Re-reading The Vampire Lestat, it struck me that Lestat managed to recreate his childhood in Auvergne with Louis at 1132 Rue Royale.

He also found a partner who completely embodies his mother and triggers him in the same way. Gabrielle de Lioncourt was a very unhappy person who would escape her circumstances by reading, and she would spend all day doing this while neglecting Lestat when he was only a child.

Louis shares this reading habit with Gabrielle (as well as the ability to ignore his child while the other father torments her. "Come in the great hall and play chess with your father.").

I want to see these flashback scenes recreated in season 3 so badly.

Is it far-fetched to say that I think Louis knows Armand is lying? 'Cause it's so fucking unbelievable that I don't even know where to begin with, but anyways, let's just try it: Is it possible that Louis really asked to have his memories erased?! Yes, Louis wasn't in his right mind and (speaking as a former suicidal) the shame that you get after a failed attempt is unbearable, specially if you're not in therapy (like Louis. he should really try it, though). But the tampering is the thing, the repeated words like he's been through sessions of hypnosis are so creepy. And the fact that it paints Armand in a positive light, as well, 'cause now "look, he saved Daniel's life and Louis from himself! he's such a good husband, so much better than Lestat!" And I think that this isn't the only time his memories were messed with. Like in the first season's finale, in this season, Daniel is gonna trigger Louis' memories of the trial and the extent of Armand's involvement in it, that's how they're gonna break up. But I'm getting ahead of myself here. As I was saying, I think that, even if it's deep down, Louis knows Armand is lying, but he pretends to believe him, because Louis can't bear to be alone. He is delulu, we know that, but just like when Lestat was cheating and lying again and Claudia asked what he was going to do about it, he does nothing, because "what's the point?". My guess is that a part of him thinks he deserves it ("the only way you know how to love", Dreamstat said. "He craves chaos", like Jacob rightfully pointed out), maybe it's internalised homophobia, maybe it's cause of his mother or because of his father (or most likely all of that, cause they're connected). Something that I've always noticed, he went on and on about his mother and his siblings, but he never really opened up about his father (it's very little information we have about him, hell! We don't even know his name!) and that makes me wonder, because Louis is an avoidant. To summarize it: i think it's daddy issues.

I do love it when Lestat attempts little Claudia do-overs like I cannot see Rose and Mona except through that lens and for this reason I am desperate to see them in the AMC show. Lestat will forget that Mona exists when she leaves his sight line or at least choose not to think about her on purpose but she IS a Claudia defender and explicitly connects their situations and I love that.

I do love Armand's displays of servitude because it takes into account the abusive justification of "I'm the victim because of how much I love you. I'd do anything for you, therefore it's you who has power over me." Lestat did that a little bit but Armand is full throttle.
