your footsteps are silent, running through the halls; his steps are clanky and armour-clad, leading the opposing-side straight to you. they have the advantage in numbers—you know that silver can’t combat them all.

malleus draconia ⇾ a loveless royal marriage

“happy anniversary, your excellency!” there’s cheers from all of those residing in the manor. malleus entwines his fingers with yours, squeezing it slightly, the affectionate gesture just enough to satisfy his grandmother and the other guests. once they are pleased with the act, he searches for some sort of joy in your eyes—but there is nothing. the people were congratulating a sham.

malleus doesn’t dare to look at you for too long, because it’s plain to see you’re devoid of life. you don’t love him. he knows you don’t love him. this arrangement killed the person he fell in love with years ago. he can’t recall the last time he’s heard you laugh genuinely, doubling over with endearing crinkles in the corners of of eyes and hands on your knees to steady yourself—you were so carefree. he wishes he had gotten a portrait done so he could remind himself of what you used to be, and not what you are now.

there are so many guests, people you recognise and people you do not, bounding up to the two of you to give you gifts and blessings. you’re giving non-convincing smiles as you chatter, shaking hands and receiving hugs. you don’t want this. you don’t want to be here.

maybe malleus notices your discomfort, as his hand hovers over the midsection of your back. it never touches.

he knows you are not happy. that’s why he pretends to not see the absence of a wedding band on your left-finger, the love letters addressed to another prince, and your hushed preparations at midnight to run away. (it’s ludicrous how the closer you get to leaving him, the more lively you become. you are coming back, you are blooming, but not under his touch—under somebody else’s.)

perhaps your new lover is louder, brighter and sunnier, all attributes he lacks. perhaps he should stop looking for excuses to help him loathe himself less. you and malleus were just not made for each other, and that was that.

sebek zigvolt ⇾ a royal rivalry

“why aren’t you dancing? can’t you find a suitor? or did you fail your ballroom lessons? how pitiable. did you not pay attention? in my family--” sebek cocks a brow haughtily as though his mouth wasn’t half-stuffed with sweets. in spite of his discourtesy, he still carried an incorrigible regal air about himself. you grit your teeth. “do you ever shut up? nobody has asked me yet..”

sebek has been your rival since birth—the bane of your existence. both of your kingdoms are close allies, meaning you’re plagued by his endless chatter more than you’d like to be. everything is always has to be a competition between you both—he never misses a chance to remind you of his ‘fae descended’ bloodline that somehow makes him superior to you.

usually, you expect him to yell as soon as he sees you, but he’s oddly quiet. after your last exchange of words, green irises train on those participating in ongoing slow-dance, and then on you. he seems to be insinuating something, but you’re not sure what he wants out of you; you wonder if he’s sizing you up, or comparing heights.

when he instead leans forwards and extends his hand, your breath hitches. what in the world is he doing?! you feel eyes burn into your back—people were staring! you shoot him a quizzical look, but his expression is stiff, slightly rosy, focused on you only. his hand waits for you to take it. “well i-i suppose i can spare the likes of you a dance.”

you scowl—but even as you do, you put your hand in his. if you weren’t in such utter shock, you’d laugh at the audacity of him of all people being your partner for the night. you’re suddenly picking up on things you’ve never noticed about him before: the green embellishments on his suit compliment his hair well… and oh, he does look better with his hair down, and…

he was your enemy, so why did he suddenly seem so… charming?

you’d spend every night before lilia arrived sleepless, waiting upon his arrival. his songs were ballads of worlds you never got to see, and never would be able to experience. you would hang onto his every word, head rested on his laps as he sung away. you’d be scolded for getting too close by others, but he didn’t seem to mind… so again, you’re quick to rush to his side today, keeping an amiable distance in front of your guards.

his voice is spirituous and unlike anything you’d ever heard before, laced with a certain edge you couldn’t get enough of; you’re certain he must be a wizard enchanting you. how else could you have fallen so fast? was it his eloquence, or his youthfulness that contrasts his extensive historical knowledge, or his archaic way of attempting to court you? you supposed it didn’t matter. all you knew was that your entire being was entranced by this strange fleeting sensation.

you sneak him away from prying eyes as soon as you can, and he teases you: “aren’t you greedy, wanting me all to yourself?” taking your hand and pressing chaste kisses to the back of it. the thrill of trying to not get caught spurs him on, and the sheepish look on your face and tremor of your stuttering as he renders you speechless is a plus.

you have been unsure of yourself your whole life, not knowing if the roadmap you had laid out for you was the one you truly desired—but this was the one thing you’re certain about. you must see this man again. (even if it means going against orders and sneaking out, even if it brings your family shame, even if you find out you’re not special to him in the end.)

when you tell him such, he throws his head back in a fit of giggles. you truly believe he embodies temptation, drawing you inwards—you can’t resist it!! he thinks you’re so cute, with your bashful expression and all, as he taps your nose thrice and pinches your cheek with gleeful adoration.

Harry loved love. He loved emotions.

While heartbreak was nasty, he was a firm believer that “a heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved.”

While his love life history had many well-known people, to fall in love with someone who worked a job so different from his world, who also happened to be a fan of his, was something Harry was continuously in awe of.

You were a happy accident, as Harry would like to call your encounter. A wrong turn taken while he ran in the morning ended up with him harshly bumping shoulders with you as you walked down the pavement, making you drop your tote back and for the Harry’s self-titled album vinyl record to make an appearance.

You were excited, in awe, and completely enamoured by the man you have been supporting for years and listening to, telling him about how his debut album was “more than amazing” and having a heartfelt conversation that had made Harry’s entire week.

Before either of you knew it, you had been talking for well over 30 minutes; a conversation that was deeper than the ones Harry, and yourself, had with the closest people around you that it was bewildering that out of all people, you would have that conversation with someone you looked up to and for Harry, a fan he hadn’t seen nor heard of until that day years ago.

If you were to ask him how it happened, he wouldn’t give you any direct answer; not because he was a private person, but because he was unsure.

Sure, it might be cliché to say that “fate wanted the both of you to happen” but it was a cliché for a reason – it happened before, and it keeps happening, and it was exactly what happened with you and Harry.

Being a fan meant many things; sure, you get to show off his merch anywhere you go, and sure you get to enjoy his talent and presence live in more ways than others, but it also meant genuine, hyper excitement over his new work.

