Sorry this is random, but I admire your fics so I'm gonna ask for help oaufuwi I'm not new to tumblr but I am when it comes to fics so I made a bts fic blog. Any advice on how / when you post? I dont have followers yet so I'm afraid if I post my fics they will just kinda whittle away before anyone can even give them a chance lol howd it work out for you?

i think the best thing to do is to join a network! @bangtan-bookclub recently opened their apps but i think that’s closed now. anyway, networks are a great way to get your work out there and to meet other writers too through group chats that these networks usually have. you can check my navi to see the networks im a part of and you can check out other writers’ network page or wtv to see ones that they are a part of.

next, tag your fics! use popular tags like bts fanfics and bts scenarios so your work can be seen by those who go through the tags to find fics. other appropriate tags are bts smut and like the member’s name followed by the genre e.g: namjoon fluff, hoseok angst. btw only the first 5 tags work apparently so yeah! 

also i dont know if this is still a thing or if it was an urban legend hahaha but i rmb you had to follow a few blogs and like/rb at least 200 posts to be able to appear in search results. you can try posting a test post and tagging it with the tags above and see if they appear in the ‘recent' section of the results. they used to have that restriction bc they didn’t want newly created spam blogs to be able to take over the results section of the tags... but i’m not sure about now haha

this is more of a personal choice but when i wade through the tags, i’m more likely to click on a fic that has a nice format y’know? like which member it’s about, the AU, length of the fic, a short summary, genre. a lot of writers like to use a gif/header when they post their fics too! but ya i guess i’m drawn in by that and im more likely to read it if you catch my attention w all of that.

also i usually post around 8.30 pm CST... why? i’m not sure hahah it’s just the time i’ve picked for no apparent reason. I usually post around then and then go to bed soon after lmao. but ya, post on a weekend too bc you know more ppl are on tumblr during the weekend. i guess? im not sure if all of this is even real hahaha but it’s just my routine.

tbh the first time i posted a fic it wasnt even on this account and like i got 30 notes and was very happy hahaha but also i was lucky bc i didn’t know how tags worked and i used a network tag and they reblogged my work lol. the owner of the network was really nice and asked me to join and it was great! so ya i like networks! i think they’re fun! bc you get to discover other people’s work through them as well.

but!!! here’s the biggest piece of advice i can give!

write for you. write about things you’re interested in! notes are really dumb and are not a reflection of how good/bad you are. getting noticed or wtv is mostly to do with luck. just keep writing and keep doing you. there will be like-minded people who appreciate your stories that are bound to come across your story some day. writing on tumblr should be fun and not about all of this other stuff but ya i get it... it’s nice to know someone out there enjoys what you write!

YEAH HE SAID HE AND MC WERE RLLY INTO ANIME AS KIDS. luke pearce who is 24 years old in 2030 means that from the Important Media Ages (12-15) it was 2018-2021. this period of time, anime started getting more and more accessible, most notably getting on netflix and stuff like this. so like all the anime on netflix rn? yeah luke's watched them.

though because i kin luke, imma say that his fave is fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood. ive got no characterization proof for this, i just want to give him this honor

additionally, luke is a HUUUUGE fan of the original Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle novels (ACD Sherlock) and i think this would have pushed him to watch like, just every popular sherlock media adaptation there is. he personally liked Elementary better than BBC Sherlock. he generally just gravitates to the adaptations that dont forget about the heart of all of the characters.

also also also, luke likes action movies ranging from "hey this is "good" to critics" to "this is a shit movie but MY GOD IS IT FUN!!!"

artem wing who is 29 years old in 2030 means that from the Important Media Ages (12-15) it was 2013-2016. but also artem is a MOVIE SNOB LMAOOO, hes That Guy with the Opinions On Film and you bet that his analytical ass was into just the most extra shit to watch those days because no teenager is chill, every teenager has some kind of ego, i dont know what movies he would have watched at that point to be the Smartest Teenager About Movies, but he sure did watch them

though artem also is very into sci-fi literature and 2013-2016 had a BUUUNCH of huge sci-fi movies. Pacific Rim, Gravity, Interstellar, Arrival. Arrival is deffo artem's fave, dont fight me on this, i can explain further but not in this answer bc it will get LOOONG LOL

artem also is into "classics" which uh. wait artem what do you Mean by that, what is a "classic" for somebody born in 2001??? i dont really know exactly what he means by "classics" so i just take it to mean he's a slut for period dramas which leads me to my closing point

marius von hagen who is 21 years old in 2030 means that from the Important Media Ages (12-15) it was 2021-2024. good fucking lord, marius was born in 2009 and that makes him so young that his Important Media Ages arent even DONE HAPPENING IN OUR CURRENT TIMELINE, JESUS....

