ALL THE REP TV EASTER EGGS IN THE NEW AFTERGLOW MV !!
The first image shows a graveyard that we saw in the background when actors Charlie and YN were walking down a path, it’s the same one from the LWYMMD music video. When they were on a date at Olive Garden (which was included in NBNC and this song has a rep feel to it) YN’s phone has new year’s day playing and one of the rings on her hand is a snake ring. The black and white colour scheme of the heart on the building is the same as the reputation colour scheme. The TS written in the sand was first thought to be a Debut (Taylor’s Version) hint but after the overpowering reputation hints perhaps it means reputation (Taylor’s Version). There was a bracelet in the background of YN and Charlie’s kiss in the mv (which took place in YN’s bedroom) where in the background there was a black bracelet among the pink colour scheme that said “REP”. The paper on Charlie’s desk littered with kisses from YN had lyrics to So It Goes… on it.

Hi, Sue! Just wanted to quickly say thank you for your amazing blog! I love it, you're the number one blog here I always wait to update💙 You're an absolute sunshine 🌟
Happy THK day, still can't proceed we finally here!
Hi Mei, oh you are the sweetest 🥰😍
I’m always happy to yap about FK (and JD is fast becoming a fav too!)
And yes, happy THK to all of us!! We made it 😊
What do you think about the first episode? For me, I absolutely love it.
I adore the costumes, the accessories of our boys and the cinematography plus colouring are all on point. Every single thing has a purpose in the show! The aesthetics, vibes and song/soundtrack are also amazing.
Special highlights for me - all four boys nailing their persona:
From Bison being bratty to his older brother (and you can tell he has Fadel wrapped around his pinky heheh) but turning into a baby girl when Kant flirts with him. There is a touch of naivety to Bison while still jaded (I don’t know if you notice, but I was captivated when he seduce the crime lord - you could see his revulsion in the face when he hugged him to his bosom while still smiling sweetly).
To Kant being confident and bold with his sexuality - he knows he is a catch. So swoonworthy, especially when he confronted Fadel in front of the diner - Fadel saying something a long the line of “you’re full of yourself” and Kant saying “Yes I am but your brother doesn’t have any complain” - we stan a confident king heheeh
And how about Style - crazy and ridiculous but so endearing. From him basically just saying upfront to Fadel “yeah sorry, I wasn’t paying much attention cause I was using my phone while driving” to him caressing Kant’s car (I swear he wanted to make love with it 🤣) and even him dancing 🕺 and flexing his muscles 💪
(And that’s another thing with this series so far - usually I don’t like singing/dancing in Thai BL. But the singing/dancing we see so far in THK all have purposes, even the off singing by Bison while he drunkenly lost it or seducing the crime lord)
And my lost, broken Fadel - ah, I just want to hug him so badly. It is such a juxtaposition - with the assassin job, you could tell he is clinical about it - all professional but when he is in the diner, the careful precision as he cuts the tomato 🍅 and prepare the burger, you can tell that’s where his passion lies. But what he wants he can’t have. And urgh, the adoration he has for Bison 💕💕💕💕 - he may not understand his younger brother but you can tell he will die for him.
🤣 sorry for rambling…but urgh, can’t wait for episode 2!
Here, have some wonderful photos of the boys from the recent THK premiere (pretty much KT being a babygirl around his costars 😗)
#this ask has now become a mini thk episode 1 recap for me lol#oppsssss#asked and answered#the heart killers#firstkhaotung#joongdunk

So, going to link a couple of things before I start with this.
Firstly, the new MV for the Vortex/Overthink/Tides medley which is going to form the basis of my observations.
Secondly, this post, which makes a strong argument that Link Click is deliberately drawing from other time travel media. In this case, the 2002 version of The Time Machine. Also, a fun fact not mentioned in the linked post, but that I recently discovered is that the name of the girlfriend the time traveller is constantly trying to save is *Emma*.
Now that I've linked these two, I just want to say that this rest of this post is me having fun and I would love for these to be deliberate references, but let's be real, a lot of time travel media understandably shares a lot of visual language. Hourglasses, butterflies, and clocks are all fairly recurrent themes.
Click the read more for a mix of potential references to other time travel media and screenshots of specific details of the new MV I found interesting:
Left: Link Click (note the photo reel design). Right: Doctor Who (specifically one of the intros for the Twelfth Doctor)
And to add to the photography aesthetic present throughout, the photo reel clock resolves itself into a camera lens:
Next, we have a main character centred within a clock. In both cases, the character casts multiple shadows that resemble clock hands.
