i love how passionate and emotional fic seongjoong is when irl they're like... an arranged marriage... lol
#not to say that they don't like each other or anything but. atz in particular seem quite aware (and not hiding it) of the practice of#ships -- not as in 'fans produce fanworks of you' but rather 'fans like your dynamics! play it up a little'#and the leader + the second 'highest' member are almost always shipped together as the 'mom' and 'dad'#which kind of doesn't make sense because a marriage usually precedes having children but in kpop is like. well here's a group and you're#two eldest members so you automatically get the mom/dad positions. sometimes it works -- whether automatically or because the#aforementioned members feel the need to take care of other members as they're the eldest -- but sometimes the dynamic is clearly#just there for the fans. and i can't help but notice that a whole bunch of 'moments' in 'seongjoong compilations' are like... not authentic#moments of them enjoying their time together but them being awkward/having awkward banter/doing fanservice during fanmeetings#and that's Different from the organic air ie woosan have#this is not to make fun of seongjoong fans because I PERSONALLY put very dramatic seongjoong in my hashtag Fic Verse#but then my fic verse was kickstarted because of that hwalazia magic and a single line in atz diary from fever 1. so it is. shall we say.#not particularly canon-inspired.#but i WOULD kill and die for every single fanfiction in which seongjoong aren't romantic sweethearts at the first sight but rather Struggle#i feel like Struggling is this... sort of a facet of their Brand... and so is mutually taking care of each other lol#they're like. this arranged marriage couple who grew to care about each other. not like 'oh shit two months in i realized i'm incredibly in#love with my spouse!' but 'yeah yknow what i like you here. stay'#good afternoon everyone enjoy this meandering and probably incorrect analysis of a relationship between two kpop lads#shrimp thoughts

as someone who’s very excited to read your Dess raises Kris AU, something that i’m really excited for is the dynamic between Dess and Chara! From the little excerpt we saw of them in the past i’m so curious as to how they’re relationship functions / how it’ll effect Kris growing up and such. If it isn’t too much to ask, could you go a bit in depth as to how they ‘work’ in a sense?
jkegkjdfgdf IT MEANS SO MUCH THAT UR EXCITED.....WOW.....like i am too its just so fun to know other people are!!
and! yeah so. i go into them a lot in this post here where i said. a lot of what my ideas are right now (and its said better lol) but i can for sure talk about them forever and ever and ever. most relationship of all time.
under the cut cause Oh My God it was not supposed to be this long.
so!!! i think a lot of how dess and chara work is that as time goes on it becomes increasingly obvious that They Do Not, actually. like, the way i see dess is that she is very much a person who needs to be on the move--she cannot stay in one place. that just...isnt who she is, and its stifling, and she HATES being weighed down. and kids, uh, sorta do that to you lol. vs chara, who like...has defined xirself around this role xe took up, 'cause the huge difference between them is that chara chose to have frisk and dess just sorta ended up with kris, right? so thats one point they arent ever going to like, understand the other one on.
so a lot of what leads them to deciding to stick together is this sense of loneliness they both feel...dess for being someone who is always on the move has also always had people with her: azzy, for one, but i think shes also the sort of people who makes a lot of like, surface-level friendships? i think shes A Lot and most people never get to know her that well, but like...chara DOES. and vice-versa for chara: people never bother to get to know xir, but dess WANTS TO. dess really truly cares about xir and xir life and who xe is which is very new for chara. cause before this all xe's had is frisk who is. literally a two year old and doesnt have any other choice lol.
theyre both people who have been dealt a poor hand in life in regards to dark world bullshit, something they cant exactly get help with through like, traditional means. they meet when theyre both super young--iirc dess is 18, chara 21? 22?--and yknow, raising a kid at that young an age isnt the most common experience. dess has run away from home, basically, and chara's a college dropout with a biological family xe never want to see again...neither of them have anybody else! they dont have any help! so they bond over that, a lot. its like...seeing someone Like You for the first time in your entire life.
and all that said its the kids thing that really throws a wrench into everything.
because dess cant stay still, right? she cant. shes not wired for it. but chara does, and she trusts chara, and chara doesnt mind watching kris, so dess doesnt feel bad leaving them with xir. but. a day becomes a week. week a few weeks, a month, a few months. as time goes on dess coming home grows more and more sparse. but theres this sense of like...chara doesnt really know who xe is, anymore, outside of this family xe has? outside of being a parent and spouse? so to chara, to leave dess is like, unimaginable. dess is xir person. dess loves xir, which is something xe cannot really comprehend as a loveless aromantic, but having never been loved in xir entire life (chara had a Bad childhood lets just say) its like...dess chooses xir. and sure, shes gone a lot, but when she does come home, her home is XIR. her home is chara. its gloriously dizzying.
