A Video Interview with Christian Ridolfi from Cantina Santi at VanWineFest 2024
A #Video #Interview with Christian Ridolfi from Cantina Santi at @VanWineFest 2024. #Lugana #Italianwine #somm #winelover
I enjoy interviewing winery principals during VanWineFest every year. This year, I tasted the wine Santi Lugana Folar 2021 by Cantina Santi from the Lake Garda region in Northeastern Italy. It is a white wine made with Trebbiano di Lugana grapes. This wine is not well-known but has refreshing acidity, minerality, and stone fruit flavours, which make this type of wine a pleasure to enjoy. âŚ

Destination Lugana - Captivating White Wines From Lake Garda
Destination Lugana â Captivating White Wines From Lake Garda
Lugana is a small, treasured wine region in Northern Italy. The region produces beautifully elegant white wines. It is a charming area at the base of Lake Garda with beautiful azure water and the Alps as a dramatic backdrop. Americans typically drink Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, but Lugana wines are a great alternative. The wines are fresh and low in alcohol, The wines are not powerful, theyâŚ

Hello! Sorry if this is a silly question you've already answered somewhere, but I gotta ask! Do you dye the fabric yourself? The only colored aida fabric I can find is red, black or turquoise. I am obsessed with the color composition of your art and how the canvas itself adds to it!
Thank you and not silly at all! I don't dye myself, but the majority of my fabrics are by hand dyers! I always put the fabric I used in my Etsy listings but you can also ask here if you'd like to know a specific fabric! (it can be sometimes hard to find on Etsy as they're always moving the descriptions around)
I use a lot of fabric from BeStitchMe, Picture This Plus, and Fiber on a Whim, all of which dye on lots of different fabric bases.
I mostly use linen, jobelan, or lugana, but there are some awesome dyers who only do aida, like Witch's Garden Crafts, The Stitchy Ferret, and Oblong Meow.
I know lots of folks will dye their own fabric for fun with the ice dyeing technique, which is pretty forgiving and a lot of fun! I've tried it a couple times with some smaller pieces of white aida and it turned out pretty cool! You just need some fabric or floss (usually white), powder dye, a container, and lots of ice! (and probably gloves too). This can be a great technique to use on thrifted fabric that might be a bit stained anyway to give it new life! (just be careful not to wash it again unless you set the dye or the colors might run)

One of my absolute favorite finishes. A gift for a lovely friend who loves foxes. Blends are so much fun for me, so this was a joy to work on. I modified the pattern to add the little pinwheel roses with a fun thread I had.

Temperature Typography 2022
The pattern is by StitchinMommy on Etsy, although I didnât use her colorsâI used the colors Iâve been using since 2018 to be consistent. The fabric is basic 20 ct. white lugana.
Highs for December ranged from -1°F on December 23 to 59°F on December 29. Yes, those days are only 6 days apart. It was quite the ride.
Highs for 2022 ranged from -1°F on December 23 to 99°F on June 21.
I actually finished this on New Year's Day, but I've been waiting for a sunny day to take a picture so the yellows would show up. Yes, I had to wait this long for the sun to come out.

I have finally stopped procrastinating and pre-cut the Aida 16 fabric that I have been using in some of my projects.
Most of it has been cut to fit 100x100 circle patterns ("circle patterns", let's be real, it's for Stitch It Picasso patterns, lol)
I'm not sure if I'll keep using Aida once I finish the one I have, though. I have started to use Lugana (28ct and 32ct) and it's so nice, prettiest crosses I have ever stitched.