His second album was a blast, and you were glad that you were a part of the journey of the making, having had cried a little when Harry sat you down one night and told you that you were the inspiration and muse behind his love songs on Fine Line, to the point where he even briefly included you in his Watermelon Sugar music video.

“You sure you don’t want to join? Will miss you.” Harry mumbled one day against your hair as you had your arms wrapped around one another in a hug while he stood by the door of his (well technically, your shared) private Italian house.

He was leaving for the sole purpose of your trip; film Golden, and while he wanted you to join the filming, your decision was set.

“Stop pouting,” you chuckled at him, “I don’t want to see anything before it’s premiered.”

He couldn’t hide the smile on his face at the reminder, fully knowing that you wanted to embrace the fan part in you and if it meant sitting at the house for hours while he goes to film, then so be it.

“You’re stubborn.”

“I’m loyal.” You corrected him with a teasing tone before pulling your face away to look at him, “You’re going to be late.”

He hummed, leaning to kiss your lips. After one kiss and 3 pecks, Harry let out a sigh of contentment. “You’re right.” Another peck before he let you go, grabbing his bag, “I marinated the chicken last night while you were sleeping, just pop it in the oven when you’re hungry.”

“You’re an angel, you know that?”

“So I’ve been told.”

Now, September was over, you were in LA accompanying Harry while he started filming Don’t Worry Darling for a few days, and out of all days, you happened to be with him on the day when Golden’s music video was getting released.

You had known when the fans did, having had told Harry that you didn’t want to know beforehand as well and that made him itch for a while.

So there you were, sitting outside in the backyard with Harry’s pink MacBook on the table in front of you, the screen showing you the countdown.

To mask his worry and nerves, Harry had you seated on his lap, arms around your stomach while you had your hands clutched together in eagerness underneath your chin.

“Baby, j-”

“Hush! It’s starting!” You instantly cut him off, causing Harry to laugh.

Harry had his phone perched against the metal vase on the table, camera opened and showing the both of you to catch your reaction – a keepsake for Harry for when he was away for too long and just because he enjoyed watching you supporting him, all eager.

With the first scene and music sounding, you let out a tiny squeal, covering your mouth as your wide eyes were set on the laptop.

Harry knew the video well, he didn’t need to watch himself again and besides, he had a better view anyway.

You were seated on his lap slightly sideways, making him catch sight of your face as you smiled genuinely while watching, eyes twinkling before you cupped your own face.

“You look so happy,” you cooed softly, your heart fluttering at the sight of your boyfriend looking so carefree, “I’m so proud of you.”

He refrained from replying, knowing that your commentary didn’t need any comments from him and that you’d scold him if he talked, so he pressed his cheek against your back for a second before looking up at you and beaming.

“Oh my God, you look so good!” You gasped as you exclaimed, “Are you kidding me?! How can this be so hot and cute at the same time?!” You pointed at the screen after the shot of him crouching in shorts while on a rock, arms up as he shook his head while singing “I’m out of my head and I know that you’re scared because hearts get broken.”

He giggled, watching you place a hand to your heart as you watched him dance, being so…himself.

“All that running,” you shook your head, “No wonder your thighs almost crush me when we’re sleeping.”

“I don’t crush you.”

“Hush! I don’t want to miss- I don’t wanna be alone. You’re so golden! You’re so golden,” you sang loudly, swaying as you did and throwing your arms up, “You’re so goldeeen. I’m out of my head, and I know that you’re scared because hearts get broken! Awwwwwh, you know I love it when you have your hand on your cheek like that,” you feigned crying, “That nail polish, too. Kill me!”

No matter how many times Harry has watched you react to his work, he knew that there was no way he’d ever get bored of it.

The video came to an end, your eyes not leaving the screen for a moment.

“Am I allowed to talk now?” He teased, tilting his body slightly to the side to look at you better.

“Yes,” you breathed out, “You’re allowed to do whatever that you want because this,” you pointed at the laptop, “Was the best thing I have seen all damn year.”

“You like it?”

“Like?” Your eyes widened as you looked at him, looking offended, “Like?! How dare y- I love it! I love it so much, H! You, looking all happy, prancing and doing goofy dance moves like that, with a tan and your hair, don’t get me started on your hair. I’m still mad you had to cut it. You look beautiful anyway but your hair in that video? You know what that is?”

Harry, amusingly, grinned at you, “What?”

“Art! Your hair is art! I’d watch you dance and going wild in swimming shorts any day, any time. Just say the word and I’m free.”

He laughed, face heating up and veins making an appearance as he did. “But was it worth the wait?”

“Oh, hell yes.” You nodded slowly, “I don’t feel bad about deciding not to join the filming.”

Harry smiled, “Come here.”

Knowing what he meant, you wrapped an arm around his shoulders before capturing his puckered lips in a kiss.

“Harry?”

“Hm?”

“You’ve just killed millions of people with that video.”

“Are you dead?”

“Just about right.”

A Vmin throwback - 2019 (Part 1)

3 years I have been making this post now, and every year people keep saying Vmin is dead, less close or even fake. I usually say: Do you have eyes? 

Vmin surely proved you wrong this time and I think at this point their bond is hard to deny. This post has been really difficult to make, both because of the amount of moments and also because it’s more difficult to find good gifs for everything and I can’t include twitter videos in this type of post. Just know there was a lot of moments I had to skip.

2019 was the year of the pig, aka. the year of everyone born 1995. So in this year of Vmin of course they have given us plenty of moments to gush about. In fact despite the break we have gotten spoiled with a lot of really great Vmin moments. So without much further ado let’s get this started!

There is a lot more Vmin under the cut. You have been warned.

I will cheat a little and start with Taehyung’s birthday bomb, which wasn’t released until 2019. Vmin were very cute in it.

The first time I saw this I couldn’t believe it. Who looks at someone like that while they are feeding them?

The year started of with a lot of good Vmin selcas, but even though we might not have gotten many tweets in total what we did get was still great!

And don’t you all dare forget that Jimin posted this the day after Valentines!

Then admittedly we had nothing in terms of selcas for almost the rest of the year, but thankfully Jimin came through and tweeted for Taehyung’s birthday.

Something big they did this year was of course making songs! Jimin released Promise right at the end of 2018 and Tae (the best photographer) provided the cover photos.

One month later Tae released Scenery. But not without Jimin accidentally spoiling it first.

He was very apologetic about it.

They both supported each other a lot and gave us a lot of cute moments in relations to their songs.

