one poor person on reddit pointed out the queer coding in the whole scene at Rink o mania and the comments are making fun of them because they worded the post as asking if Rink o mania is a gay bar instead of just pointing out the queercoding... obviously it's not meant to be a gay bar in the story literally, but denying that it has tons of queercoding around Will (and Mike) is absurd we have a literal song called In the closet(at Rink o Mania)...

we have these in the background when Will is skating and watching Mike...

plus like Roller disco was considered a queer thing to do, like they make a joke of it also in That 70s show when Jackie and Fez go to that competition... they literally choose this activity for them because it was popular in the 70s for the gay community

we have also background people on dates, the girls holding hands because they can act like this and still be considered just gal pals and the boys that are lowkey dressed like Reddie in the remakes of It.... + we also have queercoded songs, A FEW not only one.

bonus: we have Will standing with the bi colors flag decorations in the background as Mike approaches him before their fight full of tension

like... even IF all those things were just to signal that Will is gay that is something present in the show and it's intentional and reading comments of people saying that it's all just a coincidence is so freaking weird??????

We just watched the It movies for the first time and my mom lowkey ships Reddie 😳

At first we were just talking about the queer-coding after the first movie (she picked up on Eddie’s without me prompting so I was like “yoo let’s go” and brought up Richie and she immediately took my word for it (rare.)) But by the end of chapter 2 she was making comments like…

Eddie: Richie, I have to tell you something.

My mom: “I love you.”

Eddie: I fucked your mom.

And then when they were cleaning up in the quarry and Richie started crying she said “I don’t see why they couldn’t have ended up happily married together.” So she’s against the “bury your gays” trope ✊

And then when Richie was carving the initials and I sobbed she gave me an empathic/sad smile.
