I definitely like their more upbeat songs!
Omg I am also a huge swiftie 🫡 even the acronyms for her songs throw me off sometimes LOL -🌻
honestly, with my mood swings, I can never decide if I'm in a "me" sort of mood or a "UGH!" kinda mood. but generally, my favs are the more upbeat ones too!!! the lyrics are still depressing as fuck, but at least there's a funky lil' beat to distract me lol
omg, sunflower anon lore!!! some acronyms throw me off, but I have such an encyclopedic Taylor knowledge that I'll get there in the end lmao
#iliwys is the best for dancey tunes that make you wanna die#aka my fav genre#love me some sad lyrics and a funky beat#🌻 anon#anon!#chatty asks!

gonna ask 'cause this is such a specific combination of things- if you could pick one sleep token song to rec to each bts member, what would you choose (and why, if you're up for it)?
Oh my goodness, this may the best question I have ever received ever in my whole life. THANK YOU SO MUCH WOW, YOUR BRAIN AMAZES ME 💙 Sleep Token ARMYS, what a powerful combo 💜
It really is such a niche combination!! I took this SO SERIOUSLY too 💀 Let me know what you think!! Also, who's your bias? Mine's Hoseok 🥹🌈💚🌞
(Under the cut because long!)
Okay, so I chose these based off what they are usually into, and their vibes (does that make sense?). Some of them were very difficult to nail down (Hoseok and Jimin especially), but I think this is fine.
Namjoon - Take Aim / Vore / High Water
Okay, this eas actually the last one I did, but I'm putting them in oficial order. These three songs are WILDLY different, yes, and don't look very "Namjoon", sure, but! Hear me out!
Lyrically-wise, I believe Namjoon would absolutely LOVE these. The man is a poet, cmon now. These have some gorgeous lyricism and symbolism that I think he'd really appreciate. Sound-wise they are also very unique, but somehow feel like him?
Out of the 7, Joon is the one that has put out the most solo music (including collabs) and the most varied too (in comparison with Yoongi for example, who has also put out A LOT of music, but has a very distinct sound - especially under the Agust D name), so the variety in sound feels right.
Honourable mention to Give because YEAH, it feels like something straight out of Mono.
Jin - Euclid / TNDNBTG
Do you see the vision? I'm thinking about Epiphany and lowkey it fits? The piano, the kinda-hopeful-kinda-melancholic themes? There's something very angelic about it that just fits him so so well.
I actually almost went with Telomeres for him too so there's that.
Yoongi - Bloodsport / Ascensionism / Atlantic
If there's anyone who would be into Sleep Token is Yoongi. Him and Vessel are basically the same person in different fonts. But these three are the most "Yoongi-coded" to me. Gorgeous piano? Check. Interesting song changes/rap? Double check. Heartbreaking sad wet cat lyrics? Triple check. Ascensionism especially is very Agust D, don't you think?
Honourable mention to the Hey-Ya cover and Drag Me Under because those are so so Yoongi to me.
Hoseok - Granite / DYWTYLM
No because I KNOW my man would be shaking his non-existent ass to Granite (Dark Signs too actually). If there's a nice beat, he's all over it. And DYWTYLM - not only is it funky musically-speaking (which is a j-hope staple), I quite like the interpretation of Vessel singing this to himself (in a mirror).
That duality of "Smile back at me // My reflection won't smile back at me like i know it should" SCREAMS Hoseok to me (especially after Jack In The Box came out). We're so used to referring to him as the sunshine boy, and seeing him all smiles and brighter than the sun itself, when in reality there's a lot more in there. We've finally began to see more of him, and I think that inner monologue is just perfect for him.
(can you tell I'm biased? Lmaooo)
Jimin - Sugar / The Summoning
Tell me Sugar isn't such a Jimin song. Think about Lie and Filter and Muse and TELL ME Sugar isn't made for Jimin. I dare you. The Summoning too, it's a bit out of pocket but it feels right somehow? Yeah.
Taehyung - When The Bough Breaks / Aqua Regia
Here's the thing. We know Tae likes jazz, and music that is soulful, smooth, nostalgic. And both of these seem right up his alley. I believe he'd really like the Aqua Regia piano.
Jungkook - Missing Limbs / Like That
He's always been the hopeless romantic boy 🥹 All the ballads he has covered?? Yeah, I think Missing Limbs would be a nice song for him. Alternatively, Fields of Elation would be good too? Idk, something about baby Vessel's voice back then that reminds me of JK. The falsettos probably.
(I just remembered and actually - Like That is fire and it feels like something he'd like).
#I hope this makes sense to you?? it was very difficult to nail some of them down#realistically speaking I don't see anyone aside from maybe yoongles and joon getting into them BUT!#i know hoseok has some rock vibes in More and jk had his emo phase BUT. ya know.#can you imagine any of them listening to gods? or the offering? or tmbte?? that's HILARIOUS to me#sleep token#bts#<- tags that shouldn't be together but are#darya answers

My The Tortured Poets Department Initial Impressions
Fortnight: oh baby :(, quiet treason, okay!, oof, okay post harmony!, nice little beat, as you should!
The Tortured Poets Department: Very 80s-ish, that end of the chorus reminds me of Silver Springs a bit, me too honestly, 👀, ooh that tone is so pretty, urgh oof, bringing back the writing style of the early days
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys: ooh her voice that lower range!, ooh that’s fun, don’t make me mad, puzzle motif!!!!, really like this metaphor of her as a doll especially given how she’s compared fame to being a doll, why must men have commitment issues go get some help boys!, ken!, like the build and spiral
Down Bad: why does that first bit remind me of tinker bell?, :( oh baby :(, same old town motif!!, ooh that effect is cool, she’s catchy, ooh New Romantics parallel!!, we’re gonna burst, okay not as a big of a burst as I expected
So Long, London: oooh very pretty, very haunting reminds me of church bells and my tears ricochet, okay switch up!!!, oof, I like the driving beat, oof, not the cpr, she sounds so angry and hurt, ship again!, I like this build up out of the bridge, not the color motif…, this is so sad, that end is very hypnotizing
But Daddy I Love Him: ooh this is interesting, cages!!, feels old timey, ooh alliteration, precocious!, like the storytelling aspect, not the burning…, oooh oh alliteration!, little twang, nice switch up! classic swift, ooh nice in my right ear, okay papa don’t preach!
Fresh Out The Slammer: yee haw??? Let’s go!!, okay this is interesting, not the colors again, okay vocals, very melancholy end
Florida!!!: fun driving beat, ooh that vocal, ooh that’s fun, oh we’re letting Florence sing yay!, yeah that’s fun, I like this back and forth, I like the production reflecting the hit of the drug
Guilty As Sin?: Not the cage again, wolves!, oooh I like that little vocal bit, vault!, okay breathless tease!, *bonk* go to horny jail, okay ma’am 👀, I like that isolation, maze makes me think of Alice in Wonderland, why would you do that to me
Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?: ooh, fun vocals, oh this fun and dramatic, production kinda reminds me of “Blown Away” by Carrie Underwood, good name again, not the tame reference, this is like an even more unhinged “mad woman”
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can): very hypnotic, reminds me of “White Rabbit,” this is got a fun feel to it, very sultry, like the twist
loml: Piano!!!, ooh fire motif, stitch and youth again, she sings that so softly, not the quick love schemes and the why she disappeared of it all, ooof that’s a doozy of lyrics, not the counterfeit lyric, wizard of oz reference!, the fire is back again, there’s that switch, okay that one hurt
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart: okay mirrorball!!, like that it sounds like she’s getting ready to go on stage, me too honestly, ouch, evidence reminds me of hits different, I like the camera clicks in the production, :/
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived: not the sigh…, oof, get his ass, okay I like the build up as a reflection of her anger, that reminds me of betty
The Alchemy: funky beat, interesting child/youth theme, like the sports references, come on now, that was sweet
Clara Bow: ooh the roses are back!, ooh like the way she sings dazzling, Stevie!!, again the town reference, very the lucky one, so intrigued by the queen popping up throughout the album, beauty and the beast!!!, not the self name drop!!!

