lupin smiled, braiding Goemon’s hair carefully.
“You know I could just start making them from scratch, right?” Goemon raised an eyebrow, glancing back at Lupin.
“Wait, you can-?” Fujiko looked at him, nearly messing up Jigen’s nails. “I’ve been wasting money on store bough expensive ones this entire time and you can make them for free-?!”
Goemon frowned a bit, crossing his arms. “Not for free, they take time and resources.”
“I’m not hearing any good reason as to why you didn’t make me any from scratch..” Fujiko mumbled, pouting.
Jigen laughed, rolling his eyes. “You just gotta ask him nicely.”
Goemon smiled softly. “I’ll make you some.”
“Thank you..” Fujiko smiled softly, glancing back at him.
“Do you do this often?” Zenigata tilted his head, watching them quietly.
“Eh, not super often.” Jigen shrugged. “But it’s nice enough when we have down time.”
Goemon nodded, feeling his braid when Lupin had finished with his hair and moved on to mess with Jigen’s. “It’s good for group bonding.”
“Sounds gay.” Jigen smirked, sticking his tongue out.
“You’re literally dating me.” Lupin snorted, rolling his eyes as he worked on getting Jigen’s hair in a ponytail.
“Exactly.” Jigen smiled, glancing back at him playfully.
“You’re both insufferable.” Fujiko finished painting Jigen’s nails, moving over to do Zenigata’s.
“Don’t worry, Fujiko, I’m gay for you too.” Lupin smiled softly. “Nobody gets left out in this group.”
“How does that-? You know what, never mind.” Zenigata shook his head. “I don’t know how you all managed to rope me into this.”
“Because you love us.” Lupin smiled softly, running his fingers through Jigen’s hair gently.
“I never said anything of the sort!” Zenigata frowned, glancing away. What the hell…
“Mhm. You didn’t need to.” Lupin looked at him, raising an eyebrow as he smiled softly. “You love us~”
“Oh, go to hell.” Zenigata mumbled, huffing. It would be a cold day in hell before he admitted to anything like that…
Stakeout Vacation (Part 1)
Established polygang with OT5, main focus is ZeniGoe. Zenigata is lead to and "forced" to wait with Goemon in a safehouse until Lupin and Jigen re-emerge from hiding.
"Lupin and Jigen are out of the country."
"What? No, I know that they're here, I just-"
"It is just you and I on this hill," Goemon's eyes did not open yet, and he did not move from the grass tickling his neck in the breeze. He simply refused to get up from the ground. "Take a seat, Zenigata. The clouds are lovely and you are out of your jurisdiction. I'm not wanted in this country."
He opened his eyes. There went a dragonfly above his face. The sun sat behind a cloud that was too lazy to move, and the tree above the pair was providing the perfect shade to obstruct the harsh light when it came back out. Judging by the angle, it was due to set within a few hours anyway. He hoped to be able to see the sunset with company this evening.
The inspector grumbled to himself and paced around Goemon instead of observing the lovely hilltop. "No, I know that they're around here, Lupin sent me his calling card from the mailbox on this land and you're here and I've been chasing you guys for a month now with no other leads, they can't not be here!" He stamped his feet and threw his fists up in the air, down again, venting his frustrations.
"I am sorry to disappoint you," Goemon sat up. "Not even I know where they went to. Lupin had me send out his calling card from here to throw you off...It worked. By now, I say that you and I will both know where they were when we see the news. Or when they come back and tell us themselves."
Zenigata began to curse and pace in a frenzy that Goemon recognized was building into a full-blown Zenigata Meltdown. He understood. A month of investigating to not even see the thief? It was a waste of time better spent chasing real criminals and upholding his suffering reputation.
"Would you care for some tea and soup? The cabin on the other side of this hill is where I am staying." Goemon sighed as he watched the lawful man break down. Lupin might have pushed their inspector too far on this one. "Zenigata?...You can stay with me until they come back. I believe that was the initial-"
"No," The lumbering man crashed to his knees in front of Goemon, seething and pointing a finger in his face. "You know where they are and what they're planning, don't you?!"
Goemon blinked. "I do not. I was purposely left in the dark on this one and am supposed to wait with you until they return. I was actually looking forward to-"
"So they're coming back!"
He deflated. "It could take up to a month. I don't know when."
His face fell, and Goemon feared he would have to comfort the inspector as he cried. "No…No!" His eyes hardened. "You know where they are! You have to! Tell me!"