and dess does feel the same way!!! dess never really means to leave chara for so long, she just...loses track of time. hates being Needed by kids in any way more than a cool aunt they see occasionally. funnily enough she gets on with frisk better because frisk doesnt really expect a mom out of her. (that isnt to say its returned lol kris likes dess wayyyyy more than frisk does. but for dess its easier to be around frisk cause they dont expect anything). if the kids werent a thing chara and dess would actually work a lot better--chara is a lot less adventurous and likes staying back and tending to things, but without frisk to like, REALLY cement that xe'd enjoy going out with dess, probably not into dark worlds but travel might be nice. and dess wouldn't feel so much pressure, if its just chara, 'cause chara kind of just likes dess for who she is. so for just-chara, dess could stay. dess is used to people wanting her to be someone else--her mother, her father, hell, even AZZY, who like...he never acted on it, but he had a crush on her for their entire friendship. she knows he'd rather she return those feelings.
but chara GETS HER. chara cares for her in a way that doesnt want her to become something she isnt--its why they get married!! dess never felt romantic love, and still doesnt, but its chara who makes her go--oh. oh, so i think i know why people might get married, actually. its saying--youre my person, and chara is her person. and vice-versa, of course. dess is this light chara never had.
but. of course. they have two kids.
which. complicates things. dess puts chara first--she LOVES chara, loves xir in every single way she can feel love. but chara...chara cares about dess, a lot. its why xe's really blind to a lot of xir faults for a while...because thats dess. xe doesnt know where xe would be without dess. but chara is a parent. frisk and kris do come first.
the kids are like, aware of this. frisk is very much aware of this--they're younger than kris but they dont have these rose-colored glasses about dess, and they sort of notice, how much of a toll it takes on chara to be a single parent, essentially, still. dess sends money back--she IS sort of the breadwinner lol, turns out selling weird dark world things is sometimes actually a viable career--but she doesnt, like, parent. when she comes home shes a friend. but not a parent.
kris fights with chara a lot. idealizes dess. its that idea that the parent who has to be the PARENT, be the one to say no, be the one to deal with all the crying and meltdowns and just general messiness of raising another human being, is the one that also gets the most flack. dess is never around! which is hard, but it also means she never messes up. at least in kris's eyes, lol.
for frisk and kris dess really is the one thing that like, gets in between all else. its the wound they all keep opening again, because shes never around, and it hurts. whenever she comes back and stays for a week when she said a month the kids know how sad chara gets!! how lonely xe is! but kris writes it off because dess will come back, and frisk grows bitter. its the one thing the two dont talk about because its the one thing that fractures their sibling relationship. every serious fight the two have is in some way about dess.
the entire reason why noelle and kris end up meeting? because kris thinks that if they prove themself as brave like dess, and dive into and close a dark world like she does, she'll stay longer this time. but of course all that does is get them stuck.
dess never does things maliciously. she does, really, truly, care about chara, kris, frisk. but she also just...does things. she never looks before she leaps. she shies away from facing consequences. and thats like...the sort of thing you CANT do, when youve got kids. but she never wanted them. she never meant to take kris.
she's just. in too deep. and chara does NOT hold her accountable which doesnt help. it would be best for the kids if chara got a divorce but. chara cant do that. xe cannot be alone again.
OKAY THAT WAS A LOT. uh. if you (general) wants to know more!! hit me up!!! tho i will say i'll have more to say about other relationships lol, i think i've said most of what i can able dess&chara right now. BUT I AM ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT THIS AU I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ON HOW IT CHANGES THINGS--
#drkau#ask#deltarune#i hope this is! something lol#everything is subject to change as i write them cause im way worse at Describing this relationship than writing it#i wrote a lil 4k word test of it and i just want to gesture to that like there. read it. youll see#but thats just for me lol idk where id even post that.#but yeah. i say a Lot on this blog but i am better at putting that into like#writing yknow? where i can show it#BUT THANKS FOR ASKING I LOVE TO TALK ABOUT IT STILL EVEN IF ITS DISJOINTED AND MESSY#hint hint nudge nudge if anybody wants to ask about other character relationships :3 ive put a lot of thought into them all#like. did you know susie and kris went to middle school together.#that toriel and carol are married#that the asriel and noelle relationship is So Fascinating#DO YOU KNOW HOW KRIS AND NOELLE MEET AGAIN CAUSE ITS REALLY GOOD#god you dont even know what things are like when kris and dess are revealed to be alive. oh my god

I absolutely do not go here but I'm always delighted to hear more about your beautiful dilf <3
🍌🫐🔥
kissing you on the mouth dearest milk spouse.
🍌 favorite funny quote from a wip
“You know what I told Rebecca, right before that first interview we had?” Ted said. “I can’t imagine.” “I said, that Trent Crimm,” Ted poked his chest lightly, and Trent couldn’t help a little smile, “he’s one tough cookie.” Between that and ‘cool person’, Ted really had a habit of calling Trent things he’d never been called before. “But you know what ya do with tough cookies?” Ted grinned at him, and poked him again. “You dip em in milk.” “Ah,” said Trent. “Well, consider me…” he visibly winced even as he spoke, “dipped.” “Regretted that one as soon as it came out?” “Yes, immediately.” “Yeah, I get that.”
