Everyone Secretly Wants You
Pairing: 13th Doctor x Reader
Word Count: 3,528
Warnings: None
Summary: The Doctor takes her fam to an art gallery, showcasing the work of Ava Centuria, her favourite artist of the 42nd century. However, she gets more than she bargained for when said artist takes a keen liking to you.
A/N: I know today has been... a lot. So here's something short and fluffy I wrote to take my mind off of things. Keep yourselves safe and surrounded by love my friends. All the best everyone and lots of love ❤️
“Well then,” Graham said. “Art galleries have certainly changed.”
You had to agree. It didn’t really look like any sort of art gallery you had ever seen before. There were people performing on stages, gallery goers were dressed in multi coloured neon robes, and food that changed shape on on the trays the waiters carried around. It looked like some sort of fancy festival, and you felt like any second you would see Billie Eilish casually stroll around beside you.
You loved it.
“It’s the 42nd century Graham!” The Doctor cried. She was hard to miss, she had replaced her coat with one that was a bright neon blue. “No one cares about stuffy rich people etiquette at these sort of things, it’s why Ava Centuria is so amazing! She completely reshaped societal norms, she made kooky mainstream.”
“Sounds like fun,” Yaz said encouragingly, and she was giving the Doctor a pair of thumbs up. It looked comical, her finger nails were each a different neon colour, and she wore a black suit with neon coloured stripes, reminding you of the kind of thing a school principal would wear to a carnival, except, well, neon.
As the five of you entered, you passed a towering banner that had a woman’s face plastered across and the word ‘Welcome’ written beside her. She was quite beautiful, with sharp cheekbones, long curly black hair, and painted red lips.
“Woah,” Ryan said, as the whole lot of you craned your heads so you could see it more clearly. Ryan had gone all out for the gallery, and had neon green wings painted under his eyes, which matched the neon green blazer he was wearing over a white shirt. “Is that her? This Ava chick.”
“Yup,” The Doctor said proudly. “Oh I can’t wait to meet her, I bet she’s a riot.”
Then a pair of bells rang and you jumped, clutching onto the Doctor with a yelp. Your heart sat in your throat and the Doctor placed her hand onto yours. You soon found your gaze met with hers, and your heart continued beating rapidly, but this time, for an entirely different reason. In this light her eyes almost looked like they were bright green. They sparkled under the light, and for a moment, you were mesmerised.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“Yeah,” you breathed out, tearing yourself off of her. “Just startled.”
A small marching band began walking past, wearing bright red uniforms. One of them blew something that looked like a kazoo, and it let out the shrilling bell sound that had just startled you. The Doctor gasped, her eyes shining in delight. “Oh I am following that,” and without another word, she had zoomed off.
The rest of you looked at each other, exasperated. After one moment, then another Yaz rolled her eyes. “Alright, okay, I’ll follow her. If we get into trouble I’ll ring.”
“Not too loud I hope,” Ryan said with a smirk. “Wouldn’t want to startle Y/N.”
You gave him a glare, that was only half fake.
“Oh nah,” Yaz said, and met Ryan’s smirk. “Without the Doc around, there’s no one for Y/N to cling on to!”
You began to splutter out a protest but the other’s laughed, and before you knew it, Yaz jogged off with a wave.
You sighed dejectedly. “I really was freaked out.”
“We know,” Graham said. “Just teasin’ is all.”
You, Ryan, and Graham began exploring the art gallery. Ryan nudged you on the shoulder. “When’re you gonna tell her anyway?”
“Tell who what?”
“You can play confused around her,” Graham said, by your other side. “But we know better.”
You rolled your eyes, and a waitress appeared in front of you, offering you a platter. You watched for a moment as the collection of little cakes changed from neon orange to neon cyan, and they looked almost as if they were glowing. It was so cool. You plucked one off the tray and shoved it into your mouth, nodded your thanks and then grinned ruefully at your friends as you sidestepped away from them.
The cake was nice. it wasn’t a flavour you could identify, but it was sweet and fluffy, like a cloud.
Graham took three.
“C’mon Y/N,” Ryan said, skirting around the waitress so he could catch up to you. “You know she likes you back.”
“I’ve no idea what you’re talking about,” you lied. “I just want to eat some cake and look at some funky art.”
Also a lie.
Graham held out one of the cakes to Ryan, and, in doing so, essentially barred you in between them. Ryan took off a chunk and popped it into his mouth. “What’s got you so worked up about it anyway, it’s not as if you’re as emotionally awkward as she is,” he sounded like he was speaking from experience.”
“You too,” you said. “Are the worst wingmen in the history of wingmen ever. Now I’m going to go over…” You glanced around the room, trying to find an area that was relatively crowded. “There,” you said, pointing at a crowd of people gathered around a stage where a man was eating… was that fire? Wow. “So,” you continued. “If you’re going to butt your noses into my love life, I suggest you keep up.”
You dove under Graham’s arm and ran. Look, it wasn’t as though you didn’t like them – of course you did, they were some of your best friends. But it was awkward talking about the Doctor. It was so confusing, she, was so confusing, and you didn’t have the energy to think about it right now.
You slipped into the crowd and scurried to the front, dogding and weaving through neon coloured bodies. When you made it you ducked, turning around so you could try and find Graham and Ryan through the gaps in the people.
There, in the back, towards the right. They were standing around like lost puppies. Good, you had definitely lost them.
Slowly, you navigated your way through the crowd until you were by the other side. This area was far quieter, and you ducked into a narrow hallway.
You’d lost them, and with it, you had lost those annoying questions.
You’d find them soon enough, you just needed ten minutes where a ‘will they, won’t they’ conversation wasn’t the focal point of anything and everything your friends wanted to talk about. Ten minutes without knowing smiles and staring at each other like they were in on some secret, or like they were characters on The Office.
You found yourself in a relatively empty room, save a few individuals. There was clothing propped up everywhere, and you quickly realised it was on display like a stagnate fashion show. Slowly, you began walking around the room, taking it all in.
And then you saw it.
Completely and utterly confused, you stood in front of a dress. You caught snatches of conversation from the people next to you, who were praising the piece for its creativity and out-of-the-box presentation, but to you... well, it was ugly.