Left: Link Click. Right: Steins;Gate
The shot where Qiao Ling is stood still amongst a moving crowd is neat for two reasons. First, the people she's surrounded by seem to be those related to the cases CXS/LG have taken on. You can see Emma just behind in the above screenshot. And the other thing is that the first time this sequence plays the moving characters are too blurry to easily make out. When the sequence reverses however, and the lyrics speak of "pausing" the scene actually freezes with all the characters clear for a tiny bit. (I didn't screenshot purely because it was a pain to get the exact moment but you can check this if you want)
Upper left: Link Click. Upper right: Higurashi Gou/Sotsu. Bottom: Steins;Gate 0.
Next up: fragments! This one is honestly a real stretch, but hey, there are at least two other time travel adjacent shows that use them as visuals in their openings. I would really like the use to be similar to in Higurashi (the example screenshot is from the anime sequel Gou/Sotsu but the sea of fragments is present in the og too). In Higurashi, each time "loop" is actually an alternate timeline (wherein events would differ slightly even without intervention) and so each fragment represents another timeline. For Steins;Gate, it's more a visual that exists purely in the opening sequence to play into the whole shattered clocks aesthetic.
Left: Link Click. Right: Steins;Gate.
This one is inspired by me watching the opening only to go "Okabe Rintaro????" when Qian Jin showed up. But also. We can clearly see some of Qian Jin's scars in this shot. There appears to be one on the back of his neck and two over his left shoulder. These have to be relevant and obviously his eye colour has me side-eyeing but I don't think we have all the pieces for this character yet. (Him being a former cop with a connection to both of our focus cop characters though makes me think)
And a final one with generic anime trope no 58382929:
Left: Link Click. Right: Steins;Gate
I know, I know. This is typical anime/donghua. But! It's deliberately a shot in Steins;Gate that returns again and again throughout the series. It's also very associated with the character of Mayuri so take that as you will.
Bonus whatever this is:
Multiple Cheng Xiaoshis in different states of doing badly. I wonder if the centremost one is the one Lu Guang appeared to be thinking of in episode 1? Possibly another "fragments" situation or if not then it may be various things Cheng Xiaoshi will go through in this season
Anyway, the Steins;Gate opening visually has a lot of similarities and of course a lot of it is natural overlap because they're both time travel series. And they both draw inspiration from The Time Machine (especially Steins;Gate's sequel, Steins;Gate 0). But I find it pretty neat how all these series from different times and places do have these recurring themes.
#link click#link click spoilers#this is mainly just spamming thoughts and references on a specific part of the mv.#I do have thoughts tm about the hourglass bit but mostly it's interesting how everything is all set up for damsel lu guang#and the recurring multiples of different characters. Plus ofc ofc people have already pointed out two hoodies which this mv agrees with#shiguang daili ren spoilers#shiguang daili ren#steins;gate#Not featured in this: madoka rebellion op. it has some clock cog shots but the op is too focused on being misleading to go full on#both madoka rebellion and s;g have the entire 'reaching out your hand for someone and they vanish' thing though which is a classic trope#but it's also a fave okay. and ptutu has chara in clock cog but isn't time travel in the same way for me to count it#edit: also tumblr mobile destroyed my left/right images smh

Hi! 👋
I’ve done a few photo-related things (LOTR terrain inspo and Colour series) as well as book covers and headers. Some of you will have noticed that I’ve talked about and use Unsplash a lot, and that’s because it’s an awesome resource that I firmly believe everybody could use. I’ve used it since 2015, and I will continue to sing its praises.
I will admit however, that it can be tedious to navigate, so I thought I’d provide a little bit of help. I’m not an expert, and I am in no way affiliated to Unsplash, but I do think it’s a great resource for writers and artists, and if I can help at all I’m going to do it.
This is going to be a long one, bare with me!
This post is separated in three categories
My favourite tags to search

Tips and Tricks (that work for every website)
You can search
By theme; This is what I do for headers, book covers and moodboards. I define what the idea is, and then search things that work for that. For ‘The Shadow of Sorrows’ headers, I knew I wanted Cleia, Kalendora and Hamund on there, so I looked for ‘Fantasy Woman’, ‘Armour’ and ‘Warrior’
By location; For the LOTR terrain inspo, I looked up where everything was filmed and scoured through Unsplash for photos of those places and places I’d been I knew felt right.
By colour; This is what I did for the Colour Series, as well as look in the Wallpaper section, since I wanted mostly minimalist pictures.
By method; Say you are looking for some landscape inspo, but have no specific place in mind, you can always start by looking at the 'landscape' tag. It's always a good idea to work wide and refine your search as you go. You can try 'portrait' if you're looking for people inspo.
P.S. you can sort by orientation
If you've made it this far, CONGRATS!! And thank you 💚
I hope this can be useful! If you're struggling with a project, or have a question, please do leave a comment or drop into my ask box, I'll do my best to help
These are my dividers, please do not use them.

