DANCE OF FLOWERS!

repost of one of my older fics that i had saved somewhere. I was and still am really proud of this fic, i still like it a lot.

Upon hearing about you, The Tsaritsa found herself eager to find out more. To see you with her own eyes. That’s why she finds herself in Monstad for once. She doesn’t want to be here, of course, but you’re more important than any of those she holds in contempt.

Laughter sounded from a crowded area just up ahead, and she went towards it. She listened to the tune playing as successfully weaved herself to the front of the crowd.

The laughter and music grew louder and she couldn’t help but watched in awe as you twirled yourself and the child you held onto, smile wide on your face. Your face flush red from happiness. This look was what she liked best on you. Happiness suited you better than the benevolent neutrality that people made you famous for.

Flowers were weaved into your hair, resembling the ones that bloomed all throughout teyvat. Flowers seemed to blood in her stomach as well as she stared at you, completely mesmerized.

You locked eyes with her and smiled at her, head tilting to the side before letting go of Klee’s hands and heading towards her. “Dance with me.” You spoke out, smiling happily at her without a single trace of fear as you grabbed her hands. They were cold, like ice, but you didn’t mind.

“Ah.” She spoke out finally, looking down at you and let you drag her out. She easily followed your footsteps and twirled you around without having to be told.

Venti watched closely while still playing the tune with ease. He was a bard after all. He knew why she was there and he didn’t want her hurting their precious creator, so he made sure to keep an eye on them.

“You dance really well, my lady.” You beamed at her as you held onto her hands, cheeks flushed as you still danced to the song that was nearing it’s end. “It was my honor to dance with you.” You smiled as you looked up and all kind of petals rained down upon the surrounding people.

You stepped back, letting go of her hands and reconnecting with Klee before turning around and heading off with Klee and Venti in tow.

She searched for you for weeks afterwards but never found you, so she went back to Schneznaya with hope that you may get her gifts and letters.

Every single gift and letter she sent was intercepted by one of the acolytes, except for a music box.

A beautifully crafted music box with the same tune that the two of you had danced to, and on top where the figurine usually was, sat you. Beautiful, kind, happy you with petals drifting around. It was a beautiful gift. One you fawned over to everyone that would listen.

“Your Grace....” Zhongli glanced at your pouting lips before his eyes drifted over to your puffed out cheeks and up to your furrowed eyebrows. “Please understand, it’s dangerous. We only wish to keep you safe.”

“Why would she hurt me? She’s been sending me gifts and letters! Which you always discarded Zhongli!” You crossed your arms, upset at the actions they took.

Zhongli’s face softened as he came closer to you and grasped at your hand so that he might press a kiss to it. “I’m sorry. I just want to protect you. I’m your loyal acolyte. I wish only good things to come your way. I should have consulted you first, my creator.”

Your face softened and a sigh came from your lips as you gazed at him. “I can never stay mad at you.... But!” You added on as his face brightened. “I want to meet with her! She sent an invitation to have tea with her in her palace! I’ll take Aether and Lumine! I’ll be safe so please Zhongli!!!” You pleaded with him, grasping at his hand, desperate for his approval.

You knew they only did these things to protect you, to protect your happiness so you always let it slide but you wanted to see her again so badly! You couldn’t stop playing the music box and listening to it with longing.

Venti sighed from the doorway before making his way into the room. “C’mon Zhongli! It’s the Honorary Knight and Lumine is just as capable! They’ll be perfectly safe. Let them have a little fun.”

“Alright.” He sighed as he agreed, making you jump for joy and hug him tight, repeatedly thanking him.

You were so happy! You had been waiting so long to see her again. Ever since that dance, you hadn’t been able to get her off of your mind. And now, you were going to have tea with her in Schneznaya. Lumine and Aether would be there too but you knew they wouldn’t cause any trouble, they were good people.

Oh, you couldn’t wait!

And that led you to where you were right now! In front of the Zapolyarny Palace with the twins at your sides and a bouquet of red carnations in your hands.

“You have to be on your best behavior, okay? No matter how much someone aggravates you. The Tsaritsa has been very kind to allow us to visit, so we must be kind in return.” You lectured them, sternly.

Lumine nodded her head and nudged Aether to the same. “We’ll make sure to be civil no matter who it is, right Aether?”

“Yeah. Don’t worry so much your grace. We’ll be role models!” Aether pumped his fist in the air with Paimon at his side watching in suspicious silence.