It held a clattering of different patterns; the skirt was made with stripes of cheetah print, rainbow polka dots, red gingham, and acid washed denim. The top clashed even more, and was made of a sequinned fabric, one that, when you moved it, you assumed would change colour.
You weren't sure if it was supposed to be an open smock or a cape, but a sheer, neon orange fabric was drapped around behind the dress and over the arms of the mannequin. It ended in huge black ruffled lace, lining the mannequins wrists and the kissing the floor.
Now, this wouldn't be too bad if there were any structure to the dress, but it was cut into a t-shirt shape, so there wasn't any reason, practically or otherwise, to separate the skirt from the top.
Not to mention the Edwardian style ruff collar that sat around the neck, was made out of, of all things, CD’s – which apparently still existed. You wondered if it was a commentary on something, though you couldn't think of what.
You screwed your face up, concentrating, trying to find something, just a single element about the dress that you liked. It was just... awful, you were sure you could even argue that as an objective fact. Surely the thing broke some sort of laws about fashion and style.
"It's a social experiment," a warm voice said beside you, and you jumped. You hadn't heard anyone coming.
You turned to face the person who owned the voice, and assessed her thoughtfully. You recognised her, but you weren't sure from where.
"I thought I would explain it to you," she continued. "Since you were quite obvious on your distaste for the piece."
The realisation dawned on you like a wave of ice water, running through your mind and down into your bones. Her high cheekbones, her wry cherry red smirk, her unruly, uncontrolled black curls dancing under the light as she cocked her head to the side, it couldn't be.
But it was. Standing beside you was Ava Centuria, the artist whose work was on display.
The artist who had designed this dress.
The artist who had just called you out on not liking her dress.
Your realisation must have shown on your face, because she broke out in a pearly laugh. "I do appreciate constructive criticism though. So, tell me, what don't you like about it?"
You gauged her thoughtful. Part of you was about to splutter out an apology, tell her that you actually really did like her work. But that would be a lie, and somehow, under Ava Centuria's warm gaze, lying to her just didn’t feel right.
You looked back to the dress, then to her. “Honestly. I… I just think it’s ugly.”
She let out a delighted laugh again, and you realised it was actually quite a lovely sound. “You’re the first to say that.
”“Is that a bad thing?” You asked, because really, you had just insulted her work, and she seemed happy about it.
“It’s refreshing,” she said, and she regarded the dress. “And you’re right. It is ugly. I made it so on purpose.”
This just made you more confused. “I’m sorry? Why would you do that?”
She gave you a kind smile, and you felt yourself warm in response. Ava Centuria really was striking, it looked like she had been moulded by the gods. She was the kind of beautiful that poets wrote about. “Like I said, it’s a social experiment.”
You smiled at that, thinking of the Doctor. You would have to show her this, she loves a good experiment. “What are you experimenting?”
“People,” she said, and she brushed her arm over your elbow, guiding you with her to look around the room. Her touch was warm, and you found that you didn’t mind her touching you at all.
“I find it terribly interesting,” she said, her voice low and soft in your ear. She was so completely close – you could smell her perfume, which was sweet, like a warm Spring breeze. “That something could be completely mundane, or even downright awful, but, if you give it prestige, suddenly everyone completely and utterly adores it,” when she turned to look at you again, her eyes sparkled. “It is why I appreciate you, you are honest. It is not something I am accustomed to.”
It was a sobering statement. “That seems like a lonely way to live.”
Her expression faltered, her wry grin falling into a small, sad, smile. “It can be” she gave you a knowing look. “Sometimes, though, I am lucky enough to find someone who can make the days just a little bit brighter.”
You thought about the Doctor, who lied so often, and kept so many secrets. Was she lonely too? Even with the fam, even with you with her? Did you help make her days brighter?
“I’m terribly sorry,” she said after a moment, recatching your attention. “But I didn’t seem to catch your name.”
You noticed she had still not let go of your arm, and was caressing you slightly with her thumb.
You chuckled. “I never gave it.”
“Surely then you must share it.”
You told her your name and she smiled. “Ah. Y/N. It is fitting. It is a beautiful name for an equally beautiful person.”
You felt your eyes widen and your ears tense. Had she just-
“I am an artist,” she continued. “I know these things.”
You felt your cheeks grow hot. It wasn’t often people as gorgeous as Ava Centuria just casually flirted with you.
She stuck out her other hand. “I am Ava, by the way.”
It was such a bizarre turn of events that it startled a laugh out of you. You took her hand. “I know who you are, Ms Centuria.”
“Ava,” she repeated. “And, I know. But I felt it was important for a formal introduction, especially when one considers what I am about to ask you.”
You paused at that. Ask what?
“I would like to give you a tour,” she said. “A personal one, just for you. I would very much like to hear your thoughts on my collection and…” her movement on your arm faltered. “I would very much like to get to know you better, if you would let me.”
Under the lighting, Ava’s hair seemed to glow, like a halo of light was wrapped around it. She looked ethereal, and you couldn’t believ that she had just –
Oh gosh, Ava Centuria had just asked you on a date. Now. As in, immediately.
“Oh Y/N,” a familiar voice called out. “There you are, I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
You turned to see the Doctor strolling up, her neon blue coat billowing behind her. She… there was no other word for it, she looked awkward. Her hands were balled into fists, and she was giving you a strained smile. Behind her, across the other side of the room, stood Yaz and Ryan. Yaz was giving you an incredulous look, as if you had just taken the last cake from a tray, and Ryan, Ryan looked like he was about to whoop into the air, or shake you.
You had no idea how to interpret either of those looks.
“Doctor,’ you said and her smile softened as she met your gaze.
You turned back to Ava, sure that you had flushed, and untangled yourself from her grasp. The Doctor was beside you - and when had she appeared? She wrapped her arm around your frame, pulling you in to your side. "You must be Ava Centuri?" She said, but her smile seemed too wide, too forced. "Oh I'm a big fan!"
Ava stiffened. “Well,” she said, and her voice was distant. “It appears I am at a disadvantage, Y/N has not told me about you.”
“Oh! Well that’s surprising, I’m Y/N’s number one. We’re very, very close, Y/N and I,” her other hand fell across your arm, the spot where Ava had just been holding you. “We’re two peas in a pod, birds of a feather, made from the same cloth, you could say. Oh, a match made in heaven! Like Bonnie and Clyde,” she scrunched up her face. “No wait, not them, They died.”
