thinking about the bonnaires all switching places....... of course there's the part where ludovica yearns for how she and remy would be better off living each other’s lives:

BUT! ludo and remy aren't the only bonnaires!!! we have our darling honeyfoot! and we ALSO have a scene of ludo expressing how she wishes she had honeyfoot's life:

of course, this desire plants the idea of a new plan in her head:

but what I'm really obsessed with is the parallels of them all. ludo is a researcher of the natural world, while honeyfoot is one of the spiritual! by making the decision to become a nun, ludo has virtually already stepped into honeyfoot's role!

but where does that leave the bonnaire boys? remy still thrives best in social situations, and honeyfoot is a born leader born out of wedlock. ludovica's line about the siblings' scripts being mixed at birth still stands, but it goes three ways now! ludovica's best life would be honeyfoot's (researching, exploring the world), remy's would be ludovica's (negotiating contracts, playing the social game), and honeyfoot's would be remy's (managing people, travelling to distant lands, leading)!

I don't know where all their storylines will end up, or how they'll resolve their realities with their needs. I do know that I'm super excited to find out!!

Okay so what scenario is more humbling for Remy Bonnaire? He was replaced on his ship by his little sister who has a different face, voice and hair —who claimed to be him in a wig— and no one noticed,,,, or, everyone noticed she was Ludo wearing her brothers clothes but the entire crew just went… eh, none of my business and kept doing their jobs

ludovica has a billion degrees about everything but she's doing a low-pay job at a measly research station near some backwater place so she can study the extremely interesting sediment layer of a bygone era filled with the stony remains of the ancient sea sponges

Heyo whattup it’s time for another webcomic rec because I fiNALLY took my best friend’s advice and checked out Tiger, Tiger.

Our protagonist is Ludovica Bonnaire, pampered youngest child of a wealthy merchant family and brilliant scientific mind with a single purpose in life: to uncover the divine, otherworldly secrets of--

--THE MAGNIFICENT SEA SPONGE!

Ignored by the scientific community due to her sex, Ludo decides to set out in search of a discovery so big, so world-changing, that the history books will have no CHOICE but to acknowledge her findings.

To do that, though, she’ll need to borrow her brother’s ship. And his crew... And his identity.

Captaining a stolen ship all the way across the sea to the New World is not easy, but she knows it’ll all be worth it in the pursuit of SCIENCE. And if she gets to know a little more about her older brother, their family, and--oh, you know, maybe some eldritch mysteries from the beginning of time along the way...

... then that’s just a bonus!

Because listen, the worldbuilding in this story is INSANELY good. The mythology that’s been laid out for this world so far is really damn cool, and then there’s all this additional depth to it because it’s introduced to the story diegetically. It’s told so organically that it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s just ancient superstition, making the inevitable horrors all the more unknowable and terrifying when they do show up. (Sorry, I’m being intentionally vague here because I don’t want to spoil things, but just trust me when I say the part where the reader learns about the setting’s creation myth is one of my favorite parts of the comic so far!)

This comic’s really got it all. Period setting, pirates and monsters, mystery and suspense, an instantly lovable and hilarious cast of characters, (extremely queer) romantic drama, endless gushing about marine biology, and more!

(Warnings for body horror and mild gore, period-typical homophobia, nudity, sexual content, and general spookiness.)

Definitely one of my new favorite comics, and I am VERY excited to see where Ludo’s hare-brained plan leads next.

Tiger Tiger prediction : Remi didn't tell his parents, didn't tell anyone, just ran straight to Arno to scream about it, went investigating, found that dude Luck tried to eat/drown/make mad, somehow convinced Arno to either board a ship w him or to un-retire his old pirate ship

We've seen how Remi copes w having an issue, it's just tell no one, bottle it up and make things worse so now both the Bonnaire heirs are missing bc he didn't write home to say he was out to find Ludo