Jimin even sang Scenery and basically just promoted and loved it a lot. But even that was nothing compared to what was to come... I am talking about Winter Bear of course, which Jimin loves so much and has promoted more than anything ever before.

He did three vlives in a row where he gushed about the song and promoted it, and even told us stories about him and Taehyung. 

He also mentioned how he wanted to keep the song and his friend (Taehyung) to himself. The name of the first Vlive was even Say hello to me, a line from the song. Basically Jimin is both supportive and possessive in regards to Taehyung.

He sang it constantly and told us he listened to it every night falling asleep to it and even dreaming about it. 

True love and support right there! He also gifted Tae the two bears he used on the cover.

Movin on let’s look at the Run episodes of this year, because as usual they provided us with tons of Vmin moments.

It’s actually kind of overwhelming so I had to skip a lot because right off the bat they just...

First Run episode of the year and we already were in for a great start! And who knew we would get to see Vmin hold hands for minutes? I mean, Vmin seems to just have glued their hands together this year.

Stick to my side might as well be the Vmin slogan of the year. :P

And Run just kept on giving…

Tae wants Jimin to be sexy. But not too sexy….

Of course they also took selcas we will never get to see…

And some we did get to see…

The Canada episodes truly blessed us.

We even got to see Vmin share a bed for the first (but not the last) time, even if I don’t have a pic included.

They don’t even have to be on the same team...

Or even win… They still somehow congratulate each other.

Wo do love Vmin on the same team though.

They have both just seemed really happy and carefree this year!

I don’t even know how many times Jimin has said I love you to Taehyung this year… But it’s a lot.

Actually we have seen Jimin trust Tae a little too much.

But let’s move on, because we have much more to go through. This year we actually got some really good vlive moment from Vmin (besides the ones for Winter Bear I mean.). It started with the Grammy vlive.

We had Vmin doing, something… In the Hobi birthday Vlive.

And not soon after we got the infamous Rkive Vlive. Showing us some of the weirdest Vmin behaviours yet.

The clinginess is a lot… I see why they might avoid Vlives alone, because they can’t even behave when they are with someone.

I already mentioned the Winter Bear vlives.

The year also ended well with some nice Vmin from Jin’s Bday Vlive.

We of course also had a comeback with Boy with Luv that Taehyung made sure to add some Vmin to right away.

And Vmin really made sure to make this their song. Love is nothing stronger...

We also can’t forget the Lights MV.

And then for the tour. Obviously we got a ton of Vmin moments.

Special shoutout to Hong Kong.

I mean tours are always good, but the amounts of hugs and happy Vmin.

Tae holding Jimin’s hand to comfort him in Brazil when Jimin was sick and couldn’t sing well.

We also got Tae comforting Jimin in London.

And with this sweet moment, that I was lucky enough to see live, let’s end this post. It’s too long anyways, and will likely crash for many of you. As you may know I started this post in late 2019 but had so much trouble making it as Tumblr didn’t want to save my changes. I tried to remake it several times and at some point just gave up.

Then, I realized that the post is too long anyway and I might as well just post what I had if it managed to save the end part. Meaning this text here. So basically all of this post except this ending part was written and put together years ago. I know it says part 1, but I am not sure there will be a part 2 considering the problem with long posts. Just know 2019 was a great year for Vmin (as every year is), and that I didn’t even get to include everything (note the absence of Bon Voyage for example).  But finally it is done! I am so glad it saved this part and the tags. T_T

Hi I’m a new atiny and I’m excited about my first comeback with them but I had a question? Maybe it’s dumb but is there like a storyline to their MVs? I still haven’t watched all of them but I was wondering what the hourglass meant that’s all over this comeback. Anyway thank you very much, I’m sorry if this is weird

hi !! first off, welcome :D how are you liking ateez so far? any favorite boys yet? i hope all the pre-comeback activities are hyping you up!! ALSO, that isn't a dumb question i promise !! yes, they do have a storyline! it comes with a lot of theories since they won’t explicitly tell us & it also spans across A LOT of their content. like mvs, albums, lyrics, vcrs, shows, etc. i’ll put my own thoughts under the read more because it’s a lot. i also can’t explain the hourglass without telling you about their story too. 

to me, the ateez storyline has pretty general themes in regards to good vs evil.. rebellion vs control.. multiverses/timelines/time travel. i’ll be going through this per era (treasure & fever) !! i’ll try to focus primarily on their mvs, but i’ll mention some things from their albums and some vcrs for their comebacks.

TREASURE ERA (EP.1-5): 

pirate king/treasure mv doesn’t have too much story to it. these two mvs are mainly just introductions to them and their story. esp with the very iconic lines “will you be my friend?” and in the intro track on the album right before pirate king, “will you join us?” they sing a lot about their ambitions and the future. it’s safe to believe that this is the good ateez. 

say my name is our first glance at the bad ateez (or who everyone calls halateez). in this mv, we can see that ateez are in distress. in a lot of their solo shots, they’re typically in not likable settings. yeosang is trapped in a glass box with a member of halateez staring him down. hongjoong is sat in a blue hallway with a lot of smoke. yunho is at a desk surrounded by papers & this is also where we first see the hourglass (or cromer). however, it’s just a prop for now. san is in a room surrounded by broken glass.. BUT only after he is seen staring at one of the members of halateez through it. in the big table scene, you can see them all working to find the answer to something.. which is very interesting to note that wooyoung is the only one to be seen in that room alone after an alarm seemingly makes all the other evacuate. WE ALSO get the first face-off between halateez and ateez. but they’re not directly face to face. they’re only seeing them through glass panels & we can see that ateez is very clearly defiant when it comes to them. we also see that when seonghwa is facing the halateez member alone, that it’s him. which could also showcase the time traveling aspect. as if halateez is jumping through the timelines to get to them. another interesting thing to note that in the last verse of the song, it switches off between ateez and halateez. this mv ends with the treasure instrumental & yeosang missing from the glass casing. 

in hala hala, it is primarily halateez. the members in this mv are seen in darker attire & makeup and more clean cut. i believe halateez is from a universe where they are the ones in charge & calling the shots. if not that, then a very organized and powerful rebellion group. hence the same outfits almost like a uniform. this mv isn’t much but halateez dancing.. HOWEVER, the ending is VERY interesting. all members snap their necks at the same time (hence the lyric ‘suicide squad’).. all members BUT wooyoung. he ultimately pretends to do it, but is the last one standing and wiping blood from his mouth while surrounded by all of the bodies.. and remember, wooyoung was the only one alone in the room all of ateez were in while they were working on documents. 

