let’s remove everything about the hyuga clan dynamics from this conversation for just a moment — can we talk about how scuffed it was that anyone from team kurenai had to fight anyone from team gai
#char chats#looking strictly at the genin era#let’s give shino his flowers here#all respect to him#we’ve seen neji vs bugs and neji won that one#(by fighting them all off individually and simultaneously. (which was a choice.) i digress.)#it stands to reason neji would beat shino#and we saw him best hinata#and kiba might think otherwise but neji *is* stronger than him#hinata doesn’t know how to do the rotation rn and there’s no guarantee she would choose to use that if idk tenten rained weapons down on her#and i solidly believe rock lee lands between neji and hinata in terms of taijutsu ability#kiba has the numbers on his side in any given 1v1 because it will always be a 2v1 in his favor#shoutout akamaru#if he can overwhelm his opponent physically he can win#it really comes down to if lee could get in a close enough range quickly enough to mess kiba up (i believe he could)#and/or if tenten could match kiba’s energy and overwhelm him with a torrent of weapons crashing down on him (a toss up tbh)#so let’s pretend kiba vs tenten is happening and they’ve both exhausted a lot of power.#tenten is down to her basic gear (if even) and akamaru has been benched for his safety (or is out of commission)#…it’s a taijutsu battle then. tenten is going to win.#shino could beat tenten if he could gross her out#otherwise she’s closing in her range (as would lee) and turning this into another taijutsu fight#naruto#team kurenai#team gai