Goemon did not expect the larger man to tackle him back to the ground and straddle his waist. "I don't know! Zenigata, I - WAIT!" His eyes widened, his hips twitched.
Zenigata was squeezing him. Large, awkward fingers were curling into his ribs and sides, and Goemon couldn't push him off. The sheer, silly absurdity of the action was what stopped him from reaching for his katana several feet away.
"Tell me what they're planning!"
"I don't know!" Goemon couldn't stop his ticklish giggling from escaping, filling the silent hilltop with loud, echoing joy. He tried to push the giant hands off of his torso, but they were latched on with a strength only the inspector possessed. He resorted to begging instead of killing. "STAHAHAP! Geddahff! I don't know!"
"I'm not stopping until you tell me what his plan is!" It was both a warning and a tease. Something inside of Zenigata began to melt away as he made the normally stoic samurai writhe beneath him. It was not only an interrogation, it was downright therapeutic after a month of near solitude and restless nights going over leads and other open cases. Side jobs he could use to keep his reputation in place meant brownie points for when his paid time off happened to coincide with Lupin's disappearances from the public eye. Goemon's laugh and smile were rarely seen by the inspector, if ever. Most of his focus was usually on the others when they were alone during these coincidental times between heists.
He had forgotten that behind the legends and crimes, Goemon was very human. He was pleased to see that a highly trained assassin would trust him enough to endure lighthearted humiliation only Lupin or Fujiko usually tolerated. He appreciated not being killed on the spot for it.
And if Goemon was telling the truth, which he probably was, then Zenigata had some time to wait for the other two to emerge from wherever they were. He forced his lips to curl back down, stopping himself from smiling. "This is no laughing matter, Goemon! You either tell me where they are or I'll drag you down to that cabin and tickle you until they come back!"
"W-waha! WAIT! Aha, get ahaff!" Goemon's eyes widened through the tickle induced hysteria. His arms had long since snapped to his sides to try and protect them, and he was wiggling from side to side. He managed to roll onto his side, then stomach, but that was because Zenigata had let him so he could in turn have more control.
He sat on the backs of Goemon's thighs and dragged his fingers up and down his ribs over the hanbok. "Oooooh, Goemon! I'll stop tickling you when you tell meeeee~! Where are theeeey?"
Grass strands were torn from the ground as Goemon tried to crawl forward and away from the humiliating torture. His elbows shot down with a squeak when those pesky fingers darted into his armpits, and stayed there, and Goemon forgot what the initial question was.
He couldn't stop laughing for the life of him.
"Tell me! Are you lying? Are they really down there in the cabin?! Awful mean of you to make me park two mountains away from it!"
"Gehehet ohoOOOOFF!" He outright squealed as Zenigata wormed his way into his neck, and no matter how Goemon scrunched it up the fingers found a new way to the sensitive nerves.
This was a distraction. Goemon heard the distinctive metallic click of a handcuff, felt it around his wrist, and that was followed by the other arm being forced behind his back to connect the two together. The tickling stopped and Goemon panted.
"Heheh," Zenigata chuckled darkly. "We're going down to the cabin. If they are there and you're lying for them…"
Goemon gulped as he caught his breath. "They won't be, I've told you the truth!"
"Then I'm staying right by your side until we find them!"
They each grunted as Zenigata picked up the handcuffed man and tossed him over his shoulder like it was nothing, and grabbed Zantesuken in its sheath with his free hand to stick it in a deep coat pocket. He started downhill towards the old wooden cabin in question, surrounded by overgrowth and worn down machinery from old heists in the surrounding valley. No wonder it was so far away from town, in the middle of nowhere.
There was the beginning of a crude path cut with a sword through the brush, which Zenigata figured Goemon had made, and he followed that down the hill to finish his hike.
One of his hands held and occasionally squeezed Goemon's knee, making the samurai grunt and squirm even more. "Stop moving. I don't wanna drop you."
"It tickles," Goemon spat out. "You're sadistic. That was an abuse of power."
He scoffed. "I didn't think you'd be so sensitive. Don't worry, I'll keep it out of my report when I'm done here."
"I have seen Lupin do the same to you before on many occasions," His mood soured further. "It's not an honorable fight when child play is involved. If you had fought me in a fair duel I'd have won."
"Maybe…But it's you," Zenigata minded his hands as they approached the cabin. "Goemon Ishikawa, the ticklish samurai!" He chuckled.
"I can walk!" Goemon changed the subject. "Stop teasing and put me down!"
"You can run away too, and kick, and squirm. You're letting me carry you. Why would Lupin leave you behind anyhow? What's his idea?"
