Hello! I was wondering, is it an illustration only zine or are comics allowed too? Also what is the charity the profit will go to? Will the contributors get a free copy? aaaand I think that's all, thanks for your answers ♥
Hi there!
There’ll be illustrations, short comics and fanfiction in the zine!
The charity we’ve chosen is The Trevor Project - an organization helping LGBT youth.
And yeah, the contributors will get a free (physical and digital) copy!

for the writing prompt, 2 or 10 with sormik ? :3
This was delightful. Thank you for this prompt
#10. “We’re both YouTubers who lurk on each other’s channels because we’re in somewhat different fields, but apparently we’re similar enough to get a panel together at a con.”
“You said you watch each other’s channels,” a woman in the audience says. “I wanted to know how you feel about meeting in real life.”
Sorey answers first, bringing the microphone to his lips. “Well, for starters he’s even more charming in person.”
The woman grins, and the audience around her laughs. Mikleo smacks him lightly on the arm, smiling mischievously.
“I was surprised, actually,” he says. “The last thing I watched with him was the letsplay of Outlast II. It turns out his voice is a lot deeper in person.”
It is difficult not to get a little bit starstruck. It really is.
The first day of the con, Sorey was running all around the campus trying to sort out all the logistics of his schedule and the panels he has been brought in to do. It was far too hectic for him to think about the important aspect that is meeting with Mikleo before the panel starts. As a result, it has not really seemed real to him, the fact that they will be sitting here together, answering questions.
A short email chain between them has sorted out their joint planning. It is the only communication they have had so far. Somehow, he has gone through seven drafts for each email when the longest they got was “So we’ll meet up at the stage just before, yeah?”. The temptation to show just how nervous he is about this was strong, but he somehow remained professional. Clear and to the point.
It is now, when he stands off stage and watches as Mikleo comes into the room with two friends in tow, that all eloquence he might have had leaves him.
He knows Mikleo’s show well. It is a charming mishmash video game reviews and pop culture, with a focus on writing and popular trends. Mikleo can talk for hours about worldbuilding and integral setting, and Sorey can watch him for just as long. It does not make it worse that Mikleo is nothing short of gorgeous, with long hair and bright violet eyes. His voice is low and soothing.
Sometimes Sorey puts on one of his videos just to have something nice in the background when he does other things. He has drawn Mikleo a number of times with one of his videos on. He has not posted the drawings, or shown them in his videos, as it would seem out of the blue. They have never spoken to each other before the beginning of their planning email chain.
Sometimes he has to pause the videos to get a good angle at Mikleo’s face. Mikleo gets very animated with his analysis, and he gestures to and fro as little animations appear on the screen beside him. It is endearing, and Sorey has a hard time looking away.
He never said having Mikleo on in the background helped his productivity.
Now he watches in fascination as this mythical man walks towards him. It almost does not seem real. In person, Mikleo looks even more impressive. His curls fall all around his face, spilling over his shoulders. He has foregone the ponytail today, and the result is short circuiting Sorey just a little bit. He did not realise how long Mikleo’s hair actually is.
He is talking to two other people, only one of which Sorey recognises. Eizen has made an appearance or two in Mikleo’s videos, warmly credited for camera work and lighting. The girl must be his little sister then, Edna. She helps Mikleo with his background sets and his writing, according to Mikleo’s lovingly crafted credits at the end of each video. Both of the siblings notice Sorey before MIkleo, who is looking a tad frazzled in a way that Sorey can empathise with.
Mikleo turns at Edna’s nudging and finally sees Sorey. Their eyes meet, and Mikleo’s eyes widen. He stops for a moment, in which all they can really do is stare at each other. Eizen turns his head, and Sorey can see the beginning of a smile on his face. Neither of the siblings seem surprised at this reaction.
Once the moment passes, Edna elbows Mikleo in the hip.
“We’ll be in the audience waiting,” she says. “Don’t choke.”
Eizen gives him a friendly, yet heavy pat on the shoulder. His expression does not change as he mutters, “Go get ‘em tiger.”
