Father God: thank You for showing us what true love looks like. Teach us to love others with a heart that bears, believes, hopes, and endures. Give us the strength to carry others" burdens, the faith to see the best in them, the hope to trust in Your promises, and the resilience to endure in love.

Loving God, please help us to love with the same steadfast commitment You have shown us, reflecting Your grace in all our relationships. May our love bring healing, peace, and joy to those around us, pointing them to Your infinite love.

Smoke. Darkness. Heat. Blood. Pain. Blurred vision. Flashes of bright images. Then, nothing. Absolute nothing. Until I woke up in an agony I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I still remember that night. The images forever burned into my memory. In an attempt to end my torture, I only tortured myself further. Over something so minuscule, that I only now realize how insignificant it was. Now I have daily reminders on my once flawless face and head. Some call them “survivor marks”; I call them ignorance scars.

I think you get what I’m talking about. That’s not the point though. That night happened almost exactly three years ago. Yes, I had given up. Yes, I saw zero hope. At that point, and for years afterwards, I was completely broken. I lacked the drive to even put myself back together. How I kept going, is beyond me. But I thank God everyday that He kept me going. And I thank Jesus for carrying me and pulling my hand everyday.

Then, as quickly as it started, that chapter of my life ended. There I was again, truly alone this time. On my own, waking up every day with a blank mind and not in a good way. I was merely existing; no purpose, nothing to gain or lose, caught in a kind of pergatory where you just “are”.

Then I met you. Even then, I was just existing. Expecting nothing. Not even hoping for anything. Just living. Then something happened that I hadn’t experienced in what seemed like a lifetime: you made me laugh. A true, from the gut, covering-your-mouth-so-it’s-not-so-loud laugh. It was like the rusty gears in my head and chest got kickstarted with a million bolts and began turning again. Creaking and grinding, but functional.

As time went on, I began to notice things in myself changing. I began to actually pay attention to my surroundings. I began to take care of myself again. I started noticing I was smiling more often, I was more talkative, I began to come alive. I began to know my name, who I am, and see the world in color again.

Even though my body was alive after what happened, my mind wasn’t. I spent years isolated inside my head, numb to the world, numb even to myself and my own basic needs. There was a way out the entire time, but my back was to the door and in front of me was too dark to see. Your first kiss was like a sudden breeze of fresh air inside the vault I was stuck in. It was then I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder, nudging me, telling me to follow them. It wasn’t easy getting me to move after sitting still for so long, but eventually I followed that hand out of the door and back into the world.

Things were scary at first. I had become so accustomed to living in darkness, that the light was blinding. Almost painful. Sometimes I thought it easier to retreat back to my catacombs, but every time I tried, I felt that same familiar hand on my shoulder telling me “no, stay out here with me”. That hand is a true blessing that I am grateful for.

It’s now been a little over a year and a half since that hand touched my shoulder. They say God acts in mysterious ways, and sometimes I think He acts through us as people to help us. I have been set free from my own personal Hell. I was given a second chance for a reason, even though I had to wait years to find out why. I waited years to feel that hand on my shoulder, even though I prayed daily, long and hard, before finally giving up and just accepting that that was my reality. I had no choice but to accept it and move on.

Yet, when I least expected it, it was your hand that touched my shoulder. It was your hand that kept me from retreating. It was your hand that guided me out. It was your hand, that God blessed me with. It was your hand, that Jesus guided me to that night I met you. It was you all along I was supposed to meet. Patience is a virtue, and good things come to those who wait. That has never sat with me until I met you. You are my saving grace, you are my greatest blessing, you made my world bright again. Every day you keep my gears turning, my eyes wanting to open, and you make my world so beautiful with the most vibrant colors.

You make me feel love. True, deep, love. Thank you.

Agape Love: Jesus

Jesus is the very definition of Agape Love

Agape love is a self-sacrificing love. An unending, unconditional love. A love-you-no-matter-what Love.

“The greatest demonstration of love anyone can give is to die for his friends.” (John 15:13)

It is true Love. It is the kind of love God has for us. Abba’s Love never fails.

“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)

It is God. GOD is agape love!

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (1 John 4:16)

We’re often reminded in the Bible that God loves us; we’re also called to love each other in the same way. As we love ourselves. That is how we live in God and God in us.

1 Corinthians 13 tells us more about what love is and it is beautifully written to describe the most beautiful kind of love.

God is love and teaches us how to love.

Se a resposta for não, significa que não estamos preparados para ser amados.

Afinal, quem ama na maioria das vezes não espera retribuição. Isso não quer dizer que quem ama pode ser desprezado e rejeitado e ficará tudo bem.

Mas quer dizer que a motivação inicial é fazer o outro feliz, sem expectativa que o outro retribua com a mesma intensidade. Até porque cada pessoa tem uma linguagem de amor ou para amar e se sentir amada.

This is one of my favorite verses. The Bible is meant to be full of good news, it’s not supposed to cause fear, guilt, or dread.