"I was told to stay here and entertain you until they come back," Goemon's answers were coming faster and shorter. They were close to the front door now. "I'm not sure when that will be, but I'd rather not be tortured during that time. I'm not cutting down a formidable foe over something so trivial but I'm not above breaking Lupin's heart either."
"Hmph," Part of Zenigata already figured that Goemon was right, that Lupin and Jigen wouldn't be down there, but he had to be sure. He had been following the gang across Europe for months now, all small clues recently until Lupin's calling card with an address came in the mail days ago. "Is the door locked?"
"No. I was expecting you."
Without setting him down, Zenigata turned the handle and stepped in. Everything was in one big room with a hallway in the back of the cabin. The living area was nice enough, but water stains, dust and chipping tiles, and the aged appliances in the kitchen area told the inspector that the cabin was previously abandoned. The furniture was covered with dusty sheets. He saw the more recent cans and bags that had been brought and set on a table, but no signs of anyone else living here anytime recently.
"Nice place. Fixer upper. Do those doors in the back lead to bedrooms? A bathroom?"
"Both. There is a closet leading to a basement on the right, past the kitchen. I've been staying down there in case someone else found me first."
Zenigata set Goemon down finally, and he landed on his feet easily enough. Zantesuken was set on the table top. "Sit at the table, I'm looking around."
"There is tea on the stove that just needs to be warmed again," Goemon kicked a chair out and did as told. He respected Zenigata for caring for both him and his beloved sword, in his own way. "And I have the ingredients for miso soup and noodles. I'm denying you rice."
"That…still sounds nice," Zenigata perked up at that news - he loved Goemon's traditional cooking - and began a thorough search of the cabin.
He moved to the back bedroom first, checked under the bed and inside the empty closet. He noted that the bed had fresh sheets on it, and the room was cleaner than the living area. The same went for the bathroom that had been stocked with supplies - extra towels, blankets, toilet paper, toothbrushes and paste. It smelled of lemon-scented cleaner. No dirty grime in here or in the bedroom.
Goemon had prepared this for him meticulously with the intent to have him stay. Zenigata could see where the floor had been mopped. He felt a twinge of guilt for being so Lupin-focused when the samurai had obviously been looking forward to this visit.
He moved back out to the main room and was pleased to see Goemon sitting calmly with his hands still behind his back in handcuffs. "Stay put, I'm checking the basement," He grumbled as he passed the other.
Goemon glanced up quickly. "No one is down there."
Zenigata went down anyway. He saw Goemon's cot and empty cans surrounding a camp stove burner and a bag - it had clothes and sharpening stones inside, and calligraphy brushes. The cot was hard and Zenigata shuddered for Goemon's back. Much less care had gone into cleaning the basement than upstairs. Other than that, he found a few worn books and a dead radio that was too dusty to have been used recently. There were canned goods along several shelves, and he checked some extra totes that held moth-eaten clothes and possibly old disguises of Lupin's he would go through later. A record player sat on top of the shelf and he figured there were records somewhere, if they hadn't been sold off already. Amongst the boxes were inventions in varying stages of rusting over, and most seemed to be built of old salvaged metal parts.
It seemed this was one of Lupin's safe houses that he had done some tinkering at. Zenigata didn't see any blueprints, but then why would Lupin leave any behind?
He went back upstairs and uncuffed Goemon, giving him an apologetic peck on the cheek. "You really don't know where they are?"
He touched the spot. "Will you really torture me until I give you a fake location?"
The inspector sighed and plopped into the chair beside him, dropping his head into his arms. "I just don't think I can stay. Not without looking suspicious right now."
"Of course," Goemon nodded. "...But you know they will come back to this location. You could wait with me."
He perked up, lifted his head. "So I'm...and I can…Hey, that works!" He grinned and shot back up to his feet, pulling out a cellphone from his pocket. "I'm telling my superiors I'm staking you three out at an empty hideout outside the city limits," Zenigata paused before hitting the dial and gave the other man in the room a look for a few moments.
Goemon could see the wheels turning.
"...You're obviously not here," He said suddenly. "So be quiet while I talk. You're my ticket to Lupin and I don't want anyone interfering with us when they could be out there looking for him. Plus I…I appreciate the work you put into this place for my stay. Guess I'll honor that while Yata pulls everyone into the closest cities."
"I hope I am more than a ticket to Lupin. I'm making you food even though you tortured me."