The two siblings excuse themselves and disappear behind the curtains. Mikleo opens his mouth, seems to struggle for something to say.
Sorey gathers himself first. “Um, hi.” He hesitates. “Yes, hello.”
“Hi,” Mikleo says, his mouth drawing into a sheepish smile. “Hello, I’m-I’m Mikleo.”
I know, he forcibly doesn’t say. “Yes I can see that.”
That’s even worse. He reaches out to offer his hand to shake. Mikleo takes it. He is wearing a sleeveless top with bracelets on his arms, some of which Sorey recognise. Most are in shades of purple, white, or blue, but there is also the bright orange of a wearable convention ticket. It looks gaudy and out of place among the other cooler shades.
“I’m Sorey,” he says. Mikleo nods quickly.
“Yes, I know.” He says it, and then briefly closes his eyes, regret clear on his face. “I-I watch your channel sometimes.”
It should not come as the huge surprise that it is. On some level, it was always a possibility, but the thought of this man watching Sorey’s silly playthroughs of games he has skewered and lauded alike is alien to him.
“That’s,” he shakes his head in disbelief. “That’s great. I’m really flattered. Thank you.”
Mikleo’s eyes drift down to his hands. “I’m glad you think so. I didn’t want to creep you out.”
The smile on Sorey’s face grows without his permission.
“I’m also kind of relieved. It makes my lurking on your channel less awkward.”
When Mikleo looks up, he is equally surprised. Then he looks amused.
“No way.”
It very effectively breaks the ice between them. In another moment, they are laughing together as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
“I’m actually a little surprised,” Mikleo says. “You’re a lot different in person.”
“All good I hope,” Sorey says, grinning. Mikleo nods.
“All of it. You’re-” he only stops for a beat, to his credit. “You’re beautiful.”
That brings Sorey up short. He stops, blinks. Then, unable to stop it, he laughs.
“What?” Mikleo asks, shifting on his feet. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, nothing,” Sorey waves one hand, snickering into the other. “Just the irony of it all.”
***
The panel goes well. It gets a little awkward in places.
Sorey laughs along with the crowd. Mikleo is smirking as the microphone gets passed to another woman.
“Hi, I’m Donna.” They greet her warmly together, which makes her shift self consciously on her feet. “I was wondering, is there anything you particularly like about each other?”
Sorey taps his fingers nervously on his thighs. He searches his memory for something that is not Mikleo’s looks or his velvet-smooth voice when he speaks. At the moment, all other aspects of his channel seem to have left Sorey’s head, given that they are the only two aspects currently near him. Now when Mikleo talks, Sorey can hardly listen for the view he makes on stage.
“Oh, you know,” he says quickly. “He just does such great analysis. If it wasn’t for his video on Amnesia level building, I would never have played that extra story with Nyancat.”
Laughter breezes through the crowd. Mikleo looks at him in amused surprise.
“Really? That was me?” He sounds flattered, even as the microphone distorts his voice in the large room. Sorey grins, shrugging his shoulders.
Mikleo turns to the crowd, smile still in place.
“I like the way he sings when he gets nervous.”
Sorey blinks. Scattered applause and a shout or two makes him even more embarrassed.
“What?” He laughs halfway through the word. Mikleo nods insistently.
“When you get into tense situations, you do this thing where you sing what you’re thinking.”
He does. He absolutely does, but he never exactly considered that to be the selling point of the production. This is both mortifying and oddly touching.
“Like when?” he asks before he can stop himself.
Mikleo answers right away. “When you were playing Outlast. The first one. You spent the whole basement level like,” and to Sorey’s and everyone else’s delight he actually sings. “Get me out of here, I don’t want to do this, who thought this was a good idea.”
Sorey decides then and there that he wants to hear Mikleo sing again sometime, no matter what it may cost him.
The microphone is once again passed around, and a now familiar face stands up.
“Yes, I have two questions,” Edna says sweetly.