Rise and Fall Of A Midwest Princess - First Listen
Before I Listen... I know next to nothing of Chappell's music. All I know is she's a queer person from America, and I'm pretty sure she's from a red state? And she likes to make big! statements about queer people in red states (go her honestly). And also that some of her lyrics are questionable. So! I am in my bedroom with my headphones, a clear floor ready for dancing, and this tumblr post pre-formatted for my thoughts on each song. Cannot wait!!!!! Getting started now.

The Album.
overall, the album had a lot lot lot of huge positives and a few little things i wasnt a fan of. it's a really strong pop album, it has everything you could expect in an album. its got diverse emotions and vibes and its got pop anthems and its got stuff to dance to and stuff to cry to and stuff you can do both to and it all flows seamlessly. there were two, three tracks i didnt fall in love with, but there were far more that i did. i absolutely applaud chappell because this album beautifully captures her struggles nad successes, a lot of which are somewhat universal for queer people. i really loved her use of crowd vocals and backing harmonies, i thought that was really beautiful, and i love how there was electronic production on acoustic instrumentation, i thought that was quite impressive and really fit this modern theme of like, the return of 80s production. i'm going to have another listen to some songs and them im going to listen to gracie abrams tsou album (which i still havent heard) so!!! if you want to see my thoughts on that, i'll post that in a few hours. also just posted my hmhas first reactions<3

the loveliest time reaction
anything to be with you: it sure is…something. a Way to open the album. i think it’ll have to grow on me the way shy boy had to grow on me tbh. sort of falls into the dedicated trap of very repetitive choruses. love the bridge.
kamikaze: she hasn’t even said a word and i already love it. this is the album’s talking to yourself omg it’s SO good already. wasn’t expecting that chorus from the verse build up but i don’t hate it tbh. i love the funky synth bass beneath everything. lyrical content on point too. already hearted and i am so prepared to add it to ascension tier once i listen to it more.
after last night: this is an interesting synth at the beginning. i like it but i need to hear how the chorus opens up. feels a little like there’s a lot of build up for no release. like a blocked dam music wise, with the driving beat but no relief/resolution with the chorus. i kinda dislike it but maybe it’ll grow on me ://
aeroplanes: i like this, kind of reminds me of the middle section of the loneliest time (far away, sideways, etc.) the funeral line caught me off guard. i think once this one is heard in the headphones, i’ll appreciate it more. it’s really a pretty track though. love the semi-spoken word out to/bridge
shy boy: had to grow on me a lot but now i bop to it so much, like it’s so fun!!! i love the synth behind everything and the lyrics paint such a picture.
kollage: beautiful. just how it flows over you like a river. sounds like lo-fi study music but like in a good way. you can tell it’s personal lyrically and just listening to it makes you feel calm. it almost makes me want to cry just because of how like safe and warm fuzzies it makes me feel but also horrible sadness at the same time
shadow: was not expecting that lmao. i like it in theory but man the whiplash from the last song to this one is crazy. def her most sonically ambitious and experimental lp so far. oh the chorus kind of goes off but i need it to OPEN UP more musically.
psychedelic switch: why is it giving like grown up version of this kiss sonically !!!!! i really like it but wow that driving beat is so reminiscent of the kiss album. the lyrics are going off though and if i could listen and analyze them better i would lmao. feel like i could shake ass to this eventually, when i listen to it better. bridge eats. outro is giving bad remix from the early 2010s though
so right: OH I WAS SO RIGHT FOR CLAIMING THIS ONE!!! already one of my faves on the album. the production is so pretty on this one and it makes me want to dance. it’s just kind of classic carly rae jepsen pop. going to love it even more after multiple listens i think.
come over: the loneliest time (song) + beach house combination. another example of just classic carly rae jepsen pop: danceable with good lyrics and enthusiasm. another favourite of mine on the album so far, love the post-chorus guitar lick. just brilliant and so is this song!!!! might be my fave.
put it to rest: so alt rock and alternative. honestly giving me some johnny orlando vibes. til i met you specifically. seems like an interlude of sorts. will grow on me but i like how stripped down it is and just focuses very simply. love the use of the driving best but it is a tad overused in this song
stadium love: it’s sounds like fight song by rachel platten interpolated. i love the message though and one i’m revisiting. this will go so hard life with the chorus and what not. it makes me smile how amazing it is tbh, what a great closing track. it’s so fun and makes me so happy.
weekend love - bonus track: and what an end!!!! so fun and funky, dancy. giving talk fast by 5SOS ahhhhh but i lowkey love that. definitely a grower! i can see myself defending this one day. pretty sounding too.
love the new album, can’t wait to dig into it more!

Favourite songs from your top artist?
AWESOME question. my top artist is king krule so i'll give u a long list
1. cementality - for obvious reasons. i've named myself after this song on liek every platform. and this song is so fucking sad. like it's talking about suicide and having worms in your brain basically and it's so somber and i love it i eat it up.
2. the locomotive - i don't have a super. real reason for this being #2 it's just my absolute fav off of the ooz. i interpret it as being scared of change and like taking that step onto the metaphorical train of life
3. emergency blimp - another one from the oooozzzz but i liek this one because the lyrics, again, are relatable. it's about his like. idk mistrust of pills to treat mental issues and how like idk the pills make him feel not great. also there's definitely something about love in here but im not a great critical analyzer so.
4. energy fleets - MAN ALIVE!!!!! this i think is an underrated king krule song. it's so good. i think it's about coming to terms with the fact that maybe youre not who you thought you'd be! but thats ok! youre you! and all your illnesses are you and while that sucks its okay. youre alive.
5. seaforth - okay yesss a little bit cliche to like his first single after a few years of NOTHING but it's WHATEVER i don't care it's so good. i see you, my same eyes. it's so fucking good it's like a lullaby when i have a baby im probably gonna sing it to her
6. out getting ribs - clichè, clichè, clichè (beyoncé reference) who cares it's such a good freaking song. it's timeless and it's awesome and seeing it live was probably one of the best moments of my 2023 i think everyone should listen to that song once even if they never listen to king krule ever after that.
7. turtle neck man - technically not a king krule song but he's the vocals so who cares. i just like this one cuz it scratches a itch in my brain.
8. arise dear brother - this is a song off his mixtape under his real name and it's like so good. idk some people don't like a new place to drown but i think it's SO funky! arise dear brother has this like vibe to it that i fuck with really hard. and i like the lyrics and the beat and whatever makes that clicking noise in the song it's awesome
9. 363N63 - this song is just like sex in my ears sorry i don't really have a reason it's just good
10. seagirl - i LOVE this song because i think king krule needs to do MORE COLLABS WIRH ARTISTS I LIKE. ITS AWESOME. also because this song makes me envision like a fisherman falling in love with a mermaid and he keeps drawing her to prove to people like look she's real and no one believes him but she's like im ur seagirl. whatever thats a very literal interpretation of the song but it's okay
i hope u liked this it was only supposed to be 5 songs but im crazy bout my ginger so