"And I still might if you keep giving me sass. Might make you sleep on that hard cot in the basement another few days while I'm at it," While Zenigata made his calls, Goemon stood and started to prepare their dinner.
It wasn't just about stopping a possible heist or staking out a "possible" hideout. Zenigata hadn't been alone with Goemon in a very long time. This was obviously a set up by Lupin to get the police away from something big, while also distracting the best detective for the case with Goemon's (enticing) company.
He would keep an eye on the news.
In the meantime, he was set up with a free place to stay, free food, and somewhat pleasant company that he was mostly positive would not kill him later. This would do.
Here's some of my fanfics that I've written that I'm super proud of personally-
Universal Collision: My Tmnt/Rottmnt crossover fic. It's one of my personal favorites that I'm incredibly proud of. Despite it not having many chapters, I'm thrilled with what I've gotten down so far!
Of Love and Heartbreak: One of my Lupin III fanfics. It's a oneshot involving my favorite OT5 as well as a character study on Jigen Daisuke. Mainly the aspect of his love life and how his past effected him currently in the present. It's also one of my longest oneshots and I'm super proud of it!
The Roles We Play: Another Lupin III fanfic as well as my first one for the fandom ever. It's a fic that again is an OT5 kind of thing but instead it focuses mainly on the LupZeni/LupJig/JigZeni pairings. It also features an injured Zenigata and a feral Lupgang of which I love and adore.
The Princess and Her Dragon: A reader x Malleus fic for Twisted Wonderland. Basically it's a romance story that's got a twist in it. The main protagonist is actually a reincarnated princess who breaks a powerful spell that has been placed on Malleus and his group. Lowkey incredibly proud of this one.
The Dragon's Son: Also another reader x Malleus story but with the reader having grown up and leaving Twisted Wonderland. The reader accidentally takes something more with her though and six years later, she returns to Twisted Wonderland with her beloved son Elliott. Pretty pleased with this one.
My EngIta Week submissions: I'd been asked to join a Hetalia rare pair week last year and had a blast writing for it! I'm honestly incredibly pleased with how my little stories turned out!
These ones are the ones that I'm most proud of and are the ones that I put a lot of effort into them. While I'm proud of all my stuff, it's these ones that I feel like are some of my best written stuff that I've ever published within my lifetime.
Snowed In
Fic #15 posted on AO3 on January 10, 2022.
Summary: A sequel to A Winter Conversation, in which Jigen and Zenigata step back inside the house, and the group snuggles by the fire.
Word Count: 1552
"So did you two have fun?" Lupin asked as Goemon practically manhandled him to the couch. He giggled heartily, and Goemon shook his head like it was all too much for him.
Jigen and Zenigata were holding hands as they moved into the room, their faces red and tingling from the cold. Jigen looked ready to dive into the fireplace, his shoulders shaking, and his hat covered in snow. Goemon stopped him as he broke away from Zenigata, intending to dive onto the couch with Lupin to get warm. They both smelled like cigarette smoke and snow, their damp boots squeaking against the hardwood floor.
Goemon grimaced. He glared at them with a dark look in his eyes, refusing to budge until they left their shoes by the door. Once Jigen had his boots untied, he ran for the mantle. He fell onto the couch with the thickest quilt he could find and wrapped it around himself, sighing.
Zenigata decided to join him. He placed his jacket on the coat rack and strode across the room. Jigen didn't waste any time allowing him under the covers, welcoming the joint warmth of the quilt, the fire, and the very big man beside him. His skin was cold to the touch, and Zenigata frowned at him.
"You're frozen through," Zenigata said, once again wrapping an arm around Jigen's torso. Jigen burrowed into him, no longer embarrassed in the pursuit to get warm again. He nodded his head, and a bit of freezing water dripped onto his nose.
"I'm not built for the cold," he said. "I don’t like it, and it doesn’t like me."
"Then why did you join me?" Zenigata asked. He used a finger to wipe away the water, eyeing Jigen’s hat and wondering whether he could convince the gunman to remove it. "Especially if you knew this would happen?"
Jigen bumped his shoulder, hiding his face in the blanket. "I needed a smoke," he said. "…and I wanted a moment alone. With you ."
Zenigata smiled. He nuzzled Jigen's cheek with his nose and laughed as it caused more water to trickle between them. The display was so domestic and sweet that Lupin let out a round of bubbly laughter, throwing himself in their direction.
"You two are the cutest," he said. He tugged at the blanket. "Care if I join?"