“They also killed a lot of people,” you added. “Which wasn’t great.”
“That to,” The Doctor said, nodding to you like it was the most serious conversation you had ever had. She turned back towards Ava. “I’m the Doctor.”
“Well met Doctor,” Ava said, and she seemed to genuinely mean it. “I’m quite sorry though, you see, Y/N and I were-”
“Oh yeah!” The Doctor said. “I’m terribly sorry,” She squeezed your shoulder again, and it looked like the Doctor wasn’t sorry at all. “But we have to be off. We’ve got loads of things to meet, people to see, and places to do,” she scrunched up her face again. “No, wait, that’s the wrong order.”
“Things to do, people to meet, and places to see,” you supplied.
The Doctor grinned at you, utterly delighted. You felt a swell of pride in your stomach, you loved that you were the cause of that smile.
“Ah,” something seemed to dawn on Ava, and she looked in between you and The Doctor. Her eyes lingered on the Doctor’s arm, which was still securely wrapped around your waist. That small, sad smile from earlier returned. “I, I do believe I understand,” she turned to the Doctor. “You have found an angel among mortals, be sure you remember that.”
The Doctor audibly swallowed, and her grip on you faltered, for a moment. “I – uh, yeah. You’re right. Completely right, actually. Always knew you were clever.”
She nodded. “Good,” she turned to you. “And dear Y/N, if you ever find yourself wanting to entertain the whims of a lonely artist, I really would consider myself so very lucky.”
You didn’t know what to say.
She took your hand, and placed a delicate kiss on your knuckles, a part of you felt your arm tingle at the contact. “I best not keep you then. It was a pleasure meeting you, Y/N. Doctor.” She gave the Doctor a consolatory nod, and left.
“Huh,” The Doctor said. “She was… I’m not sure I liked her as much as I thought I would.”
You hummed, not necessarily agreeing, but not really knowing what to say. You watched Ava walk away with a small frown. You hoped she was okay, she had been kind. She deserved kindness.
She wasn’t someone who your heart could belong to.
You turned to the Doctor. “So, what’s up? Is everything okay?”
The Doctor paused, her face falling. It was almost as if you could see the cogs turning in her brain, but you couldn’t work out why she was thinking so hard. “I think Graham’s gotten lost,” The Doctor said suddenly. “So I think it’s high time we find him and get out of here, what’d you say?”
You nodded, and, still holding you, The Doctor and you began walking out the room. You found your friends gathered outside the TARDIS, in fact, neither you or the Doctor had even paused to find Graham. You assumed Yaz and Ryan had done so, when you and the Doctor were talking to Ava.
On the way in, you noticed how the neon everyone was wearing glowed under the crystals. The Doctor was gorgeous in a way you couldn’t describe. She was here, present, by your side. It was so tangible, suddenly.
You had never noticed before, the way her hair softly fell around her face. She had bright neon stripes of green in it, and you wondered, absentmindedly, when she had had them done. The chain from her earring glinted in the soft light, the stars along the chain glittering.
In a soft voice, you asked. “Why the neon, do you think?”
“I dunno,” she said, and she shut the door behind Ryan, the last to enter the TARDIS. He was giving you a funny look, and you chose to ignore him. You chose to ignore Graham and Yaz too, for good measure. You would get embarrassed and fluder, you could already feel it.
“Sometimes,” the Doctor said, after a moment, and she looked around the room. “When you can’t find any brightness, you wonderful humans chose to create it instead. Even in the darkest of times.”
“Us humans?” You smiled, and you took a chance, maybe this time, just once, the Doctor could be honest. “What do you do then, Doc?”
“I don’t need to create it,” she said, her gaze wholly focused on you. “I’ve found it.”
You swallowed, your mouth suddenly dry. That… The Doctor couldn’t possibly mean what you thought she meant. But she looked at you so intently, as if you were her entire universe. Her gaze flickered across your face, across the neon yellow flowers Yaz had painted on your cheeks, across your nose, and on your lips.
She leaned in, or maybe it was you, and she as so close now.
The sound of a loud cheer shattered the spell. You jumped back in shock.
“Finally!” Ryan cried, all the way from across the console.
You looked up to see Ryan, Graham, and Yaz standing off to the side, watching you like a collection of hawks. Graham and Yaz turned to Ryan in astonishment. Yaz elbowed Ryan and he doubled over. She tugged on his ear and whispered harshly.
The Doctor grinned when she spoke. “I can hear you, y’know.”
You, however, could not.
“Is it true?” She asked them, and you desperately wished you could have heard.
Graham gave you both a look, one which said ‘sort it out yourselves’.
The Doctor turned back to you. “I think you and I need to have a talk, later, when there’s no one else around?”
She looked vulnerable, her eyes wide and pleading, as if you hadn’t been just about to kiss her.
You nodded, giving her a small, warm smile. “Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.”

Parings Seth x reader
Enjoy🥰
I laid in bed looking at Seth and the more I sat there the cravings getting worse and worse, I lightly shook him “Seth.” He gave me a grunt letting me know he was awake. I smiled at him even though I knew he was irritated about me waking him up, “Seth.” In a hushed whisper, he rolled over and looked at me “what y/n.” He dan and hand through his hair. I couldn’t help but to smile at him I mean even though he had a small case of morning breath and he was grumpy he was still cute.
“Can you get me a Denny’s mint milkshake please?” I cuddled into him and started kissing his chest he groaned dramatically and sat up to look at the clock “Y/N it’s barley 2 am and you want a milkshake?” I looked at him and gave him and innocent smile “well in that case No.” my smile dropped I guess you can say I was spoiled cause Seth never tells me no and vise versa so when he said no I kinda got upset.
“What do you mean no?” I raised up and looked at him he turned back over and pulled the cover up “Exactly what I just said Y/N I’m not going to get you a shake, because it’s not even 3 am and it’s 32 degrees outside.” I looked at him and rolled my eyes “well i bet if Marek called and needed you for somthing at the gym you would get up and rush there.” He just laid there, and the more he did the angrier I was getting. I grabbed my pillow and hit him with it “fine I’ll go get my own damn milkshake.”
