How Can Lord Vishnu's Teachings Be Applied to Modern Life Challenges?
Lord Vishnu's teachings offer timeless wisdom applicable to modern life challenges, providing guidance on maintaining balance, resilience, and ethical living. One of Vishnu's key teachings is the concept of Dharma, or righteous duty. By focusing on fulfilling our responsibilities with integrity, we can navigate career decisions and personal relationships with moral clarity.
Vishnu's emphasis on detachment and maintaining equanimity helps manage stress and anxiety. By not becoming overly attached to material gains or losses, we can handle life's ups and downs with greater ease. His advocacy for selfless service (Seva) fosters community and compassion, encouraging acts of kindness and support in today's individualistic society.
The avatars of Vishnu, such as Krishna and Rama, demonstrate perseverance and resilience, inspiring us to remain steadfast in our goals despite challenges. Additionally, Vishnu's teachings on mindfulness and meditation enhance mental well-being by promoting inner peace and clarity.
Ethical leadership, as exemplified by Vishnu, is vital in fostering trust and respect in professional and personal spheres. Balancing material pursuits with spiritual growth ensures a fulfilling life. By integrating these teachings, we can effectively address modern challenges, leading a life of purpose and harmony. A brass Vishnu murti can serve as a constant reminder of these values.

Presence is far deeper than our person.
he Various Forms of "Tandava"
Tandava is the divine dance performed by Lord Shiva. It is considered to be the source of the cosmic cycle of creation, preservation and dissolution. The word Tandava comes from Tandu, the attendant of Lord Shiva, who at Lord Shiva’s orders, instructed Bharat muni, the author of Natya Shastra, the usage of Angaharas and Karanas, which together constitute this cosmic dance.
“Pumnrityam tandavam, prahu: stree nrityam lasyamuchyate”
Tandava the masculine form of dance is attributed to Lord Shiva which is forceful and full of vigour often manifesting anger and fear while lasya anga attributed to Godess Parvathi is the feminine form where the movements are gentle and graceful often depicting love and affection.
The deep significance underlying this dance form is the personification of Lord Shiva as Nataraja or Nritya Murti. His dance is supposed to represent the five manifestations of eternal energy- Srishti (creation), Sthiti (preservation), Samhara (destruction), Tirobhava (illusion) and Anugraha (emancipation).
The various Tandavas are described in Bhavaprakash and in the Abhinaya Darpanam of Nandikeswara.
In the Bhavaprakash five forms of Tandava are described:
Ucchanda: This includes the forceful and quick Angaharas, Akaashacharis and Bhramaris. Raudra, Bhibhatsa and Bhayanaka are the rasa associated with this.
Chanda: This is represented by Bhumichari karanas and angaharas and evokes Veera and Raudra rasa.
Prachanda: This tandava involves jumping forceful karanas and bhramari. Rasas associated with this are Raudra and Bibhatsa.
Prerana and Prapana: These two are considered to be of tepid and are less forceful and masculine.
Nandikeswara in his Abhinaya Darpanam describes seven types of Tandava which are believed to have been performed by Lord Shiva.
Sandhya Tandava: A form of tandava performed by Lord Shiva at the time when the world was poised between lingering day and the oncoming darkness of the night. It was the dance of creation and scriptures. It is believed that Sandhya Tandava protects one and all.
Ananda Tandava: This form of Tandava was performed by Lord Shiva for protecting his disciples. In Chidambaram temple, the deity is represented in this pose. The image is depicted with four hands holding the drum, fire, the right hand in the Abhaya Hasta, the left hand with the Danda Hasta bestowing boons. The left leg is in Kunchita pada and the right tramples upon the sole. This posture is also known as the Sada Tandava.
Kali or Shakti Tandava: This Tandava is the type performed by Shiva and Kali. It is believed that Kali or Shakti is the energy that cannot be separated from Shiva. Shiva has the power to create only when he is united with Shakti.
Tripura Tandava: This is the Tandava performed by Shiva after killing the three rakshasas, Tarakakasha, Kamalaksha and Vidyun mali. He fought the rakshasas driving the earth as his chariot, Meru as the bow, Sun and Moon as the wheels, Adishesha as the rope, Lord Vishnu as the arrows, four vedas as horses and Lord Brahma as the charioteer. By destroying these rakshasas he freed the three worlds from evil.
