I feel like. Someone here forgot. That Xue Yang was not just calmly living peacefully with A-qing and xiao xingchen, he was also tricking xiao xingchen to murder innocent people in the guise of night hunting.

and besides that

1. idk what the produce vender thing is about at all on xue yangs side, ive never heard of it before nor have i heard anyone criticize xue yan for anything involving produce? wwx's only interaction with a produce seller if i recall was him trying and failing to barter for cheaper produce, which is fairly neutral.

2. hua cheng conceals his identity, but xie lian is extremely aware that he is hua cheng the whole time, and hua cheng is very aware that xie lian is aware. hes kinda just being playful. xue yang, in addition to that stuff i typed above, is specifically concealing his identity because he wants revenge and also cause he knows xxc will kill him if he knew he was xue yang. theres never a moment where xxc and xue yang are playfully aware that each other knows. two entirely different scenarios here. Also, xie lian doesnt have an y previous animosity towards hua cheng. xxc and xue yang have an adversarial past, and hua cheng and xie lians only previous meetings have been anything but. If hua cheng showed up as himself, xie lian would still have welcomed him, but if xue yang showed up as himself, xxc would not have accepted him.

3. someone in your notes mentioned this, and i can confirm this as a scum villain main, but binghe is a well known creep. thats a whole fandom joke. we call him a necrophiliac constantly. besides that, xiao xingchen killed himself specifically to get away from xue yang and because of the pain xue yang caused him. xxc loved song lan and wanted to do good and protect the common folk. Xue yang took both of those things away from him by making him murder innocents and song lan. sqq's immediate reaction to most situations is self destructing. he did it at oeast twice, and was prepared to do it when he was first poisoned by without a cure. he was very willing to die as an act of love towards binghe. binghe stealing his body and taking care of it is framed as really unhinged also, and everyone including sqq is really freaked out by it. I dont know if you know this, but luo binghe is one of the villains of svsss. hes literally the final boss. his actions arent meant to be wholesome and good.

like. no offense, because i simp shen jiu so i understand the desire to defend your poor little meow meow, but you dont have to wipe away a characters negative aspects to like them. you dont have to whitewash them into something good and pure and wholesome to be like 'yes, thats my favorite.' its ok to admit your fav is kinda fucked up and did really unambiguously bad things.

So let me get this straight… 

When Wei Wuxian intimidates a produce seller for a cheaper price is playful banter, but when Xue Yang does it is reprehensible threats to a honest merchant.

When Hua Cheng conceals his identity and helps his daozhang repair his roof is sweet attempt to get on his good graces, but when Xue Yang does it it’s predatory behaviour.

When Luo Binghe keeps his (as of then unrequited) crush’s body preserved to cuddle with while frantically searching for a way to revive him is a sign of devotion (if only a bit unhinged), but when Xue Yang does it is downright creepy. 

What am I missing.

5. Grima Wormtongue: he is a wet kitten who betrayed his people in a bad attempt to get tail. I hate him but also want to grab him by the scruff of his neck and give him a bath and a hot meal

4. Jiang Cheng: so maybe he tortures people who use resentful energy and maybe he's a bit of a jerk sometimes but he's just got a lot of issues and not enough hugs. Just let me hug him that will fix him

3. Luo Binghe: yes he maybe tried to destroy the world but he was just so sad! You can't hold that against him! He just wants his Shizun!

2. Shang Qinghua: he's just a little guy! You can't hold him accountable for all those people's deaths! He's just a little guy!

1. Shigaraki Tomura: he is precious and I just want him to be happy and play games with his friends and never have anything bad happen to him ever. Who cares if hes killed people! He can have a little murder as a treat. He's the poorest poor little meow meow and I won't hear a word against him

Okay, I can rank one character. My absolute favorite fictional character. The most blorbo to ever blorbo.

Ash Lynx from Banana Fish. He stands in a league of his own. I have never wanted to pluck a character out of their own story more. Fic writers who give him healing and happy stories on ao3, I owe you my life (I watched this show every week when it was airing in 2018 and if you sort my bookmarks by fandom, even though I am a huge mxtx fan now, this one is still at the top.) scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): bb!Luo Binghe. He is a fluffy and confused child and I want to give him a kiss on the hidden demon mark.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): it's all @veilchenjaeger's fault pretty much that I've gotten deeply attached to Liu Mingyan in the last month or so. I would've said same for Sha Hualing but I already was fond of her, now I'm just more so. But Liu Mingyan, particularly Deeply Unhinged Liu Mingyan in the context of Mingling? can't believe I haven't been turning that like a rotisserie chicken for longer

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): like he's not obscure at all but I still just do find it very funny that my actual favorite character in this novel is very much Sir Technically Not Actually Appearing In This Novel Shen Jiu.
