This'll make more sense once everything's been refitted, but the Fazbear Frights Crew is composed of a group of young adults who make a poor decisions brought about by a touch of invincibility complex, although how reckless they are varies within a range. Each one represents a standard vice (drugs, alcohol, smoking, and adrenaline chasing), and Luke's was drugs. He mainly smoked weed, but he wasn't above dabbling with hardcore shit like heroin, cocaine, or ecstasy, and given that he was a DJ at nightclubs when he wasn't at Fazbear Frights, he had reason to do a lot of it.

Still, he tended to regulate himself pretty well, then Mercy died. It kind of rocked his world by shattering the expectation that they would live forever, or they were immune to death (Mercy was only 21), so he spiraled hard. He basically couldn't cope, started getting even more reckless with the shit he took, and ended up overdosing after a long night of hard partying.