🫐 a line from a published work that you’re proud of, but no one’s mentioned yet - or if you can’t think of one, an underrated line in general
okay i couldn't think of any special meanings so i just went with a bit i like from "lost sight of (who you are)" :)
Part of it was that Trent actually liked himself when he was with her. He tried very, very hard to be a good father. He never wanted her to feel the way he had as a kid—the way he does now. He never wants her to think I love my dad, but I don’t want to talk to him, because he is exhausting and he hurts me. He never wants her to stay silent because she thinks he can’t handle what she needs.
He lets himself be soft with her, lets himself be silly. If the gaffers he talked to and the players he covered could see Trent Crimm, feared and vicious reporter, perched on a small pink chair with a teacup and a lopsided tiara in his hair, very seriously discussing dragons, they’d probably laugh. It doesn’t matter, though, because they don’t, and even if they did, it would be worth it.
For now, though, his reputation is plenty safe. No one would think of Trent Crimm as soft, or kind, or likable, and that was alright, because he wasn’t, really.
🔥 wild card: dealer’s choice of quote from a wip
"Colin," Trent said after a pause. "How many friends would you say I have?" Colin thought for a second. "I dunno," he said. "I always pictured you hanging around a bunch of English professors or something. Yknow, smart and sharply dressed types." "Mm," said Trent. "Flattering, but. including you, my ex-wife, and Coach Lasso, who likes everyone, I'd say I have about..." he pretended to think about it, then turned his flat expression back to Colin, "...three friends."

Dream daddy au-welcome to the neighborhood pt1
This is kinda the prologue before you do any dad dating, congratulations you have a daughter
Also I’ll work on the choice parts during work so worry not it will be up soon.
You pulled your car into the driveway gazing at the new house that sat there staring back at you. A house was honestly something you weren’t expecting to do but you figured it would be time to plant your roots. Your divorce had been finalized finally and you found a cute little two bedroom home in a cul-de-sac that you seemed like the perfect spot to raise your daughter.
“I gotta potty!” Your six year old daughter Charlotte screamed out from the back seat making you snort with laughter before you got out the car and helped her out now holding her while walking inside the house. “
“Well let’s get ya inside before you explode, yknow that happens when you don’t pee you blow up into pieces of confetti”
You snickered at the small gasp followed by her bouncing in your arms urging you to go faster before she dies. She could walk, but she that would require you putting her down and she wasn’t letting go quite yet.
Once Charlotte was done you watched her run out now full of energy, your plan was to do some packing, take a nap, and maybe dream about setting up a garden in your backyard knowing that you were never going to manage it but it seems Charlotte wanted to leave even though you two just got there.
“Daddddd! Let’s explore!” She huffs out and you kneeled down to her level. “Char, you don’t have any desire to stay inside and cuddle up to me while watching princess movies?” You asked lightly hope shimmering in your eyes but your six year old quickly squashed that
“No, that sounds boring right now” now you had to change out of your grass stained sweatpants and interact with others, the things you do for love. You watched as Charlotte sat on top of a plastic container now flooring on the lid of it though you were a little unclear where the crayons came from but you decided to ignore that for the sake of your sanity. Before you could change out of your clothes you heard a knock on your door, once opening it there stood a man with glasses holding what looked to be chocolate cake in a container
“Hello there, my name is Theodore I live next door and I just wanted to show my welcome” you were not expecting such a nice welcome, oh yeah and theodore’s words were sweet too. Feeling a little awkward you grabbed the cake only to feel it tugged out your hands by an eager six year old who darted away into the kitchen.
“Your baby hands won’t be able to open that Charlotte!” You called out before turning your attention back to Theodore who was a little shocked but gave a smile. “You have a daughter? How sweet. Though what about your spouse?” He asked out and you rubbed the back of you neck. “I just got my divorce finalized after a few years they didn’t want to be a part of Charlotte’s life and fled to an exotic country” neither one of you said a thing and it seems Theodore was regretting ever saying anything his eyes glancing away as he nervously fiddles his thumbs.
“I-oh I’m sorry, I should have been more respectful forgive me!” He said with a short bow before trying to change the subject cause things were getting tense. “Well I’m the owner of a daughter as well-wait that sounded a bit funny like they were a car or something” Theodore fumbled with his words making it even more awkward before he let out a shaky huff.
“I’m sorry, we don’t get new people here a lot so I’m a little nervous, what I mean is that I have two daughters and one son” sir what!? You couldn’t think about handling another Charlotte let alone two charlottes and a chad.
“Oh, I’m sorry...so sorry” you mumbled out slowly before silence crept up once more and Theo gulped before letting out a big sigh. “Okay, so me and the other neighbors are all having a party tomorrow at my home please come. I swear it won’t be this awkward” the male cheered out with a charming smile. After you agreed and closed the door you walked to the kitchen only to see Charlotte covered in cake
“You were supposed to save me some you little troll” you huffed and rolled up your sleeves, preparing for what comes next. Like that one guy in that dinosaur movie you crept near her slowly your voice hushed. “Charlotte, it’s time for a bat-“ before you can finish she took off running giving you the chance of a lifetime.
“Baths are evil!” She screamed out as you ran after her best you could. “Charlotte you have to take a bath you have chocolate in your ears!” You huffed out and after an hour of running the both of you took baths and got dressed.