jumping to wave & illusion.. we can see that this is a pretty sudden change. however, it all still matches with their storyline very well. 

in illusion, the members are seen in bright and colorful clothing on a flying boat asleep. in this, they’re back to that adventuring pirate crew from the beginning. however, the lyrics show that they have... no idea who they are and where they are. it’s believed too that the lyrics are talking to someone. in the middle of all of their singing about how they found paradise and how they can just party it up now, there’s a repeated “let me free” which kind of seems.. out of place. if we’re having fun, why do we need to be let free? as the title entails, this is all an illusion. the hourglass is seen again along with a glass cube and a butterfly on a table. we also see a quick glance of a halateez mask on the globe. we can see mingi listening to a headset/tape player. they make it to an island that is very.. fake. a large compass.. a floating hourglass and just very desaturated colors. even the members lose saturation when they reach the ground. they eventually find.. a cave? it has a lot of drapes and tinfoil looking walls. for a split second, we see a member of halateez standing there. ateez then reaches a very smokey room with lights and flowers. they don’t look so happy anymore. it’s like the illusion is very much wearing off. also remember, they initially were looking for their paradise so for the illusion of one to be broken... hmm. this mv ends with the members running away towards a light & shots of them sleeping in wave play where it ends with a whispered “open your eyes”. 

in wave, the members are together once again on an island. just them this time. it’s very fun. but.. it’s almost like they were dropped there. i mean, sure it makes sense that san/yeosang/jongho wake up in a bed... but why is mingi waking up under a tree in the middle of nowhere? looking at the headset/tape player confused like it isnt his? why is seonghwa waking up in a pool and why is hongjoong waking up on the road? for the most part, they all wake up alone but they eventually find each other again. once they’re all together, we can see that ateez are suddenly the same carefree souls they were before. constantly talking about how there should be no worries. 

in wonderland, it’s kind of.. hard to distinguish if this is halateez or ateez. we can see a lot of power dynamics here. hongjoong raps about how he shouldn’t be doubted if they wanted to reach neverland/their utopia. i say this because he mentions being a child forever like peter; but also because of the illusion mv. it’s also pretty obvious that mingi holds a type of power here. he’s seen as the center of attention with the marching band like he’s the leader of a grand army. aside from that, i think there’s a bit of a rescue mission occurring? in all honesty, i do not know where san & jongho are within the storyline for this mv. however, we can see that yeosang & seonghwa are in the same tunnel.. but not together. the elevator shot in the beginning is believed to show them going through time and same with the tunnel. which makes sense when you look at the updated ateez logo and the way it looks like it has a lot of lines that meet into the middle. aside from that, we have yunho staring at a bunch of tvs albeit they’re playing nothing we can see. then we have wooyoung.. all chained up and alone. it looks like nobody’s coming to save him the way hwa came to save yeosang and san. perhaps because he had betrayed them in hala hala? the staircase is also pretty important. i dont know the exact piece but i know it’s similar to an art piece that shows an endless staircase and continuous loop.. perhaps a hint at a continuous cycle in the storylines? seeing as this wonderland mv has gone up in flames, it looks like the next plan of action has to be to cross that bridge seen earlier. believed to have been the bridge between dystopia & utopia. 

in the utopia mv, there isn’t a lot of crazy storyline? it’s believed that once ateez walk across that bridge and through the door, they’re in utopia... or so they think. it’s mainly a lot of dancing and pretty shots, but the reoccurrence of smoke-filled rooms leading to rooms of oversaturation is back. the answer vcr before this comeback also show a lot of story. we see halateez and ateez facing off together once again with essentially.. the same question. we’ve spent this whole time believing that ateez are the good guys and halateez are the bad guys... but what if that wasn’t the case? sure, we see them as such but is that who they really are? each respective party holds up a mirror to the other asking “are you evil?” / “are you good?”. cut to the iconic intro of san on his knees.. almost like he’s the one having this war? almost like he’s trying to figure out the answer himself about if he is good or evil. 

the answer mv starts with a man in a white suit looking at the destruction of what was left behind of ateez/halateez. the move of san tipping over an overflowing wine glass.. it’s also thought like he’s turning the hourglass as well as if to start their timer once again. mingi is talking about how he sees that the end is near, but hongjoong brings up how we should finish as strong as we started until we get what we desired. it looks like wooyoung is walking in snow.. or is it the sand of time? i mean.. the hourglass was just tipped over wasn’t it? yeosang is seen alone in a red desert surrounded by broken glass. almost like he’s alone with no way out? speaking of mirrors, it’s also possible that ateez uses mirrors to travel through dimensions. like how san was staring at a member of halateez instead of himself in say my name? well.. yunho is surrounded by mirrors but cant seem to see anything but himself. he’s pretty frustrated about that. wooyoung is also seen in a room of butterflies. butterflies typical have a positive meaning of change, hope, transformation. we then get the icONIC AS HELL SHOT of halateez and ateez face to face at last at the table. as a repeated line entails, they’re making a toast to something. perhaps they have finally come to terms with each other and what to do so that they could exist peacefully as one? but maybe ateez has already done so much to one timeline that another had to be ruined? either way, an agreement was made between both hongjoong’s. at the end of the mv, we are greeted by the man in the white suit again... perhaps it’s another time traveler who knows about what ateez & halateez had done and was trying to stop them. no one knows who that is in all honesty. it’s believed that it might be one of the members. 

FEVER ERA (EP 6-8): 

PHEW OKAY UHHH.. honestly.. i say it’s crucial to watch this diary film at the very least. it explains this timeline of events now. halateez makes a brief appearance to hongjoong and the hourglass is back. poor hongjoong is tasked with finding everyone to bring them together once again. seemingly.. a fallout between friends.. another broken timeline. i feel as though it’s pretty explanatory on each individual backstory, but there is a lot more in depth things. like seonghwa crossing the line and breaking the rules. the endless loop of staircases being represented with san on the escalators as he recounts having to leave his friends again.  they all have their individual things that grounds them whenever theyre feeling lost, but they also had each other. i’m assuming that ateez from the treasure era managed to mess up this timeline of ateez causing them to drive everyone away from each other.. which is why halateez tasked hongjoong with the control of time. i mean, an hourglass holds a specific amount of time but you can manipulate it by turning it before it’s done or choosing to turn it way after it has finished. ultimately, the diary film shows 8 friends who broke off into 8 different paths when they weren’t suppose to and now they’re trying to find each other once again. 

we can see this in the inception mv. a lot of their dreams were broken and so they’re lost without it. ultimately.. they are lost again without each other and their dreams. 

hm.. im not too sure about thanxx. we see a parallel shot of ateez holding the flag like in wonderland. we see the theme of defiance once again. this song talks a lot about how they’re choosing to move on their own path despite what anyone says because who knows themselves better than .. themself. in this mv, they tease their song the real, which they performed on kingdom. 