Today on thing that I doubt anyone but I care about, I thought I’d share my ‘moodboard’ (in inverted commas because i don’t know what counts as a moodboard and I’m hesitant to call it an aesthetic because it is not aesthetic in the colours) of my Coffee Shop AU?
I love my Coffee Shop AU and it’s honestly one of the things I’m most proud of because it brings me so much comfort and memories and supported me through the pandemic lockdowns after Shield ended. Anyway…
I present….
To Live For The Hope Of It All : a photo collage
All photos do not belong to me bar the ‘Beyond Measure’ and are all taken from Pinterest so credit goes to their owners etc.
The original fic can be found here and the continuation one shots that got out of hand and could probably have it’s own moodboard can be found here. In fact there is other bits and bats in a whole series.
If you’ve ever left a comment or kudos or enjoyed reading this fic, let me thank you sincerely. There will be more from my favourite AU soon.
All my love, M.

b i o g r a p h y . cancer tw, death of a parent tw.
halide kutlar was born and raised in the tough streets of detroit, michigan, the eldest of four children in a turkish immigrant family. with parents who spoke little english, halide learned early on how to navigate between two worlds—acting as a translator, advocate, and caretaker for her family. when her father tragically passed away when she was only eight from a two year battle with cancer, the burden on her shoulders grew heavier. her mother, shattered by grief, spiraled into alcoholism, a series of toxic relationships, and deep depression, leaving halide to pick up the pieces.
forced to grow up faster than most, she became the primary caregiver for her three younger siblings, putting her own childhood on hold to ensure their survival. the weight of responsibility shaped halide into a fiercely independent, tough-as-nails individual, always ready to fight for those she loves, even if it means sacrificing her own needs in the process.
when it came to school, it was always clear that halide was sharp. clever and quick-witted, she had a natural intelligence, but her drive wavered, held back by a deep-seated belief that an education wouldn’t change her fate. with her future feeling uncertain and weighed down by responsibilities at home, halide’s efforts in school were half-hearted at best. at fifteen, she dropped out, deciding to pursue her ged instead. though she failed on her first attempt, her stubborn determination pushed her through, and on her second try, she passed.
around this time, her mother had finally sought help for her struggles, getting sober and stepping up again for halide's younger siblings. relieved of the burden she had carried for so long, halide moved in with her cousin in red creek, michigan, eager for a fresh start. despite the change in scenery, her fiery temper stayed with her. halide was never one to back down from a fight, and if she saw something as unjust, she wouldn’t hesitate to speak her mind—or throw a punch. it didn’t matter whether it was a guy or another girl, halide’s sense of right and wrong was unwavering, and she fought for what she believed in, no matter the consequences.
halide quickly dove into the workforce, but her fiery temperament often got her into trouble. it wasn't uncommon for her to clash with coworkers or customers, leading to her being fired from various jobs, whether it was waitressing, receptionist work, or retail. despite her efforts, it took her a while to find her niche. just when she felt like she had hit rock bottom, she landed a job as a receptionist at the local tattoo shop, devil's ink. it was here that halide discovered a newfound fascination with tattoos and piercings. though her drawing skills left much to be desired, she realized that piercing was a skill she could master.
with determination, she quickly became an apprentice to the shop’s current piercer, soaking up knowledge and experience like a sponge. now, she stands as the main and only piercer at devil's ink, turning her passion into a career and helping others express themselves through body art while simultaneously carving out her own identity in a world that had often tried to define her.
as the town of red creek is gripped by a wave of disappearances and murders, even someone as tough and battle-hardened as halide feels the weight of unease creeping in. normally unfazed by chaos or confrontation, she's found herself watching over her shoulder more often than she'd like to admit. the once-quiet town has become a place of fear and suspicion, and halide—always one to protect those she cares about—can’t help but feel the pull to do the same for her community. though she’s used to fighting her own battles, this is different. the sense of dread in the air has unsettled even her, and while she'd never admit it, the thought of losing someone to the killer’s grasp keeps her awake at night. with each passing day, the weight of the past, combined with the growing danger around her, only sharpens her instincts, making halide more determined than ever to survive and protect those around her.
h e a d c a n o n s .
halide has a serious addiction to tattoos. it doesn't help that she works in a tattoo and piercing shop. while she also has a lot of piercings, she thinks she's way more addicted to tattoos.
has a serious love for physical activity. she currently is taking boxing lessons.
halide drinks black coffee religiously, often relying on it to fuel her late-night gaming sessions or when she’s pulling long shifts at the tattoo shop.
she often changes her hair color and style impulsively, using it as a way to express herself.
halide has a soft spot for animals, particularly dogs. she rescued a doberman puppy two years ago and he is her pride and joy.
she has an eclectic taste in music, from punk rock to hip-hop, and she frequently attends live shows in her spare time. vinyl collecting is a passion of hers, with a special focus on local artists.
despite her temper, halide is fiercely loyal to her friends and will go to great lengths to protect them. she’s the first to defend those she cares about, even if it means getting into trouble.
she has an interest in the supernatural and enjoys watching horror movies and reading about urban legends, often discussing them with friends during late-night hangouts.
she occasionally attends anger management sessions, to better understand her emotions and reactions.