Thankfully all that running plus warm water tuckered Charlotte out so she was in your arms dozing off, this meant no random exploring with you so this was a win. After tucking her into bed and kissing her head you walked out her room now closing the door.
You checked the time with a small hum, it was around seven which was her bedtime so this was perfect. You did get dressed though and your child is sound asleep for the night...would it be bad to go out?
You figured a stroll around wouldn’t be too bad just as long as you don’t stay out too late. You took a late night stroll making your way to the park somehow before a faint sniffling could be heard. This was either a vampire with a cold or a zombie those were your choices. As you gazed around you saw someone sitting on the bench crying, the closer you got the more awkward this became for you.
“Erm...hey?” You called out seeing the male gaze up his eyes were like pearls or something they looked real cool. “Whose there?” He called out and you sat next to him. “Names y/n, a-are you okay?” You asked out only to hear him sniffle once more tears running down his face faster.
“I-I-I-my son said he hated me tonight, th-that he couldn’t stand me. I don’t know what to do I-I mean what can I do? I-I just, I’m sorry I’m piling this all on you..I’m axis” he mumbled out and gave you a shaky laugh.
“Can I vent to you? Everyone else i talk to just calls me sensitive and says I talk too much, I just really...really need a shoulder to cry on” he mumbled out and you checked the time. It was 7:15pm this guy looked like he had hours and hours of baggage
Let him vent
Decline and go home

Slip Up
Word count: 1,445
Summary: Chris convinces you to go on the tonight show with him and subject yourself to Jimmy Fallons curious games, specifically the spousal version of know your bro. And of course embarrassing secrets are revealed, just not by the person you originally thought would slip up.
Warnings: uhhhh it's just an interview my dudes, there's talk of a butt naked Chris Evans and like some curse words but very few, and like mentions of sex but nothing graphic. Oh. And the word Daddy... I'm sorry. lol not sorry. And like bad writing cuz I'm v rusty....
A/N: Ha! I wrote it! I finally wrote something in two goddamn years. So, to explain the bs that you're about to read if you so choose, I was on a Chris Evans/ Steve Rogers binge. This was mostly due to one @venusbarnes and her beautiful works Occupation: Brat and Heavy Is The Head. Both are amazing and if you suffer from the same afflictions I do you should definitely read them. Anyway, so I watched that one interview with Chris and his brother and I had this idea and poof here it is. Soooooooo I hopes ya like it. I tried real hard. Also thanks to my lovely editors Andrew and Ashley whom this would never see the light of day without.
You had seen the episode with Scott and Chris. You knew how much Jimmy loved to get all the dirty little details out of Chris. You knew just how easy it was to get those details, Chris said it himself, he's a terrible liar. You knew if you went on the tonight show with Chris something was going to come out, and Chris knew this too, which is exactly why he begged and pleaded for you to agree to do an episode with him. And of course who could say no to those precious baby blues? Besides maybe Jimmy wouldn’t have you guys play the game that brought much embarrassment to Scott Evans, right?
“So, here's how the game goes, well Chris you already know how to play, y/n, I assume you’ve seen the episode where Scott and Chris played the game?” Jimmy looked between you and Chris, who sat to your right. You nodded, laughing “yeah I've seen it and I'm going to be honest I'm just a little bit scared to play it.” Jimmy looked at you incredulously, “what why? Why would you be scared to play it?” “because of him!” you gesture dramatically to a very cheeky Chris next to you, his childish grin furthering the point you're making, “who knows what's going to come out of his mouth? He’s an actual child!” this caused an uproar of laughter from Jimmy and the crowd and for Chris’s grin to widen even more. He looked at you, eyes sparkling with mischief “yknow what's to say I shouldn’t be afraid? You're no better a liar than me babe” you scoffed at that, turning back to Jimmy who you could tell was itching to get the game started. “okay well since you both know how to play ill just describe it real quick for those who might not know, and we’ll let Chris wear the headphones first since its y/n’s first time playing” Jimmy said, handing you the headphones, which you helped secure on Chris’s head, while he sorted through the question cards. Chris immediately started bobbing his head to the music “i love this song!” he practically shouted into your ear. You laughed, playfully shoving his head away and turning back to Jimmy. “okay so while he's... distracted... I'll ask you a question and if your answer matches his answer then you win, simple as that capiche?” you nod, giggling as you glance back at your boyfriend, dancing horribly in his seat, he looks up and winks at you as mouths the words to what looked to be Stacys mom.
