The past two days all she could remember was the weather being horrid. The rain was like a wall, and she couldn’t count on one hand the amount of people who had somehow gotten injured in accidents caused by the roads and the poor sight. Having pulled a late shift, and then a double she was positively exhausted when she stepped on her day shift. Her feet was aching, and the fluorescent light didn’t make the headache any better. Ophelia knew she shouldn’t even be at work. Yet, the guilt if she stayed home would eat her up. She would ask to leave earlier that night. 

As she was checking the IV lines on a patient, she heard a sound from behind her. The man in that bed had been unconscious for close to 24 hours. Turning to look over her shoulder, she noticed him turning his head to look at her. Now she remembered him. He was the Marine. They had his dog tags stored with his personal belongings. She remembered placing his necklace in his shoe with his phone and wallet. As he uttered a weak “hi” she quickly finished what she was doing before turning her attention to him. 

Gently placing her hand on his forehead she was glad he was fever free, no sign of infection as of now. “Hi,” she smiled pulling her hand away from his face “How are you feeling? Any pain?”

        ❝ of course you did. ❞ frankly, that was so very bobby that he couldn’t say he was surprised at the end of this little tale; napoleon can easily imagine the shock and horror that would stain any man’s face to have his advances met with a mouthful of blood at his feet, and truly, he wouldn’t have had any qualms against being a witness of it.

        it was probably quite a sight.

        he didn’t know what on earth would possess someone to be so atrociously forward, particularly with someone like bobby, who dwarfed even napoleon, by no means a small man in musculature or height. he’d have been a fool to attempt something so painfully tasteless, if he wanted to catch bobby’s attention; suffice it to say that he’s lucky he can rely on his natural charm.

        and that he’s not at risk of having droplets of blood spattering italian patent leather, on the occasions that he is straightforward.

        there’s still a touch of blood on his lips, which is what prompts napoleon to step away, running a cloth beneath a lukewarm stream of water at the sink and returning with it, extending it out in offering.

milo stands outside of the club, having managed to swerve a predatory older man at the bar in favour of smoking a cigarette in the chilly early-morning air. he leans against the wall, one arm wrapped around his tiny waist, and the other periodically raises to his lips so that he can take in the nicotine. the bricks are cool against his back through the material of his shirt, but his skin is like ice, so the temperature doesn’t bother him.

at the sight of the somewhat familiar man, he perks up. he’d be lying if he argued. 

‘ yeah? you going to do something about it, grand homme? ’

    HE’D BEEN SHUFFLING around to find her things and lay them out on the end of the bed,   all too aware that she probably wanted to leave when she woke up  -  that was fine.   when she yawned and asked the question,   bobby couldn’t help but snort quietly.   yeah,   he hadn’t expected much more,   really.     “robert.   you were jane,   right?”   as helpful as he was he offered her one of his shirts  (she’d probably drown in it,   but oh well)  and gestured at her clothes.   “your stuff is here.   sorry,   i just got back from a run and i kind of thought you’d already be gone when i came back.   it’s no problem,   don’t worry about it.   you can use the shower if you want,   and i’ll make something to eat on-the-go.”   he’d had weirder situations after one-night-stands and it only seemed the decent thing to do after last night’s escapades.   she was probably just as awkward as he was and,   well,   he didn’t have a lot to do today anyway.   he didn’t want to be that ass that kicked girls to the curb in the morning.     “i’ll leave you to it,   then.   give a shout if you need anything.     “last night was great,   by the way,   i hope you enjoyed it as much as i did.”

how very unlike herself.

of course, she remembered all of it. she remembered that it was pretty damn fun, too -- but she’d just never been that girl who did adventurous things like have one night stands. and she’d certainly never been the type to pick out a genuinely nice guy, either. it almost felt like a trick.

     jane took the shirt with a smile and then began the difficult task of trying to pull it on without showing any part of her body from under the sheets. there was a huge difference between someone seeing your body during sex and someone just seeing your body, and she wanted to avoid the latter as much as possible. “yeah, it’s-- jane. that’s me,” she said, running a hand through her hair in a stupid and futile attempt to tame it. she’d hate for the guy to look at her now and think jesus, i slept with a dog.

    “i’ll, uh... i’ll have a shower, if that’s okay.” the smile she gave him this time was a little closer to genuine, less nervous than the first. he seemed genuinely nice. “yeah, no, last night was incredible. beyond incredible.” she paused. “thank you, i guess? it’s just been a while for me, so that was... yeah. really good.”

Mythical Creatures 3/7 for @ltcrowell

Centaur

A centaur or centauress is a mythical creature which is part horse and part human. The upper body is a human, and the lower body and legs are that of a horse. They are also considered a hybrid. The original stories hail from Greece and Cyprus. They are said to have been created with the cross breeding of Centaurus and the Magnesian mares. He was said to have either been the son of Ixion and Nephele, or even Apollo and Stillbe. 

Centaurs were said to have inhabited the region of Magnesia and Mount Pelion, the Foloi oak forest in Elis and the Malean peninsula in Southern Laconia. There was said there were another tribe located on Cyrpus. Having their origin in the Greek and Roman mythology, they are today used  frequent in fantasy works. 

They are a proud species, and would frequent in warfare with the Laphits. The Laphits get their name from the twin brother of Centaurus called Laphites. Laphites was said to be a valiant warrior, and Centaurus a deformed being. Laphites is the ancestor of the Laphit people, and they would clash in warfare with their kindered species. The centaurs being half horse, the Laphit people were on the other hand mounted on horses, and famous for their horses. 

A story named the Centauromachy is when the centaurs were invited to the wedding feast of Pirtihous. They were not used to wine, and their wild nature came to the surface. When the bride was presented, a centaur leapt up and attemped to assault her. The centaurs lost the battle that the feast had turned into and they were expelled from Thessaly. 

Known as fierce warriors, they are frequently seen in modern times in fantasy works, sporting both bow and arrow as well as swords.

    HE GLANCED UP at her,   immediately reaching for his head and sliding his fingers over the short-shaved hair.   “oh,   that.   ‘s nothing.   i,   ehm,   had an intimate moment with the dinner table this morning when i dropped my keys.   didn’t work out,   definitely not going for a second date.”

          Despite  her  concern,  she  couldn’t  help  the  soft  chuckle  that  escaped  her  at  his  humor,  eyes  laughing  a  little  along  with  her.    ❝  It  must’ve  gone  truly  terribly  then  for  that  to  be  on  your  head.    Sure  your  table  doesn’t  have  a  grudge  against  you  or  something?  ❞    She  shouldn’t  laugh  again  at  his  predicament  but  she  couldn’t  help  but  smile  a  little...
