“Walk You Home”

Silver x Charon

The evening stretched on in the quiet library, filled only with the sound of pages turning and pencils scribbling across notebooks.

At a dimly lit table by the window sat two students side by side, one completely focused on the book in front of them, and the other… unable to stop sneaking glances at their companion's profile.

Silver blinked slowly, telling himself, “Just resting my eyes…”

But truth be told, he hadn’t looked away from Charon since they started studying.

Charon kept reading, unaware of the quietly flustered boy beside them.

“…"

“Did you get this part?” Charon lifted their gaze slightly and passed a note.

“Y-Yeah!” Silver jolted a little but quickly took the paper, trying not to seem like he’d totally spaced out.

“I got it. Thanks, Charon…”

They nodded softly and began packing up their things without another word.

Silver looked out the window.

“…Wait, it's already dark?”

“Mhm…” they replied, adjusting the veil draped over their shoulders.

“Guess we both lost track of time.”

Silver stood up quickly.

“I’ll walk you back.”

Charon blinked and paused.

“…It’s okay. I can go on my own.”

“I don’t think so, it’s really dark.” he said, scratching the back of his neck.

“…I just wouldn’t feel right if you walked alone.”

They stared at him quietly for two seconds, then nodded.

“…Alright.”

They walked side by side through the empty corridors of the college, the path ahead quiet and dimly lit.

Silver wanted to say something... anything... but couldn’t quite find the words.

Charon’s steps were steady, their veil fluttering gently in the night breeze.

“…"

“…"

He glanced at them again, then spoke, without really thinking it through.

“You… look good in the nighttime.”

Charon stopped walking.

“Ah, not like you look like a monster or anything!” he waved his hands defensively, face heating up.

“I mean… you seem calm. Still. Like you belong under the moonlight…”

They blinked.

And spoke in a voice calm, but somehow gentler than before.

“…Then maybe we’re meant to live in someone’s dream.”

Silver froze.

His heart skipped a beat.

“…You know?”

Charon said nothing. They started walking again.

“Charon…” he called softly.

“…Just getting to walk beside you like this—it’s enough for me.”

They stopped in front of the old Ramshackle dorm, leaning lightly against the iron fence.

“…You talk like I’m some distant figure,” they said, meeting his eyes.

“But truth is… I’m just a person.”

Silver smiled faintly.

“That’s even better, because I plan to write your name on every page of the story I’m living.”

Charon looked at him for a moment more.

Then quietly said,

“…Good night, Silver.”

And with that, he walked back to his dorm with a heart that felt like it could float.
