last thought of the night is about toji washing the dishes after dinner while you sit at the table and talk his ears off... he's so incredibly content with this that it's almost scary. he watched you eat the food he made – he listened to that pleased hum as you took your first bite and he memorized the way your eyes lit up at the taste. he 'scolded' you for trying to talk with your mouth full but failed to keep his growing grin at bay because the sight of you like this after a tiring day is truly the best comfort he could ever wish for.

and now he gets to listen to you talk. he glances over his shoulder and clicks his tongue at your weird sitting position but doesn't say anything. he just wants you to keep going. tell him about your day, tell him about the cat you saw on the way home – he soaks it all up and then lets himself feel the warmth spreading behind his ribcage. with you there, he feels safe. and happy.
