excuse the horrible excuse of a graphic, but photoshop is refusing to cooperate. i am looking for a ragtag group of rebel friends for my baby apollo, to fill my modern friends of the abc fantasies. you don’t need to have read/seen les mis to participate, you just need to have a lot of feelings <3

everyone in this group should be associated with VIGIL in some way! they’re very much their own little group, and sometimes they probably even stop crime together. mostly though, they’re major activists and proponents of social justice, and they are staunchly against PATRIOT. not all of them have powers, but they all know about powers. they’re a codependent bunch and they get up to endless shenanigans - imagine if the how i met your mother crew launched a rebellion. i’m looking for fun hijinks, anarchy and the occasional angst just to make things fun.

rather than go deep into detail about each character, i listed a couple of popular ~aesthetics. if you’re interested in snagging a spot, message me on discord (dia#0830)! with the exception of grantaire, all of the genders are open! (though i would love to see a f/f cosette/eponine!)

Here on Loyalty, we use a leveling system, to describe characters' powers. Powers range from Level 1 to Level 10, with Level 1 being the weakest, and Level 10 being the most powerful. You can find the breakdown of powers, as well as an example development beneath the cut. It's important to keep power levels in mind when joining the site! Your first four characters have a little more leeway, as far as the power levels go.

Your first four characters' combined levels cannot exceed the number 10!

Now what does this mean? If you bring on multiple characters, you must consider their combined levels.

EXAMPLES:

I bring on John, Jane and Joe. John is a Level 5, Jane is a Level 3 and Joe is a Level 2. Their combined levels equal 10.

I bring on Mary and Gary. Mary is a Level 9 and Gary is a Level 1. Their combined levels equal 10.

I bring on Mickey, Minnie and Donald. Mickey is a Level 4, Minnie is a Level 4 and Donald has no powers. Their combined levels equal 8.

I bring on Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo and Michelangelo. Donatello is a Level 3, Raphael is a Level 4, Leonardo is a Level 2 and Michelangelo is a Level 1. Their combined levels equal 10.

After your first four characters, the highest level you can register with is Level 5.

Leveling Up

The power level you begin with is not where you have to stay! If you wish to grow and develop your character's power, we provide the opportunity to level up. Based on the promotion systems of graphics/coding/writing sites, at the end of each month members will have the opportunity to apply for a higher level. To apply, members must complete the requirements and challenges for the level they wish their character to reach. These requirements are a combination of developmental & roleplaying posts, designed to encourage members to really delve into their characters' power.

When applying to level up, you are no longer beholden to the equals 10 rule. You can apply for one of your characters to level up, all of your characters or none of your characters. Leveling up is not required, it is simply a means by which to develop and strengthen a power, should you choose.

Characters that are Level 6 and under may apply for a level that is two levels above their own. For example, a Level 2 character may apply for Level 4. Characters that are Level 7 and higher may only apply for the next level.

Developing Your Power

You can find a description of each of the levels, as well as an example below. If you're still uncertain about how to develop your character's power, each level has a recommended positive/negative ratio. A positive milestone is something your character can accomplish with their power, whether that is related to the power itself, or your character's control over it. The drawbacks are negative consequences of the power, which can also be related to the power, or your character's control. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask a staff member!

Level 1

Level 1 powers are so weak, someone could live their whole life without ever realizing they even had a power, if it didn't develop naturally. Level 1 individuals have no control over their power, and instances of the power manifesting are impossible to predict. Individuals cannot develop a Level 1 power, it progresses naturally, and in some cases, the power never grows into a Level 2.

The power is at 10% capacity

1 "positive" milestones. 2 drawbacks.

Level 2

There is a little more control with Level 2, and the ability for a character to actively develop their power, though Level 2 can also naturally develop to the next level. With Level 2, characters can sometimes choose when/where to use the power, however it will typically be considerably weaker than if the power were to flare up on its own.

The power is at 20% capacity.

2 "positive" milestones. 2-3 drawbacks.