Updated favorite commissions as of Hoshi wo Tsunagu + general commission opinions
Ichika - Made to Order. Overall her commissions are fine, though I prefer the VS versions of both Pulse of the Meteor and Hoshi wo Tsunagu (the tuning man... the tuning). Still not the biggest fan of her
Saki - Teratera/Show Off. Commissions overall are great. Stella is a close second place for me; I prefer the VS version of From Tokyo; and Aioi made me cry, it's beautiful
Honami - Still very close between Stage of Sekai and Flyway. Not a huge fan of Hare wo Matsu, probably because I'm just not big on Orangestar. Then again I'm not super huge on halyosy and then we got Flyway and it blew me away so. Edge still goes to Stage of Sekai though
Shiho - Voices. Yuyoyuppe is one of my favorite producers. However, Shiho literally does not have a bad song. You could put any of hers in the top spot and it would be correct
Minori - Tenshi no Clover. Worldwide Wander is right behind it. Dream Place and Teammate are both fine, but the latter especially really isn't my thing. I'm not a huge HoneyWorks fan. My opinion on Dream Place may go up when the full version is released
Haruka - If. Ai no Material is dragged down by MEIKO, and Float Planner is fine. Don't have much to say about her, but I do hope her next song is better. Her commissions tend to be more just good rather than great imo
Airi - Momoiro Key. Icedrop and More! Jump! More! are also very good. Still don't like Parasol Cider. Something about it just annoys me and I don't know what. It's just not for me
Shizuku - It's between Metamo Re:born and I Am, We Are. Color of Drops is fine, and Luka's tuning is surprisingly good in it
Kohane - Hitsuji ga Ippiki. Very funky, very Kohane. Beat Eater is also fantastic, and I think I'm in the minority of people who actually genuinely like Flyer. It makes me happy
An - Gekokujo/Giant Killing (yes that is the official translated title at least according to Apple Music). So... this song and event leaked around the time of my grandmother's funeral. I'm still grieving the loss, but this song has helped so much. Awake Now and Machi are both fantastic, and Forward is fine, though I want more of the guys
Akito - Kashika. Can't wait for the full version in three weeks (as of posting this). Akito is like Shiho, though; you could put any of his commissions as the top one and they'd be right. Let's hope that continues
Toya - Rad Dogs. Still hasn't been topped. Mirai is good though, and I recognize why people like Utsuro wo Aogu, even though I still don't like it that much. Hoping this Hiiragi Magnetite commission is his and it's good
Tsukasa - Mr. Showtime. I do not like Tsukasa--or WxS, really--that much. It's the character voices that get me most of the time. However, HitoYama made a banger. I can't stand Tondemo Wonders because of the sound effects, and I prefer the VS version of Eighty-Eight
Emu - Hoshizora Orchestra. Yeah I'm revising my opinion there. I cried when I listened to it with the lyrics. Made me feel warm. Once Upon a Dream is criminally underrated, and Niccori Survey Team's Theme is rightfully loved
Nene - Hakoniwa no Coral. Hot take, this is her first good commission. I do not like OSTER Project or kinoshita much, so that really knocks down Nijiiro Stories and Glory Steady Go for me. I wanted to like Hoshizora no Melody so badly because I like Polypho, but I can't stand them speaking in rhythm rather than singing, and I think MEIKO's tuning is some of the worst in the game here
Rui - What Kind of Ending Do You Want? I honestly flip between his songs though. He's like Shiho and Akito; any of them ranked as the best is the right answer
Kanade - Samsa. Don't get me wrong, I love both Kanade Tomosu Sora and Tricologe. But... KAITO. And Teniwoha. But yeah you also can't go wrong with Kanade
Mafuyu - Engeki. This song. I cried. Enough said. Jackpot Sad Girl is one of the best early game songs, Saisei is criminally underrated, and while bug is overrated and overplayed, it earned that. You can't go wrong with any of her songs in my book, though I'm aware I'm in the minority there. Still don't get the hate for Saisei though
Ena - Nomad. Just... beautiful. But her other songs are also great and again you can't go wrong. Do you see a pattern here?
Mizuki - Kitty. So funky. I think you know what I'm going to say here based on the last three though. Also don't get the hate for kimi no yoru wo kure. Like, at all
Can you tell I love Niigo?