“Paimon too, right?” You smiled at the floating girl and she pouted before nodded reluctantly.

“Paimon will be nice.”

A snort cut through the silence as Scaramouche appeared in front of them. “Surprised to see you three, survival must be easy for you huh?” He smiled mockingly at them before it turned sincere once he turned to you and bowed. “Your Divine Grace, The Tsaritsa sent me to guide you to the tea room.”

“Thank you.” You smiled at him and ushered your three companions to follow as you knew they disliked Scaramouche and you knew why but you aimed to have a peaceful tea time with The Tsaritsa!

“You’ve come.” Once she saw you, the Tsaritsa smiled at you, the corners of her eyes crinkling up with it. “I thought you wouldn’t, you never responded to any of my letters....”

You rubbed the back of your neck with a hand. “Ah, yes. The letters and gifts except the music box and the letter than came with it were all not given to me.” You spoke and upon seeing the Tsaritsa’s rising anger, hurried to soothe her. “They’re just trying to protect me. Will you forgive them this once?” You pleaded with her.

“If it’s what you wish...” She conceded, not wanting to go against your will.

“I... um.... I didn’t know what kind of flowers you like so I made red carnations for you.” You handed the bouquet over to her and she smiled down at it.

“You are much too kind, come. Let’s have tea together. Scaramouche, lead the twins and their companion towards the other table.” She commanded and you smiled at the three companions.

Lumine frowned but bit her tongue. You wanted them to be on their best behavior. Even if it means being nice to....ugh..... Scaramouche, she’ll do it. For you.

Aether was working hard to hold himself back, reminding himself that this was what you wanted.

“Sorry Travellers, heard you were coming and made sure you wouldn’t have too many options. Must hurt your head to think all the time, huh?” Scaramouche remarked as he smirked and walked forward.

Aether wondered if it was too late to stop being nice to that prick.

Meanwhile, with you and the Tsaritsa, you both were chatting happily with each other.

“Thank you for the music box. It was lovely.” Hands clutched at the teacup in your hands as you smiled down at the contents in the cup.

“I’m glad you liked it, you left an impression on me. I wanted to see you again.” She spoke out as she reached out her hand and brushed her thumb along your cheekbone. “I’m happy you came to see me.”

Red filled your cheeks and you nodded fervently. “M-Me too! I wanted to see you too......”

You bit into one of the tea cakes, a pink one. “Mmm!” You made a sound of approval as you swallowed it. “So good!” You spoke before taking a sip of your tea. "I’ve never had a tea cake that tasted so good before.”

The Tsaritsa watched you with a fond look on her face as she pulled back her hand and grabbed the white chocolate tea cake grabbed a piece of it with her fork. “Let me food you.” She insisted and you nodded eagerly, opening your mouth.

She fed it to you and you made another sound of approval. “This one is good too!” You looked so happy and she couldn’t help herself but to learn forward and press a kiss to your lips.

A crash sounded somewhere behind you and you turned bright red as you hid your face. “My lady! W-W-W-” You couldn’t form a response to what had just happened.

You could have sworn you heard Scaramouche cackling behind you as Lumine whispered at Aether to calm down.

SWEET MELODY

☆ characters — balladeer and the cult

wanderer: the main vocalist and guitarist of the group, 'balladeer and the cult', usually shortened to balladeer or the balladeers. it used to just be a garage band when they were in high school, until aether's sister got them a contract under teyvat entertainment. him and his band blew up on tiktok just recently because she got them a gig to perform on saturday night live. 'murder on the dance floor' by sophie-ellis bextor was their choice, and a week later, teenage girls were flooding all their socials demanding a tour. it was a shitstorm, even for him, having never been good with attention.

venti: background vocals and keyboardist for the band, but he usually alternates depending on the song. he was ironically a recent addition to their band, as they needed someone else who was able to keep up with their hectic schedule. he auditioned with a harmonica, two mora in his name, and a dream. lumine felt bad for him for a little bit before realizing he was actually really good.

xiao: the bassist and sometimes background vocals for the band. for some reason, their fans was always very comfortable simping for xiao in particular. mainly because he doesn't say anything to protest it, he just ignores the comments and goes about his day. but then they started getting really feral? to the point where the ceo had to make a statement discouraging inappropriate comments regarding their artists. safe to say, he and scaramouche were the golden boys.