Level 3

Level 3 is more unbridled power than the previous two levels, with virtually no control. It is almost impossible for a Level 3 individual to choose when/where to use the power, it seems to have a mind of its own. Power flare ups are particularly prone to moments of strong emotion (imagine accidental magic, from Harry Potter). Level 3 powers will not develop naturally to the next level - characters must actively work on the power themselves.

The power is at 30% capacity.

3 "positive" milestones. 4 drawbacks.

Level 4

Individuals that have reached Level 4 have more control over their power. They're still prone to power flare ups during times of heightened emotion, but they are also able to use their power on command. Their power is usually weaker, when they are consciously using it.

The power is at 40% capacity.

4 "positive" milestones. 5 drawbacks.

Level 5

At Level 5, individuals have mastered the basics of their powers. They have much greater control than the lower levels, and are only likely to to experience flare ups during moments of extreme duress or emotion. However, despite this control, Level 5 individuals have not yet reached the height of their powers. They have more control than they do power.

The power is at 50% capacity.

5 "positive" milestones. 5 drawbacks.

Level 6

Individuals who have reached Level 6 typically have two tendencies with their power. They can use less power with more precision and control, or they can use as much of their power as they have mastered, with very limited control or precision.

The power is at 60% capacity.

5+ "positive" milestones. 4 drawbacks.

Level 7

At Level 7, individuals using their power no longer drains their energy. Depending on the power, they are now capable of using it almost indefinitely. Eventually individuals will grow tired, however at a much slower rate.

The power is at 70% capacity.

5+ "positive" milestones. 3 drawbacks.

Level 8

By this point of an individual's power development, their power can be extended. Depending on the kind of power, this extension can apply to a character's surroundings, other characters, or a larger physical distance that the individual's power can reach.

The power is at 80% capacity

5+ "positive" milestones. 2 drawbacks.

Level 9

Once an individual has reached Level 9, they have almost full control. These humans have peak discipline and power, and in some cases (depending on the ability) are able to affect others to the same degree.

The power is at 90% capacity.

5+ "positive" milestones. 1-2 drawbacks.

Level 10

The highest power level characters can attain on board. These individuals have reached nearly the full extent of their power, and in some cases, can even branch out beyond their basic power, tapping into the full spectrum of their power. Level 10 individuals rarely experience power flare ups.

The power is at 99% capacity.

-Create multiple small sparks

-Move fire up to ten feet from the source

-Cause multiple fires to grow simultaneously

-Extinguish a flame from up to ten feet away

-Generating fire in his hands will burn him

-He will grow tired after using his power

-Will experience power flare-ups during moments of heightened emotion

-After he grows a flame, he will be unable to extinguish it

-Can only hold fire for a maximum of two minutes.

Level 6

-Holding fire in his hands will no longer burn him

-He can "throw" fire from his hands up to five feet away

-He can simultaneously generate very small flames, and move other flames a small distance

-If touching a fire he created, he will only sustain 50% of the burns as an unenhanced

-Can use his power for much longer periods of time

DRAWBACKS

-After using his power for long periods of time he will grow tired

-When using such precise control, he cannot generate/manipulate large flames

-Losing concentration will cause him to burn himself

-Not immune to the smoke caused by fire

Level 7

-Can use his power indefinitely

-Immune to the smoke caused by fire

-Create fire from a distance of five feet

-If touching a fire he created, he will only sustain 25% of the burns as an unenhanced

Sora spent his childhood in intense solitude, making friends with shadows and the character’s in books because they were all he had. It wasn’t until high school when he got his first proper friend. Light, as I’ll call him, was the first person to ever really show Sora any interest or kindness or friendship. Eating with him at lunch in silence, picking up his books for him when someone else knocked them over, until finally Light was sneaking Sora into his bedroom at night for a safe place to crash.

Neither of them come from great circumstances or families. As soon as they graduated they escaped their families and for a long time lived out of a shitty Honda. Sora still very much lives in his own head but Light is the one person who has always been able to break through it all.

I really like being able to build relationships together. So while they’re finals a lot of this is open ended because I love sharing stupid headcanons about what they’ve been through and where they’ve gone and so forth. 