Zenigata opened his arm and Lupin leaned into it. Zenigata put his feet up on the coffee table, hugging both Lupin and Jigen to his chest. "Take it easy," he said, looking at Lupin. "You sprained your ankle in the crash, remember? You don't want to make it worse."
Lupin shrugged. "Eh, it's okay. I have you guys to take care of me, after all."
"Which means you need to rest," Goemon said, joining them on Lupin's other side. He sat with them but didn't make a move for the blanket. Lupin moved it for him, placing it over his lap. "Is this really necessary?" he asked.
Lupin nodded seriously. "Of course," he said. "You're part of this group, aren't you?"
Goemon blushed. He looked away from them. “This is ridiculous.”
Lupin grinned at him. He gripped Goemon’s arm and pulled him forward. “You know you love it,” he said. “Now come here .”
He wrapped an arm around Goemon and burrowed his face in his hair, ruffling it. Goemon eventually gave into the affection, pressing his face down into Lupin’s shoulder.
“Aren’t you forgetting someone?” Fujiko asked, stepping into the room. She carried with her a glass of champagne; something she’d found in the kitchen.
Lupin whipped around, spotting Fujiko standing not too far away. “Of course not,” he said. He opened his arms, beckoning her forward with the opening and closing of his hands. Instead of joining Lupin, however, she stepped up to Zenigata, peeling back a bit of the blanket to insert herself between them.
She ended up sharing both Lupin and Zenigata’s laps, lounging with the glass in one hand, and her legs slung over the inspector’s. At this point, the blanket had grown too small for them to share, yet it remained on their laps. They didn’t notice a difference either way. The house was warm enough with the fire, especially with all of them piled on the couch together.
“This is nice,” Lupin said. He was tangled between Goemon and Fujiko, the warmth of their bodies tender and comforting. “We should really get snowed in more often.”
“Says you,” Jigen said, his voice muffled in Zenigata’s shoulder. He sounded half asleep, his hat drying on the table beside him. “I don’t want to repeat that crash. You scared the shit outta me, man.”
“It wasn’t that bad,” Lupin said, shrugging.
Jigen poked his head over Zenigata’s chest to look at him. “We had to hike through the forest in a blizzard . We’re lucky we found this place.”
“We’re lucky it was well stocked,” Fujiko said, taking a sip from her glass. “Who knew people kept vacation homes in Canada, of all places.”
“What do you have against Canada?” Lupin asked, giggling.
Fujiko shrugged. “Nothing,” she said. “It’s just boring. Not extravagant enough for my tastes.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Lupin said. “Have you ever seen this place in Autumn? The landscapes here will take your breath away more than any treasure or diamond could. I guarantee it.”
Fujiko scoffed. She finished off her glass and placed it on the coffee table, leaning back against the cushions. “Whatever you say, Lupin.”
“The view from the balcony is pretty nice,” Zenigata said. “It might not be the best in the world, but you can see the trees for miles. Even with the snow falling. It’s like a winter wonderland out there.”
“See?” Lupin gestured at Zenigata. “Pops gets it.”
“Okay, okay,” Fujiko said. “I didn’t know you loved this place so much.”
Lupin smiled at her. “I know quality when I see it, my dear. How do you think I gathered all of you?”
“Fierce persistence?” Fujiko asked. “You don’t give up on a prize when you see it, do you, Lupin?”
“I suppose not. It’s like I said,” Lupin snuck an arm around Fujiko’s shoulder. “I know quality when I see it.”
Fujiko allowed herself to be pulled into Lupin’s arms, slipping off Zenigata’s lap to hug Lupin’s torso. She adjusted herself so she could share the space with Goemon, tangling one of her hands in his hair. He sighed happily and leaned his forehead against her side.
“That feels nice,” he said, voice muffled against Lupin’s collarbone. His breath was warm, tickling the skin of Lupin’s chest. “I might fall asleep.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Jigen said, following in Goemon’s footsteps. “Not much else we can do, is there?”
“Oh, I can think of plenty we can do,” Lupin said. He waggled his eyebrows, and Jigen groaned.
“Not everything has to lead to sex , Lup,” he said. “Besides, you’re injured.”
“It’s not like I need to stand to do it,” Lupin said. “But you’re right. We can wait until morning.”
“If you say so, boss,” Jigen said. “Sleep, you idiot. It’s late.”
“You know, I think there’s a bed here,” Zenigata said. “I don’t think my back will like it if we sleep here.”
Jigen shrugged. “That’s too much effort. Plus, I think Goemon’s already sleeping.”
Lupin nodded. He looked down at the samurai and smiled fondly. “Poor guy had to carry me through a snowstorm. He’s probably tired.”