SPEAKING OF KINGDOM.... EVERY STAGE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THEIR STORYLINE. wave overtune showed the pirate route where something happened to hongjoong’s crew and he lost them all. similar to how hongjoong in inception/thanxx has lost them all. from the wonderland is showing WHAT happened to the crew, but this time they don’t lose. rhythm ta (the awakening of summer) has all of these past props (records, yeosang’s violin) being confiscated. this performance is inspired by money heist. AGAIN, we have the theme of government defiance. on the newspaper that wooyoung rips up, it shows that the govt had deemed halateez (Black Pirates) as terr0r1sts. initially, i was wondering if this is just a re-branded halateez but then i remembered.... ateez and halateez had that agreement. perhaps this is the original ateez and they’re doing their part of the deal in protecting halateez. which means stealing back all of the stuff that was stolen and removing evidence & calling for the people to turn against the govt. i see this as halateez turning ateez into a second version of them. especially because the stage ends with hongjoong punching the glass and retrieving the hourglass after putting on a halateez hat. 

in answer: ode to joy, it offers.. closure to the treasure era. kind of. we see yeosang in the glass case again looking at the man in white from answer. then it cuts to halateez seonghwa in the cage with yeosang & the two of them flipping the hourglass together. it’s like yunho tries to stop him, but is too late... which is when he starts facing off with the man in the white suit to distract him so that yeosang & halahwa can get away. we are once again greeted with halateez and ateez facing each other at the table directly mirroring each other. halasan is right behind him copying every move. i know.. yeosang’s bit has symbolism but i can’t remember.. but i know it’s suppose to be like he’s swimming? then during hongjoong’s part, we can see halateez assisting the members in each kingdom stage leading up to answer.. so it’s like showing that halateez (although not seen) has been orchestrating everything this whole time. 

this last bit is pretty major in the story. so it seen that san is praying in the middle of this entire fight.. and wooyoung tries stopping him. his efforts don’t work and san essentially sacrifices himself so that he could fight the man in the white suit alone. i feel like there are more.. perhaps.. 8? men in white suits given that san took down one, jongho was with another, and hongjoong was surrounded by them. it makes me believe that these white suits are again ateez from another timeline trying to stop them. halateez is giving ateez the crown.. as if passing off their power to them. but jongho throws it away instead of accepting it. at the end of all of this chaos.. ateez ultimately comes out on top and defeats both halateez and the white suits. 

OR SO THEY THOUGHT !! in the fireworks mv, they are seen in a dystopian society once again. if you remember, i had brought up smokey rooms often. reason being in the diary ver. of this album, there’s a part that goes into more detail about their story. i need to read into the theories for this era more but the smoke is very important. jongho recounts how he gets suffocated with a smoke that makes him see illusions and past events, but since it all feels so real it all just seems like DEJA VU.......... the dystopian society ateez are in for this mv... it’s smokey as hell. which is believed to be the smoke that causes such illusions but they’re able to break through it. i mean.. look at this teaser for the comeback.. looks way too colorful and peaceful. we don’t see this at all in the fireworks video.. SIKE. when ateez are walking around the dystopian wasteland (aka strictland), they’re in these nice suits. it’s almost like the effects of their illusion from the teaser was wearing off and they started waking up to the reality. and once they start seeing everything for what it is, they once again.. start creating havoc as they have in the past. this mv ends with the white suit man RETURNING ... and seeing the aftermaths of what ateez has done. he looks around as if he knows.. that it was them. 

in the dreamers mv.. again it has small symbolisms. jongho with the headphones (mingi’s headphones).. hongjoong with the small cube.. the spray cans like from halahala. but i dont know too much here. 

NOW.. WE HAVE DEJA VU AND ETERNAL SUNSHINE. we don’t have too much info on them right now since it hasnt been released.. bUT THE HOURGLASS IS BROKEN. the teaser they posted showed that the hourglass has been broken and essentially... all the timelines are broken. this leaves room for a lot of mixed up timelines. which is what people believe is the reason for the reoccurrence of similar hair colors from past eras on different members. we’re all getting deja vu from these repeated looks, no? eternal sunshine... it’s another super bright concept like illusion, thanxx, and celebrate. people are tying this to the movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (i actually like this movie). in the movie, the couple gets a medical procedure to have their memories erase from each other. perhaps like how ateez had forgotten about each other?.. but in the movie, the main guy is trying REEEEALLY hard to get her back. which causes a mess in the timelines of their memories. things start repeating with countless acts of DEJA VU and things that just do not seem real. which again.. lines up to their story. 

SIDENOTES: 

first off.. if you read all of this, i love you. i never have been so invested in a story like this before and it genuinely is such an amazing storyline. 

there’s plenty i missed. like.. i didnt even talk about fever road but they have a couple things in there that elaborate on their friendship and everything. i also remembered their mama stage?? im p sure that had plot but i never.. looked  into that one. and not EVERYTHING ateez releases is releated obv.. unless KJK is the man in the white suit but i doubt it. 

but yeah :D those were just my thoughts. if you read this far and have any other theories, plEASE SEND THEM. i think it’s so interesting and i love discussing things.