So I've been thinking about THIS:
for like a whole day now, and it's got me like:
So here are my notes and questions and thoughts:
Gonna be long, going to put under a 'keep reading'
THE PEOPLE INVOLVED
Simon Mirren. He created Versailles, and him posting this image suggests that he's working on a project related to Versailles or the Louis XIV period of history.
'He's back'. The word 'back' here absolutely suggests a return of someone we're familiar with.
Alex Vlahos is INVESTED in whatever it is - suggesting 'HE' is Philippe. He liked the post and commented 'Makes you wonder why he ever went away'...
... and then David Wolstenscroft, the OTHER creator of Versailles, replied saying 'And how'.
This is so cryptic. They all know who 'he' is. Alex seems perhaps wistful, maybe about the end of the show and therefore the end of Philippe. 'And how'... I've no freaking idea what this means. How 'Philippe' went away? How he's come back?
How he went away... the show ended.
How he's come back... well I have a theory later.
This screenshot above is taken from Gabriella Petrillo's Twitter account - as you can see, Alex shared the pic to his Instagram story captioned 'Oh, who invited you?'
Which is in QUOTATION MARKS.
Meaning that this is either Philippe asking the audience, or a general character tagline for the project.
OTHER PEOPLE WHO LIKED THE PIC
Anna Brewster (Montespan), Sarah Winter (Louise de la Valliere), Raphael Roger Levy (The Masked Man in S1), and also Nicki Oebel who works with Alex as the second half of his film company Cowhouse Films
TAGGED NAMES
Tagged in this picture are:
ALEX VLAHOS (and his tag is directly on the man's head, which might not mean anything, but suggests it's him)
EVAN WILLIAMS (not him, Chevy is blond)
GEORGE BLAGDEN (the only other real candidate as to who this could be, but compared side by side to the Versailles promo photos, and with the lack of response from George, I doubt it)
STUART BOWMAN (too young to be him)
Also tagged: Versailles Series, MonChevy Love, Versailles fan club.
Bonus: Helen Mirren (Simon Mirren's aunt), Bella Thorne, both actors, and also Louis Vuitton Official and Harris Reed, both fashion houses/designers
THE IMAGE
OK, so lets assume this is meant to be Philippe.
COSTUME/HAIR
The jacket is the wrong style for 1600s Versailles. It's more 1700s, and the real Philippe died in 1701. The costume designers for the original show were METICULOUS in their choices and the way things were worn. Including COLOUR PALATTES. Every character had their own. And Philippe only wore white like this once... at the costume party in S1 E9 when he dressed identically to Louis. Generally, Philippe wore more grey and silver.
If the figure is Philippe, the hair is the right colour, but shorter, and also half up, which is not a style Philippe ever wore in the show. His hair was sleeker with much looser waves, whereas this man has quite thick hair.
LOCATION
I think the Chateau in the photo is Fontainebleau, where some of Versailles was filmed, but I can't find a direct parallel photo from the position 'Philippe' is standing in. However, Fontainebleau has lots of water near it, like in the photo. (And I also feel like I saw Alex visiting there on Instagram within the past few months but I don't know if my brain is playing tricks on me)
IS IT AI?
My sister pointed out the image could be AI generated and honestly? I agree. No hands on show, and the bottom of the sleeves look a bit weird. No location tagged either. Historical costume that isn't quite right for the period we're assuming it to be, or for Philippe's character, which wouldn't be inkeeping with the series' aesthetic.
Could definitely be AI.
REALITY CHECK
Versailles was the most expensive show Canal+ had ever produced. I think it still is. And a new series, or spinoff series, would be just as expensive to produce. This isn't Game of Thrones we're talking about. The show has its hardcore fans, but it wasn't exactly a household name, which studios would throw masses of money at to reboot.
The story of S3 of Versailles also ended in the early-mid 1680s, just as the cast were reaching the point where it seemed ludicrous that they all still looked so young. The cast are now all doing different projects, several have married and had children since. They've moved on with their lives. To think they'd all return to a reboot or spinoff show... is unlikely.
However...
SAINT CLOUD
Alex Vlahos tormented us all with this snippet of a 'Saint Cloud' concept trailer a couple of months ago. Saint Cloud was the name of Philippe's chateau, and his spinoff idea was always a MonChevy comedy show about their lives and debauchery and stuff at their home.
But let's face it, this whole thing feels unlikely, and more just like a bit of a fun idea than something that a studio would actually produce, and he's only just started writing a concept trailer...
BUT.
SPEAKING OF...
