Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.
Your saturation level is lower than average. You don't stress out over things and don't understand people who do. Finishing projects may sometimes be a challenge, but you schedule time as you see fit and the important things all happen in the end, even if not everyone sees your grand master plan.
You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
[ WHAT PLANT(S) BEST REPRESENT YOU ] :
ECHINACEA: You are a protector. With an amazing blend of optimism, nurturing and goodwill, you lend your strength and energy to those in need. Your seemingly infinite goodwill and boundless supportive energy make you the one people turn to when times are tough. Your greatest strength is, of course, also one of your weaknesses, especially if you neglect to take care of yourself. At times like these, it’s a good idea to take a step back and focus some of that protective energy on yourself. A bold flower with a tough stalk and tenacious roots, echinacea is as strong as it is beautiful. This pretty, hardy plant brings that same quiet strength to the herbal world.
PEPPERMINT: You are unflappable. You are cool in the crisis, calm in the storm, collected amongst the chaos. You’re a breath of fresh air, a waft of inspiration to the down-and-out, a refreshing, inspiring, uplifting person to be around. Of course, even a cool cucumber like yourself can run into trouble. You may try to take on too much, which can leave you feeling weighed down and not quite yourself.
SLIPPERY ELM: Let’s just say you’re a vocal person. Sure, that might mean you’re chatty. But it also means you’re the one humming in the hallway, singing in the shower, speaking your mind, standing up and shouting if need be to get yourself heard. You’ve got a voice and you know how to use it. Inclined to speak up for the voiceless, defend the defenseless or simply bring joy to the joyless, you may have a tendency to overuse your voice.
[ THEME/CHARACTER SONG ] Teen Idle by Marina and the Diamonsds
—— ❝ do you have anything more you wish to say ?? ❞

Wilder Interview!
Back in September, my school had its second annual Battle of the Band's competition. One of that acts, who actually ended up winning the battle, really captured my attention. Taylor and I exchanged a few messages with indie rock band, Wilder, where we talk about Battle of the Bands, new music, and crayons! Read our interview with Wilder below! Also, check out Wilder's official links at the end of the interview!
To start things off, can you tell us who you are and your role in the band?
Ben Booth - Electric Guitar
Charlie Greene - Vocals/Acoustic Guitar
Taylor Dubray - Bass
Chase Wofford - Drums
I discovered you guys through Belmont University’s Battle of the Bands, which you ended up winning, so congratulations! What did that mean to you guys as a band? What was going through your minds when you found out you won?
Thanks so much! Yeah, that was actually our first show with our new drummer, Chase, so we were really excited to play. We opened up with a new song, “Oh to be Your Only One,” that we’d been dying to introduce. Winning felt great! There was a ton of awesome talent up there, so we were just stoked to be up there! We’re big fans of the Musician's Corner festivals in Centennial, so it's gonna be awesome to get out there next summer and jam out in the park! As a band we see winning the Battle of the Bands as a cool compliment that people out there are digging the music we’re working to create.
You released your debut EP, Tomorrow, back in 2015. Being your first EP, was the recording process anything like you expected? What was the process like as a whole?
With our debut EP, that was actually when Ben and Charlie were a duo. With the full band now we feel like we’ve totally re-invented ourselves as a band. We’re actually currently in works on our first full band EP that more truly represents what we’ve become as a band.
So we go to Belmont University together, which a lot of people come to study music in some way, shape, or form. What brought you guys to Belmont or Nashville in general?
Charlie is from Bowling Green, KY about an hour north. Ben is from Baton Rogue, Taylor is from St. Louis and Chase is from Dallas, TX. I think we all came to the city with a desire to play music and join a group. Luckily through the past year, we all found each other and Wilder represents a melting pot of our each individualistic playing styles and influences.
Did Wilder come about while at Belmont? How did you guys meet and start the band?
Ben and Charlie met in November of freshmen year at the bell tower. In their first time jamming, they wrote “The Fire” and from then on knew we had something worth diving into. About a year later, Taylor picked up the bass and joined the group. The three of us opened up a completely new sound from our writing sessions. The first song we wrote together was “Losing my Mind,” which we did an Amplify Session with and has become one of our favorite songs. We spent our first year with drummer, Danen Reed, who was a huge help in us finding our sound and getting our feet wet in the Nashville scene, but had a mutual split this summer and felt an immediate connection with our new drummer, Chase, after jamming for the first time. Chase helped our band find a new sound by implementing a very groovy style of drumming into our sound. For most of the songs off the new EP we’re working on, they are songs that are primarily written during band practice. We all are best friends first and band members second, which has built a very tight brother like bond within the group.
Since living in Nashville, what has it taught you about music and the industry in general?
Nashville is awesome! The city itself has such a craving for music that the community we’re in feels like something unique and special. We’ve developed close friendships with other bands, artists that inspire us and push us to better ourselves. It’s taught us to think outside the box in our creative mindset. Some of our favorite music out of Nashville is the music that steers clear from the industry model of what a song should say or do.
I was creeping on Wilder’s YouTube channel, and I watched all of your videos. Y’all definitely have that singer-songwriter/folk/rock sound while also putting your own twist on things. With that being said, who are some of your musical inspirations?
We love Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Alabama Shakes, Mumford & Sons, and the Districts to name a few. But also from an inspirational and creative stance, artists like Franks Ocean inspire us to approach songs in ways we’d typically never try.
Nashville is known to have a ton of amazing concert venues, and Wilder has played a variety of shows within the Nashville area. Do you guys have a favorite venue? If so, why?
Exit/In is definitely a favorite for sure. Just being on a stage that has been played by so many iconic musicians and personal heroes of ours makes playing the venue somewhat surreal. Also, just the sound in there is incredible. We also had one of our favorite shows at a house show last year at the Babe House (a student run house show venue) and the stage (living room). It’s a tiny space but a killer place to rock out. Nothing better than playing house shows, thats where songs can really come alive.
Your song “The Fire/Hope” is super powerful, lyrics and all. Something that really stands out is the ending, where the song becomes a bit more acoustic/mellow. Was there a reason behind that? What can you tell us about that song as a whole?
Thats an awesome question and means a lot that you connect with it! The outro is called "Hope" and it's probably our favorite part of any show. When all four of us are gathered around the mic, I think it really represents what Wilder is all about. We’re four dudes who come together as one to try to give people something to connect with and walk away feeling a sense of hope. Even despite the struggles we all face, everyone longs for a better tomorrow. It's what we’re all working towards hopefully, which I think is the message we’re trying to relay in the line, “Desperation is holding on to hope, and I won’t let go."
You’re a new addition to a crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Hmmm...I would probably go with like a solid, dark red. We sat and talked about this question for a weirdly long time and made no solid progress. Maybe we’re a new color that's never been invented haha! Something fresh!
Our blog is called “Just Your Average Misfits.” In your eyes, what makes you a misfit?
I'd say we’re "misfittish" because we’re just trying to bring that raw rock sound to the masses. The music industry today seems to be going to more digital heavy production based sound, which is awesome in it’s own way. But we’re all about taking that raw energy and instrumentation and putting our heart in soul in the playing.