control — if you look at some of the choreos, mingi controls ateez with just a gesture of his hand a lot. so perhaps that's also story-related as well? like how i mentioned he had a type of power in wonderland? leader of an army? ateez also has this seoul music awards 2021 perf where they dance like puppets, but it’s not orderly.. they’re missing their puppet master & this performance was during mingi’s hiatus.. hmmm

okay in addition to all the shitposts i made about the album as i listened for the first time, i have so much i wanna say about each track so here we go, even if no one reads this i don’t mind because i’m just posting it for myself! this is 15% semi-professional-sounding album review talk and the other 85% is me freaking out lol

hot sauce: someone said this is zimzalabim’s brother and i can’t stop thinking about it, but unlike that song it honestly didn’t take multiple listens for me to like the song itself. the only thing that was the slightest bit off-putting about it was the higher pitch of the chanting (which i still don’t know if i’m imagining or not) but i don’t mind it as much as i used to. the beat is so interesting and funky and the latin-ish(?) sound of some parts suits them unexpectedly well :,) all the members’ voices are so distinct and i think they all got a chance to shine, like even without looking at the line distribution it just seems pretty even to me when i listen. okay now onto the mv i think it’s super cool and when i saw it for the first time it felt like there was a lot going on and it was a little overwhelming but i think that’s just because it was 5 in the morning and my senses were overwhelmed lol (like the lyrics say o_o (i think??)) also JISUNG’S DANCE BREAK I AM ON THE FLOOR. he sounded so good sjdfbds. renjun’s adlibs (in the final chorus especially) are really something else and his lil duet part with jisung in prechorus 2 is amazing showstopping never been done before etc etc. haechan’s high note and jeno’s and mark’s (side note i can’t believe we really have 7dream again :,)) and jaemin’s raps and chenle’s voice throughout the entire thing are just,,, perfection omg. overall i love this song so much and think it was a great title track for them!!

diggity: IT GOES SO HARD IT’S CRAZY. first of all here are some timestamps that make me lose my mind: 0:30 i swear the adlib sounds like mark but the video shows that it’s renjun and he sounds😳whew. and 2:48.....jisung.........i can’t do this............for maximum pain watch a clip of him talking from 2016/2017 and then listen to this part but warning you may cry. HE SOUNDS SO SKDFBL WHEN DID HIS VOICE GET SO DEEP🥲like i knew it was but this is just. another level lmao but anyways, the bridge in this song as a whole sounds amazing!!! i’m very much in love with really small moments like the little “na na na”s in mark’s rap and the way they sound, sorta minor in tone. also love how the beats build up to the chorus each time and i just wanna bop my head to it! it seems like i hear new little harmonies and adlibs every time i listen and it’s such a nice mix of vocals and strong raps :)

dive into you: the VIBES of this song??? i liked it from the teaser but as i listen more and more it gets even better it seems. like imagine a summer roadtrip to the coast because that’s what this sounds like.  mark and jisung really started things off with one of the catchiest raps i’ve ever heard and everything about it is so perfect😩jaemin and jeno singing >>>> and chenle chose violence with his high note and hearing all the harmonies from every single one of them makes me so happy :> they’re so beautiful like aaaaa. also i just love the minor-sounding notes (that’s a favorite thing of mine can you tell) in the chorus with the “you-ooh” parts. VOCALIST JENO AT 2:36 IS THE PRETTIEST THING I’VE EVER HEARD DO YOU HEAR HIS HARMONY. can’t forget vocalist jisung either, any time he sings i’m just🥰which has happened a lot this cb which is GREAT :DD and then on top of all that, the track video is adorable and they look so happy!! driver haechan doesn’t hurt either lmao AND THE PERFORMANCES OF IT ARE SO CUTE TOO LIKE HHHH

my youth: something about this song sounds so nostalgic and it’s going on my driving playlist because it just gives me such a carefree feeling, like being on the highway or driving through a city at sunset. it’s really chill and it’s one of the softer songs on this album so it balances out the harder-hitting tracks :) jaemin’s rap is so nice, reminds me of how much i love his voice :( i heard a clip of them singing this song live and it doesn’t sound the slightest bit different, it really shows all their singing talents🥺

rocket: omg definitely another favorite of mine on the album, it’s so upbeat and reminds me of dream run!!! also it’s moonshine produced so you know it’s going to be a total bop. for some reason it feels like something that would play on a rollercoaster if they had music, the scales and the synth make it sound really fun and it’s extremely enjoyable to listen to, makes me wanna dance around :) jaemin’s rap with the little star wars line is cute hehe. and chenle’s “level up” part, he sounds SO GOOD! from the bridge towards the end, that’s my favorite part, it’s such an energetic beat and, like, bouncy? i guess? that’s not the best word but i really really really love this track☺️☺️☺️

countdown (3,2,1) : besides the fact that mark decided to k word me with that “explOsive” line at the opening i love this one too! it sounds futuristic almost. i never knew how much i needed to hear jisung say “control freak” before this and his singing voice at 1:15 and 3:11 and 3:24 is just wOw—plus his RAP I’M NOT GONNA RECOVER FOR A WHILE😔🤭......also love the transitions from jaemin into mark and then jeno for that part in the bridge and the buildup it has to the final chorus. i think haechan’s and renjun’s voices sound so good on this track like at that softer part? aND HOLY HECK IS HYUCK THE ONE DOING THOSE ADLIBS TOWARDS THE END BECAUSE IF SO DAMN. yes boys you are very dangerous

anl: why couldn’t they have just called it all night long because everyone’s reading it wrong🤠this one is really chill and i think the way it sounds kinda matches the vibe of their boring ver. photos, if that makes sense. it’s also going on my driving playlist!! i don’t know what to call the little twinkling sounds at the start but i love those, and mark’s voice is so soothing in this song🥺something about the way renjun sings “sky high” is gorgeous and jisung’s parts with the harmonies are truly a blessing to the ears :] the chorus sounds so inherently dream and i feel like track itself has something mature about it? (not in that way geez) but like it just shows how far they’ve come music-wise/vocally

irreplaceable: except for mark’s one english line in the bridge (you know the one don’t make me type it) (but it doesn’t make me cringe quite as much anymore) i also adore this song☺️if this track had a video, i’d picture it looking something like the cafe 7dream content. it sounds really acoustic and warm and like they could just be casually singing it together in a cozy cafe or studio! also, i realized that it reminds me of another dream song when i hear it and i figured out that it’s bye my first hehe. HAECHAN’S HIGH NOTE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST PART, MARRY ME SIR.

be there for you: literally the renhyuckle ballad we’ve always wanted!!! i don’t even have that much to say because it’s just so beautiful, all three of their voices blend so well together and it’s such a comforting track. nct’s slower and softer songs like this are very distinct and have a gentle kind of power. listening to it feels like a hug and the harmonies and high notes and the extent of their vocal ranges are just so, so amazing.

rainbow: for all the times i’ve cried to it, i still love it :,) those first lyrics from chenle make me want to bawl my eyes out simply because his tone there is so nostalgic and pretty and sad-sounding, and reading the lyrics makes me even more emotional (or maybe i’m just overly sensitive oops). the softer raps and angelic vocals and every little harmony and adlib are EVERYTHING, this is another song that just suits the unit so well. regardless of their positions this track proves that every single member is beyond capable of being a vocalist. i don’t know why it seems like such a sad and nostalgic song to me, but it’s also really hopeful at the same time. it’s like this dreamscape of emotions (no pun intended), and the video is so otherworldly and enchanted it seems almost magical. the colors and the playground set? their expressions and interactions with one another? i swear, their friendship and bond is unlike any i’ve ever seen. this track also makes me think of how proud i am of them, and i wanna give them all the biggest hug in the world🥺

I don't know when it started, but whenever I hear this song now, it reminds me of Jimin.