ALEX VLAHOS
I'm gonna do a whole section on Alex Vlahos, because there's no way he's not involved. He, in fact, announced something at the convention that gives me my biggest theory about what this is.
Alex is obviously a driving force for the Versailles fandom. He was a key figure at the conventions and at the con in May I went to, and on Instagram shortly after, he announced he is going to do a Versailles podcast next year. It'll be a 30 episode thing, one for each episode of the show, and he said he'll have guest stars to chat to... including other actors and the showrunners, Simon Mirren and David Wolstencroft.
So.
That is a CONFIRMED upcoming Versailles project.
And so this image?
MY THEORY
I'm running with the theory that it's is a promo image for Alex's Versailles podcast, possibly made with AI.
It would make sense.
It's something for the fans, hence the tagged accounts. It'll feature the tagged actors to talk about the show. It's not something that is going to cost a million euros to make, so is more realistic. It's not a long term commitment for actors who have other jobs now.
It shows a man who looks a bit like Philippe - looking back at the chateau, as if reminiscing about his time there... just as Alex is going to do on his podcast.
BUT'S
Of course, this is just my theory. If it is the case, the fact that this podcast had already been announced twice makes the mysterious nature of this pic/conversation weird. And the fact that it was Simon Mirren posting it first, not Alex Vlahos, would be weird too, although maybe it's just because it's going to be quite an 'official' thing, with the support of the showrunners.
But I digress.
Anyway, on a final note, I would VERY VERY VERY willing to be proven wrong, and have a Versailles S4 or a MonChevy spinoff happening, I might actually cry if it does hahahaha
#versailles#monchevy#alex vlahos#alexander vlahos#versailles series#philippe d'orleans#ngl I mostly wrote this out for me#so I could rid myself of the brain worms lmao#but feel free to add your theories/details#join meeeeeeeeeeee

~~ Shards of Eden ~~
This is my little cove, and where I post art and dump other things occasionally. Come inside, have a look~
I haven't lasted 2 weeks on any other site since the fall of g+, except maybe twitter but that also drove me nuts and I always took long hiatuses, but have been here constantly since 2018. Which...says quite a bit. I'm a doctor by profession, but here on Tumblr for fandom (pretty obviously) and art
My fandoms:
Pandora Hearts
The case study of Vanitas
Fate series (mainly Fate/Stay Night)
The House in Fata Morgana
Shadows House
Rozen Maiden
Tegami Bachi / Letter Bee
Witch Hat Atelier
xxxholic
Witch's Heart/Majo no Shinzou
07 ghost
D gray man
Some others I'm into but not that crazy about: Touhou, Madoka Magica, Princess Tutu, Tsubasa Reservoir chronicle, Totsokuni no Shoujo (and more but my head is empty). I like seinen, josei and a very specific brand of shonen: aka things enough to mess up my brain. I don't enjoy romance, sexual things(says the Fate fan..HAH. but seriously,I don't.), or mecha unfortunately
I tend to draw Pandora Hearts, VnC and Fate fanart most
I collect figures,so you'll see them here, but since ,as you can see, most of my faves are a bit on the below the radar side, there hardly are any figures... you'll see custom figures here, and orginal character figures because I like those too.
I like a lot of things, but mostly whimsical, folksy aesthetics, forests and plants, and glowy flowers and things like wisp motifs (there's no limit actually). My favourite colours are,as you might have guessed, the multitude of shades of red, deep maroons and browns. I love fantasy, and folk tales and Celtic things in general have been my passion for a long, long time ,though I also love things inspired by Alice in Wonderland .
As far as music goes...I sang soprano at a choir for a larger part of my teenage, and choral music is very close to my heart. My favourite genres of music are Celtic, especially Irish traditional, new age, classical/neo classical, sea shanties, and whatever Yuki Kajiura and Mili have going on.
Now...art! When not doing fanart,I like drawing fantasy illustrations, and one day I'd like to illustrate books but that's a pipe dream. I'm self taught, and use mostly watercolour and ink. I also love sculpting. It started with trying to sculpt figures and while that's still what I do most,I sculpt other things too,and in general it has to be the favourite of my scores of hobbies . I also do bookbinding...and music box strips ...and doll customs...yeah there's no rhyme or reason to what I do and don't actually.
Sometimes I post photos of plants,I like taking photos and smelling wet mud
If you want to hop into my DMs to talk about fandoms or fanart, feel free! I would be very happy! Also I really love getting tagged and asked ,but often don't get around to responding because I'm a mess of procrastination...if that happens please don't mind, I really really appreciate it and it certainly made me happy, and I'll get to it as soon as I can.