heizou: drummer for the band. he initially wanted to go to college, but that plan never stuck with him. he started causing a lot of trouble when he met wanderer. but he realized that he was indebted to him when wanderer took the fall for him when he crashed into another vehicle one night, and he got off clean from the entertainment staff. he knew he owed it to him to stick by his side, even though he wasn't the nicest person to be around.

aether: he was background vocals that slowly turned into second guitarist. he was one of the first people in the band, having even been there for all of the logo changes they went through. he wasn't good at guitar at first, so he offered minimal, but wanderer was willing to teach him. he's actually a pretty good teacher, even though sometimes he walked out when he lost his patience. he never yelled at him, though, so there was that.

lumine: manager and agent for balladeer and the cult. she saw a lot of potential in them when she was in high school and watched their practices after school. she immediately knew what profession she was going to pursue, and that kickstarted her majoring in communications. she was technically only fit for public relations, but she wouldn't accept anyone else being their manager except for her. so she kind of paid teyvat entertainment to get them in, but you can't tell anyone.

Ok, fine, just because you asked (<- really wanted to do that for a while anyway)!

Since there's so many characters, I'll only do some this round with a little explanation.

Lumine: she's a jazz clarinet! Clarinets have this airy, whimsical sound that just screams "Lumine" to me, but it's specifically in a jazz contest that it reminds me of her. Since I default to Traveler Lumine, I imagine her being a star in ascension in the jazz world, always busking and playing with other famous jazz musicians and befriending them.

Aether: a classical clarinet. I envision the twins mastering the same instrument but going off to build their music careers in different genres. Clarinet in classical music also has an airy quality to it (is the instrument's nature, after all), but the "mood" is noticeably different from a clarinet in jazz music.

Venti: he's pretty much the creator of Mondstadtian music, so he probably knows everything medieval under the sun. But he isn't one to stay complacent either, so along with classical harp, he'd also play the accordion, with is vital for European folk music! I'm sure he's proficient with a ton more instruments.

Diluc: classical violinist. Do you ever look at this man? His face screams "I hate Paganini for what he did to my fingers". Damn near a virtuoso too.

Zhongli: he's not an expert in Liyuese culture, he IS Liyuese culture. I can only give him the erhu. He had all the time in the world to master every piece of traditional music possible and I'm sure he'd be a living legend in the orchestras of today. That being said, he loves trying new things, so I bet he'd dabble on things like jazz erhu too.

Childe: he looks like an electric bass player to me. Now, what genre does he play in is the question... I'm staying with funk for now, but it's subject to change. He does look like he'd dance a lot while playing too.

Ei: she's been disconnected from her people for a LONG while, so I wouldn't be surprised if she only knows gagaku (traditional Japanese music). With that in mind, I'd choose the koto for her.

Itto: unemployment be damned, my boy can play some drums! It's so easy to imagine the whole Arataki gang getting ready to work on a taiko ensemble. But I think Itto would like to try some drum kit too.

Nahida: while the image of her holding a big-ass citar would be hilarious, I think she'd actually be a tabla player. You know what they say about percussion being the backbone of music; Nahida's reliable like that.

Wanderer: Mr. Kabuki over there could have played gagaku in the old days, but I actually think he was more of a singer instead. And, after the Sumeru Archon Quest, he could have picked up traditional forms of Indian singing too. In general, I'll always associate his musicality with theater.

Furina: also a singer. Originally an opera singer, grew tired and overwhelmed by her career and then retired. I think she's a jazz soloist these days, but she doesn't really make a career out of it anymore.

Neuvillette: a very talented cellist, but I think it's more of a pastime for him than an actual career. Otherwise, I can see him as a superb orchestra conductor.

THE COMEDY ITSELF

Kaedehara Kazuha - A 17 years old boy, smitten and passionate about poetry, often expressed himself through the verses and songs he wrote. That’s why the poetry club was his favorite place to be. Shikanoin Heizou - Another one of Kazuha's classmates and bandmates, he often introduces himself as a detective. It was surprising how he is the student council vice president. His undeniable charm makes him the perfect boyfriend material. Rumors swirl that he once dated someone, but no matter how hard people try, it’s nearly impossible to uncover the identity of his mysterious former partner. Venti - A 16 years old drama club enthusiast and the leader of the popular band, 5wirl, he was admired for his beautiful voice and mastery of every instrument. Somehow, Venti always managed to slip away from any trouble he stirred up—how he did it, no one could quite figure out. Aether - A famous twin known for his willingness to help those in need, also a member of the student council. he caught Venti's attention one day while humming to himself, captivated by his beautiful voice and striking appearance. Coincidentally, they were classmates, making it all too easy for Venti to whisk Aether away before anyone else could ask for his assistance. Lumine - A famous twin just like Aether, although she seemed more strong and braver than him. She often helps Kokomi as a member of the student council, working alongside Aether. Rumor has it she was actually seeing someone, however they kept it to themselves to respect her privacy.