The tone on the stage shifts just like that. Sorey smiles nervously, very aware of Mikleo’s hand tensing on the armrest next to him. Mikleo made sure to warn him that she might try something to embarrass them. The relationship is apparently very sibling-like off camera.
“Yes, I wanted to ask if there’s a possibility of the two of you doing a collab together.”
Her smile is angelic, except for her eyes. Sorey looks at Mikleo, uncertain of what to say.
Mikleo still looks a bit tense, but when he turns to Sorey his eyes are soft. He smiles, and that smile makes Sorey feel more special than all the subscribers and fans in the world.
“I would,” he says into the microphone. “What about you?”
There are already people cheering in the crowd. Sorey looks into Mikleo’s eyes, and something in his chest feels tight. He is so much more beautiful in person.
“I wouldn’t miss that chance for the world,” he says into his own microphone. Mikleo bites his lip, and the crowd flares up again in cheers and applause.
Once they calm down some, Edna speaks again.
“Now for my second question.”
They fix on her like laser lights. Mikleo makes as if to get out of his chair.
“Oh, it’s just one question per-”
“I have here a copy of the literary masterpiece Fifty Shades of Grey.” She pulls the book out of her bag as she speaks, waving it so that the crowd can see it. “I was wondering if you’d do your fans a favour and read a few lines to us.”
There is no chance of them saying anything. The crowd erupts in thunderous applause. People are squealing and shouting their way. In only a few moments, the chanting will start. She has them backed into a corner.
Sorey feels the laughter bubbling up. He looks at Mikleo, biting the inside of his cheek to keep it in.
Mikleo is rubbing the bridge of his nose. He looks at Sorey, and it seems the amusement is infectious.
“I knew she would do something like this,” he says, leaning in so Sorey can hear him over the noise. “I’m sorry about her.”
Sorey shakes his head. “Let’s do it.”
Mikleo looks equal part sheepish, mortified, and amused. “You sure?”
Sorey nods. He stands up and walks forward on the stage, bringing the microphone to his lips.
“Well, bring it here then,” he says, grinning when the noise starts up again.
As Edna approaches, he looks back at Mikleo. Red-faced and laughing, he covers his mouth with his hand and shakes his head at Sorey. Flushed in the warm yellow of the spotlights, he looks radiant.
When Edna tosses Sorey the book, he almost misses catching it.

(Writing prompts)
Ever so slowly I’m working through these remaining prompts. This one got a bit angsty so fair warning.
This one’s also a bit long for a drabble. Almost 900 words.
32. “I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.”
This far into their journey, hellions were hardly a challenge. These one those, hoards of bats and wolves kept the entire party on their toes. Between the ear splitting screeches and quick dashes even a single misstep could spell disaster. Mikleo was slowing down. Losing his focus even and perhaps that was the strain of everything they’d been bombarded with finally hitting him. He had been human. He and Sorey both came from this very village they now stood in. They had family beyond Elysia.
Now was not the time to be getting caught in these thoughts. In an attempt to regain his focus, Mikleo turned towards Sorey; gauging if he needed healing. That one moment of not watching his front had been a mistake.
A wolf had charged him, claws mid swipe. Mikleo hadn’t back stepped so much as played an impromptu game of limbo. His arms burned as he swung his staff in a crescent. Every ounce of his strength went into gaining enough distance to cast Twin Flow, and then immediately rush to Sorey’s side.
Lailah had landed the final hit and Mikleo swore he’d collapse there. They had to keep moving. At least until Sorey collapsed.
Sorey’s confession of having hardly slept the last couple nights roused worry from everyone, and after a quick debate, they settled on tucking themselves into on of the dilapidated houses. Mikleo pulled Sorey into a corner and ended up with Sorey laying in his lap. Meanwhile, the others stood outside keeping guard.
There was a small scratch across Sorey’s cheek that Mikleo had started tracing with his thumb until it vanished. By that time, Sorey gently snored.
Mikleo managed a small smile, relieved that he was asleep. Then his hand found Sorey’s shoulder and it took everything in him to not collapse into full body sobs. He hadn’t let himself think about all that had happened. What was about to happen. What Sorey was about to do.