I don't know for sure, but I think it's this playfulness in this song. It reminds you at first of a typical summer song, which simply spread cheerfulness and a good atmosphere and you want to sing along with it, until you notice the dirty lyrics for the first time.

And I think that's exactly the point why this song fits Jimin so well! At the beginning he always seems to be cute and maybe a little bit naïve, so you just want to take him into your arms and cuddle him. There is a reason why they call him little mochi...

And then he goes on stage and seems to be a complete different person. He knows exactly what a magical attraction he has, how to use his personal advantages to tease the shit out of Army.

For example I mean this cocky smile, his bodyrolls, the way he shows himself so freaking sensual and sexy.

He has so many different facets, all of them are so contrary. He's really like an exotic animal, like a chameleon. And that's what fascinated you so much about him and stole your heart.

How can he be so damn cute and then bang!, the next moment he gave you one of these dangerous dark looks, licking his sweet plush lips and if you're not careful enough, he'll have you pressed against the wall within seconds and you'll drown in his deep, passionate kiss.

Ok I’ll bite. Mini analysis of the Golden mv:

1. Running out of a dark tunnel (in which the other side is the woods?) into an open area with the sea nearby — him finally leaving a dark place in his life and emerging into happiness.

2. Running in white loose, oversized shirt and shorts — probably to characterize that he’s so ‘open’ as mentioned in the lyrics, he’s carefree. Also note that he’s in Rome, Italy — his white shirt kind of looks like Romeo, an Italian love ‘hero’. He’s chasing for the light — chasing for love.

3. “Golden” — symbolizes the sun, also the sun symbolizes light, which is a metaphor for love

4. Dancing in the light blue blazer — Golden is the sun, so the light blue blazer characterize the sky. Interesting that the blue blazer scenes have a sunset (or sunrise?) in the background. Matching color scheme to indicate the mood of the video. Dancing to indicate carefree-ness.

5. Various shirtless shots by the warm mediterrean ocean — also to characterize he’s so ‘open’ (yeah it’s pretty literal lolz)

a small review for album of the year

interlude: shadow- the extended version of shadow is amazing. the guitar and yoongi's voice is soothing and just perfect. i remember to only listening to this song the entire day when the mv dropped and the extended version is 10x better.

filter- jimin wants me dead and i respect that. he has such a unique voice, i love it so much. when he deepens his voice, i ascend. im happy jimin knows he's that bitch! probably my favorite on the album, next to UGH!

my time- omg jungkook's voice is so heavenly. it's sound like it has improved so much since the last comeback. i love how the song has a magical feel to it just like euphoria did!

louder than bombs- the beat is dark, beautiful and amazing. the lyrics are painful and it kinda adds to the songs beauty. also namjoon said fuck anti lives, we stan!

ON- soty. when i first heard the 30 sec preview i was already blown away. jimin started the song and i again ascend. i love this song so much(just like every song on this album). the dance break. the vocals. the rap. the titties. how they hug each others at the end. spectacular.

We are Bulletproof: the Eternal- it was NOT what i was expecting at all. i truly love these boys with my whole heart. they really got me crying over being bulletproof. im so glad they fought for their dream and have all of us to help them reach it. im happy they're no longer afraid and have achieved so much.

ON ft. Sia- although it was pretty hard to hear her, i think Sia was the right pick for this song. seeing how songs about rising up and fighting back are her thing, it's a very good pick. wish i could hear her a bit more tho.

Lights  Up MV Analysis

Just wanted to type out my thoughts on Harry's MV. I'm going to take into account both the lyrics and what I see in the MV so keep that in mind. Also I’ve never actually made an analysis on a music video and mainly have experience with written form analysis so please don’t expect this to be super detailed, but DO expect it to be a rambling mess. With that said I’ll start;

First, I'd like to point out there's a lot of abrupt changes between scenes, right off the bat, so I'll be talking about these throughout as I think its important.

So the first scene we see is of Harry, he seems a bit like he's trying to figure something out, I think this reinforced by the flashes of images we see to other scenes (the motorcycle mainly, but we also see the crowd, and a scene of him alone in a white shirt with smoke surrounding him). This can point to the direction of different perspectives, perhaps different versions of himself, a solid introduction to these different aspect.

 Next, He gets completely pulled into the crowd, the image of him alone with the smoke completely blacks him out and the lyrics start.

Here we are introduced to a new imagery of him in a very strong red lighting surrounded by water. I would like to note the motorcycle scene is also in this same red lighting. Red to my knowledge is used to evoke feelings in the viewer, it’s like a big “pay attention”, which I find intriguing, so we have two lightings; the very intense red color versus the I guess normal coloring.

We have two contrasting images of Harry in both situations;

Red: -Alone in the water seems like he’s searching for something, contemplating   -Where he rides in the motorcycle with an unknown person (if this person is representative of himself or someone/something else I’m not sure), here he seems more relaxed his back facing this unknown person trusting wherever they might take him 

Normal: -The crowd, where the main focus is on actions done by others yet also a strong center on him. He seems happy, silly and other times serious - Where he is alone and very obviously distressed, never does he seem relaxed, there is a nervous energy here

Ill use time stamps for this next one;

At 0:48 you get a shot of Harry almost like he is in disbelief and it appears he is looking at something/ someone specifically. Immediately afterwards you see two images flash, the one of him in the water and a blink and you miss it shot of a road with what i presume to be the motorcycle heading towards you, which then transitions back into the crowd. But this time he is not within the crowd but outside, where he looks back as if these memories/ different versions of himself are haunting him. Personally I would interpret this to mean that he is trying to enjoy himself in the moment, but keeps getting backtracked by those elements of himself. 

The lyrics in this part specifically are “It’d be so sweet” followed by, “if things stayed the same”, the scenes of the motorcycle, arms outstretched in a carefree manner, and him in the crowd again this time smiling, yet it fades as he turns to look back at the crowd. And immediately we come back with harry alone, distressed and seemingly in pain. Perhaps he knows things wont stay the same. I might be reading too much into it, but this part of the MV interested me the most as in combination with the lyrics it gives a lot of food for thought.