He let out a soft laugh and I snapped my head at him “whats so funny.” He raised up and looked at me “you can barley get out of bed with out having to stop for breathes, So I can only imagine what would happen if you tried to drive.” I looked at him “well I guess We are about to find out, also I have our child in me.” He huffed and looked at me “Y/N you’re being sensitive it’s not that serious babe I’ll go just lay in bed.”
I looked at him and rolled my eyes “oh no it’s too late I already got my clothes on so I might as well go I snatched the keys off the dresser and I left the room, I heard Seth cuss and faint movement in the room, I went to the living room and I flung open the front door. I opened the back door of my srurban and got my purse from out the back floor board and then I got into the front seat, I slammed the door shut and I buckled up and quickly turned it on to get the heat going, Seth was standing at the front door I pulled out the drive way and started driving tears stung my eyes while I drove.
I wiped at them and driving at this time wasn’t bad in Iowa, everyone was usually in bed around this time and luckily Denny’s was open 24/7 my mouth started watering at the thought of the mint shake I was about to get going. When I was pulled from my thoughts as my phone ringing through the speakers of the car, I quickly glared down at the smart radio seeing Seth’s name on it I rolled my eyes and hit decline and continued to drive.
I arrived at Denny’s and I pulled up to the Drive Through the lady came on the speakers “hi welcome to Denny’s order when your ready.” I smiled and I opened my mouth to speak but Seth called me again and I groaned and unhooked my Bluetooth and declined the call and threw my phone, I turned back to the speaker and smiled sorry yeah “I’ll have a mint shake and a fry and that’s it.” I waited patiently so she could add the total “Your total is..” the ringing of my phone for the second time makes it impossible for me to hear the total.
I let out a frustrated scream, I took a deep breath and trying to collect my thoughts. I hang up the phone and turn it off before turning back to the monitor. “You’re going to have to repeat yourself.” She quickly responded “your total is $7.76.” I smiled “okay thank you so much.” I put the car in drive and I pulled up to the next window and she opened it up the aroma of different foods filled my nose and I waited for my milkshake and smiled when she came into view with my shake in her hand.
She opened the window and handed me my shake and her eyes dropped to my stomach and she smiled “Oh congratulations do you know what you’re having?” I smiled at her “no I find out at my next doctors appointment.” She smiled at me and a girl interrupted her before she could reply to me “Oh My God your Y/R/N and your dating Seth Rollins aren’t you?” I smiled at her “yep that’s me, and actually we are married.” The lady looked at the girl and smiled at her “I thought it was you I just didn’t want to say Anything, you guys probably get bothered enough when y’all are off.”
I smiled at her “Oh you have no idea, but I have to get home now my husband is probably waiting for me.” She smiled and nodded “of course be safe and congratulations on having a baby and getting married.” I smiled at her and started to roll up my window “you too and thanks have a good night.” I pulled off and was on my way home I grabbed the shake and took a drink of it and let out a dramatic screech of victory I looked see if any cars were coming and I I didn’t see any.
I seen a few people looking at me from across the street like I was crazy, I pulled off very slowly passing them but as I passed them I made a funky face at them and I drove off it took me about 20 minutes to get to the house and the living room light was on, “shit, well hopefully he’s asleep.” I thought to myself as I pulled into the drive way and parked the car. I unbuckled and grabbed my phone and put it in my purse, I grabbed my shake and then the keys, then I shut the door and hit the lock button twice and I walked up to the front door and I twisted the doornob I took a deep breath then walked in.
Seth got up from the couch and walked over to me “Y/N why didn’t you answer your phone.” I took a look at him while drinking my shake I pulled away from it and swallowed what was in my mouth and looked at him, “you kept bugging me so I turned it off.” He took a step closer and wrapped his arms around my waist, “I was worried about you Y/N.” I scoffed and looked at him “I was gone for about an hour and you’re acting like I left you alone all day, like you do me when you go to black and brave.” I seen the frustration grow on his face he sighed and looked at me “Y/N really is this really what all this is about, CrossFit cause if it is grow up, you can’t expect to take care of a baby if you act like one.”
I felt my blood boil and I spat back “Whatever Seth It’s not going to be long before you put CrossFit before our child anyways.” I shrugged nonchalantly and walked away from him he followed hot on my tail “I can’t believe you just said that.” I whipped around to face him “oh believe it buddy and go talk to one of those women you work with about all our problems since that’s all you do.” He grabbed my arm and I seen tears in his eyes and I immediately regretted saying everything.
He let go of my arm and mumbled “I’ll sleep on the couch.” I bit my lip “No Seth you can sleep in our room I’ll sleep in the guest room.” He nodded and hugged me “Goodnight Y/N see you in the morning.” I hugged him back and said good night “Seth I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that’s.” He turned and looked at me and just smiled softly and shut the door. I went in the guest room and shut the door and I could hear Seth sniffle through the walls and I wanted so bad to go in there and just hold him like he did me when I was sad but he was upset with me.
I felt tears start stinging my eyes and I started crying “what the fuck did you do Y/N.” I said to myself and I put my face in my hands, I laid down soon after and covered myself up. I slowly fell asleep. I felt the spot beside me dip, I opened my eyes and looked at the clock and it said 3:30 am I felt Seth’s arm wrap around me and I bit my lip trying not to let him know I was awake, he berushed some hairs out of my face and tuck them behind my ear. he gave me a nice kiss On the cheek.
“Y/N I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” I turned to face him and I smiled sadly I pecked his lips “No Seth I should be sorry, this pregnancy has gotten my hormones out of wack and I’m moody I shouldn’t take it out on you, I know you try the best you can it’s just every time you come home you’re always at black and brave and I know those pretty thinner girls are there and basically eye fucking you, and I get jealous and I didnt want our child to feel second best to cross fit.”
He kissed me to get me to stop talking “Y/N I don’t care how those girls look at me because I know who I’m with and why, who cares your not as skinny anymore, you’re pregnant and you still look good baby, when it comes to CrossFit nothing is more important than you and our little Rollins in there and don’t forget it.” I smiled at him “this is why I married you, and how I ended up like this. He smiled and kissed me “I love you Y/N.” I smiled and kissed his lips ”I love you too sethie.” He smiled and kissed my tummy and “I love you little Architect.” I smiled at the different nicknames and I pulled him up to me and I kissed his lips and I slowly slipped my hands in his panda and he raised an eyebrow at me “Oh I guess it will take all night to make it up to you huh?” I smiled and nodded.