“Not to mention wrangle you from spying on us,” Jigen said. “He’s been babysitting you since we got here.”
Lupin huffed. “He wasn’t babysitting me.”
“Yes, he was,” Fujiko said, cutting in. She pulled her head up to look at Lupin, patting his face with her unoccupied hand. “It’s no wonder he fell asleep so easily.”
“Okay, okay,” Lupin said, frowning. “I get it.”
“Hey, don’t pout,” Fujiko said. “It’s part of your charm. You’re a lot to handle, but we’re used to it.”
Lupin shook his head. “‘Used to it,’” he said. “I see how much you appreciate me, Fujicakes.”
Fujiko giggled. She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Lupin’s lips. “Stop being dramatic,” she said. “Go to sleep, darling. If we’re still stuck here in the morning, maybe I’ll have a surprise for you.”
Lupin’s eyes brightened. He leaned down and stole another kiss from Fujiko’s lips. “Really?” he asked. “You promise?”
Fujiko laughed again, nodding. She pressed her face against his chest and snuggled into the warmth of her partners. “Only if you behave,” she said, voice muffled.
“ Sleep you two,” Zenigata said, interrupting them. “You’re going to wake Goemon.”
“Actually, you’d be surprised,” Lupin said. “Goemon’s a heavy sleeper.”
“Still,” Zenigata said. “It’s past midnight and I’m tired. We have a lot of work to do tomorrow, so we need to get some rest.”
“Fine,” Lupin said. He leaned his head against Zenigata’s shoulder and closed his eyes. “I’m resting. Happy?”
“ Yes ,” the others said.
And so they fell asleep, snuggled together on the couch as the snowflakes continued falling, and the fire crackled ahead of them. It’d be difficult getting out of here in the morning. They had a lot in front of them, but at least for the moment, they were safe, happy, and content; nestled within each other's arms.
THE NEXT EP LOOKS SO GOOD....... they spent the whole ep setting up not only the whole peoplelog thing but GOEMON’S INFERIORITY COMPLEX......
he wants to be liked and respected by lupin whose opinion he holds in high regard (and who he loves . dont @ me on this) but because:
a) he’s much younger than lupin and jigen and b) jigen is always the one referred to as “lupin’s partner in crime” and c) lupin is very loose with his communication with his friends, even w jigen
someone as straightforward and blunt as goemon needs more validation than lupin usually provides (where lupin is the type to assume his friends know him well enough to know that he cares about them without saying it explicitly) (and goemon is the type to repress his feelings until they get to be too much) so .....
in other words i hope lupin writers handle this well and next weeks ep is the ultimate goelup ep
Reblogging this again because when I uploaded it, it was like near 12AM/1AM when everyone was mostly asleep sgsgsgsgdgg. Anyways FujiLup yum, yum.
Another successful heist had just taken place. And to celebrate the success of it the world's most renowned thief, Lupin the Third had decided to host a small celebration. Alcohol was passed around between him, Jigen and Goemon, the three men just basking in the ecstasy of their victory. The trio celebrated late into the night, becoming wasted as the night went on before they'd all finally passed out from the alcohol in their systems. It was incredibly late when Lupin came to, blinking in a buzzed way as he got up from were he was currently laying. Taking in the room around him he took notice of Jigen and Goemon across from him, the two of them cuddled up with one another in their drunken sleep on the sofa. Rubbing his eyes to get rid of the sleepiness Lupin got up from the armchair he'd passed out in and with some difficulty made his way towards the kitchen for a glass of water.
Stepping into the small kitchen the gentleman thief made his way to the cabinet and grabbed a glass before filling it with water from the tap. Gulping it down somewhat the man focused his eyes on the stove's clock. In bright red digital numbers the time read 1AM in the morning. Lupin grimaced at the clock, annoyed that he couldn't have slept more as he took another drink from his water. The alcohol that was once swimming in his bloodstream had waned down quite a bit in the time since he'd passed out, now leaving him in a tipsy mindset instead of a completely unstable one. As he drank his water Lupin leaned against the counter, his thoughts wandering to the night's events and the heist. As he thought of the heist his thoughts of course wandered to the inspector and Lupin found himself making a mental note to check up on the older man within the next few days after everything died down, before his thoughts again drifted to another person that occupied his thoughts.