If you've made it this far, thank you. It's been quite a long post, and thank you for reading,I appreciate it. Here are my other blogs:
@sanhatis-abyss absolute reblog hell,if you're looking for something I reblogged 2 days ago my condolences, you probably won't find it unless you scroll for hours. Sometimes I shitpost there , sometimes I scream about the latest thing that consumed me, that is ,if I don't accidentally do it here. Truly,an abyss.
@amaryllis-arachne my doll blog. I realise not everyone likes dolls,or photos of disembered plastic body parts,so I don't reblog those onto the abyss blog. Sometimes I put pictures of my own dolls there, and sometimes er...yes parts.
If you want my other links, they're all in the blog description. Except my Anilist, but it's really not worth anything, since I don't review or rate or anything, just use it to keep track. I do roughly-monthly uploads on YouTube of craft tutorials and drawings, but there's not much rhyme or reason to that either... anyways, hope you have a great day,and hope you find anything you like in this mess of a red coloured pit.
#oh also I'm Indian#I forgot to mention and can't figure out where to put it in the post so tags it is#feel free to ask me anything#pinned post

Romwe x Corpse Bride: A Critical & possibly hypocritical review.
This review will be fast fashion negative, while giving credit to artistic aesthetics. I own some of the items mentioned (some of which, I regret).
A summary of my opinion: most of it is crap.
This is kind of becoming a series, with my previous Hello Kitty and Friends x Forever 21 review
Disclaimer: I do not like Tim Burton. I like a lot of his media (The Corpse Bride, Wednesday, Frankenwinie, etc.) but I do not agree with his attitudes (most notably towards POC inclusion).
If any Shien apologists come my way I will simply block them. This post is not about "is it ok to order from Shien ever?" Or about the accessibility of fashion or anything like that. Maybe I'm a future post, but for now, go read someone else's opinion piece about it
Why did I order this stuff?
The answer is very simple: Nostalgia and scarcity mindset. I've loved the Corpse Bride ever since I was younger. I owned the DVD and watched it more times than I can count. Additionally, I doubt that there will ever be any other affordable clothing collaborations with the Corpse Bride, at least, not for another while. But please send me other Corpse Bride official and unofficial collaborations if you see any. I'll put a little 🌠 next to anything I bought. Note: I may not include everything I bought from the Collab just because I may not have the strongest opinions on that particular garment or my other arguments may better explain.
What did I like?
The general aesthetics. Motifs of the flowers, butterflies, swirls, skeletons, colour pallets. I liked it all! Was it well executed? No. A lot of the patterns weren't done justice (as seen in the review photos)
The stock images were STUNNING. Which is the point, but still credit where it's due.
It appealed to my nostalgia. I think it was lazy, but it certainly did warm my inner baby bat heart.
Onto specifics. This capette
This capette is fun! I love a good capette! There's obvious flaws like how randomly the little pictures are chosen and I feel the white and black is just a little too high contrast, maybe black and light blue would have worked better?
5. This Graphic T. 🌠
I love this design so much I bought one in the black colour way too. Do I stand by that decision? Not entirely. But as a long-term Corpse Bride fan I feel that I will appreciate them for a very very long term.
6. The Legwarmers 🌠
They did these legwarmers so dirty! As seen in the stock images, the ends are rolling up! I need to reinforce them with my own hidden ribbing and also gently steam them. You may also note that those butterflies are PRINTED ON and it's pretty bad IRL.
7. jeans (?)
But if you see a pair of boring jeans in a charity shop that fit well, why not bring them home and customise them with paint, bleach, trims, embroidery or patches? Remind me to write a post on DIY jean ideas. Anyway, could be fun to browse Shien and Pinterest and steal their ideas! Maybe invite some friends and have some snacks and make it 'a little get together'?
I'm stealing the print of these jeans. A reoccurring hot take of mine is that I hate that EVERYWHERE sells jeans. Go into any high street retailer and they have a WHOLE SELECTION of jeans. From skinny to bootcut to mom to boyfriend to ripped and in black, acid wash, proper denim, super light blue and sometimes white. it's all far too much (in my opinion).
The reason why I feature the "?" in the title is because I don't really see jeans as very Corpse Bride, seems more fairy grunge (I've discussed fairy grunge lightly in the past but I do hope to make a longer opinion post about it)
General dislikes
106 listings. Why SO many graphic t-shirts? I need to count the specifics because there's just too many. And I counted roughly 24 hoodies/sweatshirts (given, there could be duplicates of the plus size and straight sizes) but my point remains. Why is there 106 listings?
Excessive reuse of certain designs and many of the designs are really similar.
No collection of that many pieces could ever be of decent quality or with a lot of thought and the proof is in the pudding (the garments). It simply isn't. Typical Shien. Bare basics stitching, low quality materials, etc.
Polyester for undergarments. Cotton, bamboo and hemp are just far superior fabrics for underwear and socks! I can't imagine polyester is good for the health of external private areas.