A/N: thanks for reading a lot more fics are coming sorry if this isn’t good it 3:37 am where I love so I’m sorry.

I don’t need to see to love you
Bakukami week day 2 (Part Three): “Injury” @officialbakukamiweek Summary: It was Bakugo’s fault. He had failed to protect the person he cared most about, and he didn’t like that it seemed as if Hatsume was waiting for this to happen. Read on Ao3
Katsuki doesn't remember much from the battle, other than watching his husband fall to the ground in a puddle of his blood and blind rage.
He remembered Kirishima having to pull him away from the villain, he recognized people calling out to him, but his focus was on the blonde laying on the ground and keeping him talking. Denki was crying blood; eyes shut tightly. He'd known, then, that Sensory Overload had gotten him. He remembered Denki mentioning that it was dark.
He remembered watching the paramedics putting Denki on the stretcher, and he remembered crying in the ambulance without judgment from those around him.
"He's going to need surgery, Ground Zero." One of them had said, and Katsuki had looked at him, sneering.
"Why the everloving fuck are you telling me?!"
"Sir, he's sustained injuries to his head. It's not life-threatening, so we don't have the authority to operate without consent from either himself or you."
"What's the surgery for?"
The man had shown him a chart, but Katsuki didn't remember all of the terms or what exactly it had said. He recalled telling them to operate, and he remembered why.
The damage had ruined Denki's eyesight, and if he wanted ever to be able to see again, surgery would be required immediately. Although there was a seventy percent chance this wouldn't work, it was worth the risk.
"Bakugo..." Kirishima said, sitting next to him in the private waiting room. He'd only left once, to get out of his bloodstained hero costume, and Kirishima had been waiting there when he'd gotten back. All their friends were. Honestly, any other time, he might have found it annoying that Midoriya was part of that friend group, but Katsuki needed some familiarity.
"What?" Katsuki asked, voice tight and his throat sore. He stared down at his arms, bandaged up to his biceps, Lichtenberg figures lying beneath. He deserved these marks. He had never taken failure well, but he had failed to protect the person who meant the most to him. Denki was in surgery to make sure he could see, and it was his fault. If he'd been faster, if he hadn't been distracted for that short amount of time, this wouldn't have happened. He'd held Denki in his arms, talking to him until the paramedics arrived about whatever would keep his attention, but Denki's quirk required a lot of control. Whenever he got hurt, his control slipped. Even so, Katsuki hadn't let him go.
He deserved these injuries, he deserved even worse, because he'd failed.
"I just thought of something, bro... If this is for Denki's sight, and it fails-"
"It won't fucking fail. He's going to be alright, dammit!"
"I know, I know. But, man, if it fails. If. Denki won't be able to do hero work anymore." Kirishima's voice was solemn, and he knew it wasn't what Katsuki wanted to hear, but considering the situation, he doubted the thought had crossed his friend's mind.
Katsuki nearly stopped breathing. Hero work was their life; if they weren't working, they were talking about work or talking with people from work or taking care of the wounds caused by it. If Denki couldn't do hero work, he wouldn't know what else to do with his life. It'd destroy him.
"It won't fail. It won't fail." Katsuki whispered to himself, but the people around him didn't seem so sure.
It wasn't a conventional surgery, after all. Denki had been confirmed to be blind, but there was an option for an experimental operation as suggested by one Mei Hatsume. She'd come up with drones, flying drones which would run on Denki's electricity, and the only way to save his sight would be to do two things. Implant a chip into his brain to control the drones, and perform surgery which would put contacts onto him that connected to a visor, which was the whole 'seeing' part of it. It could also help him 'see' regularly, like glasses, and could connect to his pointer and shooter. This was because the drones couldn't stay activated for longer than twelve hours, so he needed to be able to see to live. He wasn't supposed to wear it around the house, needing to learn to function without it.
To Katsuki, it seemed like she'd thought it out far too much to not have been expecting something like this sooner or later.
Two hours passed, and finally, a doctor came out, telling him that the surgery was complete, but Denki was unable to receive visitors yet and to see if it were a success would take time. Katsuki was allowed to see him.
The visor was able to be taken off, Katsuki had insisted on it, and Hatsume had agreed. If this thing blew up, he wouldn't have it attached to his husband's face.
Katsuki sat in the uncomfortable hospital chair, leaning over and taking Denki's hand in his own, the metal jeweled band on his ring finger missing. He'd placed his wedding ring next to Denki's on the nightstand since the doctor was worried the metal would react with the electricity and cause a spark in heart rate.
Katsuki thought the doctors were stupid; they'd specifically had them made of manganese and titanium, two of the worst electrical conductors of all metals.
Katsuki thought back on their wedding day when they'd promised to keep each other safe, to love each other forever. When it came to last names, Denki ended up taking his, since it fits better than 'Katsuki Kaminari.' Their teachers had attended, Aizawa had cried just a little bit. They were the first out of his students to get married, after all. No one had expected them to get together, but they were glad they had.
They had moved into their beautiful house two weeks later, and they'd adopted their cats a month after that. That was three years ago.
Now, looking at Denki in a hospital gown, hooked up to all these machines due to his inability, he felt like a teenager again; Brash, incredibly quick to anger and too overconfident in his abilities.
"Mn... Katsu...?" Denki whispered, and Katsuki looked up at his face. Denki's eyes were open, but the opaque film covering of them worried him.
"Yeah, it's me, babe." Katsuki felt the tears stinging his eyes, but he wouldn't let them fall.
"It's dark, Katsu. Can you turn the light on?" Denki's voice wavered, but Katsuki obliged. He reached over for the visor Hatsume had made, hating the look of the damn thing, and carefully slid it onto Denki's face, hitting the power button on the frame. It was just a band, sleek and elegant, but it was transparent, and he hoped it worked as intended. As soon as it was turned on, Denki's eyes looked normal again, golden and sparkling.
Denki blinked a few times, looking from one side to the other, then at his husband.
"We're not home?"