ALBUM REVIEW TIME 👹
This is gonna be a long one so be prepared!!
Today we will be reviewing Stray Kids’ new compilation album SKZ-REPLAY. comprised of songs previously released on youtube. They decided to bring them to streaming platforms, along with new solo songs for each member.
I wasn’t going to do this review because its a big album. But i’m bored and sad and SKZ make me feel better so here we go!!
FAM (Korean ver.) - 5/10 - I’ve listened to the japanese version a few times before. It’s cute. A little song to introduce all the Skz members!! Funky little beat. Not something i would listen to often tho. But a great way to start this album
Connected (BangChan) - 5/10 - All English!! Someone get this man laid he keeps writing horny song 🤨 2016 love island intro type beat. Kind if slays tho tbf. I really like Chan’s vocal tone. Although i prefer his other solo on this album.
Limbo (Lee Know) - 9/10 - Pop Rock ballad from Lee Know. Makes me so happy i get to hear his vocals so much more 😭 everything about this song suits my music taste. No complaints. Just *his voice* man has lungs fr. The way it just ends abruptly is genius. They will forever be stuck in this limbo with no solution or end. PERFECTION. I sobbed when i first listened
Doodle (Changbin) - 7/10 - well and truly noise music. Pots pans and alarms if you will. And for some reason it tickled my brain so well. MY LIFES LIKE A DOODLE MY STYLES LIKE A DOODLE!! I’m in love with the way he says doodle in this!! Changbin said with this song he wanted to make a song with a unique flow and style. And i think he succeeded!! But however because if it’s jarring nature, it loses it’s repeatability
Love Untold (Hyunjin) - 7/10 - now the articles lied to me about this song. It said it was hip hop with rock guitars. There was a single rock guitar chord before the final chorus and they it cut off 🧍🏼♀️ left me disappointed so my initial impression of the song wasn’t that good. BUT after listening again for what it actually is. An alternative hip hop song. It’s amazing!! Hyunjin’s lyricism is so pretty and he makes good tracks!! His vocal/rapping tone works so well with this style of song. However. I do prefer his other solos on this album. That YAEEYAEEYAEEYAEYA get stuck in my head fr.
RUN (Han) - 8/10 - I love the music Han makes so much. He always writes such relatable lyrics and this one hit. And the funky little sophisticated mario cart beat is so good!! I like that the beat feels like its running. It matches the name of the song!! I thought he sounded different in this song and it turns out he used the original recording from 2019 for this so it makes sense. He sounds younger. Writing and recording at a time where he struggled really come across in his voice and it’s really smart of him to keep the original track!! So much replay ability with this one. Its just so addictive!!
Deep End (Felix) - 6/10 - Now when felix said he was gonna do a song that had no rap i was surprised but then he said it was gonna be a song like glimpse of us but mixed a bit with lalaland. And he wasn’t wrong. He said said it would have an ASMR type feel to it. To which he was correct in saying. Now Felix isn’t rhe strongest vocalist in skz. But his development over the last year alone is so good and his confidence has grown in his voice and i’m so proud of him. With this song he managed to show off his fucking 3 octave vocal range. Insane. Imagine what he could do in a couple more years!! The way he harmonises woth himself is so fucking good. Anyway. The song is in all english and i cried 😭 its too sad to be repeatable but it’s so good!!
Stars and Raindrops (Seungmin) - 8.5/10 - seungmin working with Day6’s producer is always gonna create a banger. A retro/nostalgic sounding pop rock style song. Reminds me of Fairytale by Dreamcatcher. Perfect song to listen to on full blast while driving at nighttime!! Also Seungmin’s vocals!! The money i would pay to have this man just sing right next to my ear. 😩 so much replay ability here too!! Beautiful song!!
Hug me (I.N) - 8/10 - quick stop at the beach i suppose 😭 this is such a tropical funky little song. Ukulele song for sure!! Get them 2016 ukulele girlies on this one!! Jeongin’s vocal improvement over the last year makes me emotional. His voice is so unique and lovely and i’m so happy he gets to use his full capabilities now. Someone on twt pointed out you can hear when he’s smiling when he sings and they’re so right. And thats throughout this whole song. Gonna sob Also the sentiment of him wanting to hug us (the fans) in this song as someone who doesn’t like physical touch that much means so much 😭🥹 ILL GIVE YOU A HUG OH BABY!! basically i am in love with him, hand in marriage sir!!
#loveSTAY - 6/10 - I’ve not actually listened to this one before, lets go 👹 ballad!! Dedicated to the fans (STAYS) stunning vocals!! Skz don’t have very show offy vocalists but all their tones are so fucking nice to listen to and that’s so much better to me that being able to hit lots of high notes. It’s cute!! Ballads automatically don’t have much replay ability factor for me because i have to be in a specific mood for them but this is such a lovely song. Lovely is the perfect description i feel
Zone (3RACHA) - 7/10 - honestly, my fave 3racha track i’ve heard so far. (I haven’t dabbled in their pre-debut stuff yet, im too scared 😭) it’s a very classic rap song. The chorus is addicting. CANT YOU SEE IM IN MY ZONE!! The use of native māori words is cool too!! Māori fans have praised the pronunciation and correct use of them so that’s really nice to see!! Changbin’s gritty rap tone is so good man 😩 honestly a slay
Close (Han) - 5.5/10 - Pretty!! I am just in love with the instrumentals he produces, they’re so pretty and chill (most of the time) his rapping style is my fave in the group. Good pitch and flow and stuff. Very pleasing to listen to. And he has such insane vocals too. What can’t this man do actually?? 🤨 the stylistic autotune in the chorus makes it less replay-able personally. I’m not a huge fan of it when it’s on quite high pitched vocals. Just doesn’t sit well in my ears. But aside from that. A very lovely song
Streetlight (Changbin ft. Bangchan) - 9/10 - Oh how i love this song. The meaning behind it 🥹 Changbin wrote it in hopes to be the “streetlight” for fans who are facing a period of darkness and released it during mental health awareness month!! I love him ☹️ but aside from that, i will always love a song that has vocalist changbin in it!! Also it’s nice to hear softer raps from him!! Chan’s feature blends in so nicely and just adds an extra layer of vocals to complete the song!!
I hate to admit (BangChan) - 10/10 - Fuck. I love this song so much. The simple piano instrumental with Chan’s emotional vocals!! Makes me cry every time. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since it came out!! the lyrics are simple but so effective. His voice is just so €~*_=|€]+[=!| in this yknow?? His softer lower tone with powerful chest voice when it picks up?? Stunning!! HOW COULD I FORGET! THE DAY YOU LIED TO ME!!!!
I GOT IT (Han) - 7/10 - youtube diss track type beat 😭 also the switch up from chan to this?? Insane. Who decided the song order for this album!! But anyway. The song. Very much classic rap style song. Get to see the capabilities of Han’s more agressive/ faster style of rapping in this!! Would I shake ass to this?? Absolutely. Again what cant he do? Songs that make me cry and songs that make me shake ass, sometimes even both at the same time?? Genius fr
Miss you (Hyunjin) - 10/10 - oh how i love this song, his soft and swingy style vocals in this make me ascend to heaven actually. The acoustic guitar!! I love a good acoustic guitar in a song!! Honestly not much to say about this other than it’s pure vibes. Gives me the same feeling that Fairy of shampoo by TXT did!!
Maknae on top (I.N feat BC + CB) - 7/10 - this song 💀 its so silly. So unserious. Jeongin went to chan one day and was like “so i want to make a song about how i’m the one in charge and have you and binnie act as my servants/body guards” and i respect him for that. Goofy ass autotune but it works in the unseriousness of the song. MAKNAE ON TOP OHWOAHOH!! Changbin and Chan’s features work so well and yeah overall silly goofy song passes the vibe check
Alien (Han) - 6/10 - I wonder if he regrets writing the chorus in such a high key 😭 but yeah back to the same sort of style as close, this time depicting how he feels like an alien on earth as he doesn’t quite fit in and struggles with who he is as a person. Which fits in with Han’s own struggles with people and social anxiety. Honestly a slay. Made me cry, related a little too much. Again the autotune takes away replay ability for me. But it works better in this song!!
Because (Changbin, Felix) - 6/10 - VOCALIST BINNIE AGAIN!! A chill beat!! Felix’s deeper vocals mix really well with Changbin’s lighter tone. But the rasp of felix’s voice and the grit in changbin’s compliment each other so well in the rap verses. And the soft chorus ties it all together
Piece of a puzzle (Changbin, Seungmin) - 6/10 - oh pretty start!! I will never get over how much i love seungmin’s voice!! DONT FADE AWAY DONT FADE AWAY!! More melody to changbin’s rapping in this too!! Not much to say with this one honestly. Just a chill and pretty song!!
Wish you back (Han) - 6/10 - ah yes, the song everyone low key agrees is written about hyunjin on his hiatus 😀 pain 😀 another song that falls into the same genre as close and alien. But a bit more up beat that those two!! He really does just know how to make a nice song!! I WISH YOU BACK!!! I WISH YOU BACK!! the auto tune is a bit much for me in the song as well. But yeah great song!!
HaPpY (Han) - 7/10 - at this point i think we all have a grasp of what a Han song sounds like. Rap with some nice vocal moments, stylistic autotune and a chill hip hop type beat!! I love that he already has a distinct style that he keeps improving upon as he goes!! The autotune works better in this one too!!
Up all night (BC, CB, FLX, SM) - 10/10 - best song ever. EVER. i love it so much. Funky little tune with some funky dudes. Got halloween vibes (especially the MV) but yeah. It was the first song Chan produced as a trainee but just remastered and featuring some of his members. This coming after maknae on top with a 5 second transition is so fucking good btw. Happened when i shuffled the other day! Has a kind of salsa type beat to it but mixed with that trap/hiphop beat. Works so well. I will never get tired of this song. Even tho its a more relaxed song it doesn’t get boring. I DONT WANT TO GO TO SLEEP NOW, ILL BE MAKING A MASTERPIECE NOW
Drive (Bangchan, Lee Know) - 6/10 - ah yes, the song that is absolutely about driving 😀 this is such an unserious song for me too, it’s so silly. The autotune fits with the unseriousness like maknae on top. But yeah. Just two dudes singing about riding rough in the course of the night. RIDE LIKE THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN!!
Ice.cream (Hyunjin) - 9/10 - words cannot describe how much this song just makes my brain happy. They lyrics are sad tho ☹️ its about seeing someone who has a cold exterior as someone who is actually warm. Hence “i see ice as a cream babe” but in actuality they are just cold 😀 he had to go and make the trope actually sad 😀 but yeah. Relaxing r&b style song. I love it so much
Anyways. Thank you if you made it all the way to the end!! Stan Stray kids and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!! 🫶🏻🎄

