Another year...

Today we celebrated my birthday. 34...34 years old. All of my clients say I’m a baby, I say, holy shit I’m old! This birthday just didn’t feel like a birthday. It felt like just another day. Usually I find myself enjoying my birthday cake with the kids, and nothing. For now I will accept that I’m getting old(er) and embrace it. Why? Because I’m not getting any younger!

The scariest thing ever...

We enjoyed Christmas Day to the most. KC had been sick with pneumonia for 10 days prior to Christmas Day, but was on medication for it. He didn’t seem to be getting better but after 3 doctors visits and 1 ER visit we thought he would be on the mend.

Wrong!

Steve got home from work on Christmas night at 11:30, I was up with kc because he was coughing and vomiting from coughing and all around sick with a fever. Steve tried relieving me but I needed to be with him. I remember Steve telling me to go to bed and he would stay up with him. I told him it was fine. Next thing we know, KC starts coughing and throwing up again, this time his fever was 102.5. Steve suggested we go to the hospital, and I didn’t argue.

We got to the hospital at 2:30AM, long story short, after 8.5 hours in the ED, they finally admitted KC with atypical bacterial pneumonia. 3 awfully long days in the hospital.

I entitled this “the scariest thing ever” because I watched my son almost die. He was drowning internally and he was fully infected. If hadn’t been taken in when he did and we waited and did what the doctors said, he would have died. Below is the detailed version of how the one night was that I was alone with him:

After enduring what was the longest night of my life (fully awake for 27.5 hours), I appreciate KC a little bit more. I can’t imagine my life without him, and the bond that we have will never be broke!

Tournament season!

This guy wrestled his first tournament and won a round! We’re pretty proud of him winning one all while having a 102 fever!

Squeaks?!

I brought the laptop home to do some work as KC was home sick. He was non-stop bugging me, so I told him to sit next to me and do some of his own “work”. Our conversation:

Me: why don’t you get some paper and a pencil and do some of your own work?

KC: that’s a great idea! What do you want me to write?

Me: I don’t care, anything you want to write!

KC: okay. How about I write my new nickname, squeaks?

Me: okay! Write squeaks...

KC: *proceeds to write “squeaks” the way he thinks it’s spelled...*

Me: ummm...Kace...honey....I don’t think that’s how you spell squeaks...

KC: Miss Seaman tells us to write how it sounds. That’s how I spell squeaks!

Me: okay...I got nothing, but let me show how to really spell it...

KC: fine. But this is how I spell it on my own!

Happy Birthday, KC!

Tonight we celebrated this kid turning 6! Six whole years old. In his words...”I’m ready for a job and to take on the world!” This kid is going places. The excitement of seeing him open his presents was just as exciting for me! Why? Because I forgot his birthday annnnnnnd Steve did the shopping 🙊