"No, we're at the damn hospital. Can you see me?" He would never admit to his voice cracking on the last phrase, tears threatening to spill over.
The smile he loved to wake up to, brighter than even the summer sun, came to Denki's face and he said, "Yeap! I can see you. It was dark before. Hey, Katsu, why are you crying? You miss my stupid grin that much?" He chuckled, and Katsuki looked down at their joined hands, shoulders shaking and chest heaving as he started to cry. Denki could see him. He could see him.
"Hey... Love, it's okay. No villain's gonna take me from you; you're the best, yeah?" Denki whispered though he couldn't move all that much yet.
"I. I thought. For a fucking second- I thought I'd. Your sight."
"Is that what this thing is for? My sight?" He shakily moved the hand which wasn't entwined with Katsuki's to the visor and started to take it off. Katsuki wanted to protect him from the truth, but he knew it would be better to let him find out now.
He seemed to understand, setting the visor down on his chest.
"Put it back on, Denki," Katsuki whispered, voice shaking from his crying.
"No. Katsu, kiss me?"
Katsuki obeyed, leaning down and kissing his lips softly with a tilted head. When he pulled back, he saw Denki smiling.
"Why the fuck are you grinning?"
"Because I got a kiss from the best person on the planet, and his nose didn't smudge my funky new glasses!"
Katsuki couldn't help laughing through his tears. Only Denki would find a way to make him want to laugh at a time like this.
"Seriously, you need to put that back on; you've gotta see."
"Don't wanna."
"Why are you a pain about this?!"
"Because I just wanna listen to your voice right now. I don't wanna think about what happened." He pouted, though he was still looking in the direction of Katsuki. "How're our babies?"
Denki had referred to their cats by that stupid nickname since they'd adopted them as kittens, Jig and Nick, named by Denki. Jig was a silly, fluffy Russian Blue Munchkin mix, on the darker side of the color spectrum. She had a bad habit of needing to be in between her humans at all times or otherwise wanting nothing to do with them. Nick, on the other hand, was a gray-yellow Scottish Fold Munchkin, with a penchant for anxiety. Honestly, he might as well be on the edge of screeching if someone wasn't holding him.
Katsuki loved their cats, no matter what kind of mood they were in.
"Well, Jig's pregnant." He watched Denki's eyes widen at the news, more shocked than excited.
"But we had them fixed...?"
"That's what I thought too, but Mina took Jig to the vet while you were out and, well, fuck." He chuckled as his silly husband laid in awe.
"That makes Nick the American, Katsu."
"Enough with your shitty references!"
Denki was allowed to go home two days later, after being introduced to the idea of having drones fly around to help him see.
"It's weird, seeing my body through the drone," He'd complained, though it seemed to help Katsuki's nerves. He wouldn't let him drive home, however, even with the visor on. Naturally, Denki was excited to be back home, happy to spend the recovery days he had left with his kitties, books, and his husband, but something was bothering him.
"What's wrong?" Katsuki asked, seeing Denki biting his lip and looking down at his lap.
"Katsu; what if I never get used to the drones?" They were stored in his locker at their agency, but it was grating on his nerves.
"You will; you got used to the visor already." He shrugged, watching Denki fidget with his hair out of the corner of his eye.
"That's different."
Pulling into their apartment building's parking garage, he drove up to the private level and parked. As soon as the car was off, he looked at the other blonde, leaned over, and kissed him. They'd learned that kissing with the visor on meant it was getting smudged, no matter what they did, but he couldn't give a rat's ass about it.
"You'll get used to it eventually. For now, let's fucking see if you really can walk around our apartment blind."

Something Funky: Trying to Make Sense of Sherlock Series 4
Did BBC Sherlock jump the shark? Why does it feel that a show that has been in production since 2010 with 2-3 years between seasons (which would provide plenty of time for development) has suddenly taken a nose dive when it comes to the story, writing, character, cinematography, in-universe logic, and overall direction? Why are so many of the community left disappointed in how S4 seems to have ended? Were the fans, theorists, and shippers of TJLC just plain wrong in how they saw the story progression despite the overall tone of S1-S3? Did the writers actually pull the rug from TJLC theorists because, in fact, there was no real rug to begin with? Well, to tell you frankly; I'm not sure about anything. I'm just trying to make sense of S4 within the context of S1-S3, because there was definitely, something funky about S4.
There were many in the community who started noticed that there was something funky about S4 that didn't gel with S1-S3. Whether it be from the sometimes odd/ dreamlike camera work and framing, the extreme leaps of in-universe logic the audience was forced to make, and the seemingly out of character motivations and decisions. This "funky" feeling seemed to grow into a full theory in itself when the show made multiple mentions of altered memories; from the client who took heart medication which led to temporary amnesia (T6T), to the T12 drug (TLD), to Sherlock's rewritten memoires of his past (TFP). So, why point so much emphasis on this "funky" feeling? I have a few theories that may explain how I view S4 (especially TFP). Most of these theories are based off other theories (I'm just putting them in my head canon in order to make sense of S4. I think that no matter what you believe the truth is for what may or may not have happened, I think that all of the theories that center around that "funky" feeling can possibly be centered around what I call the "Look at Me" decoder ring.
"Look at Me"
This is centered around the "Look at me" and "Look at him" lines from TLD and TFP. Both of these lines are of the villain pointing out something that SHOULD be OBVIOUS to the protagonist (either John or Sherlock).
In TLD, Culverton yells at John to "Look at" Sherlock after John continually proclaims that he is a doctor, because obvious that Sherlock is high off his nards, yet John seems to not doing ANYTHING to help Sherlock and is following Sherlock blindly and listening to Sherlock accuse Culverton of being a serial killer without any real evidence.
In TFP, Euros continually tells Sherlock to "Look at" her when he asks her how she escaped Sherrinford. This is Euros pointing out to Sherlock the OBVIOUS lack of glass that should have surrounded her cell.
So, maybe this is the creators' way of pointing the obvious "funkiness" of S4. Whether it be through fan theories/ head canons or the odd character choices the creators decided on.
Expanded Mind Palace Theory and John's Mind Bungalow Theory
There have been many posts/ metas about whether or not, S4 may have taken place in a protagonists' head, whether it be the EMP Theory or the JMB Theory (both of which I quiet like). Whether you believe that after Sherlock reads the "Miss Me" note off of Faith's notes and he goes into his Mind Palace (much like what happened in TAB) or after John got shot by Euros and he goes into his Mind Bungalow, both theories can explain quiet a lot...