His brain called up several images of the person, flashes of curly, thick auburn hair and warm yet cunning light brown eyes and lips filled with a painted red smirk of amusement filled his thoughts. Lupin threw back the rest of his water, trying not to dwell on the person who was constantly in his thoughts but alas now that they'd been brought up his mind couldn't seem to shut them down. Then again it was natural that the thoughts stuck around whether he wanted them to or not. After all someone as interesting and beautiful as Fujiko Mine always lingered in someway, shape or form. And like many people who've met the female thief, Lupin was forever cursed to think about her. The thief let out a small sigh, placing his cup on the counter by the sink as his thoughts filled with nothing but her. It was a routine at this point, having his mind be muddled by her and having his heart yearn for her. As Lupin finished his task he suddenly felt his pants pocket vibrate aggressively, startling him slightly. Fumbling around for his phone he pulled it out and opened it up, the bright screen nearly blinding him for a brief moment before his eyes adjusted to the brightness. Blinking to get rid of the spots of color behind his eyes, Lupin looked at his phone seeing that he had a new message sent to him. Without much thought he opened the message and read its contents.
'Meet me at the park near your hotel. I'll be waiting. F.M.'
Lupin felt his breath catch as he took in the initials, knowing exactly who they belonged to. Without thinking about it, Lupin sent a response before pocketing his phone back into his pocket and heading towards the door to head out. With quiet and quick movements Lupin snuck past the living room, being careful to not wake up Jigen and Goemon before finally reaching the door. Gripping the handle and making sure he had the key card on him, the gentleman thief quietly left the hotel room, closing the door gently behind him and disappearing into the night.
~~~~~
The park was a beautiful place in the middle of night. Completely abandoned of all life besides those of the wilderness, the park gave off a quiet, sleepy atmosphere. Dull streetlights shined down on the path as Lupin made his way into the park, gazing around for the person he was searching for. After a few minutes of looking he finally caught sight of a familiar figure sitting on a park bench. Long flowing auburn hair hung over the back of the bench, gently swaying in the breeze. Lupin made his way towards the bench, the sounds of his shoes against the pebbles of the park's path echoing in the quiet.
"You know while I do love a romantic midnight meeting, I also happen to like knowing about it ahead of time instead of in the spur of the moment."
Lupin spoke up when he was close enough to be heard. Fujiko turned her head towards him, her upper body turned slightly with her arm perched on the back of the bench. The woman was dressed in a nice jacket and clothes, her face voided of her usual makeup. Light brown hues met light gray ones and a small smile slipped onto her features.
"Forgive me for not letting you know ahead of time. If it makes you feel better, I hadn't planned for this."
Fujiko said her voice soft. Lupin stared at her noting her lack of makeup and designer clothes that she usually wore out in public. With a somewhat cautious approach the gentleman thief moved closer to the bench, gesturing towards the seat next to her.
"You mind if I sit down for a moment? Walking while tipsy isn't all that fun."
Lupin said offering a smile. Fujiko let out a small amused huff before moving over a bit to give him room to sit. Once there was enough room for him, the thief sat down next to her making himself comfortable. The two sat there in silence for a moment, just soaking in the quietness of the park and each other's presence. It wasn't long before one of them broke the silence however.
"So why did you call me out here Fujicakes? You usually don't do this kind of thing."
The man asked turning his gaze towards his companion.
"Can't a girl want to spend time with her lover every so often?"
Fujiko responded her eyes flickering to meet his. Lupin let out a small amused noise, stretching his arms out a bit as he leaned back against his seat.
"Yes a girl can, but you usually want to spend time with me in a fancy place or on a heist. Is something wrong?"
Lupin asked his gaze unwavering as he waited patiently for a reply. Fujiko seemed to stiffen a bit, her eyes giving away her surprise at how well he knew her. Then again it was a natural thing between them, the two knew each other extremely well to the point that situations such as this was considered out of the norm for them. Fujiko remained silent for a long time, her eyes no longer looking at him but rather in the distance almost as if she was avoiding his own gaze. It was only when Lupin was about to drop the subject after a good few minutes of silence that his girl finally spoke.
"........I just wanted to experience something normal. Like how other lovers do it."
The female thief explained, her voice quiet and embarrassed by her confession. The gentleman thief stared at her, his expression full of surprise at her honesty.
"Something normal?"
He asked earning a small nod from her.
"Our lives are hectic and insane. We're always moving around from place to place, avoiding the law or surrounded by Jigen, Goemon or Zenigata. None of us never really get a chance to....to just......"
Fujiko said trailing off.
"To just breathe."
Lupin finished for her understanding what she was getting at.
"Exactly."