2021 is an interesting era of entertainment because it is getting steadily more and more apparent that corporate greed is trying to swallow up good storytelling; movies and shows are made as fast food products to be consumed immediately and thrown away just as fast. there are smarter posts and articles talking about this, but my point here is that marius "believes SO MUCH in art and art's capability to make a difference" von hagen would HATE THIS SO MUCH and, through spite, get into a lot of indie medias that dont necessarily sell. smaller movies, tv shows that got cancelled way before they should have.

oh, hey, MARIUS WAS 12 YEARS OLD IN 2021, yeah he could have watched The Owl House and threw a fucking FIT when disne/y nerfed the show's third season. he has not forgiven and he has not forgotten.

regardless of his age, marius, at some point in his teens watches Vincent and the Doctor (s5 e10 from Doctor Who). for those who dont know this episode, it involves Vincent Van Gogh and a bunch of sci-fi stuff but, at the end, a scene where Van Gogh is taken to the future and shown the impact his art has made on people. please watch it, if you havent it, it's very good and no words can do the experience justice.

Omg i actually /don’t/ get a lot of these -- you might be one of the first messages i’ve gotten on tumblr about this fic so thank you so so much!! this made my day, honestly. if you feel comfortable coming off anon definitely say hi, I’d love to talk to you! i just checked and i have 3 more chapters before finishing the season 2 outline -- 2 actual season episode tags, and 1 from the s3 1st ep which probably would be a solid place to finish up, right? i’ve made the promise to finish this fic for ... literally 3 years now so im not going to be a fool and promise again  BUT i did just open the doc in god knows how long so :) 

in the entirely likely scenario that this update takes forever to happen here are the planned installments: 

sabotage: jake’s perspective, amy freaks out about jake almost dying, feels guilty about not believing him, her role in his almost death. amy stays the night on his couch. my original notes have them reading childrens books but my original note are from the year of our lord 2016, and january of 2016 at that so it literally was a whole different world back then. if i remember i was running out of ideas for things for them to do within each installment so if u have an idea of how they can process fear and guilt and what i assume is jake’s eventual acceptance of his hurt and fear then PLEASE HIT ME UP 

ac/dc: amy’s perspective, largely a freak out about him being in the hospital and again almost dying. my notes here have amy taking jake to her childhood home and installing him in her childhood bedroom so that he can recover. Or, they say, she just moves in for a little bit into his apartment. i think maybe i can just have her take him to her actual apartment instead of her her home in new jersey especially since my amy’s parents are v different than the show’s amy’s parents now lol. again, suggestions would be LOVELY

thank you so much again -- you have no idea how much it means to me that anyone reads anything i’ve written, particularly people who arent forced into reading my fic because they’re my friends and i send links to them in a desperate plea for attention. i’ve always planned on finishing these 3/4 last chapters, even if ... it doesnt seem like it... and i want to thank you for reminding me that people do care about seeing the end of this DEEPLY cannon balled fic from 3 years ago. i mostly wrote it for myself during a time where i needed an outlet for what i was feeling and i’ve obviously HEAVILY self projected onto poor jake and amy but i am always humbled and deeply moved by the responses from people who also see themselves in my versions of these two characters. if i havent posted anything in a month, or even in 2 weeks, feel free to come find me and ask for an update. i promise i won’t be offended, i just forget easily and lose track of what exactly im supposed to be doing.

Getting away of a one-side love relationship was really a big choice i should have made before but it's really scary to do so. Red is honestly one of my favorites too. It was so easy to write (compared to apt) hahaha and although Sehun wasn’t a good character in it, I enjoyed the progression of how real the characters were? Like---this happens in real life and not all things end happily with rainbows and butterflies. It is a struggle to see a person go through something like this but it’s also a testament to their character and their willpower to walk away from it and say when they’ve had enough. I hope you’re doing well, anon.