Giant Day- Glass Narcissus (The Elephant 6 Recording Company)
Elephant 6 alumni Derek Almstead (Circulatory System, The Olivia Tremor Control, The Glands, Elf Power, and of Montreal) and Emily Growden (Marshmallow Coast, Faster Circuits, and The New Sound of Numbers) have released their Giant Day debut LP, Glass Narcissus. After an EP and a single, it’s well worth the wait. All of the songs were written by Derek except “Patience,” which he co-wrote with Emily. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Giant Day, with production consultation by Will Cullen Hart (The Olivia Tremor Control, The New Sound of Numbers, and more). The artwork, photography, and design were created by Emily. “I Can Take It” leads the album off with a mixture of upbeat sounds. Definitely a toe-tapper with its bass guitar. According to Derek, it’s a tribute to Janet Jackson’s “When I Think of You” written during the COVID lockdown. The lyrics say it all, “I’m not able to sleep more; Can’t get up and get out of bed; Reattaching the moment; Keep kicking and cursing.” Next up, “Ignore the Flood,” has a Blue Oyster Cult “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” vibe, but then takes off in so many different ways leaving BOC behind. Excellent guitar work that highlights this indie pop treat. Watch the video here:
youtube
“Vacation” is another swirl of jangling guitar work that is absolutely gorgeous. A sad song that brings Rain Parade to mind. “You're always a chore; You wonder why you don't see me more; You can't seem to clear your head; All of your dreams are dead, but you don't know why.” “Walk With A Shadow” opens with a trippy bass and Emily taking on the lead vocals. It's another lockdown number that reminds us of the panic at the time. “Why am I letting myself go; I'm getting afraid of my shadow; I can't look at it.” It's a perfect mix of creepy music with lyrics. Next is “Overtone,” a funky, psychedelic number with eerie keyboards and soaring vocals, plus a boatload of other instruments. “Suspended Animation” brings Emily back on vocals with an 80s sounding, bouncy mix of synths, beats, and guitars. Love it! Next up, “Fair Dues” kicks in with intricate guitar work that you hope will never stop. Heather McIntosh (Circulatory System, The New Sound of Numbers, and more) adds some beautiful cello to the mix of too many melodies to count. Stunning! “We Were Friends” is a song about Derek’s childhood friend. It starts off kind of rough, but then settles into a rockin’’ guitar jam. “Your dad was the preacher; And we sang in the choir; You try to corrupt me; And I try to corrupt you... It's a shame the way our world has changed. Don't remember much about you." Derek does a great job singing from the heart here. “Patience” enters with a heavy acoustic bass and a splash of brush drums that eventually lead into a lot of other psychedelic sounds (organ, synths, saxophone (courtesy of Bablicon’s David McDonnell)), but it’s Emily’s haunting vocals that take over here. “Do you sit and wait for the path of the moon? Do you see the rose and not the thorn? Do you see the day, but block out the night? Do you have patience?” Where did it begin? How will it end? Absolutely beautiful noise. The album ends with “Reflections on Kettle Black.” It jumps in as a spacy, frantic instrumental filled with synths, beats, and ambient sounds and then ends abruptly. Whoa! If you miss the Elephant 6 scene, this is a great album to hear. Glass Narcissus is filled with many artists from that collective. ERIC EGGLESON

Review: Plastic Harpoons new glowy single ‘Better Than Dying’ delivers warm and groovy alternative-rock, weighted in a narrative of disappointment
After meeting in Santa Barbara while performing in the local music scene, the four-piece Plastic Harpoons came to life. With shared influences in acts like Rolling Stones, Queens, Mt. Joy and more, the alternative-rock group deliver work that carries through stylings of the past with a modernisation you cannot help but love. Now since sharing singles from 2022 onwards, they’ve built up a well-loved discography of music that proves why they’re sure to go far.
Bouncing into 2024 with something refreshing and bold, the group now share ‘Better Than Dying’, a groovy alternative-rock anthem made for the days where you’re feeling gloomy even under the summer sunshine’s rays. From a dazzling introduction that slowly leads you in with vibrant little pops of cascading piano, it’s hard not to feel better under the comforting arms of Plastic Harpoons. Funky bass twangs and bright electric guitar riff also weave through the introductory little taster of sound, a slow and mellow harbouring of tranquility made for you to sit back, relax and listen along to outside of life’s fast-paced expectations.
Settling into just steady beats, short bursts of guitar strums and lulling bass, the verse finds its way into your eardrums like it’s always been there. Little segments of bright keys, backing effects and instrumental moments set up the more atmospheric edge of the song too, carefully crafting your experience down to the smallest of details. The warm vocals are what truly mesmerise though, a rich performance that carries through a soft raspy twang you can’t help but want to sing along with. With charisma and emotion melted into one, you’re left lingering on every single line with an extra little bit of thought that’s only made possible by their vocalist’s stand-out tone.
The chorus is just as serene and slow-paced as ever, maintaining the track’s staple drowsiness, almost mirroring the more defeated lyrical admissions beneath. It does however pick up lightly, pushed along by concurrent repetitions of plucked guitar strings, matched by continued tumbling drums and some newfound dreamy backing vocals that add a haunting echo to every single line. The profoundly central lyrics are even harder to ignore here too, singing ‘the sun’s in the sky, so why am I crying?’ Finding that sometimes your emotions contrast with how you think you should feel, Plastic Harpoons narrative rings out at the most unavoidable yet, asking the questions that we all often feel - but can sometimes feel guilty for too. Continuing ‘didn’t get what I want, I got what I need. Still better than dying’ and looking for the positives in a deflating experience, there’s a ray of light in an otherwise dark moment, even when they got what they wanted and still found it just didn’t deliver what they really expected.
With an electric guitar solo filling the bridge, along with a stripped-back little intermission for the gorgeous vocals to soar, you’ll find that ‘Better Than Dying’ is that perfect pick-me-up tune for all your sad cry-it-out moments and feel-good playlist needs, somehow finding its way between the two. Keep listening here to really understand the power their sound holds, you won’t be able to find anything else like this.

