Story time!! After I had decided to retire my baby Jett, I took a few years off from riding. I couldn’t afford to responsibly keep another horse, and after riding and competing since I was 8, I was a little burnt out. After a few years away, I decided to take some lessons at an actual eventing barn, and attended my first lesson at Frazier Farm. I was 40 pounds heavier than today, but this little saint, Karen, helped get my butt back in shape. Little chestnut mare Karen helped me gain confidence after not riding for a few years, and I even got to compete her a few times! She was an awesome schoolie with a ton of heart, and even in her old age, still loved to jump! So today I say thank you to Karen, for helping me re-ignite my passion for riding, and making me feel confident enough to compete again, even when I was really, really out of shape!! This beautiful shot (taken by Tara of @how_she_saw_it ), shows the beauty of the old concrete flooring you’ll find throughout our farm. When I was a little girl, running around this farm, I thought this, and several other buildings, had dirt floors. Turns out decades of soil and grunge had covered these rough, pebbly floors, and with some scrubbing (and oiwer washing!) we found them. They’re actually tough to work with, you can see how uneven they are. But this photo, and it’s astonishingly beautiful butterfly (or moth - I’m not good at telling them apart) highlights the beauty of this rough-mixed floor. Thanks, Tara, you’ve got an amazing eye! .