Sati and Shiva Tandava: This Tandava is believed to have been performed by Shiva and Sati. This represents the eternal dance of the Man and Woman, depicting the unity of Purush and Prakriti. This item also depicts both forms of dancing, Tandava as well as Lasya.
Ardhanaari Tandava: This type of Tandava was performed to show the unity between Nature and God. Shiva took Parvati as a part of himself and assumed the form of Ardhanareeswara – one half man the other half woman.
Samhara tandava: This is the dance of annihilation and release. Shiva is believed to have performed this when Sati burned herself in ashes. Shiva in anger danced so vigorously that lords feared destruction of the three worlds. Only when Lord Bramha, Lord Vishnu and Devas appealed to him did he return to normalcy.
The concepts of Tandava and Lasya represented Shiva and Parvati have been the source of inspiration for most dancers across classical dance forms and across generations as it encompasses the entire cycle of cosmic evolution and stands for the dual personification of the Absolute.

Mahabharata AU—pt.6
Masterlist<– rest of the parts here
"Greetings Maharaj..." Came the voice of Maharishi Ved Vyas.
"Greetings Maharishi!" Dhritarashtra replied, followed by everyone.
Maharishi's gaze swept across the room and then he nodded. He accepted everyone's greetings before stating his goal. "I have only come here due to Vasudev's request. Vasudev, i have made the medicine as per required. Please take her from here and instruct the doctors to apply it the required way." Muralimanohar nodded, finally smiling and lifted Gudhakeshaa in his arms and departed without saying a word.
Ved Vyas was now standing in the middle of the courtroom. "Is it true that my brother cheated in the game, Maharishi?" it wasn't the Maharani's tired voice, it was the voice of a tired mother. "Yes Maharani, it is indeed true. Your brother had made the dice with the bone of your deceased father so that the dice would listen to only his command. The game was illegal from the start." That answer was not to empathize with anyone, it was only used to convey the truth.
Shakuni tried to hide his presence behind his nephew's large body. The appearance of Krishna and Vyas was beyond his wildest dreams. Duryodhan was no different. He was panicked because their plan was exposed, but of course he had no regrets at all.
"Who is Naari, Maharishi? And why did Govind call metion her name and...w-what happenrd with Aryaputri Arjuni?" Draupadi asked, still sobbing yet gradually lesser.
"Because that is the truth, O' Yojnagandha. Rajkumari Arjuni is Naari and Vasudev is Narayana. They were both Great Tapasvi and Tapasvini of ancient times, two lovers who were incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Devi Lakshmi. They were reborn in this age to uphold dharma, as well as to complete the purpose of their incarnation. In the concept of Naari and Narayan, the divine manasvi souled Naari is an eternal beloved of the Most Pure, divine souled Narayan. As per what happened with Rajkumari Arjuni, she just unlocked her full power due to the anger she had bottled up for years."
Maharishi began to tell the story of the Eternal Soulmates.
"Once upon a time, there lived an Asura called Dambhodbhava. Dambhodbhava wanted to become very powerful. So he prayed to Lord Surya. Lord Surya who was pleased his devotion emerged and gave him a boon. However, Dambhodbhava asked for immortality. Surya said that was impossible because every living creature born in the world must die so that the nature remains in balance. Unless there is a destiny that must be fulfilled. Dambhodbhava thought and said: 'My Lord, then give me a thousand armors (Kavach) that will protect my body, and only a person who performs penance for thousands of years can penetrate my armor, and that person will die after penetrating this armor of mine.'
Finally, Lord Surya granted the wish by giving him a thousand Kavach and a thousand earrings (Kundal) on a thousand heads. From then on Dambhodbhava was known as Sahasrakavacha (The One with a Thousand Armours) and he used his powers to do evil.
At that time, devi Murti, the daughter of Daksha, wanted to end the threat of Sahasrakavacha and prayed to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu appeared before her and gave a boon that he would be born as her son and would be the cause of Sahasrakavach's death. Later she gave birth to Narayana. Lord Vishnu had divided his soul in two parts and Devi Lakshmi mixed the major part of her energy with the smaller division, so Devi Lakshmi reincarnated on Earth along with her eternal soulmate.
Narayana and Naari grew up in a dormitory surrounded by lush forests. They are devoted worshipers of Lord Shiva. Their mothers and families also encouraged them to study supernatural powers. The two lovera learned the art of war. They are inseparable. Both of them trusted each other and never doubted the other.