“Okay so first question, what is the most embarrassing thing Chris has done around your parents?” Jimmy looks up at you as your brow furrows in thought, “the most embarrassing thing he's done in front of my parents? Wow um okay, that’s a tough one he's actually surprisingly smooth around my parents, at least around me he is” you pause in thought for a second before your eyes light up with an idea, “wait okay here we go here's a story! There was one time, my parents came to visit for a week or so and they were staying in our guest room,” you paused and looked at Jimmy and immediately saw what he was thinking, “no, I know what you're thinking stop thinking it they didn’t ‘hear’ or ‘see’ anything like that” you said pointedly, “however due to Chris’s habit of walking around ass naked they may have seen just a little bit more of him than they wanted to...” Jimmy gasped “no! Your dad saw his dick?” you nodded, tears forming in your eyes as you laughed, “all three of us did, we were in the kitchen when he came sauntering in, I guess he forgot my parents were still there” Jimmy eyes widened “your mom saw his dick?” “oh, she didn’t mind, him and Hemsworth were the only reasons we could ever get her to watch marvel movies,” that earned a laugh, “my dad didn’t offer him any sausage at breakfast and that might be the funniest part.” Jimmy was leaned back in his chair cackling at this point, finally fell forward, attempting to slow his laughter “okay, okay Chris, take ‘em off, let's see what his answer is.”
Chris pulled the headphones from his head, eyes wide and staring at you, “yknow all that talk about you being scared of what I’ll end up saying, I'm genuinely scared of what you were all laughing about.” you grinned back at him, eyes sparkling, “don't worry babe, I didn’t go into too much detail.” Jimmy pulled your attention back from each-other, “okay Chris, let's hear your answer, what's the most embarrassing thing you’ve done in front of y/n’s parents?” Chris’s eyes widened and he let out a long sigh. “the most embarrassing thing I've done? God everything I do is embarrassing, okay umm god okay is it the time I-” he turned to look at you and see your reaction but Jimmy caught him in time, “no! No cheating! Don’t look at y/n, this is your answer” Chris sighed, turning away from you, “okay okay, god, okay uhhhh it has to be the time I walked in on you and your parents butt naked and your dad refused to offer me sausage at breakfast right?” you and Jimmy gasped as the crowd cheered, a look of relief washed over Chris’s face. “okay good sounds like got that right, there were so many other things I could've said that probably would've been much worse...” “worse? How many other embarrassing things have you done around my parents?” you questioned at the same time Jimmy asked “worse? What could you possibly do that’s worse than walking in on your spouse’s parents butt-naked?” Chris just grimaced at the two of you, “that's a story for another time.” Jimmy laughed, “okay well let's move on to y/n’s turn, shall we? y/n will you don the headphones?” you nodded and fitted the headphones around your ears, flipping through the available songs to play Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.
Chris turned to look at Jimmy, who grinned mischievously as he posed the question. “okay Chris let's get you in some trouble, shall we? Your question is what is y/n’s favorite thing to call you in bed?” Chris’s eyes shot open wide and he began stuttering “w-w-w-what Jimmy, c'mon man do you want me dead? This is the exact thing that will get me killed” jimmy just laughed and nodded encouragingly. Chris sighed and dragged his face through his hands, “okay uh well there's two answers to this question, there's what y/n’s favorite thing to call me in bed and what my favorite thing is. Y/n, well y/n is a huge marvel nerd so calling me Captain is probably the big one. It's like roleplay I guess.” a few wolf whistles emanated from the crowd, making them both laugh. “ooh okay, Captain, I bet y/n isn't the first person to want to call you that in bed.” Chris shook his head chuckling, “no, definitely not, but don’t tell y/n that.” “alright” Jimmy gestured to you to take the headphones off, “y/n you can take those off now.”
You let them slide off your head and looked to Chris, “that was short, I only got through one queen song.” “see! I'm trustworthy! I didn’t say anything bad!” Chris exclaimed. “okay y/n, the question was what is your favorite thing to call Chris in bed?” Jimmy asked as he leaned forward, his eyebrows jumping up suggestively. “your eyes widen slightly but not even a heartbeat passes before you're answering, “oh easy, I call him Captain like all the time.” Jimmy throws himself backwards in his chair, cackling. “you said that so casually I love it!” you shrug, cocking your head to the side, “listen I get to bed Captain America, you can bet your ass I'm gonna be calling him that, who wouldn’t?” Jimmy finally regains his poseur and leans forward one last time, “okay y/n, can I ask you one more question?” you nod for him to continue, “okay y/n, what is Chris’s favorite thing to be called in bed?” you don’t even blink and the answer is flying out of your mouth, “oh, Daddy.” the entire studio erupts into laughter as your face turns beet red upon realizing what you said aloud. You look over at Chris who's smirking triumphantly, “and you thought I was gonna be the one to say something embarrassing.” you roll your eyes, shoving his face away from yours. Your head drops into your hands and you groan, hoping to god your parents aren't watching.

A warning just because there’s a focus on dead parents and specifically the mourning of them so like yknow. It’s not exceptionally sad about it but just as a heads up.
Title: Visit Characters: Audrey, Amelia
Audrey’s face always falls naturally into a frown. It’s something that has been pointed out to her recently, and though she’s been trying to practice adjusting her neutral expression to be more of a flat-lipped look than a vague, unaggressive glare, it’s a hard habit to break out of. Still, right now, it saves her a little extra work, since it means that her face has less distance it needs to fall when she genuinely frowns, olive-colored eyes staying locked onto the cemetery gate as the car slowly pulls inside. Her grip on the flowers in her hand tightens a little, before her gaze moves over sharply to Amelia in the driver’s seat, brows dipping slightly as if trying to judge the other’s body language.