Papa Steven trying his best to bond with Marcy
Steven was the one up this morning. Marcy knew right away when she took into account his hunched-over stature and sweet smile upon taking off her earbuds. She did her best to hide her disappointment as she returned to her breakfast, but unfortunately, he noticed.
"Everything all right love?" He asked her as he made his way to the coffee. Not before he took a little detour at the stove so he could greet you with a kiss.
"Yeah, sorry," Marcy mumbled, her eyes focused on her food. "I thought you were Dad."
Your daughter had been aware of your husband's condition from a very young age. You wanted to make it as less challenging as possible for her to understand, going so far as to dub each alters as variations of dad to make things easier. She knew they were their own people and should be treated as such. It was also why she was a little sad Marc wasn't the one fronting that morning.
"Did you need him for something?" Steven went on to ask, growing a little worried in case it was something concerning. It was in his nature.
She shook her head, pointing at her earbuds. "I just wanted him to listen to this song. I wanted to get his opinion on it."
"You wouldn't want my opinion?"
"Well, it's a pretty heavy song. It's not exactly your taste."
Steven knew music was a big factor in her relationship with Marc. He was the one who would sing to her as a baby to calm her down and play her some of his favorite songs she ended up loving herself. It was nice they had their own thing. Steven knew Marcy loved him too, but sometimes he did envy that they had more shared interests they could bond over.
"I can still have a listen," he insisted, joining her at the table. "Maybe I l might like it."
She raised a brow at him, unsure. She gave him her buds, regardless. And she was right when she told him it was loud. He was right away met with a melody of roaring guitars and banging drums before a screaming voice spewed out the lyrics to the song.
"Interesting...beat!" He commented over the music.
Marcy didn't look very convinced and shook her head with a chuckle. She was ready to take the earbuds back when his next words stopped her.
"They remind me of Metallica,"
She was certainly not expecting that. "You like Metallica?"
"Oh yeah. Well, mostly their early stuff when they did a lot of guitar solos. And Justice for All was really good at showing that off. But I mostly like to listen to Rob Zombie since his stuff is pretty funky."
Well, this was certainly a surprise. Not a bad one though. You were even caught a little off guard by what Steven said, pausing your cooking to look over with a raised brow.
"Yeah...me too," Marcy uttered, smiling in disbelief. She pointed at her buds. "I'm actually gonna play this song tonight with the band."
Steven has never gone to any of her performances, not when he was fronting anyway. Marc was normally the one to go to The White Rabbit to see her play with her band since he would better appreciate their music. Steven and Jake were told by him that they were good, especially Marcy with all her solos. He wasn't sure about their frontman Eddie. He was an eccentric fellow, according to Marc.
"Dad usually comes to these things, but do you think you'd wanna?"
To say Steven was taken aback would be an understatement. This was the first time he was personally invited to hear her play. He was certainly not going to miss out on this opportunity.
"Yeah, yeah, of course!" He accepted right away, beaming. "I'd love to."
"Awesome," Marcy grinned back as she got up from the table to put her dishes in the sink. "Well, I actually gotta go get ready for rehearsal. Jack should be here any minute to pick me up."
She kissed each of you on the cheek before going upstairs to her room to change, leaving you alone with your husband.
"Metallica?" You inquired, going over to present Steven with his food. "Rob Zombie. How has that not been brought up in the 20 years we've been together?"
It technically has, just not through Steven.
"That's the adventure of marriage, love," he did his best to shrug it off, still smiling. "Always discovering new things about each other."
"Uh huh," you weren't buying it, but you decided not to say anything else about it. You simply kissed his forehead, your subtle way of thanking Marc for giving Steven the chance to spend more time with Marcy. No doubt he was also the one who educated him a little on her favorite musicians.

Hiii! I know you’re doing a live listen rn so i thought I’d send you some of my opinions!
Cinema: i love this so much! the reference to her is the song being called cinema. honestly at the end of the day i don’t care if people make it about her, its a love song with a funky beat and i really love it.
Daydream: this song is literally about wanting to be with someone as long as you can so that when you have to be away from them you can dream about them. There’s one lyric that goes ‘she said love me like you pay me/you know I’ll be gone for so long/so give me all of your love give me something to dream about’ which caught me off guard when i first heard it, but again its an amazing song(thats gonna be a theme here), i love the backing vocals on this song as well
Daylight: this song is giving Zayn’s third album vibes. There are a lot of references to blue in this song, bluebird, blue bicycle.. do with that what you will. There’s also a lovely reference to doing coke in his kitchen, which took me off guard. The main vibe of this song is that he can only see the person he’s talking about under the cover of darkness, so he’s cursing the daylight. At the end of the song he says ‘daylight, you got me calling at all times’ sort of like he loves this person so much he doesn’t want to stay hidden, he wants to be with them at all times. Again love the song-potentially one of my favourites.
Grape Juice: I’m not gonna lie, i could barely understand him in this one, but the gist of it is him proclaiming his love for a bottle of wine. genuinely. he talks about not being able to get through without a bottle of rouge (1982). It cracked me up the first time i listened to it, just because of how out there it is, but i feel like its got a deeper meaning. Again loved it, but not one of my favourites.
Keep Driving: this one is quite summery, but it kind of talks about the highs and lows of a relationship and choosing to continue ‘we’ve held darkness/we’ve held clouds’ ‘should we keep on driving’ also more references to drugs and multiple references to a girl ‘side boob’ ‘choke her/choker with a sea view’. However it also says ‘I will always love you’ which isn’t a sentiment you would expect from a man with supposedly multiple short relationships. It’s more a sentiment you would expect after multiple years. Again one of my favourites.
Little Freak: this song made me cry. Lots of blue green references. ‘Stay green a little while/you bring blue lights to dreams’ its a very dreamy song, talking about paranoia, not being enough for someone but still loving them from afar. Wondering about what they’re doing constantly, hoping to see them soon. It’s honestly such a sad, dreamy song about being so in love with someone. Talks about falling too hard and too fast and potentially hurting the person you love. It’s honestly a beautiful song. Potentially my favourite.
Love of my Life: this is the song ‘a familiar soundtrack played in reverse’ is about. The music is from the Harry’s house announcement video played backwards. Also made me cry. Big reference to a hidden relationship ‘take you with me every time i go away/in a hotel using someone else’s name’. talks about falling in love and knowing that someone is the only one for you. Also talks about having to leave someone behind and not always knowing where they are so having to love them from afar.
Mathilde: about someone being treated wrong, trying to fly without the right resources, but trying and trying again and smiling like ‘its no big deal’. Talks about ‘mathilde’ talking about pain like its all okay, but harry knowing that a piece of them is dead inside. Mathilde is referenced having a power to bring sun to the darkest days. He says ‘anywhere you go, you don’t need a reason, cause they never showed you love, you don’t have to be sorry for doing it on your known’ which made me cry. The main aspect of the song is family and others not supporting this person, and harry is trying to reassure them that they can let it go and they don’t have to feel guilty. This is such a deep song, talking about longing, guilt and love and honestly its beautiful. Definitely in my top 3.
Music for a sushi restaurant: i love this song! It’s so different to anything else we usually here from him. It’s the type of beat that has you dancing! And the backing is amazing. Lots of trumpets. It’s very jazzy and just about being with someone you love. Honestly one of the best songs on the album.
Satellite: about communication, knowing you want this person and they’ll pull you in but needing to talk to them. Talks about going round in circles and knowing you’ll always give in to this person. Waiting for them all night, and wishing you could be there for them when they’re lonely.
What I’ve gained from this album is harry is a sap and he enjoys making his fans cry.
oooh thank you, this was really interesting to read because i'm in such a tizzy that i can barely process any of the lyrics right now and have only focused on the sound! can't wait to really dig into it myself

