if september 30th never happened:

leon often times pondered the idea of what would have happened if he had never seen zombies. if he never went to the police station only to see the corpses of the people he was meant to work with. he mourned that. he mourned his younger self, not being able to enjoy that life. so, one day, he asked his partner, "what do you think?" leon crossed his arms against his chest.

a snort escaped, "i don't know. i never met you during that time." they caressed their chin, they thought of leon they knew. "you would exactly the same. just less depressed." they admitted with a shrug. leon turned bashful, his cheeks turned red and the tips of his ears felt the burn, but he liked those words so much. even if september 30th was his curse, he was worrying about nothing. he was just leon. he was only thankful of that night for one thing. leading him to a life with where he is cared for by them.