He let out a shaky breath as he tucked a lock of hair behind Sorey’s ear. Every word he’d never had the gall to tell Sorey came rushing to the front. Three words he’d never needed to say danced on his tongue. But he wouldn’t let them escape. Surely Sorey knew how he felt, Mikleo only did every little thing possible to show it. Then there came the doubts. Did Mikleo actually feel this way, or could it be simple concern and caring?
Mikleo’s hand slip down Sorey shoulder, until against the curve of his side.
“Sorey…” A whisper. A check for consciousness. A start.
“I… I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.” Losing Sorey had always been an inevitability. Mikleo knew this, however, he never prepared for it to happen so soon.
“Mikleo.”
“You’re supposed to be asleep.” Mikleo meant to huff, not have his voice crack.
“I’ve always felt the same.” Slowly Sorey raised a hand towards Mikleo’s cheek.
As he leaned into the touch, shivering at the warmth, Mikleo mentally slapped himself for doubting his feelings. Although, this couldn’t be called love. He lacked a word, but he knew that whatever they had was something far stronger. He wanted nothing more than to be by Sorey’s side. To be Sorey’s support for as long as he was welcomed. He wasn’t ready to give that up.
That wasn’t his choice though, but he would still support Sorey through the decision he’d made.
Sorey sat up and pulled Mikleo against him.
There in that embrace, Mikleo shattered. Hearing confirmation that there had never been a misunderstanding in their relationship, that they stood on the same page, had pushed him over the edge. Beneath all the tears soaking Sorey’s chest, Mikleo hoarsely prayed and begged for Sorey to not leave.
Never did Sorey speak. He simply held Mikleo, stroked his hair, and let him pour every emotion into the continued embrace.
When the waterworks ran dry, Mikleo pulled back, although refused to leave Sorey’s arms. Their gazes met, Sorey managed a soft smile, but Mikleo couldn’t force one. In a still moment of them conversing with only eyes, they started leaning towards each other.
Coming closer, and closer. Sorey’s arms pulling Mikleo closer. How long had they both dreamed of this, neither could guess, and yet with only mere inches between them, Sorey ended up kissing Mikleo’s palm.
“I’m sorry… but this… feels like a goodbye. And I don’t want that.” Mikleo’s eyes fell to the side. He feared the disappointed look that would surely be on Sorey’s face. Then he felt Sorey’s lips push against his palm.
“Consider that a promise.”“A promise for?”
“A proper kiss when I’m back. If you want it that is.” Sorey went red towards the end. Mikleo took Sorey’s hand and placed a small kiss against a knuckle.
“Of course I’ll want it.” Sorey grinned before pulling Mikleo back against his chest, and shifting until both were comfortable enough that they could get in a quick nap before the party would wake them.

This year for the Sormik Winter Gift Exchange I pulled the extraordinarily talented @looveel-realm. From amazing creations like Little Mermaid AU Scuttle Zaveid, Knight and Angel AU, Voltron AU, AtLA AU and so many more deeply creative ideas, Looveel is an amazing member of the Sormik community that we are blessed to call one of us. I had fallen in love with their Fire Seraph Sorey design long ago, and took the opportunity to paint it for them.
Thank you for your amazing contributions.

@looveel-realm a réagi à votre billet: I wish I could participate to the zestiria zine...

I wish I can get better at traditional and just use everything x') (also enjoy pastel a lot)   And my creative process is a mess. Always? Even when I have a clear idea of what I want which is pretty rare.
Favorite Allura moment? can the moment in the trailer when Allura goes away and then the blue lion take down her barrier and Allura turns around count ? Because I really freaking love this moment for some reason, and I'm excited to see more in s3 !

001 | sormik obviously !
(For this ask meme!)