Sora’s ability has to deal with shadows, so it’d be interesting if Light’s had to do with light. Hence the “name” I gave him. They’d likely be mid 20′s-ish. Idk most of this is very open cause Sora’s only half-baked so far anyways.

--- ZHOU. ex-husband. club owner. syndicate. 33-38. preferred face: godfrey gao beatrice was born into the king family, a clan of low level syndicate members with loyalties to the o’reilly family, and a desire to climb higher. beatrice also had aspirations of grandeur, however her’s had nothing to do with the syndicate. from the time beatrice was young, she wanted to be a reporter - more than that, she wanted to win a pulitzer prize. she was never going to let anything derail her, not even getting pregnant with twins in high school. however, it did make things more difficult for her, and so she found herself working at the zhou family club, inferno, to put herself through college. inferno is too classy to be considered a strip joint, but the overwhelming motif is lust and carnality, with the secret rooms in the back being used for syndicate business. while working at inferno, beatrice caught the eye of zhou, heir to the zhou family fortune and empire. after a long courtship period, the two married. they had been married up until five months ago, when the two divorced. of course, it’s all complicated by beatrice’s pregnancy, and the fact that zhou could be the father. i would very much like to discuss the reasons with you, and i headcanon that they’re still in love. whether they get back together, they stay apart or it turns into a threesome/moresome, i’m very open to all potential outcomes!

Kitty and I are requesting two more characters to complete our emergency services ship! This is a poly ship between four men based on healthy communication and mutual trust. It’s very important to us that this is a healthy relationship - no falling prey to sitcom level misunderstandings or intense jealousy. a lot of this is very open, and if you’re interested, go ahead and read underneath the cut!

This request is for Matthew Bishop (33, detective, Chris Evans) and Bodhi Dan (35, firefighter, Sebastian Stan). For the purpose of the request, we will call character one DA and character two MD.

Matthew met DA when the two were in college. Matthew was an eager, bright eyed freshman, with his eyes turned towards space, while his roommate, DA, was older and slightly more jaded about the whole thing. His reasons for putting off college are up to whoever choses to take this request. A bit overwhelmed by everything, Matthew clung to DA somewhat, and since DA wasn’t looking to befriend a bunch of acne riddled eighteen-year-olds, and his roommate wasn’t so bad, the two became fast friends. Matthew learned about why DA was in college later, and DA learned that Matthew was poly (and proceeded to constantly tease him about the cute firefighter that came when Mattie stupidly set off the alarms, trying to make a hot pocket at two in the morning). All of their college years are up to us, I’ve left them very open. At some point, Matthew began dating the firefighter, Bodhi, and by senior year, Matthew was dating DA too. DA and Bodhi weren’t dating at the time, however they were good friends and had conversations about dating, but decided to take it slow. 

After college, Matthew joined the Air Force in order to get flight experience, to hopefully pursue his dream of becoming an astronaut. He, Bodhi and DA agreed to try a long distance relationship. At some point during Matthew’s tours, Bodhi and DA began to date (with Mattie’s full knowledge and consent) and Matthew met MD, a surgeon serving in the air force. After a lot of communication and time, Matthew and MD began to date as well. When they returned to Rockwell (up to you whether or not MD was from/had plans to go to Rockwell, or if he moved their with Matthew) and eventually began to date Bodhi and DA as well.

While we do have specific face claims and careers in mind, the rest of this is fairly open! Both Mattie and Bodhi have powers, but we haven’t plotted out anything regarding powers and how it will affect the group. Overall, we’re looking for a very healthy, loving relationship that faces challenges and tensions together, rather than falling apart from the inside. meet welbeck “becky” halliday, the oldest of the hellidays hallidays by one minute, and a certified human disaster. as the firstborn son of the disgraced duke of windsor, becky is equally disgraceful, and likely to bring just as much shame to the family name. then again, given the fact that he and his siblings are not-so-fondly called the “hellidays”, the family was always going to be royally screwed.

