Nicki Minaj and Future announce co-headlining NickiHndrxx tour, release full dates AND venue locations!
Go ahead and “Pound the Alarm,” friends, cuz Nicki Minaj (a.k.a. Trinidad’s most beloved pop star bombshell) is about to hit the road again on what’s sure to be another epic-ly voguish worldwide tour…well, if you consider the U.S and Europe “worldwide.” :-/ The NickiHndrxx tour, as it’s called, will kick off September 21 in Baltimore, where Minaj will be co-headlining with none other than “global hip-hop icon” Future (maybe they’ll play rock paper scissors every night to see who gets the curtain act?!). The tour of course will be an album release celebration of sorts for Nicki, who will be dropping her fourth studio LP, Queen, just a month prior on August 10. (On a side note Future is also “readying new music for release” very soon, according to the press release, though exact dates and specs are still up in the air). All in all, NickiHndrxx will be visiting 50 major U.S. cities in total (see dates/venues below), before voyaging overseas on a European sojourn starting February 2019. Tickets for US dates will go on sale to the general public starting June 15. In the meantime, be sure to check get your rocks off with “Barbie Tingz” down below, which is Minaj’s latest single from the forthcoming Queen album. When the Brisbane band played late and loose at the Union Hotel in Sydney the mood spilled right across the room, freeing everyone of their inhibitions. When I heard their debut record a few weeks later it summoned the same sense of short-lived liberation; a weirdly desperate conviction that you must take that free feel when you can and ride it for all it’s worth.” - The Guardian So goes “Benefits of Solitude” — the title-track from Dag’s forthcoming, long-laboured debut — premiering today. It’s a four-minute unguided tour of the desolate landscape of Dagworld, where Cohen reflection and a stammer of alt-alt-country lazily swerve towards a more guided pop glow, placing the whole patchwork somewhere on the spectrum aside Lower Plenty’s travelling restlessness and the confessional comfort of Goon Sax. And while the Melbourne quartet’s previously previewed LP tracks — “Guards Down” and “Staying Up At Night” — land closer to the flowing nature of their post-Dunedin contemporaries, “Benefits of Solitude” is all its own beautiful mess, playfully poetic and upbeat, operating clearly as a mere mask for the unfiltered darker side. -Rolling Stone