haikyuu boyfriends singing pt. 2
a/n: honestly i wrote this as soon as i finished the first part lmao, i had so much fun with these.
includes: ushijima, tendou, iwaizumi, bokuto, osamu
part 1
ushijima:
honestly prefers to listen to you and he always smiles softly at the little dance moves you do
he’s not super shy with singing but he gets so focuses on you he forget to join sometimes
ngl it makes him fall a little harder every time
but he will join a little during the choruses if he knows the song
his voice is so deep and soothing
he hums absentmindedly if you two are cuddling and it’s the most relaxing thing
the best position is when he’s laying on his back and your head is on his chest as he pulls you close
you can feel the vibrations from within him as he hums and lulls you to sleep
hums you love songs awie
think: cherry wine by hozier
tendou:
this boy is ENERGY ENERGY ENERGY
also one to listen to a pretty wide range of music but so much of his playlists are fast paced songs and general shit that goes hard
can rap? impressively fast? and he doesn’t miss a beat nor run out of breath it’s crazy
he’s also not that much of a broadway fanatic but he still managed to memorize all of hamilton - all two hours and forty-five minutes of it
he listens to select musicals because songs with characters and a story are pretty fun too
such a dork because a good 10% of his brain is just dedicated to anime openings too
the most fun to sing along with because he gets into character and everything - the facial expressions are immaculate
omg he sung you never ever getting rid of me from waitress and it was the sweetest thing ugh
“oh, im gonna love you so!” is his favorite line to belt to you
he was dancing around your kitchen one sunday morning while you made breakfast just serenading you
literally takes your hand to give you a small twirl or maybe he’s just dancing with you in his arms
he loves to see you giggle and smile
his voice is pretty funky, not perfect, but still fun to listen to
i mean have you heard those vocals *baki baki ni OOre*
he tickles right under your chin when he gets close to you, nose scrunching in adoration
iwaizumi:
okay he’ll huff if you try to force him and he’s not really feeling it
he refuses at first a lot of the time
but because it’s you he caves a lot too, he’ll sing every other line while sneaking an arm around your waist
okay but it really gets good if you get him a little drunk because any restraint is gone
you play his favorite song while he’s tipsy? he’s grabbing the mic (if there is one) from you
pls but he also sounds so sAD for some reason - regardless of what song is actually playing
he’s going all out there’s no stopping him
mans sang need you now by lady antebellum and that shit was beyond funny
mans’ voice was HURT as he belted the lyrics
“and i nEED yOU noOOW” he half-wails, one hand clutching yours as his eyes are shut
you managed to get a video and he gets so grumpy when he finds out
his ears are pink and his face has a very visible scowl
mans doesn’t sing in front of you for a month :(
bokuto:
knows every song on the radio, like i swear he doesn’t miss a lyric EVER
his body just bumps to the beat of whatever’s playing
he’ll insert claps and very wild dance moves too lmao
it’s a slight safety hazard but we love the energy
probably the kind to look forward to karaoke - gets the most excited to go up
honestly he’s the life of the party
bo gets a little too emotional with the songs omg
PLS he legit teared up while he was singing once
you turned away for one second and when you looked back, his hair was droopy and his eyes were watery someone hold this baby
the song: total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler
really fell apart at “every now and then i fall apart”
you gotta pause the song to ask if he’s okay omg
when the song pauses he totally snaps out of it and wipes away his tears without giving them a second thought
if you play a hype song right after he’s all bouncy again like ???
osamu:
sings better than atsumu and atsumu hates him for it
see it’s because he doesn’t overdo it, he’s pretty casual and he isn’t loud like his twin
he tends to sing if he’s cooking and just lost in his own world
this baby makes small random songs while he’s working
“mix mix mix the egg,” he goes, making your heart swell ugh
even if you catch him he’ll deny he ever did it
but some days you two are in that cute mood while you cook in the kitchen together and you’re both humming and singing random things
he also has a habit of singing steps of cooking to tunes of actual songs or swapping out random lyrics
think- royals by lorde
but instead of “and we’ll never be ROyals” it’ll be “and they’ll never be OMelettes” when he accidentally broke them
it’s so cute and he’ll blush if you tease him, maybe even threaten to not give you any food
but kiss his jaw and he’ll met like putty anyway haha