Amelia remains calm, though, focus staying fixed on driving smoothly along the thin road within the lot. She must be playing it cool, because even when Audrey visibly turns herself to aim at Amelia, the redhead doesn’t acknowledge her attention at all.
“What are we doing here, Amelia?” Audrey finally asks, and her voice is already just a touch on edge. She doesn’t exactly mean to come across quite as hostile as she is, but she suddenly feels put under a spotlight she didn’t agree to, one she has to assume Amelia knew to place her in position for given that it was Amelia’s insistence that they bring the flowers.
Amelia’s lucky that the location she’s looking for isn’t too far away from the entrance off the street, as she doesn’t exactly want to have this conversation while trying to twist and turn along the curves here. She’s letting the car drift to the side of the small road and reaching to shift it into park when she hears her name said again more curtly. “Hold on, hold on,” Amelia requests, before finally getting the car safely stopped to where she can take her foot off the brake.
Once she can turn her focus from that, it falls fully onto her girlfriend instead. She reaches her hand out, coming an inch or so from Audrey’s before hesitating. They’ve gotten past Audrey’s initial inexperience with contact, but given that this is a touchy subject, she still gives a few seconds of wait. It’s only after she can see Audrey turn to look at the hand near hers, but not pull her own hand out of reach of Amelia’s, that the redhead allows her hand forward, carefully and gently taking the pale one in her grip. It’s a little bit of a relief to see Audrey’s expression soften slightly at the touch.
“It’s just- look, we don’t have to, but… I was just thinking about what you said last week.” Green eyes squint a little, trying to rewind back to focus in on what specifically would have prompted this. “After I introduced you to my parents, remember? I figured- I dunno-.” She turns her own face away for a moment and gives a shaky laugh of her own, suddenly feeling in trying to explain her reasoning like she has no idea what she was thinking herself. “Maybe it’s stupid, I don’t know. You just seemed really upset about your parents not getting to meet me and I- I wanted to make you feel better. I wanted to find some way to make that happen for you.”
She pulls her hand away after another moment, lifting both up to run down her face slowly. “This probably wasn’t the way to try and fix it; I’m sorry. We can go if this’d make you uncomfortable or upset or-.” Her voice stops sharp at the sound that comes from her side, a sniffling sound that had clearly been attempted to be covered up. Her eyes find Audrey’s face again in an instant, and a wave of guilt hits her to see Audrey visibly fighting tears in the passenger seat. Her hand reaches back for Audrey’s again, taking it and rubbing at the back of it with her thumb, spilling out a handful of apologies and assurances that she didn’t want to upset Audrey doing this.
“We can go- I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have done anything, we can go, I just- I didn’t mean to- we can just go.” It’s a little awkward, trying to reach over with her far hand while keeping the other one’s hold on Audrey’s hand in tact, but Amelia still manages to shift the car back into drive with her free hand, pressing her foot down on the gas again. The tires shift on dirt and gravel as they start to roll forward again, Amelia’s free hand once more moving, this time to the steering wheel.
“Stop,” Audrey says suddenly, spoken as a shaky breath that comes out sounding more heavy with tears than she means it to. The hand in Amelia’s grip pulls free, rubbing with frustration at her eyes, while the other hand reaches over to touch fingers against the hand on the steering wheel. The blonde waits until she can feel the brakes reapplied, slowing the car back to a full stop, before she moves that hand to shift the car into park. “I’m not- I’m not upset,” she manages to get out, still struggling to wipe at her eyes.
“Yeah, you look totally fine,” Amelia counters back. Her shoulders dip a little and she reaches the hand now freed from holding Audrey’s up. It moves to Audrey’s cheek, softly touching the skin there to help with wiping at the tears. “Seriously, Aud, if you’re not up for this-.”
“I want- I want to do it,” Audrey insists, starting to nod in confirmation before remembering the other’s hand on her cheek and keeping her head a bit steadier. “I’m not- I’m not upset because of you, I promise.” A slight hiccup from the tears breaks up her words for a second before Audrey sniffles again.
Amelia frowns at her, though not in a judgemental way. She’s not doubting what the other is saying, but she feels bad for putting her in this situation again anyway. She’d already felt bad when Audrey had gotten upset during their conversation about it before, and to see her fully crying now hurts, too. “But you’re upset-.”
“No,” Audrey corrects, shaking her head before taking a deep breath, though it sounds a little choppy as she does it. She rubs the hand that’d been at her face onto her skirt, trying to dry it off a bit. “No, I’m not- I mean, I’m crying, yes, but I’m not upset.” Another deep breath, and she finds a little extra comfort when Amelia reaches her hand back across the blonde’s neck to rub reassuringly at her shoulder. “I want to do this, I just- it’s just-.” She gives a small chuckle, one more judgemental of her own behavior than finding anything actually humorous about the moment. “That’s really sweet, Amelia,” she finally says, lips pulling into the struggled attempt of a smile. She takes another breath, this one coming out a little smoother as she starts to settle, though just barely. “I’m just… really touched and… and I guess it made me think about how much I miss my parents again, too, so I’m a little upset at that, but also it made me…,” she glances away, trying to work out a way she feels comfortable expressing the thoughts she means. After a beat or two of her thinking, as well as another sharp inhale as her breathing settles, she looks back to Amelia and finally offers, “really glad I have you in my life instead?”