The city of Rockwell can be divided into five zones: North, East, Central, South and West. In each of these zones are the main residential areas. Below you can find descriptions of each area. Keep in mind: although there is a general reputation for these areas, each of them have a full spectrum of housing, so don’t feel like because your character is XYZ, they have to live in a specific place (except for DOMINION and SOUL characters!)

ALTHAM

SOUTH ROCKWELL

Altham is located south of the river and south of the tracks, and it doesn't have the best reputation in Rockwell. Though there are certainly nicer places that can be found in this zone, there is a lot of low-income housing, and many of the seedier businesses. The nightlife however, is almost as good as that of downtown Rockwell, and oftentimes it's cheaper too. Unfortunately the Syndicate has an iron grip on this part of Rockwell. Almost every establishment is either run by the Syndicate, or pays for Syndicate protection.

ARCADY

WEST ROCKWELL

Arcady is the newest housing development in the city, and the latest attempt to bring the suburbs to the urban landscape. Arcady is full of picturesque cookie cutter houses, with plenty of parks and ponds. It makes for a beautiful brochure, but it reeks of new money - something that both the wealthy and the poor of Rockwell turn up their noses at. Arcady does offer an escape from city life, however there's no escaping what Rockwell truly is - even in suburbia.

ARMSTRONG

EAST ROCKWELL

Nestled around the historical and financial districts of Rockwell, Armstrong is where the old money lives. It requires quite the hefty paycheck to live in Armstrong - or a lot of family money. It's a gated neighborhood, and almost every house has a staff that comes with the building. Entertainment wise, there isn't much to do around East Rockwell, and so most people travel downtown for a night in the city - or even as far as Altham if they're feeling particularly brave.

CARLISLE

NORTH ROCKWELL

Carlisle is something akin to a college town, within a city. North Rockwell is almost completely inhabited by college students, staff and faculty. Although Carlisle has a few buildings in downtown Rockwell, the majority of classes take place on the main campus. The entire surrounding area really revolves around college life, though there are plenty of families and residents who simply never left Carlisle after graduating, due to the affordable prices, and pleasant atmosphere - save for the frat parties.

DUNCAN BASE

SOUTHEAST ROCKWELL

Duncan Base is an abandoned Army Base that was used by the original Department of Neurophysiological Advancement during World War II. After the Rockwell Institute of Scientific Experimentation was built in 1948, it was abandoned. Now it is the home to S.O.U.L. Although it is often a drunken dare teenagers to break in, no one ever makes it past the outer wall, thanks to the near permanent force field surrounding the base.

CENTRAL ROCKWELL

Novak is located in the middle of Rockwell, and apparently the middle of the action too. It's right between the art district and the downtown, making it one of the more desirable places in Rockwell, though there is plenty of affordable residencies as well. Peace and quiet is nearly impossible to find in Novak, however a good time is never far away.

NORTHEAST ROCKWELL

The Rockwell Institute of Scientific Experimentation is a heavily guarded piece of land where the Rockwell Institute can be found. All D.O.M.I.N.I.O.N. employees and their families live there. Although visitors are allowed in after thorough background checks, it is regarded as a highly isolated and sequestered part of the city that no one really knows much about.

mama says there’s faces in the shadows, but no one believes her. they say she’s crazy. that she’s sick. they give her pills that swallow her up so she’s not my mama anymore. will they do the same to me if they find out i see them too?

There’s faces in the shadows. That’s what she confided in her brother about. In the edges of her vision she can see figures creeping about. Following her everywhere. Watching her. She sees faces in the shadows and sometimes fingers. Reaching out with inky black tendrils, grabbing for her but never quite able to reach.

The darkness that follows her starts to consume her. The faces, always watching, always there, always visible to only herself. No one believes her. Telling her that there’s no one there. Nothing around. But she keeps insisting. 

“They touch me,” she cries. 

“They’re consuming me.”

She’s hit rock bottom and her family is told she’s schizophrenic. Visual hallucinations. Paranoia. Intense mood swings. They give her anti-psychotics. A collection of pills to take every single day. She just wants the darkness to go away, so she takes them.