Objectively these are cute, but I have recently truly understood how dangerous synthetic materials can be especially for private areas.
I will be referencing this print in my future customised clothing.
Future post idea: Cotton vs. Polyester
At some point in the future, I do intend on posting more information about cotton/natural fibers vs. polyester. Including resources that further discuss the oppression of the Uyghur Muslims, modern cotton slavery, the mistreatment of garment workers. Then also, the production and manufacturing process on various fibers and their quality. Additionally, a bit about micro plastics and our clothes.
Most of it will just be directly referencing and providing information from creators who are more knowledgeable on the topic with minimal opinions and input from me, though there will be a sequel post that includes my opinions and a reflection on how I navigate the topic.
If anyone has any links and resources on that topic let me know!
Thanks for reading!

Blog Post 4 - Artist Models
Artist models I am using for inspiration are:
Nadav Kander
Is mainly a landscape and portrait photographer, I am using his series 'The long River' for inspiration and ideas towards my own work. I love the way that he has captured the bridge through wide angles and the use of composition and rule of thirds.
I also like how Nadav captures the bridge in an aesthetic way, the colour's are dull, yet simplistic but make a statement.
This photo shows reflections of the water surrounding the bridge which is one of the features of my project I would like to focus on.
Dave Frieder
Is another artist model that I would like to use with my work. His work of George Washington Bridge really influenced me when taking test shots of Victoria Bridge.
His work 'Steelwork Below Grillages and Saddles' taken in 2002 (below) inspired me when taking a photo of Victoria Bridge. Focusing on the infrastructure and Architecture of the bridge.
Victoria Bridge, 2024 - by Olivia Karl (below)
Jem Southam
An artist model who focuses on bodies of water, I like the simplistic yet effective composition, capturing some photos in different weather conditions like the fog, sunset, sunrise etc.
Stuart Franklin
Using landscape as metaphor, based on Stuart Franklin's book 'Narcisus' (2013) "We look constantly for things in the world which trigger emotional responses, be that in the form of reminiscence or revulsion." (Stuart Franklin).
I like the idea of using metaphors while doing landscape photography, through telling a story of emotions, childhood memories etc.
I also like the effect the images have being in black and white which is something I may look at incorporating into my own work.
I watched some photoshop tutorials and this one was one of my favorites as it was easy to understand and follow. It is also useful for my project for when any unwanted objects come up in my photographs.

My favourite manga series is one you have never heard of*
((* probably, if you speak only English))
IT HAS EVERYTHING: DRAMA, BLOODSHED, FOUND FAMILY, LOST FAMILY (🥲), RANDOM INVINCIBLE BEINGS, CONFUSION, PAIN, FUN...
[Collage I quickly put together of all the manga covers, rip they've got such bad quality but I just quickly got them from a website, all the other images here will be my own photos]
So. There is this manga series that has been my absolute #1 favourite since around 2014, I think. I found out about it from a random Youtuber I used to watch, who made those monthly review/recommendation videos for manga he read.
Thinking it did sound very interesting, I just went and bought the first volume and was HOOKED. The manga in question is Vanilla Fiction by Megumi Osuga.
The premise is simple (or uh, as simple as I could water it down): Guy named Sato, who is a best-selling author, is also a huge pessimist and can only write bad endings. Now, he's pressured to write a happy ending. Right at the beginning of the first manga, he stumbled across a murder scene and then somehow ends up adopting a little girl that was there. Or uh, rather she forcefully adopts herself lmao 😭 And then he gets the task of saving the world (aka happy end for humanity?? Real??)
(Also her little angle wings backpack 🥹🥹🥹 It's so cute 🥹 And later on in the story, Sato has a jacket on with angel wings 😭)
As if Sato isn't confused enough, all of a sudden there's this weird guy (who names himsels Ozamu Dazai. Yeah, I know... Another manga character with that name HOW ORIGINAL, but I think this came out just some months before Bungou Stray Dogs so it's a funny coincidence that both of those happened along a similar time 😭) who gives him a lore drop and explains HOW he has to save the world and all that, also it turns out the guy is kinda invincible and is some sort of weird human ragdoll zombie (or something like that). Sato first finds out about that because he accidentally killed him (in his defence: Dazai is ANNOYING AS HELL‼️)...
As for saving the world, Sato has to eat cookies with the little girl or else the world will end (because of chaos theory mome nte). Thing is, other people also want to do that. So some sort of weird battle royale-esque shenanigans ensue. Yippee‼️‼️
And I gotta say this manga has some of my favourite aesthetics, I absolutely ADORE the artstyle and also the characters are so great and (MOST of them...) lovable!!
Love the introduction scene in the second volume of my fav too he's very silly 😭
He's like, "I became a police officer because I love fighting (as in arguments, but he does love beating up others too lmao) people! Doesn't matter with who, about what, I am never going to lose!!"