midnights by taylor swift review im back for another first listen release review. the majority of songs i love (bolded i will stand and die by) and enjoy but there are some skips. i think this album has a lot more variety than her last two albums that will pertain to a lot more people, but is less focused on one sound like folklore. off the bat, i doesnt eclipse any of my favs (folklore and reputation), but hm it might fight reputation, it reminds me of a more mature reputation and is more experimental with vocals and instrumentals. lets dive in:
lavender haze - the electronic start of this song with "meet me at midnight" is so danceable. i love the "yeah oh yeah"s, they are so goood. this song just makes me want to move, im obsessed.
maroon - the verses dont do a whole lot for me, a little boring and 2 drum beats, but i love the whole chorus "the burgundy on my t-shirt when you splashed your wine into me" and the "maroon"s coming in louder and louder throughout the song. anti-hero - this song is kind of funny and cheeky, despite the words being super dark (my fav "when my depression works the graveyard shift, all of the people ive ghosted stand there in the room"). i thought the "its me, hi, im the problem, its me" was a little lame, but its growing a lot of me after 2 listens.
snow on the beach - theres like two speeds in this album, one electronic and other side super soft and slow, this one being the later side. in contrast to some of my other favorite songs, it doesnt quite hit as dramatically but i do enjoy its dreamy, light verses and "weird but fucking beautiful". youre on your kid - this little indie beat is so sweet and her spoken "youre on your own kid, you always have been" is perfect, uplifting, brings me peace. i also love the verse, prechorus, verse, chorus pattern. it tells a story from beginning to end, and i love a story. midnight rain - the beginning!!! the contrast of her electronically-deepened voice is so fun against the first line "my town was a wasteland". the soft claps, the drum beat, "picture perfect shiny family holiday peppermint candy" wrap everything together. question..? - i dont love the chorus lyrics, its far too specific. the tone of the song also stays very flat and i dont really love the bridge either especially that autotuned "tonightttt". lmao the clapping and cheering. but the song isnt like annoying or anything so ill listen to it more. vigilante shit - super reputation-like "are you ready for it" sound. i only like this song when she sings "don't get sad, get even". i live for the spice on the "even", its maybe one of my favorite lines in the whole album, but the song itself is bottom tier. bejeweled - i cant with this song. the way she sings *shimmer*, i cant do it. the rhymes at the end of the songs "man / remember", the childish "nice!", "i miss sparkling". cant relate. labyrinth - for a song that is about falling in love, its far too chill and i dont like the weird floob-floob sounds scattered throughout. the vocals are so soft and the instrumentals are random.
karma - this song is an easy fan favorite that blew up on tiktok immediately and im clapping riding that train. its catchy, its funny, its "sweet like honey". this makes me love taylor.
sweet nothing - this funky lullaby is a sweet love song and reminds me of delicate "you must like me for me". the choruses are much better than the verses though, like lol wut "i wrote a poem, you say what a mind, this happens all the time".
mastermind - obsessed with the intro beats and "checkmate i couldnt lose", but the "im a mastermind" and the whole song makes me think really, did you plan your current relationship, kind of weird and creepy sorry (3am track time!) the great war - the chorus is so strong and catchy "my hand was the one you reached for all throughout the great war". i also just like the messaging that her current relationship carried her through this huge drama. bigger than the whole sky - i do like the sound of the background instruments, some of the lyrics im not a huge fan of like "did some bird flap its wing over asia" and etc, and "shouldve been couldve been" feels like it shouldve been in another song. the song just flows past you and its over. paris - uh excuse me? rhyming paris with (some)where else?? genius. the verses are witty and i cant wait to learn them: "drew a map on your bedroom ceiling". also anyone else notice in the bridge "at midnight in my mind" sounds just like daylight. this feels very much meant for lover but it still fits.
high infidelity - the piano and vocals are straight out of evermore but all the beeping and button sounds brings it into the midnights era. im also getting strong renegade energy ("are you really gonna talk about timing in times like these?") from "do i really have to ...". i love "put on your records and regret meeting me, put on your headphones and burn my city". there are some things i would change about the song but overall its good. glitch - the background static and "oh oh ooh"s add velvet and warmth to the song, despite the kind of boring lyrics "i think theres been a glitch im fastening myself to you with a stitch". she writes this glitch/system/static/counterfeit/malfunction metaphor but it never really sticks 100% for me. its just missing something to tie it all together. would've, could've, should've - this song is impressively balanced, with such strong verses, choruses, and bridges. "if youd never looked my way i wouldve stayed on my knees". dear reader - heavenly vocals with a melody that actually surprised me, and a bridge that feels liberating like taylor is finally telling you her truth. the way she manipulates her voice electronically adds so much interest and intrigue to the song. overall, taylor does not disappoint yet again with a funky fun album with a song for everyone.

okay so i saw you were rating music taste? (if not feel free to ignore this ask sjdhsh)
Britt's music things (deluxe edition)
Why hello! This is fun, please everyone send me more music things. I love this <3 I tried not to be too harsh, but please know that all of this is said in good fun and I love getting to know people through their music.
That being said, I'm going to put a cut because I'm not as fancy as my friends and couldn't figure out the text in picture thing. So this has become rather long. (Comments were made during the first listen. They may change with time)
Ghostbusters: 4/10
A classic
I like the 80's sound a lot so you really can't go wrong with that in my books.
That being said; this song gets very repetitive very quickly (which is why the rating is so low)
I Love You Like An Alcoholic: 6/10
The start is cute and cozy, but I'm not sure if I like it.
Is this singing or just talking over music? We may never know.
It kind of feels like a musical song? I'm getting whiplash trying to figure out the genre.
I like the woman's voice!
Catchy in a funky way
Tom's Diner: 6.5/10
Really need to be in a certain mood to listen to this one, but it's in several of my playlists.
The voices are really nice. I like the raspy sound
The 'dududu' part is too long and makes me skip it a lot of the time.
Sunflower: 3/10
Oh no. I can appreciate some sound effects, but this is giving me shivers in a bad way. Don't like the start of this at all.
The chorus is a bit better. I think if the beginning was without the effects I'd like it a lot more
I may have to relisten to this before I like it?
Choking On Flowers: 2/10 (8/10 for the insomnia playlist tho)
Another slow one? Oh, correction, an extremely slow one.
That's it. I'm gonna call an intervention cause this is putting me to sleep (might listen to this tonight in hopes of beating insomnia).
It's too slow. And coming from me, who has a playlist over 8hrs long with slow songs, that says a lot.
Get It On: 6.8/10
Oh! This is more like it.
Still a bit slow for what I'd currently listen to, but I definitely like this.
It builds so nice, but I keep waiting for that one part that makes you go "heck yes!" But it doesn't happen :(
Should I Stay or Should I Go: 9/10
The Clash! My beloved!!
This! More of this!
I need a bit more guitars, and just a bit louder, but yes. This is what I love today. (I'm currently in a rock era? My pop/top40 loving self is very confused)
Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love: 7/10
Van Halen! Now you've got it.
He has better songs tbh. This is pretty soft (compared to, let's say Jump!)
I do like it a lot tho!
Broken Crown: 10/10
Mumford & Sons are so underrated, but I kind of want to gatekeep them?
I haven't heard this song before.
I love the folk-rock sound so much, can't go wrong with that tbh.
I love how they strip the sound and then come back with the instruments during/after the bridge. (That's a "heck yes!" Moment)
"I can take the road and I can fuck it all away // but in this twilight, our choices seal our fate." Love love love this line
Take On Me: 6.4/10
This is a classic and I will never not miss a chance to sing this during karaoke.
It's in my 'Old but Gold' playlist, but I often find myself skipping it.
Under Pressure: 7.6/10
Another classic. Queen & Bowie collaborating gave us some really good songs and I'm so glad for that.
It sounds so fun, but the lyrics are actually pretty sad.
Chamber of Reflection: 5.5/10
It sounds like something a friend of mine would listen to while smoking a joint.
It's not bad, but I wouldn't listen to this on my own.
The ending is so slooowww
Cigarettes Out The Window: 4/10
This tickles my brain, but not in a nice way.
This may be a 'wetleg' situation. Which means I hate it now, but will love it in a couple of weeks. So it gets an extra point for that.
Fahrradsattel: 6.9/10
This intro is... interesting? (Are those WHIP SOUNDS?!)
I have little to no clue as to what he's saying, but he want to be something?
Okay I translated the lyrics. I have questions
Guitar Solo: 9/10
Look. I love guitars. You had me at the title alone.
Puttin' on the Ritz: 5/10
This has become a tiktok song
I kind of like it, but I'm taking a point away because tiktok ruined it.
Very catchy
