BASSLINE BATTERIES 4 BEGINNERS ⇉ A PRESENTATION INTRO

as you can tell, it was meant to be comic sans and then i got distracted by pretty fonts and therefore it is just presentation! hope you like it, i spent a lot of time on it >:3 for some reason. it was really fun, though!

Seulame sighed, running her fingers through the morning waters of the creek.

“What’s up?” Leo asked, crouching down beside her.

“I don’t know. I guess…I kind of feel like I am water and the universe is the earth. All I can do is follow its path and let it push me around. I have no control over anything.”

Leo let out a breath, moving to cross his legs as he turned to Seulame. “Yeah, but as time goes on, the water starts to erode the earth, molding it to its own will. We all make a difference in the universe, even if it’s slow-coming and we don’t really see it.”

Genre: urban fantasy, contemporary fantasy, low fantasy, new adult 

Synopsis: Leo and Seulame don’t know each other, but someone has been watching them. After escaping from underneath a subway station together, the two come find themselves a target for a benevolent unknown entity that wants to give them everything they ever dreamed of.  Leo wants nothing more than to escape the humdrum of his life, but Seulame is wary. When Seulame loses her job, however, the two find themselves following a map with the key to their happiness. 

This story takes place in four parts: the city (Lachryphage), the road (Psychidae), the forest (Diphyllia grayi), and the sea (Anima mundi) and follows the adventures of Leo (disaster bi, sun child) and Seulame (general disaster, moon child) as they both work to overcome their childhood traumas that have made it difficult for them to navigate as adults. Basically, my children deserve to experience the childhoods that were robbed from them by visitations from all the local cryptids. 

Trigger Warnings: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, child abuse, homophobia, racism (first four are heavy themes throughout, while the other three are just implied or slightly referenced)

Disclaimer: this story is not about the two overcoming their mental illnesses through love and nature!!! Although there is some recovery from having someone who understands them and having a chance to escape their stressors and triggers, the two still have recovery that needs to be made in the form of therapists/medication by the end of the story! I am a big believer in seeking professional help when you are struggling and encourage anyone who feels like my characters to seek these out!

Last Line Tag

I was tagged by @writingamongthecoloredroses, so here’s Henry and Jack from my Pirates WIP freaking out about a mermaid (I swear I’ll do a WIP intro for this someday.)

“Uh—Henry?” Jack said shakily. “Is that a—”

“That’s a mermaid. Oh god, that’s definitely a mermaid. It’s huge—I’ve never seen one before. Have you seen a mermaid? I’ve never seen a—oh god, it’s a mermaid.” Henry babbled.

The mermaid opened her mouth and let out an ear-piercing screech, not dissimilar to the sound of a cat choking on glass, and Jack unfroze. “Henry, we need to get a lifeboat,” he said, voice shaking.

Henry tried to move, but Jack was still gripping at his shoulders. Finally, he wrenched himself out of his grip and tried to untie the ropes keeping the lifeboat attached to the side of the ship. “Help me, you idiot,” he said to Jack.

navigation page!! so basically you link everything in here, i always go to this and i find this page super helpful! if you want coding help feel free to ask, i started out being a dumbass and now i can do basic coding lol. remember to have a tagging system too!!

about page!! i love about pages, it defines how i see this person and i get to know the person behind the blog more <3

wip page!! i love love love wip pages, it breakdowns your wip into basic info and i get to know more about your work! this is not necessary but i appreciate writeblrs with wip pages

Past a thick line of trees, the silhouette of a multistoried house towered over a fenced garden. Paper lanterns of different colors dangled from branches of massive trees and cast soft light onto high, untamed grass. In fact, it stood high enough to hide the wooden flooring of the covered porch.

Only the black swan neck pillar light with the bright light of the moon trapped within enlightened parts of it and the three steps of the staircase leading up to the door of the little shop called Taken For Granted.

A deer plowed its way through the high grass but Teivel didn’t pause to watch where it was going. As early as it was, sightings of deer were more than just common. And when the East Wind blew, they even went to town.

As he strolled past the Taken For Granted, the wind chimes to it’s north and east sides swayed back and forth. Soft melodies, a deep resonating one for the North, wafted towards him and if last night’s storm hadn’t blown away his wits completely, the wind chime of the North slightly dominated the one of the East.

Perhaps, there wouldn’t be any deer in town this morning.

Now (2020) / taken from my WIP Carrion

The sunset shrouded itself in silence seeing as the birds stopped to sing and the crows refused to call their murder to gather. Deep in the old sandstone mansion, away from the town, and hidden behind a dense line of trees, Neve prepared the tea for his granduncle’s guests.

The soft clanking of thirteen gold-leaf decorated teacups, the hiss of the brass teapot, and the quiver in Neve’s quiet humming ghosted through the slightly opened kitchen door into the dimly lit hallway.

Soon, Neve carried the heavy tray through the shadows, two stories up the creaking staircases where he shouldered the double doors to the large living room open.

The thick, red carpet swallowed any noise, and for a moment, Neve gave the barest of smiles for it felt like walking on moss, but it died instantly when he noticed his granduncle staring out the massive floor to ceiling window, casually watching the dying sun.