When I started shipping it, if I did:
I actually resisted shipping them when I started playing Zestiria - the cues were there, I could feel the narrative slapping me in the face with it, but I resisted it anyway.  Why?  Because it was the one thing I assumed would never actually happen.  I mean, an actual canonical mlm ship in my favorite JRPG series?  Come on, that was never going to happen.  Hell, I did the opening hours of the game with two of my friends who knew my shipping tendencies and even they were giving me the “Are you shipping them yet?” look.  Real Life happened and schedules weren’t lining up either, and I ended up starting up a playthrough on my own, and I still resisted it . . . although my will to resist was crumbling a little after that lovely inn skit where Sorey calls Mikleo a babe.
Then I saw the second epilogue, saw that look on Mikleo’s face, gave up and jumped in with both feet because damn it, if that isn’t the look of someone reuniting with their long lost lover I don’t know what is.  And I’m a sucker for it.
(Rest of the answer behind a cut because someone sent me an ask for an ask meme about my OTP and we all know I drop walls of text whenever that happens)
My Thoughts:
You got a glimpse of it above, but damn, like, they’re perfect partners in . . . everything?  They’re an amazing Battle Couple, they always have each other’s backs (emotionally and physically), like . . . they’re just perfectly matched for each other.  Yeah, they had an argument right at the start of the game, but every time I see it, I keep on thinking “they’re both talking at each other, but they’re having two totally separate conversations and not hearing what they’re both trying to say is ‘I want to protect you and keep you safe’“.  They’re just so good for each other, and that Bittersweet Ending there . . . it just kills me.
Also, just, how many OTPs can you actually say “Yeah, and they can Fusion Dance to fight together in combat too” about?  (Aside from Dragonball ones lol!)
What makes me happy about them:
Their reunion in the epilogue (so happy I cry every time I see that epilogue), them being able to Fusion Dance, Mikleo making Sorey all the snacks, Sorey gushing over Mikleo and (trying) to thank him, tickle fights, bantering while exploring, bantering while fighting, that whole sharing a body bit with Mikleo using Sorey as his vessel, that whole sharing a body bit while they’re armatized together, them fighting as a tag team together . . .
Am I allowed to just say everything?
What makes me sad about them:
That whole Sorey had to go to sleep for centuries to purify Maotelus bit.  Yeah, that bit.  Do I cry during the Journey’s End cut scene in Lastonbell every time?  Of course I do.  Also how they both agreed to Mercy Kill Gramps together during the final battle with Heldalf.  It’s like, damn it, I’m trying to focus on this whole Not Dying while fighting Heldalf, but I can’t see the attacks well enough past my tears.  Oh, and just how desperately Sorey calls out for Mikleo when he loses his resonance at Glaivend Basin the first time.  Yeah.  That too.
Oh, and for a more fandom-oriented bit, Tainted AU.  But it’s that good kind of pain where it’s like, yeah, they’re both tainted by malevolence, but they’re still together (assuming they didn’t fall because the other’s dead) so it’s like a tiny spot of hope amongst the horrible sadness?
Things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I don’t see it too often here in this fandom - and this may be because I’ve ducked out of fandom and fic writing for a couple of years so that I missed the change - but any time the writer tries to go in too much with the yaoi/BL seme/uke dynamics, especially with blushy, innocent, totally lovestruck uke bit.  It’s been an annoyance of mine in previous ships I write/read for, just because it feels completely out of character to me, and it’s been enough for me to stop reading a well reviewed fic and actually turned me off of ships in the past because of it.
And kind of a lesser one - Mikleo as being somehow unable to handle himself in a melee fight.  Like, I know the anime doesn’t help, since they keep on favoring Casterleo, and I’m sure his AI doesn’t really either (let’s face it, even I set his AI to Attack From Range/Survival First) but when I play as him, I’m mixing melee and magic, and if  AI Sorey needs healing, I just take advantage of the blue bar I’ve built up and armatize, lol.
Things I look for in fanfic:
The big one: Keeping both of them in character.  Yes, there’s definitely going to be changes to characterization because of AU differences, or story events.  But I should still feel like I’m reading a story Sorey and Mikleo at the end of the day, so I at least look for the core elements of their character and their relationship.
