Page 133. Chapter IX.

Um excuse me what the fuck! I thought this was supposed to be a fun book but I'm having no fun now!!! Spent the majority of this chapter with my jaw on the floor because of how insane some of these plot points were. How did Fitzgerald even come up with some of these things good grief it's so TRAGIC.

Page 120. Chapter VII.

I spent this whole chapter wide-eyed. On numerous occasions I had to put the book down and seethe quietly about Tom Buchanan (who is a prick) or Jay Gatsby (also a prick). Not even Daisy (who it turns out, another prick) was safe this afternoon. Absolutely flabbergasted by this turn of events. So so excited to see what happens next!

Since starting Ocean Vuong's novel, "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous," I've found Fitzgerald's work easier to understand because his metaphors are more straightforward. Interesting how pushing ourselves past the limit of ease is equal parts difficult and expansive.

Course selection today! I got into all the Common Core I signed up for which is a massive win since some of my friends are still 200th on the waiting list. Finished my housing application, cut my hair. Was a bit nervous for the appointment, but it went well and I'm really pleased with how my fringe turned out :)

I'm proud of my mental health progress recently, and my gradually improving relationship with anxiety is creating room for such wonderful excitement towards this next chapter.

Lecture on what it means to be a literature major! So much information my head feels like it's going to explode... very informative and I'm a bit more secure in the process of course sign up now! I also attended an online lecture by the student society- even more information but again- super useful stuff that will help me develop my broader university experience (clubs, societies and housing).