Just a hater fr.
Also, I absolutely love this page sm, on the right is one of my other favs and btw HE IS SO GENDER!!! He's kinda like if Do Hanse was a manga character... Do you see the vision??? He's also the leader of the "Kanto Devils", which is a surprisingly wholesome gang :) They're like a family...
Also two pages I love nowadays even more:
WHY ARE YOU JUST WATCHING???
I can't believe Vanilla Fiction predicted Yakuza Kiwami ⁉️
Also gahhh, in every volume there are two fully coloured illustrations on the first pages and I love them so so much. Due to tumblr image limit I tried to squish some of them together:
And. ...Sigh, there's a running banana peel slip gag but I SWEAR IT'S FUNNY.
And oh my god even years later I still think about the ending. 😭🛌🛌🛌
When the manga was still coming out with new volumes, I'd always read them immediately and then lend them to my friend who I got into the series, so we could both talk about it and it was just always so nice experiencing the hype of a new volume together 😭
And then, in 2016, when the final volume was released... We were both devastated 😭😭😭 Tbf, there was a volume before that which hit just as hard goobey...
Some years later though, I realized... No one ever really talks about this manga. And when I go search for it, all people talking about it are in German. Then I slowly realized HOLY HELL THIS MANGA DIDN'T EVEN GET AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION, NOT EVEN A FAN TRANSLATION ⁉️⁉️
NO WONDER IT DOESN'T HAVE A FANDOM 😭😭
The name Vanilla Fiction tbh is also not making it much better, and the covers are such a huge don't judge a book by its cover moment, because you'd think it was a cute little shoujo manga 💀 But then you open it and there's just a bunch of gore happening right at the start so. Yeah.
Man... I love talking about Vanilla Fiction a lot, but I know they'll never even get to experience it now, so that's kinda sad. It has been my favourite manga series for a decade now and I can't even talk with people about it 🥲
I'm lowkey tempted to just scan in the pages and do my own translation of it just so I can show it to people lmao 😭

I've finally seen it: Blacula
This week, as part of my course Sunken Place: Racism, Survival, and Black Horror Aesthetic, I've been assigned William Crain's Blacula (1972). It is therefore the new subject of my I've finally seen it series.
Blacula, as the name suggests, is a film about a black vampire. I hadn't seen any vampire films before, with the exception of Twilight, and I found a few similarities (was Twilight inspired by Blacula?): the vampire is in love with a human, they love each other and he has to transform her to save her life. There's that romantic Romeo and Juliet notion of impossible love. Nevertheless, there are some notable differences with my favourite vampire film, such as the fact that vampires don't have superhuman speed and strength. In addition, the film is full of vampire clichés: Blacula has a cape, you can't see him in the photos (he'll be disrupted by a flash that reminds me of the famous scene in Get Out), he transforms into a bat, he's bulletproof, and he's destroyed by light and fire. However, the film plays on these clichés, particularly when Blacula orders a Bloody Mary. Also, perhaps it's my lack of knowledge on the subject, but I was surprised to see that Blacula's vampires are repelled by Catholic crosses, which made me think more of exorcisms.
Refocusing on the main subject of my course, I can say that I found the casting very progressive for 1972. There is a very large majority of black actors of various colours, who also play all the main characters. So we see black love, which is quite rare. If Tina had been white, we would have had the cliché trope of the monstrous black man chasing after the white woman. So I'd say that the film is engaging because of its cast, its name Blacula, but above all because of the way its characters are depicted. Black people are portrayed in different fields, from waiters to doctors and in different situations like work but also having fun at the bar. They are happy, intelligent and even in a position of superiority: Mamuwalde is a black prince and Dr Gordon Thomas orders a white colleague to fetch coffee. The latter gives orders, takes charge of the league and is the hero. The black characters are also well represented physically, with beautiful afros, beautiful clothes, sometimes traditional like those of Luva. I must admit, however, that I found the sexualisation of a dancer in the bar scene disturbing, too long and too close, reminding me of the objectification of black women.
To finish on a more positive note, I thought the horror of the film worked very well. I really liked the scene where a hand suddenly appears on the funeral director's shoulder, leading us to believe that it's Blacula who's been hiding but who turns out to be Dr Gordon. The image of Blacula dying with his skin decomposing with maggots also terrified me. Finally, what is also frightening are the more realistic aspects, such as racism, when a policeman shoots Tina for no reason, or comments like "There aren't many white people here" or "How can you tell, they all look the same" made by white policemen. The latter are Blacula's main victims, which creates an aspect of retribution. The scene where Tina tries to escape from Blacula also strongly reminded me of the insecurity of women at night and the danger they face when alone. However, she didn't let that stop her, running faster than Blacula on her heels, arming herself with a knife once she got home, showing a true black survival instinct.