SYNOPSIS As a dedicated student, you often get lost in your studies, oblivious to the world around you—including the boy who's been quietly pining for you, hoping one day you'll see him the way he sees you. The blonde traveler is unmistakably one of the busiest people in the whole of Teyvat; the neverending commissions here and there, exhausting explorations as an adventurer, and the journey to the unknown just to find their twin. The traveler has been through a lot, yet barely achieving progress in looking for their twin’s whereabouts that sometimes they wanted to cry out their frustration. 

Not to mention the part where everyone asks for their help.

“Traveler! Could you help me with these?” “If it isn’t the famous traveler and their companion! Mind lending me a hand?” “Please help me find signs that my true love will come!” 

It sucks.

The traveler has nothing to do with these people. There are times they wanted to ignore everything else and focus on their twin, but oh, archons, their compassion weighs more than anything, they always make time for everyone. It is no secret that the traveler has a heart of gold. This is the reason why you always do your best to look after the traveler, making sure they do not take advantage of their capabilities. You know that their power is beyond measure, something that could rival a god’s, this has been proven quite a few times in their journey on the four nations. Albeit lacking in combat prowess, you never feel ashamed of showering the traveler with the affection and love they deserve. 

“Archons, what do I do without you?” The blonde traveler looks at you fondly, smiling from ear to ear, “I should start appreciating you more, don’t you think?”

“Can’t say I don’t want the Teyvat superstar’s attention on me, y’know?” You chuckle, inching closer to the traveler as you stroll on the bustling streets of Port Ormos. 

“Ouch, that is all I am to you? A celebrity?” The traveler scowls, feigning dismay. 

“I guess so.” You shrug as you intertwine your hands with the traveler. You feel the warmth of their hand spread through yours and your heart skips a beat although you initiated the contact. 

The traveler jokes, “I should try harder then,” the blonde pauses before taking a deep breath, “You know I’m grateful for you, right? I have things to do and the people constantly seek me to be of service to them, and then, there’s you.”

“What do you mean?” You lightly squeeze your intertwined hands.

“All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing.” The traveler halts, staring at you intently.

“Don’t be silly, you know the reason for that.” Your voice comes off hushed and you blush from the intense gaze on you. “I won’t be saying it though.”

“Yeah, love you too.” The traveler brings your hand to their face and gently places a kiss on your palm.

My Lumine portrayal + twins HCs

// I've been thinking about the twins a lot lately and how they are portrayed in-game through their kits/attack animals/voice lines as well as on official art.

Note that I play with Lumine as the Traveler and Aether as the Abyss Prince, so this will obviously influence their in-game behavior as well.

However, in my mind, these are the twins' differences in terms of personality.

I view Lumine as someone who is very cheerful, warm and kind-hearted. She is passionate and energetic - sometimes perhaps a little too much so. She is also rather silly and impulsive, you could even say reckless.

On the flip side, she also has a nurturing side and is very protective and caring of those around her.

Meanwhile Aether is the calmer, more level-headed sibling. He is also kind, but he is a little more subtle in the ways he shows his emotions. He tends to think more before he acts and considers the possible consequences. He is rational and stable, showing less sudden mood swings than Lumine does.

He is somewhat of a 'balancing' factor to those around him. A very good listener and always there to give sound advice.

Below is a list of references which I based myself on.

Their kits: Lumine has a slightly higher charged attack multiplier while Aether has higher stamina and HP.

Their voicelines (JP): While the actual dialogue is the same, Aether sounds much more calm and collected when speaking his lines while Lumine's are filled with passion. You can actually feel the heat of the battle in her voice.