And signs of consent, especially if we’re talking about the kinkier nsfw fics.  (So to all of you writers and artists out there tagging your non/dub-con, thank you.  Helps with the whole “don’t like don’t read/see” bit if works are tagged appropriately.)
Who I’d be comfortable with them ending up with, if not each other:
You picked the one ship I don’t multiship to some degree or another, lol.  I usually have a few side ships for my OTP, but in this case, the only “side” ship (if you can even call it that in this case) is Tainted AU SoreMiku soooooo yeah.
My happily ever after for them:
Them exploring ruins and traveling the world together as a pair of Seraphim.  With their pure vessel being a gift from one to the other.  Or their wedding bands.  That works too.
Who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Sorey’s the big spoon to Mikleo’s little spoon.  And Mikleo wakes up most mornings to Sorey nuzzling his very very messy bedhead, and Sorey insists he doesn’t mind while making it worse.  Which leaves Mikleo grumbling about it, right up until Sorey grabs Mikleo’s favorite hairbrush and brushes out his hair.
What is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Can’t decide between actually exploring ruins or debating with each other in a match of wits over their theories about said ruins, lol.  They might be (effectively) immortal, and have seen a ton of history and probably wrote their fair share of books about more recent history, but it’s still their favorite past time.

looveel-realm a réagi à votre photo “thanks for the pain asteria”
what ? What what whaaaat ? I don't play asteria. Please explain Q.Q
In the last asteria arc, something went wrong and the whole world is progressively getting crystalized
The last chapter just got released and its when the squad finally fight van, right in front of the source of the crystalization

Everyone begs sorey and mik to destroy the thing and both strike the thing so hard they de-armatize and sorey is unconscious for a while
He wakes up to mikleo calling his name, and the flower starting to be break, so they decide to armatize once more and finish it in one strike
However mikleo starts to crystalize too, leaving sorey helpless, until *someone* appears before him, crystalizing him too

I love love love your exorcist!Sorey and Malak!Mikleo. This is totally awesome ! Do you think you could write more ? (like Sorey and Mikleo training maybe ? Mikleo helping Sorey to learn how to fight without his eye ) I'm sorry if you don't take request, I'm just really hyped for this AU and I hope you'll write more !
I’m glad you love it so much, and I totally take requests. (Here are the other parts of the AU: 1 - 2 - 3).
Fighting was easy. He had been raised training with a sword, first in his father’s house and then when he had entered the Abbey. People would have talked if the great Shepherd Heldalf’s son didn’t know his way around some kind of weapon. And, as an exorcist, his sword had been his lifeline against daemons, if only because he hadn’t been willing to risk his malakhim. But that had all been before.
Sorey stumbled to the side with a curse, just barely dodging the swoop of a winged hellion. He felt claws scrape across the right side of his face, Sorey leaning backwards to avoid a worse injury. He didn’t think it mattered that the right side of his face was more scratched up, but he supposed that it would keep him from being put on bed rest. He’d had enough for that after being saved from public display and becoming Mikleo’s vessel.
He glanced at the fountain of purple fog bubbling up from the center of the platform, waiting for the next hellions to appear. On the other side of the platform he could see Selene doing the same, the woman weighing the two, mismatched short swords that she had picked up in her hands.
Selene had been doing well against the hellions that were called up, which made him smile. At least one of them wasn’t struggling.
He shook his head, trying to focus on what would be coming out of the font next. It was hard with the glaring blank spot in half of his vision and the feeling of something dripping down the side of his face. He wanted to wipe the side of his face, but he wasn’t sure that he had the time. Besides, it wasn’t like blood dripping into his eye would make him more blind.
He tightened his grip on his sword, swaying in place as he tried to get himself in the right frame of mind.
It wasn’t like he was in any real danger, the others were waiting in case they needed to charge in to help, but this was first a foremost a training session for the two in their group least experienced in combat; Selene because she’d never received any training and him because he was having to adjust.
He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. There was no point in being miserable over what had happened, especially since he didn’t regret what he had done. Edna and Mikleo had deserved to be free, just like every other malak. It was just a matter of working around his handicap.