Both the EMP Theory and the JMB Theory may explain many things including the fact that "Mary" told Sherlock to "Go to Hell" to "Save John Watson", which leads to the Culverton case and in the very next episode we see Sherlock not only going to "Hell"/ Sherrinford, but through it and ends up saving John. Both the EMP Theory and the JMB Theory may also explain how Euros could be seen as a symbol of Sherlock without emotional context and the answer to "The Final Problem" is for Sherlock to give Euros (and himself) emotional context and therefore letting Sherlock become a stronger person. Heck, both theories (mostly the EMP Theory) could explain John's beating of Sherlock in TLD. Mostly through how much it looks so similar to Moriarty's beating of Sherlock on the Reichenbach Falls in TAB, and through how Culverton is seemingly coded to be a dark mirror to John, especially when the show deliberately points out that Sherlock's perspective is off during the confrontation in the morgue when he is hearing Culverton laugh and take the scalpel when no one else did. So can the audience really be expected to just accept the beating scene like it really happened?
So, maybe like what many have theorized, TFP is actually a "nightmare" much like TAB is a dream. Why else is there so many symbols and similarities to movies (especially horror and thriller movies)? Maybe these theories are the key to the reason why Mycroft seems so out of character during TFP. Why else would he seem to suddenly have an issue with violence and seeing someone kill themselves. Why else would both John and Sherlock realize that Mycroft is not as clever as he has been portraying himself as, especially when knowing how he seems so defenseless against the machinations of the villains (especially Moriarty). Maybe these theories are the key to why TFP is an odd dream-like retelling of ASIP (especially with the ending with John and Sherlock standing together with a blanket and asking each other if they are okay and with Lestrade's line of Sherlock being a "good" man). Maybe the dream-like logic that flows through the series (especially TFP) is an attempt of one of the protagonists' fevered imagination of trying to figure out the emotional side of Sherlock. Why else would there be such a heavy emphasis of emotions and emotional context within the series?
Attempting to Explain it Away...
Whatever you believe, maybe these theories can also explain away some of the common complaints (specifically regarding character motivations and character decisions). I know many were beyond annoyed at how the creators seemed to have portrayed both Irene and "Mary", but let's put these portrayals through the EMP/ JMB theory lens and see what we can find.
Irene
I know many within the community thought that Irene's inclusion in S4 seems to only try and dismantle the Johnlock theory by making it seem like Irene "still" had romantic feelings for Sherlock and/ or vice versa. However, we know that Sherlock STILL never responds to ANY of Irene's messages and only occasionally reaches out to her through text (even though he admits that he shouldn't and that it is ONLY texts). Plus when John tells Sherlock to "go after" Irene, he doesn't! He doesn't immediately go "Thanks bro!" and run out the door to Irene, instead he tenderly holds John! As for the mention of Irene in TFP; well, if we assume that TFP is going on in either John's or Sherlock's fevered imagination, we can see this as a similarity to the mention of Irene in TAB.
First, we have the "I Love You" coffin and when John makes the suggestion that it could be for Irene when Mycroft prompts "who love you, Sherlock?" Sherlock's immediate response is "Ridiculous," because it is ridiculous! Irene nor Sherlock actually have romantic feelings for the other, sure they eventually hold each other in high regard, but they don't love each other.
Then we have Sherlock playing "Irene's Theme" when Euros asks him to play "himself" and then asks if he has had sex. First, I would like to point out that Sherlock never actually answers Euros' question of whether or not he has had sex. Secondly, as some have pointed out, "Irene's Theme" was only ever heard completed AFTER she was out of Sherlock's life and could actually be kind of seen as Sherlock's realization of John's feelings for him. This can also be read in TEH when John is first going to Baker Street to visit Mrs. Hudson and he imagines hearing "Irene's Theme" and remembers Sherlock and his' conversation during their first case. We can also hear it in TAB while Mary and John argue, only to have Sherlock immediately stop playing it when he imagines/ hears "Mary" disrespecting/ belittling John's role in Sherlock's life and work as his assistant (plus we all know that Sherlock went into his Mind Palace during TAB while reading John's blog about his and John's first meeting). So, what else is the audience to infer other than that "Irene's Theme" is not actually about Irene, but rather about John and Sherlock's relationship.
"Mary"
Many people within the community didn't like how the creators have seemed to have given "Mary" what many see as an undeserved and unearned redemption arc, but let's put this to the test. I have made mention in my "TFP Experiment Theory" post that I combined the "Mary" = Moran theory and the Moriarty = "Fan" theory to attempt to make sense of "Mary's" death and post-death videos, and I still think it applies here as well. Especially her "fan"-like speak in her "Miss You" video, oddly puts in mind how Moriarty is a symbol for the type of Sherlock Holmes fan that doesn't care about the relationships or the characters, they only like the cases. Especially her talk about how "it doesn't matter" who they are, all that matters is the "legend/ story" and then she possessively calls them HER "Baker Street Boys".
I would also like to point out how seemingly odd her behavior toward Rosie is. We never actually see "Mary" comforting Rosie nor be "soft" towards her (not like Sherlock or John). For example, did anyone notice how much John hold Rosie instead of "Mary"? Even in the promotional photos, most of them feature John holding Rosie instead of "Mary". Even when Rosie starts crying in T6T, we never actually see "Mary" comfort her (unlike how we see John comforting her), and when "Mary" leaves to comfort Rosie, she fairly quickly just hands her off to John. She also immediately hands Rosie to John when they go on the case when they use Toby for tracking. Also, did anybody else think it odd that during the Skype call in T6T, John immediately starts talking about baby items (thinking the conversation is going to be about that), but "Mary" immediately interrupts with questions about the case. Heck, she even talks about Rosie within the context of her being a demon/ devil child (both through similarities through The Exorcist and The Omen), while John just corrects her movie trivia (especially take this into account when he see Sherlock with a client who believes that his wife is possessed by the devil in TLD). Seriously, compare her interactions with Rosie to Sherlock and John's and really ask yourself, why is this like this?