But it doesn’t leave. The faces remain. Watching her always. She can feel them while she sleeps. Because that’s all she can seem to do, is sleep. Sometimes for several days at a time with minimal periods of being awake. When she’s awake she’s no longer herself. Consumed by the dark. Swallowed up with the pills and replaced by someone who slept and screamed. Got angry at everything. Felt a depression she had never experienced before.

She sees faces in the shadows, and her son sees them too. He names them. Reads them bed time stories. 

But he dare not tell anyone, because then they might steal his spirit away like they stole hers.

interested in joining a group of tight-knit science nerds (that maybe want to take over the world via d.o.m.i.n.i.o.n.)? you’ve stopped by the right family! a lot is up in the air for the bishops, however they must be d.o.m.i.n.i.o.n., and they must have powers. except for milo’s twin, all of the faces are just suggestions (though we would really love if whoever takes the oldest uses ben affleck). i’ve listed the preferred careers, but if you really want a different job, you can pick a different career, so long as they are still working for dominion. all of them should have powers! the powers are up to you, as are the levels.

the epitome of the strong and silent type, BISHOP 1 is the oldest, and takes a lot of responsibility upon himself as a result. he has always viewed it his job to look after his younger siblings, and it’s easy to see why: the twins have no regards for boundaries, BISHOP 4 is always looking to prove herself, BISHOP 5 is a complete wildcard, and matthew has never really known how to take care of himself. he can struggle with showing affection, but he cares deeply about taking care of his family, and serving d.o.m.i.n.i.o.n.

milo bishop. 38. chris pine 1. dominion. telepathy. level 6. kindergarten teacher.

during his childhood the bishops were legitimately concerned that milo was a slight sociopath. his deft manipulations and his lack of concern for other people’s well-being triggered some alarms within the bishop parents, but once he began training at d.o.m.i.n.i.o.n. it soon became clear that milo dissociated to keep himself sane, due to his lack of control over his power. milo still dissociates quite a bit, and can come across as callous and unfeeling, but in reality, he cares deeply, and doesn’t often let himself show it.

likely the most reckless of the bishops, BISHOP 3 craves power. dominion has been good to his family, and BISHOP 3 is grateful for it, but unlike BISHOP 1, he doesn’t have the same strong allegiance to the organization itself, rather he likes the power it affords him. he cares about his family of course, however if it came down to a choice between his family and power, there’s no guarantee what he would choose.

for a brief time, after completing the academy at dominion, BISHOP 4 decided to try and strike out on her own, seeking a doctorate from carlisle university of rockwell, rather than the dominion programs. though she returned to work for dominion as a scientist upon the completion of her degree, her parents and siblings (save for matthew) have never truly forgiven her for ‘abandoning’ them, and she has been working to prove herself ever since.

the wild child. formerly an active field agent, after a catastrophic assignment that BISHOP 5 lead while intoxicated, she was demoted, and sent to be an analyst. though she’s a mathematical genius, and it’s an easy task for her, she’s still smarting at the humiliation, and has been lashing out at everyone, particularly her youngest brother who she has always resented.

matthew bishop. 33. chris evans. vigil. empathy. level 3. detective.

the baby in the family, and mostly in the dark about what his family actually does. unlike his other siblings, matthew’s powers didn’t manifest until he was an adult, and so his parents chose to keep him in the dark about powers altogether, allowing him to be educated at a school outside of dominion. although mattie loves his family dearly, he has always felt slightly ostracized by them, and has been retreating further and further away as of late.

why only two characters for each power?

we have a lot of powers listed - around 155 - and those aren’t just for show! we really want to encourage members to go the distance with powers, to explore abilities that maybe don’t always make the cut for the latest superhero show/movie. we have lots of ideas for events and site arcs that rely on varied powers. once we start filling up some powers we will most likely increase the cap. you will also be able to purchase a power that has been filled, via the site’s point shop!

to all of our new followers, welcome! we’re so happy to see you all, and we hope you’re as excited about this site as we are! we have a couple of updates to get everyone pumped.

first of all, we have an opening date! we will be opening the site on Friday, June 1st! the staff will be picking an exact time closer to the date, to try and accomodate as many timezones as possible.