The font boiled, Sorey tensing as he waited for the next wave to come. It didn’t start immediately, Sorey swaying in place as he waited for something to happen.
He was so focused on the font that he didn’t notice Mikleo coming up on his left side. Sorey jumped when the malak brushed against him, turning his head to look at him. “What’s wrong? Is it too strong this close? Do you need to come inside?”
Mikleo stared at him for a moment, looking like he was on the edge of laughing, but the malak just shook his head. He reached up to touch the side of Sorey’s face, his hand cupped over the scratch the winged hellion had made. “You’re bleeding.”
“Yeah.” Sorey shivered as he felt the cold touch of water against his skin. It warmed quickly, sinking into him with the calm that he had come to associate with Mikleo’s healing artes.
It was like the pool that had been back at the palace in Loegres. He’d had plenty of time to sit at it and watch the fish swim since the king had always seemed to be calling Heldalf in to talk about the Exorcists, and they hadn’t needed him to tag along. It was rare that he had wanted to. It had felt much more peaceful to sit by the pond then to listen to whatever his father and the king had been planning.
He leaned into Mikleo’s touch, catching the smile that crossed Mikleo’s face. It was impossible not to smile back.
“Thank you.”
“Just be more careful.”
Sorey laughed. “I’m trying. It’s a bit more of an adjustment than I expected. I’m a bit slow.”
Mikleo frowned, dropping his hand away. “A bit slow will get you killed.”
Sorey opened his mouth to say something in his defense, but stopped when Mikleo reached out towards his right side. Sorey stood still as Mikleo waved his hand in his blind spot, watching the malak. He could see Mikleo’s shoulder and arm moving, but not his hand.
He didn’t know what Mikleo was looking for, but the twist in his lips said that he had found it and he wasn’t happy with it.
Mikleo pulled his hand back with a sigh, shooting a glance back at the font. It was still bubbling furiously.
Sorey swallowed and jerked his head back towards where the others were waiting. “You should get back unless you want to get caught up in the next bunch.”
Mikleo hummed before summoning his staff. He spun it in a lazy circle before setting one of the ends on the ground. “I think I will.”
“But-”
“You want to get used to this. I know.” Mikleo waved one hand dismissively. “But you forget, I have a vested interest in you.” A blush crossed his cheeks, Mikleo clearing his throat before looking away. “If we’re going to do this, then I think we’ll have to learn to move around each other. It’ll be better that way.”
“How?”
“We can watch each other’s backs. It’s mutually beneficial.”
The blush was still bright on Mikleo’s face and it made Sorey want to push further. But the font overflowed before Sorey could say anything.
Thick purple fog spewed into the sky before is started to creep back down towards the ground. Sorey could make out a few shapes in the fog, all of them twisting and turning before finally settling into something solid.
Sorey sighed when he saw more winged hellions form. He tipped his head up slightly, trying to adjust for his blind spot.
He jumped when he felt someone brush against his right side, Sorey about to turn his head when he saw the end of Mikleo’s staff enter his field of vision. He was tempted to turn his head to look at the malak, but he felt Mikleo bump against him.
“Eyes forward.”
“What?”
“We’re trying it my way this time. I’ll stay over here and guard your right.”
“But-”
“You’re in charge of the left. So no slacking off.”
Sorey could hear the laugh in Mikleo’s voice, Sorey chuckling as well. It wasn’t exactly what he had been going for, but he wasn’t going to complain. He wouldn’t try to talk Mikleo out of fighting, not when it was his choice. Besides, it was comforting to have someone he trusted watching his weaker side.
He smiled and watched as the winged hellions started their dives. “Don’t you slack off either.”
He got what could have been a laugh or a huff in response, Sorey not having the time to look. There were hellions to face.
Besides, he would be lying to himself if he thought that the presence of Mikleo by his side didn’t make him feel a little bit more confident.

I knew he was from Xillia, but I’ve not touched Xillia (it’s on the long list of Tales games I need to play/watch).
