“Lucifer was definitely my favorite character design when I read (most of) Paranatural. It has so many layers. At first it's just a kooky wizard, then you notice the mustache is wings, then you notice the tongue is a tail and the whole thing is a bird in a cage, then you notice the whole thing is a lightbulb which ties into his light powers. It is such a conceptually dence design that manages to be amazingly simple in actual amount of details. It also just has a ton of character.”

Lucifer is one of my favorite creature designs ever, the fact this weird mix of things works together so well is a testament to what a great artist Zack is.

Hello!

If you're not too busy, would you mind listing some of the things you think count as death flags for Mr. Spender?

There's the obvious fact that he's the "old" mentor to group of young protagonists, but what else do you think would count?

OHH BOY ok so I'd think I'm a crackpot for this but since we're talking about Zack "Foreshadowing" Morrison. I have some thoughts

No harm in leading with the (chronologically) first thing that jumped out at me:

This one IMMEDIATELY made me antsy whenever I came back to it after my initial read, and considering Zack has referred to it on twitter in the past as one of their favorite jokes it's definitely not been forgotten about.

Second, the sheer amounts of near-misses, jokey or not, of Spender narrowly avoiding specifically lightning

Again, not much, but it's weird that it happened thrice, latter two of which had real gravitas rather than an one-off joke.

And third, Spender himself. He's repeatedly shown himself to be kind of a self sacrificing idiot, as well as prideful to a fault. Granted, it's both him and Mina trying to take on all the responsibility of saving Mayview and its inhabitants from their fate.. But Spender is exactly that right measure of doesn't-value-himself-enough (chest footprint aftercare or lack thereof), having an obscene amount of power (enables his loner act + pride) and poor judgement that has the capacity to put him at great risk. And it has!

Spender has not only shown low enough self-esteem to view himself as the de-facto scapegoat for the safety of the town, but also prideful enough to make very bad calls that end up in people, often himself, hurt (COUGH FORGE INCIDENT COUGH)

This is all conjecture, but it's definitely enough to make me worried about him :') Even if all this doesn't mean he'll necessarily die he's definitely getting (even more) seriously injured at some point. I love the guy but he's so far doing a horrible job of convincing me he wants to live bad enough to circumvent at least that

thinking about spirits rn

do you think spirits can change color? i mean, of course they can, davey said that he never let cryptide’s gray energy grow any paler, but do you think that means the spirits that are pale are closer to becoming wights than others? do you think a spirit can go from black and become lighter/gain saturation? like black -> dark purple -> purple -> light purple -> white? spirits can feed from spectrals with a different color than them, altho its more difficult. do you think they could adapt over time, their energy changing in hue so they could feed more easily if they were fed often/long enough, or do you think they are forever stuck as they are unless they go full white

Do we know what Spender’s big shadow monster is yet? I feel like we still don’t really have answer on what it exactly is other that something from That Night. My personal thoughts is it’s the literal shadow of the Great Woght - after all both Spender and Dimitri say their powers are only limited to their imagination.

Lucifer (Paranatural)

Lucifer is a spirit shaped like a bird in a birdcage --- he has a bright glowing eye, and wings that form into a sort of mustache shape.

As you'd think, Lucifer gives the human he lends his power to the ability to control light. He's described in the cast page as "Probably Not Literally Satan".

Lucifer treats Mr. Spender (the aforementioned human) as a sort of apprentice. He's cold, cynical, and logical. While he believes in doing what's right, he sees it as pointless --- nobody can stop what's coming, not even him.

I see your Shadow Mom AU and raise you: Lucifer & Cthumbra/Noctopus co-parenting AU. Cause let's face it, most of his birth family sucked.

Richard grows up to be an absolute hellion & the bane of Francisco's existence because he keeps breaking into his dojo to free the spirits.
