Can you do a short fic with close talking and hands on waists and kissing? Vanilla I know, but hands firmly on waists are one of my favorite things in the world. I won't be upset if you don't want to do it!
Sure, babe! Would you, or any more of my followers, be interested in giving me fic prompts like this in future? I’m studying my Creative Writing MA, so any chance to practise would be a godsend! If you guys ever wanna see me write something you’ve had in your mind, send me a lil ask! I’m always up for a challenge.
“Hey, isn’t that Dan wandering off towards that fountain?” PJ asks, inclining his head towards a slowly retreating figure in the distance, shrouded in a brown furry hoodie.
Phil squints through the darkness, trying to make the person out. His heart sinks rapidly, and he feels a lurch in his stomach.
“Yeah, I think it is.” Phil replies, already starting towards Dan. “Hang on, I’d better go get him.”
“See you next party, then,” PJ calls after Phil, laughing. Phil tosses a confused look over his shoulder, but PJ has already turned back to the others.
He hurries through the crowd of party-goers, all in fancy-dress, wielding their flashy digital cameras as they ‘vlog’ the Halloween YouTuber meetup. Perhaps it had been a mistake to bring Dan here, Phil thinks in hindsight, chewing his lip as he pushes through the gaggles of tipsy, loud, tight-knit groups.
He’s expressed a desire to join the mad, exciting world of YouTube, but Dan’s never actually filmed anything. Not yet, anyway. He must feel a bit out of place. Phil really should have kept a better eye on him.
He passes a group of people handing out plastic cups filled with some kind of brown liquor, so Phil snags two, grinning and making some playful remark so that they all just roll their eyes and wave him off with a smile.
It doesn’t take long to catch up to Dan after that. He’s stood by the big fountain a few metres away, looking up at the sky.
Phil pauses for a moment before he approaches; Dan looks so peaceful standing there. Utterly, astoundingly beautiful too, but that’s sort of a given. It shouldn’t come as a surprise anymore, that Dan always, always looks mesmeric, but life doesn’t work that way. Phil will never fail to be rendered breathless, simply by watching Dan just
 be.
“Hey, bear.” Phil greets softly.
Dan spins around at once, eyes round like he’s been caught. “Phil.”
Phil smiles at him, stepping closer, and hands him one of the plastic cups. “What’re you up to over here?”
Dan accepts the cup cautiously, still seeming ashamed. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to
you don’t have to come and babysit me. I’m ok. You’re having fun.”
Phil frowns, stepping further towards him. As he gets nearer to Dan, it becomes glaringly obvious that the younger boy is shivering. Even cloaked in all that faux-fur.
Without thinking about it, Phil’s hand grazes Dan’s waist, slipping over the soft, brown fur until it rests on his hip. Dan shivers again, more ferociously this time.
“I was having fun until you left.” Phil tells him softly.
There are pink splotches appearing behind the thick black dots Phil drew onto Dan’s cheeks earlier with a Sharpie. Back at Phil’s house, they’d gotten ready together, choosing their costumes with a sappy sentimentality that luckily only the two of them will understand.
Cat and Bear. Their nicknames for each other.
Phil lifts the hand holding his cup, brushing the backs of his knuckles across Dan’s warm cheek.
“I just needed a little breather.” Dan admits, his eyelashes fluttering as his eyes slip closed against Phil’s touch. “It got kind of overwhelming. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry.” Phil tells him with a smile. “I’m kind of glad, to be honest.”
Dan blinks at him owlishly. “You are?”
Phil nods, eyes falling to the pale pink cushion of Dan’s chapped lips. “I haven’t kissed you in hours. I’m getting withdrawal.”
The slight flush on Dan’s cheeks reddens considerably, and he turns his attention to his drink, sipping it in order to avoid Phil’s eye.
“I don’t want to stop you having fun.” Dan tells him quietly, so Phil decides he needs to take action.
He throws his cup to the floor, not caring that it’s still almost full. Dan watches him in surprise, and then Phil takes his cup too, doing the same thing.
He finds Dan’s freezing hands and draws them to his hips. Then he lets go, just letting them rest there as he takes Dan’s face in his hands, pulling him close.
“Dan, these people
” Phil hesitates, not sure if this is going to sound too callous. “They’re just people. They’re some people I see once every few months, usually drunk. They do what I do, which gives us something to talk about. With the exception of a few actual friends, like PJ, they don’t interest me.”
“But you were having a good time
” Dan objects, eyes flicking back towards the crowd.
“Yeah, I’m at a party.” Phil shrugs. “I like parties, and as long as someone isn’t a complete dickhead, I can probably get along with them. But I don’t care about them, you know? Not really.” Phil smiles at him. “But I care about you.”
Dan sucks in a breath, his fingers tightening their grip on Phil’s hips. “Phil
”
“I only suggested we come here because
” Phil shrugs, floundering for a reason. “Because it’s a party and I thought it might be fun. It’s a chance to dress up. And it’s a chance to show you off to everyone who’ll listen to me ramble about you.”
Dan rolls his eyes. “Right, ‘cause everyone’s so impressed you showed up with a socially awkward twink dressed like a friggin’ furby.”
Phil splutters with laughter, and Dan smiles back, shaking his head in Phil’s hands. “The point is, Dan
I waited months to meet you. I spent so long wishing time would move faster, so that I could finally, finally have you, here.” Phil shakes his head, suppressing the overwhelming urge to just sweep Dan off his feet, chuck him over one shoulder and find the nearest parked car, motel room, or possibly large hedge. “The only thing I want to do right now, is be with you. I don’t care about parties, or Halloween or loud, obnoxious YouTubers. I just want you.”
It might just be the moonlight, reflecting off of the whites of Dan’s eyes, but they glimmer and sparkle, as though he’s holding back a tear or two.
“I just want you too,” Dan whispers back, like it’s a deadly secret.
Phil smiles at him, and then, because he can’t possibly control himself for a moment longer, he leans forwards and pushes his lips into Dan’s, freefalling at once into a vast, hypnotic chasm ripped through the fabric of space and time.
He is falling into Dan, headily, dreamily, and fast enough that he feels the motion sickness flooding his veins. He’s lightheaded, swaying on his feet as Dan kisses him back, those slim, pretty hands of his still clutching the hem of his hoodie, gripping tightly to his hips.
Phil draws away, feeling euphoric, just as he does every time he seals his mouth to Dan’s. It’s something he tells himself he has to get used to, but something he knows he never will.
Dan is smiling now, beaming, and the black marker Phil scribbled on his nose has faded where Phil’s rubbed against it. He’s adorable, he’s astonishing. He’s a thing of magnificence to behold. Phil winds his arms around Dan’s tiny waist, squeezing.
“Shall we get out of here?”
Dan nods.