There’s a soft, but wide smile spreading out onto Amelia’s face. It’s not much in terms of being expressive, but to Amelia, it doesn’t need to be. She knows her girlfriend well enough to read between the lines, and so the hand resting on the steering wheel lifts and reaches to cup Audrey’s face, this time on the other side. She leans in, guiding the other closer as well. Her actions are slow and easy, pressure light enough to allow Audrey to pull back if she wants, but the blonde closes her eyes and lets herself be led into a kiss. It holds for a few seconds before another sudden inhale and sniffle mix prompts Audrey to pull away. Amelia allows a soft chuckle to slip out at that, before responding back, “Love you, too.”
Audrey glances away again, but can’t do much to disguise the red on her features, already bad enough from her crying and now made worse at that. Still, the corners of her lips have pulled back and up a little, signifying the hint of a smile.
They sit in the car for another minute or so, giving Audrey the time she needs to compose herself again until they can step out. The two tombstones aren’t that far from the car once they do start over, and Amelia lets Audrey step closer first. The blonde’s glad she’d decided on flats instead of heels thanks to a whim on the way out the door, for it makes it much easier to step across the uneven grass, though she does let her hand rest on her mother’s tombstone to steady herself a little as she leans over to set the flowers between them. She spends a few moments adjusting them so that they sit properly, before standing again and moving back to position herself level with Amelia.
There’s a few moments of silence, and in them Amelia reaches down, finding Audrey’s hand again and taking it, intertwining their fingers as an extra source of support. It seems to be what was needed, for Audrey finally finds her words again. She greets both of them, her mother first, then her father, giving a soft nod to each tombstone as she does. There’s another beat, a deep breath, and then Audrey lifts a hand to gesture at Amelia, “This is my girlfriend, Amelia. Um-.”
She falters, but Amelia picks up for her when Audrey can’t sort past her loss of words. “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Greene,” she says, nodding to each marker as well. They both have a simple, but well-designed picture of flowers carved into them, and under that, their names, dates, and a declaration that they were a beloved spouse, parent, and friend. It’s only half intended that Amelia squeezes Audrey’s hand in the moment, but she’s glad she did it when she hears sniffling start up again. “It’s really nice to meet you both. I’ve heard only good things from Aud, I promise.”
A half-breaking chuckle slips out of Audrey’s throat before she swiftly turns towards Amelia, burying her face against the redhead’s shoulder as tears start up again. Amelia reaches with her free hand for Audrey’s free hand, taking that in her hold instead and releasing the other one. The blonde reaches forward with the now released hand, finding Amelia’s jacket and curling fingers into it, as Amelia reaches the arm around Audrey’s shoulders, rubbing her back soothingly.
Amelia hesitates herself, sparing a moment as she tries to work out what to say, before continuing. “We wanted to make sure I could meet you both, though. Aud met my moms last week so- they loved her, by the way. You two raised a really great woman. Though, I mean- she’s your daughter, as if I have to tell you.”
Audrey breaks out into another tear-mixed laugh, shoulders bouncing up and down in amusement as she presses her eyes against the fabric of Amelia’s jacket. Amelia chuckles as well, questioning what Audrey thinks is so funny; she’s being honest here. The pale face lifts up a little, and Audrey uses the movement to lean in, brushing her lips against Amelia’s cheek. When she pulls away, she nods in agreement, acknowledging that she knows that, but claiming that she thinks it’s funny that Amelia is leaving herself out.
Her eyes are still very red, but Audrey’s settled her voice again enough to speak with mostly steady words as she turns back to the tombstone. “I told her last week that I knew you two would have loved her if you could have met her- I guess she didn’t believe me and wanted to see for herself.” Her eyes flicker back to Amelia, and she leans into the redhead with a soft, teasing bump of her arm and torso. She waits a few seconds before gesturing forward and nodding as if in confirmation. “See, they can’t find a single bad thing to say about you.”
“I mean, we did just meet. Give them time,” Amelia counters back, a playful smirk slipping onto her lips as she leans back into Audrey in return.
The visit lasts a little bit, with Audrey and Amelia trading turns telling stories about how they met, how they started dating, things like that. Amelia can tell sometimes that Audrey feels a little silly, standing there recounting tales they both know seemingly to air. It’s a conversation that had come up between them before; Audrey’s struggles between being a woman who always preferred facts first and could not, with evidence, justify the theories of spirits or an afterlife or anything like that, but also being a woman who loved and missed her parents very much, and was comforted by the idea that they might be in a better place, that they might be able to listen to her when she occasionally visited their graves to tell them about changes that had occurred in her life.
Audrey herself is most relieved by having Amelia there, though, someone else to help her feel more justified being there. She’d always believed before that she’d feel more comfortable going to her parents’ graves alone, no one around to judge her if she teared up or talked too long to what she sometimes reluctantly considered was probably just the air. There’s a surprising amount of comfort to be found in Amelia’s place at her side, though. A relieving feeling of solidarity and support that she never expected to feel. She finds that thought again, that she is glad for the redhead’s place in her life, creeping back into her mind, as they finally wrap up their visit and give their goodbyes.
