Ahh! Your commissioned art is always so amazing!! Would love some for mine with LIs, but afraid to ask for art of kisses or affection, never sure if that's out of the artist's comfort zone since my OCs are mlm/wlw.

This got really long and is probably waaaayyyy more info than you wanted. Sorry about that 😬

So I can only speak from my experience but as awkward as I get asking for things/poses sometimes I try and laugh it off. We are all ridiculous and awkward about something. And if I want art of my OC kissing the love of their life I’ll say to the artist, “so um, maybe they could ya know, kiss or something. Is that okay?” Or “I’d like some affectionate interaction such as [insert what]. Is that cool?”

Even if it be like this for some of my OC’s and their LI (Ava I’m lookin at you).

Anyway, back to the ask. So I’ll give some specific examples of what I’ve done.

For this art, I had something very specific in mind. I sent them Jason’s faceclaim and tattoo along with a physical description of him and a specific outfit. For Mason I sent my faceclaim, book description, and clothing colors I wanted. I also sent some links to art I’d previously gotten for reference. And the pose references that I was hoping for (Ignore the fact that I could not find anything other than hetero couples).

For this art, I only had a vague idea of what I wanted. I sent them Jason’s faceclaim, tattoo and clothing, along with a physical description and description of his personality. For Mason, I said I liked their Mason with a touch shorter hair. And then said I wanted something flirty with Jason being open to dishing out teasing as much of not more than Mason. Because he’s not shy about that.

I really just tell the artist what I was hoping for and give them references (or try to) and ask if they are okay with that. Always ask if they are alright with it. I think it’s just polite. If they say no that’s alright. Thank them and find another artist. Know that artists may say no and its probably going to be for every reason except taking issue with wlw or mlm content. It’s more likely to be because:

they aren’t comfortable with that type of romance;

they don’t feel they are good at drawing kisses (I’m not, it would be weird, no one wants that 😂 );

maybe they don’t feel they are good at drawing men or women;

any number of things.

And if (IF, don’t ask) they say it is because they don’t draw mlm or wlw content (and their reason has nothing to do with their proficiency at drawing men or women or kisses) that tells you a lot about them as an individual and if it were me, I’d not want any art from them. I’d not want my OC’s anywhere near their gross little hands.

All that being said, you can always go through an artists tags and get a feel for the type of content they create but you never know until you ask and if they say no, then thank them, and find a different artist. There are a lot of great artists out there that will happily take on affectionate art. 

Okay so I’m gonna miss a lot of artists here but hopefully others will add to it or artists will add on. Some artists I’ve worked with that I’ve seen create affectionate art are artwinsdraw, mooreaux, liquidxsin, lady-starfury, javsarts, isabeladraws, annasassiart, and delborovic

And if you want help commissioning I’m always willing to be the go between and embarrass myself for smoochy art.

(One note on nsfw art. Some artists accept those commissions but they will explicitly say so. On the reverse, there are some artists that will NOT take on those commissions and they will say so on their commission sheets or somewhere on their blog. So do your homework on that end.)

Worst hair/facial hair + outfit for Arthur?

imo,,, no outfit looks bad on arthur, like I feel like even fuckin awful outfits work for arthur cause theyre so bad theyre good,, except I rly dont like how the union suit looks on him,,, its like 4 sizes too small and them buttons about to pop,, but also I know some of yall like to get as much of that cowboy cleavage as you can and thats hella valid lmao

as for hair? now,, I like my arthur lookin neat and and clean so I generally keep his hair and beard short (about 2-4 for both), nd im not a fan of the long hair but sometimes it works for him ,,, straight up bald and extra clean shaven tho?? tha’s just 😬 yikes