Expressions in cutscenes. The most recent one being Xianyun's storyquest where Lumine just seems much more expressive and emotional. (This could be because the female model is made better in this regard than the male one, of course. :p)

itto — the true headache of the group. he wanted to drop out of university, but shinobu didn't let him. so, he took chiropractic as his major... which worries everyone. calls his friend group the arataki gang. he and heizou gets along very well, much to your luck. calls everyone bro. he gives you stress, and being around him is so overwhelming. as someone who prefers quiteness, you dislike his loudness. but other than that, you're cool with him.

tohma: he was a popular streamer, up until scaramouche of inazuma (the twitch organization), started making fun of his content on a stream one day. fans of his swarmed his videos calling him cringe. as soon as tohma replied to scaramouche and said ‘what do you even do in your stream? thirst trap? your fans are 13, my fans actually want to be productive, we are not the same’, scaramouche didn’t let up on him until he started losing 30k followers a day.

It was quite easy to hide your relationship with Aether. After all, you were childhood best friends. On top of that, people already kind of paired the two of up already. What they don't realize is that it's actually already true. Still, you two were careful since the media has very speculating eyes and one wrong move could blow Aether's career. He wouldn't care about it if he was alone, but he was also worried for the other members of their group. It was a huge benefit whenever you and Lumine were on the same project. He has more reason to see you under the guise of seeing his sister. He loved seeing your movies and shows, which you adored. Sometimes, however, the man would manage to find an iconic line in them and reenact it himself just to tease you.

Venti would never be able to keep his hands off of you. There were multiple times where the media almost knew about your relationship if it weren't for Paimon probably being the best at handling PR. “That’s where you're wrong, your voice competes with that of 4NEMO,” Zhongli said, the younger male didn’t buy it, So… you’re telling me I can take on 4NEMO?” Aether repeated, the amber-eyed man hummed in response, “Are you crazy? There’s like no way I could even get up to their standards!” Aether laughed at Zhongli’s comment, “But it’s true” Zhongli kept on trying to convince his nephew.

“Hm, then, why don’t I add your voice in 4NEMO’s unreleased song? It did lack something and maybe you could fill the gap” Zhongli offered, “Alright, alright… bet” Aether agreed, he knew it was silly but he complied, after all, it’d be such an honor to be a part of a 4NEMO song. 4NEMO is a very popular T-Pop band, everyone adored them and their songs. Social media blew up after hearing 4NEMO’s new song “Mondstadt Hills” which was released yesterday, “I THOUGHT YOU SAID THEY WOULDN’T NOTICE MY VOICE?” Aether screamed in panic, pacing back and forth as his uncle sits, drinking tea, calm as ever. “I didn’t know they’d love your voice so much, it proves my point about your voice a week ago,” Zhongli said before taking another sip, his nephew could swear he was smirking behind the porcelain cup.

“Also, Lumine is coming home today. but unfortunately I will not be present for today as I need to attend 4NEMO’s matters” Zhongli informed Aether before he stood up and left the room.

‘At least Lumi is coming home…’ Aether thought to himself, Lumine was a famous actor, always in another country, never in one place for more than a month. Lumine got hired by a fairly large company thanks to Zhongli. Lumine is likely to visit Aether because of the song. Lumine could recognize her twin brother’s voice from anywhere, he did sing for her when they were kids.

Aether sighed and opened his phone to check if the chaos on social media has quelled, no, no it did not.

The small groups of haters or people who do not like 4NEMO are quickly switching up after hearing Aether’s voice, ‘they better thank me…’ Aether thought switching his phone off.

“Zhongli! Zhongli!!! Just tell us! Not like we’re gonna tell anyone!” Venti whined to the older man, as Zhongli rolled his eyes, “I hate to agree with Venti, but yeah” Heizou said, as Kazuha nodded. “Have you idiots ever considered thinking about his privacy?” Xiao spoke up in his usual harsh tone, “Oh c’mon Xiao! Acting like you aren’t you curious, huh?!”Venti said looking back at Xiao who was leaning against the wall.

“I’m curious but-” “See! You’re in this together!” Venti smiled, his usual shit-eating grin presented on his face.

“I still do not have the consent to reveal his identity,” Zhongli said, pushing Venti away who was tugging at his hair. “In that case… why don’t we organize a live show? Wouldn’t that force our anonymous voice to stop hiding?” Heizou said, with a closed-eye smile, sometimes, his intelligence scared Zhongli. “I could always pre-record his singing” Zhongli fired back.