Amelia notes again it was good to meet the two while Audrey punctuates the visit by saying they’ll stop by again when they can. Amelia notes the word choice, the inclusion of her in this ritual that Audrey’d previously only felt comfortable doing alone, and she doesn’t say anything about it as they turn back towards the car, but there is a warmth growing in her chest at the realization.
They only let go of the other’s hand when they make it back and split to open both car doors, sliding inside. Amelia starts the car back up, but doesn’t pull away yet, giving Audrey another moment when she notices the blonde staring forward, seemingly caught up in her thoughts. When a few more seconds pass, she reaches her hand over, folding it gently on top of one of Audrey’s. It’s enough to snap the woman out of her thoughts, and she turns to look at Amelia in surprise for a moment, before her expression softens to something of gratitude.
“Thank you, Amelia,” she says, smile forming slowly on her face. She twists her hand around so that she can hold onto the other’s as well. “This… this meant a lot to me,” she admits, and then a second later lifts her other hand up to set fingers gingerly against a jaw, holding Amelia’s face still so that she can lean in to kiss it.
It’s a small thing, a lingering peck if anything, but when Audrey pulls back from it, she smiles once more and declares, “I love you, too.” It’s not the first time she’s said the words, but she speaks them, explicitly like this, so very rarely that it immediately prompts a matching smile on Amelia’s face before she leans back in for another kiss.

kiwi pipes in and pulls miriam to the side "come on miriam! you've been so harsh since shes been here..i know...audrey isnt the best person...at times...but! she simply wants to help! i see that this is a good change!"
miriam sighs and smiles alittle "...as much as i wanna just kick her into the water and have her stay here....i cant say no to you kiwi..."
miriam turns over to audrey "ok ok...you..audrey...."
she grunts "you can come along with us..."
audrey is seen dumping water and fish out of her boot "really?..heh uh! great!"
miriam snarls and gets up in audreys face "dont think im gonna like you through..."
kiwi pulls miriam away abit and smiles at audrey

NOT an Anti-Aarmau rant: Just hear me out.
So I think I figured out why Aarmau isn't my absolute favorite ship on MyStreet. (Disclaimer: I do like Aarmau. It is adorable. And I don't ship Aph or Aaron with anyone else. They're great together. Just not my favorite.) Here is my big controversial statement: Aph and Aaron have it too easy. I know what you're thinking. How the heck can they have it too easy when they just had to be apart for a whole year after Aph was brainwashed by a supervillain archetype (because that's all Ein is now, but that's a whole 'nother proverbial can of worms) and Aaron, yknow, almost died? Well, on the outside, yeah, they can have it pretty rough. They have outside issues they need to overcome every once in a while, but to be fair those issues are pretty big. My problem with Aarmau is that they have very very very few internal issues. They don't fight very much. They don't disagree very much. Heck, we rarely see them talk about anything really serious. They exist to be the perfect couple, right? Why would they fight about stuff? Perfect couples don't fight, right? Wrong on both accounts. A. There is no such thing as a perfect couple. And B. All couples fight. I'm not talking about screaming matches and life-altering brawls. I'm talking about heated discussions about leaving the toilet seat up or "Please for the love of God pick up your stupid sock and put it in the hamper." Little stuff that won't break the relationship, but allow for negative emotions (which everyone has, perfect spouse or not) to be communicated. Aph and Aaron never fight. Now, that's all well and dandy if they were intended to be the solid relationship that everyone looks on and wants to emulate. Which I think is what Jess is going for. (Plus art reflects life. I'm sure Jess and Jason feel a certain closeness to Aph and Aaron and who wants to see characters based on you and your spouse, however loosely, airing dirty laundry?) But the thing is that Aarmau isn't just a cute ship for Kawaii~Chan and viewers to fangirl over. It is the main focus of the series. And as the main focus, it needs to move and grow and change in order to stay interesting. Externally (which Bluejay Studios has on lock, great job on that) and internally (which needs a little work). Aph keeps repeating in the new episode that she just hopes Aaron hasn't changed or now finds her unattractive, etc. Which would be very interesting if we didn't already know that everything is going to be fine between them no matter what. Aaron will never change against Aph. And Aph will always be attractive to Aaron. Because nothing internal every happens to them. All their issues are ALWAYS external. The world is trying to break them, but they just are too much in love. Romantic as heck, but not particularly interesting to watch as a multi-season series. Don't get me wrong, I adore Aarmau. I think it's sweet and adorable and, yes, I shed a tear when they met again in the new season. I support the ship. I think it's great. But it is not written to be a main focus ship. The way it is written currently, it is written to be a side story ship that weaves it's way into the main story. (Focussing on who knows? We certainly have enough interesting characters that we never really spend time with since there are so many. But that's a rant for another time.)
#aphmau#shipping discussion#will not disrupt the aarmau tag with this#doesnt fit with the cute fics and fanart#begging your pardon for the rant my friends