Also, was it just me or was it odd that John had 59 missed calls from "Mary" when she was going into labor? Why have that specific number? Maybe it's a drawing attention to the number of unanswered texts from Irene to Sherlock. As we all know by Christmas in ASiB, Irene sent Sherlock 57 text messages, plus we know she sent 2 more within that same episode ("I'm not dead. Let's have dinner." and "Goodbye Mr. Holmes.") which equal 59; all of which went unanswered by Sherlock, much like all 59 calls from "Mary" went unanswered by John.
To the Johnlock Shippers
I'm not sure where (if anywhere) these connections to that "funky" feeling will go in the future of Sherlock; but one can only hope and pray that whatever may happen, it will hopefully make sense and make Sherlock a better show that we have been eagerly awaiting. Surely, all the hints, symbolism, and story and character progression was there for a Johnlock relationship to occur. We all know that John and Sherlock need a romantic life to complete them, but who else in the world is out there for them but each other? The Johnlock shippers saw and observed, we head and listened; but did the creators?

Post Grad (Not So) Summary
Two years later and Benjy’s still as much of a habitual secret keeper as ever. Some things never change. It’s not like he hasn’t had a reason not to have them though.
In the months leading up to graduation Dumbledore had been getting more and more on his case about taking up a teacher’s assistant position at school. Pays nicely, but there’s a catch. There’s always been a catch with that man ever since Benjy’s known him. He teaches during the day and moonlights Legilimens lessons afterwards. Though they aren’t for helping him learn how to FINALLY control his gift. They’re to stretch it even further because as the war ramped up Dumbledore always had it in his mind to use Benjy in the Order. So you need some thoughts manipulated? Call Benjy. Need someone to case and scout a location without anyone knowing they’re there? Astral projection. Call Benjy. Need someone to get some information out of a prisoner by doing some really fucked up shit? Keep someone in a mental time loop. Call Benjy.
But like everything in his life, it all has to come with a catch.
His gift is like poison. He was always sick, but now that he’s stretching his gift as far as it can go it’s progressed far from headaches to nose bleeds, fainting spells, coughing blood, the whole run of the mill. For all he knows, he’s dying.
Still, he hasn’t told many people and most have found out by accident. It’s the one secret he’s having trouble keeping.
He’s managed to keep what he does at the Order pretty hush, hush though. Only a few people and the higher ups know about his gift and what it can do for them. Otherwise he just looks like any other Order member.
OH AND GUESS WHO SHOWED UP IN HIS LIFE AGAIN.
Ding dong it’s your birth mom calling.
Yeaaah, one of the students in a class he’s TAing just happens to be his younger half sibling (yo if anyone wants to take up that connection with me ring me up) who is. A naive ball of sunshine, and was kind of excited to find out they had a sibling while Benjy. Was not. At all.
Yeah meeting his birth mom when his half sibling wrote to her asking her why she never told him he had a brother and getting her all re-involved in their lives. It did not go well...still kind of stings a bit.
Honestly he’s just flippin tired at this point.
And also lol boy found out his name isn’t actually his name. The name his mother gave him was Bellamy and even though she will only refer to him as that he still goes by Benjy.
Right now he’s living in the city with Dedalus as his flat mate lmao they’re still getting up to crazy shit but mostly it’s just Ded and he has to go pull him out of the trouble he gets into. Cami: “They’re Stucky.”
And he splits his time between his place and Hestia’s because oops making out turned into we’re adults now we should probably put affection on the side and like actually try to be friends?? And then the feelings came back and oops. The tension was just too much.
Also he plays guitar a little now. For stress relief. He used to do it during his summers at school to make a little extra money on the side but since he never actually took real lessons he came up with his own kinda unique/weird way of playing. Lots of finger picking. Check out Jon Gomm it’s kind of like that.
Connections
LILY EVANS- His secret doctor because Lily Evans has a heart of gold and can’t let anyone around go on hurt. She found out about the whole ‘your gift is killing you’ thing like everyone else, accidentally being in the wrong place at the wrong time and there you go. Still trying to find a cure for him.
DEDALUS DIGGLE- Still his best mate who he won’t let anything bad happen to during the war even if it means he gets more hurt in the process because that’s his best buddy for some reason or other (jk he loves the guy) and he needs someone looking out for him. He still keeps things from him though and Ded is so flighty that he can get away with pretending he isn’t sick.
TESS VASILKO- He was sent by Dumbledore to sort of turn her the way of the Order but oops, she found out he’s sick and now she’s got a nasty vendetta against the man at the top and is also trying to turn Benjy the way of the MACUSA because they could use a guy like him and he deserves to work for people better than those who would hurt him just to get the job done.
JAMES POTTER- ALEXANDER HAMILTON. Basically the Hamilton to his Burr just with more bro-ing and less trying to murder each other.
HESTIA JONES- IT STARTED OUT WITH A KISS HOW DID IT END UP LIKE THIS??? Seriously though. They can’t quit each other no matter how hard they try so maybe it’s something real between them? They’re still working things out but they’re going to find out together. Mixed in with a whole lot of sexual tension (and cockblocking thanks Alastor).
SYBILL TRELAWNEY- He’s been considering getting another tattoo to see if that might help relieve the edge of his symptoms, but instead he’s seemed to have caught the eye of the tattoo artist who isn’t quite sure whether to trust him or not. His aura’s all....funky. At least that’s how she’d put it. It’s dark and ominous and in this day and age that can’t mean anything good.
ALASTOR MOODY- From enemies to frenemies to friends. It’s been a long journey since their school days but they’ve patched things up slowly over time. Alastor no longer suspects him of being untrustworthy or that he would betray him now that he knows Benjy knows his secret (but not why because that boy will always keep secrets until the day he dies). Also Hestia magic helped them work through a few more things, so they’re on good terms now. Doesn’t mean that Al isn’t still suspicious of him at times. But at least it’s for different reasons now.
Wanted Connections
My Type
Because he’s good at reading people he can often be put out on the field as a face to get information. But since the Order can often take things too far they’ve asked him to go and seduce this mark and find out what they know.
Character Parallels
Aaron Burr (Hamilton), Melinda May (Agents of SHIELD), Mack (Agents of SHIELD), Bucky Barnes (Captain America)