As time went by, Sahasrakavacha started attacking the area around Badrinath forest, where Narayana and Naari lived. Naari went to Sahasrakavacha and challenged him. Sahasrakavacha belittled her and said that no one would be able to defeat him and penetrate his magic armor, but Naari just smiled calmly, Sahasrakavacha looked into her calm, lotus eyes and for the first time, he had felt fear.
The dusky complexioned, bewitching, female fighter and sage had striked fear in the evil doer's heart.
He said nervously. "I can be killed just by doing penance for thousands of years!"
Naari gave a calm smile. "I am well aware of that. I did not do any penance, but my Narayan has done it for me."
Sahasrakavacha took up arms and the fight began. Sahasrakavacha faced Naari's attacks and was shocked. He realized that Naari was very powerful and indeed got a lot of strength from her companion, Narayan.
Sahasrakavacha's first armor broke and he realized that Naari and Narayan were connected from the deepest depths to the shallowest surface of their souls. They are just two people yet have the same soul. But Sahasrakavacha wasn't too worried. He only lost one of his kavach and soon, Naari died.
When Narayan came there, he smiled sadly at his Naari, as he just saw her die in front of him. He closed his eyes and chanted a spell. Sahasrakavacha was frightened when he realized that Narayana had performed austerities for a thousand years and had acquired the Mritunjay Mantra.
And so on, the cycle repeated, until Naari succeeded in breaking through the nine hundred and ninty nineth armor and Narayan had to witness her death for a total of nine hundred and ninety nine times, and his heart broke more than before each time she died. Sahasrakavacha realised he could never defeat the two. He fled and took refuge under Suryadev.
Narayana and Naari went to Lord Surya and asked him to hand over Sahasrakavacha. But Lord Surya refused because Sahasrakavacha was His ardent devotee. Naari was overcame with rage amd cursed Surya that a part of his energy and Sahasrakavacha's soul would become one and be born as a human, and would experienced many misfortunes during his life.
Then later on, Lord Shiva tried to bring out Naari and Narayan's fame throughout the world. To do so, he threw his ultimate weapon, the Pasupatastra at them. The power of their meditation was so powerful that the weapon lost its power before them. Lord Shiva stated that this happened because they were the first jnanas who were constantly in the Nirvikalpa Samadhi stage.
This incident took place at the end of the Treta Yuga. Soon after the Treta Yuga ended and the Dwapara Yuga began, to fulfill the promise of destroying the Sahasrakavacha and to destroy the evil, Narayan and Naari were reborn. This time as Vasudev Krishna and Rajkumari Arjuni."
"We have made a grave mistake!" Said the Mahamantri, Vidur. "Please, do give us advice on what we should do!"
"Just as Vasudev has said, Mahamantri, your next actions will determine the fate of the Kuru Dynasty. I advise you to return the property of the Pandavas treat them well. Otherwise, I can guarantee that a major war will occur."
Should i still continue this? It was supposed to be the last part.

Brave Women of Bharat... by Arun Pudur
It was the year 1323 CE.
Srirangam was attacked by the Delhi Sultanate during the Tamil month of Vaikasi. Nearly, 12,000 residents of Srirangam island had laid down their lives fighting to protect the temple. The forces attacked the temple and Lord Ranganatha's jewels and the temple gold were looted.
The forces also wanted to seize the murti of Vishnu. They searched for the murti but the Vaishnavite Acharya, Pillailokacharya had taken the murti away and fled to Madurai. (The murti of Vishnu, called Namperumal that left Srirangam in 1323 returned back only in 1371).
Unable to locate the murti, the Sultanate forces killed all the Temple Brahmins and later launched a massive hunt for Pillailokacharya and Namperumal.
Fearing that the forces would capture the Acharya and the idol, Vellayi, a temple dancer performed a dance before the commander of the forces thus gaining time for Pillailokacharya to escape with the image.
Her dance lasted for hours together and finally she took the commander to the eastern gopuram and pushed him down. After killing him, Vellayi jumped to her death from the tower of the eastern entrance chanting the name of Ranganathar.
Hailing Vellayi's sacrifice, the chief of Vijayanagara forces, Kempanna, who drove away the Sultanate forces, named the tower after her. The gopuram continues to be painted white in her memory and is now called as Vellai Gopuram.
Lest we forget.

Presence is far deeper than our person.
The Various Forms of “Tandava”