She said her expression relieved that he understood what she was saying. And Lupin did. He understood what she was saying a lot more than she realized. It was no secret that he and his gang lived rather chaotic lives, filled with one adventure after another, going to one place to another and always doing something whether it be a heist or trying to stop some maniac. While Lupin loved every moment of his life and wouldn't trade it for the world, he also had those moments where he felt a little overwhelmed by it all. As he thought about it more he began to realize to his horror that he as well as the rest of the gang hadn't really taken any chances to breathe between everything in there lives.
When was the last time Jigen got a chance to relax and not be stressed?
When was the last time Goemon meditated and trained with his beloved blade?
When was the last time Zenigata took a moment to himself?
When was the last time Fujiko got to have a relaxing and romantic evening?
When was the last time that he himself took a moment to step back from everything?
The lack of answer to his questions made Lupin feel a sense of foreboding as he realized that he couldn't recall the exact times that they'd all just took a moment to be normal. The thief pondered all of this while his partner quietly sat beside him, lost in her own thoughts. The time seemed to slow down as they sat there, before Lupin suddenly straightened himself up drawing Fujiko's attention to him. The woman didn't get a chance to figure out what her lover was doing before she felt a gentle yet firm hand wrap around her shoulders and draw her closer to Lupin, her head coming to rest on his shoulder.
"If you want to have a normal evening like everyone else, then we'll do it."
Lupin said his tone soft and gentle as he rubbed her shoulder gently in a soothing manner. Fujiko felt her body relax and melt into his, enjoying the rare moment of peace and normalcy that she rarely experienced with him, her head coming to be cradled in his neck. Lupin rested his head on top of hers, inhaling the sweet scent of her shampoo and perfume as he pressed gentle and loving kisses to her head. The couple remained like this for a long time, basking in the quiet, tranquil atmosphere between them. They only spoke in quiet, affectionate tones, partaking in the rituals that normal couples experienced everyday. They knew that once morning came they'd go back to their lives and the routines that they knew by heart. But until then they were nothing more than a pair of lovers on a late night rendezvous, taking what they could get in that moment of time.
~~~~~
By the time the early morning rays of the morning began to peek up over the trees, Lupin and Fujiko had begun to make the trip back towards the entrance of the park. They took their time, their hands gently clasped with one another's as they soaked up the last bits of normalcy they'd have for awhile. All too soon the familiar opening of the park filled their sight and the two paused exchanging looks with one another, silently communicating. After a silent conversation they hesitated in pulling away from each other, their hands still clasped with the other's. Lupin gave Fujiko a small look, noting how she was biting her lip, her expression conflicted. He waited patiently for her to get her bearings and was rewarded for it when she finally seemed to gather the courage to speak up.
"Thank you Lupin. For everything."
Fujiko said her tone soft and sincere, a rare sight to see. Lupin gave her a small smile and squeezed her hand gently.
"Anytime Fujicakes."
Lupin said his tone matching hers. Fujiko gave him a small smile in return and leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek. Lupin felt his heart jump in his chest at the kiss before mourning the loss of contact when she pulled away. Giving Lupin's hand one last squeeze, Fujiko finally let go and without looking back she went through the opening of the park, leaving Lupin behind to watch her go on her way once more. Once she was no longer in his sights Lupin went in the opposite direction she'd gone, back to the hotel where his partners were still fast asleep. As he walked the sidewalks in the early rays of the rising sun Lupin began to make plans on ways he could give everyone a much needed breather from their chaotic lives.
*Lupin and Fujiko give me life in so many ways y'all don't understand. Anyways I wanted to write for these two for quite awhile since they're one of my favorite pairings from Lupin the Third. For this piece I'd decided to go with a much more domestic kind of thing instead of all the excitement they usually go through. I in a way wanted to give them a moment of downtime and somewhat explore their relationship a bit. I like to think that Lupin and Fujiko have the kind of relationship where they understand one another quite well and when given the right circumstances they like to just enjoy each other's company, after all they've known each other for a long time and I'm willing to bet that they have a bond that only they can have. Anyways if any y'all read this I hope y'all enjoyed it!!!*
One of the things I’ve really enjoyed while fleshing my AU out is that, as much as it is an angsty little thing, it’s also full of comfort. They take care of each other. They make sure Goemon eats a good amount, Pops gets breaks, Jigen gets to relax and have fun, Fujiko is actually a part of the group and, while she and the boys can bicker, she’s not viewed as someone trying to screw them out of money or someone against them. They care about each other and, despite the circumstances, they continue to do so