NOW my hands down favorite part of the MV comes next.

 At 0:58 the song changes (I’m sorry I’m not a music expert so idk what else to call it) and we catch light of harry alone in the water, this time on his knees looking to the sky as if pleading while the lyrics say “All the lights couldn’t put out the dark, running through my heart. Lights up and they know who you are” This seems like an inner monologue, which fits with the contemplative nature of this version of Harry.

What caught my attention though was the repeat of of “Know who you are”, simply because of how the 4 main scenes that alternate between each other, which makes me believe these are versions of himself or aspects of himself rather than memories. 

Then we end at “Do you know who you are?”, returning to Harry in the water( which at this point I think is his inner thoughts, but ending with Harry fully submerged in pink water, where he is wearing the clothes that distressed harry is wearing, water representing his psyche, getting emerged into his troubles. These thoughts are overwhelming him, which is why we see this version of him to be very distressed and now we know why.

At 1:18 we get another change in the song as well, a very brief flash of Harry quite literally stepping into the light and the lyrics “step into the light” begin right after showing him back in the crowd, no smiles just kind of there going with the flow of action, spotlights of light shining on him, while the lyrics state he’s “never going back”.

Then there is a repeat “step into the light”, where he is in the crowd, looks up at the light, and another shot of him smiling at 1:32 as the lyrics state “so bright sometimes” and the “I’m not ever going back” this time we only see the motorcycle; Interesting as the motorcycle seems to be heading somewhere, and Harry seems to have complete trust in this person (himself or otherwise). Basically he wants to keep going down that road and never look back, something to mention though is he has his back to this person. 

We hear the lyrics again alternating between harry in the crowd and Harry in lying in the water and the final focus of him smiling with the crowd in the background (1:46).

We then head back to the hook, where there are flashing images (There are a lot of these) of harry being suspended above something, ( which looks honestly very behind the scenes like) and we return to the motorcycle arms open, like he is free. Again the lyrics “Itd be so sweet if things stayed the same” alternating between the crowd and motorcycle, but ending at his distressed state.

The instrumental (2:05) focusing on all 4 main scenes, but I find the return to him being suspended above water (this time much less behind the scenes ), facing himself (his troubled self?) most notable. As well as the constant freedom he seems to emit while on the motorcycle and the very silly shot at the end (also very behind the scenes like, love it)

And then the very end, which focuses only on harry in the crowd and on the motorcycle. Constantly looking upwards in the crowd. While the motorcycle approaches a police car (authority?) yet passes right by it.

That was much longer than I thought and honestly don’t think people will read, but that’s how I viewed the music video and it feels nice to let out my thoughts. Again this might be wrong or far fetched, but it’s just what I could think of and none of my thoughts were super cohesive anyways.

Spoiler (Yoongi Scenario)

Pairing: Yoongi x reader

Genre: angst

Notes: This short scenario is loosely based off of Epik High’s MV “Spoiler.” Ever since I saw this MV four years ago I have wanted to write a short story based off of what happens and finally my brain has helped me find the words to express what I would like to say. Credit to BigHit for this picture of Yoongi during Wings era. 

Memories that were meant to stay buried came to life as Yoongi drove to his music studio. It seemed like every building that he drove by reminded him of you. The ghost of your smile haunted him as he caught a glimpse of the bright ice cream parlor that he would frequent with you. The beautiful sound of your carefree laughter made his heart skip a beat when he passed by your favorite food stand. And goosebumps prickled his skin as he thought of the touch of your hand when he drove by one of your favorite stores. There was one single thought that prevailed throughout his mind. He should have done better. 

He shouldn’t have brushed you away when all you wanted to do was be close to him. He shouldn’t have left you behind to take those countless calls that could have been dealt with at another time. He should have put you first. He shouldn’t have let you walk away. It was hubristic to think that you would back into his arms. 

The darkness of dusk descended on him as he put his car to a full stop at the red stoplight. His fingers were tightly gripping the steering wheel as he let his head hit hit the steering wheel. Yoongi felt stupid. How could he let his life get in the way of the person he loved most?

Pull yourself together, he told himself. Yoongi lifted his head and sighed. He watched as strangers made their way across the long crosswalk, taping his forefinger against the steering wheel as he waited for his turn. 

His gaze became focused and was painted with surprise as the familiar wave of your hair passed by among the strangers. His body didn’t give him a choice as he felt the corner of his lips tug upward. But as quickly as that smile came, it disappeared when Yoongi saw your arm wrapped another man’s arm. He swore that he could hear your laugh as you walked with what he assumed to be your new boyfriend. You looked so happy.

Although Yoongi wanted to look into your eyes, he hoped and prayed that you wouldn’t look at him. He didn’t want to see the smile that he loved to turn into a frown of disappointment, but unfortunately the fates were not on his side. As soon as you saw him, sadness and regret filled your expression. For a moment, Yoongi wondered if you missed him as much as he missed you, but none of that mattered as you turned to look at your boyfriend and continued to walk away from Yoongi. 

After you looked away from him, Yoongi felt tears well up in his eyes. It was the end of a story that he wished he could have kept forever.

another busy month for me, full of great dramas and music. let’s get it! (everyone better have read that in jae’s voice, hahaha)

way back home by shaun. this was in the background of one of lisa phan’s videos and i am so happy i read the description box to find this chill beat. this dude is seriously talented, and i found the acoustic version, and i am in love!

young by baekhyun and loco. what a match made in heaven? am i right or am i right? those vocals and the track are perfection. i thoroughly appreciate this collaboration, and everyone must give this a listen. 

we young by sehun and chanyeol. my boys, they came at us with this great carefree, upbeat, bop. i seriously love listening to this one at full volume while driving on the highway. i would recommend giving it a try. our boys were just so stinking cute in this mv, like just look at them. 

also the only choreo i could probably manage. p.s. need to insert both gifs for good measure. 

PLT. so i am super late to this train but for real. PLT is pretty great, and i cannot believe i have not heard of them before the other day. i love their retro vibes, and the tone of their voices. seriously golden. my faves thus far would be ‘hocus pocus’, ‘blah’, and ‘stay here’.

breaking down by day6. like seriously jyp needs to get better promo for my boys. this is seriously a bop and the mv is seriously some incredible next level editing skills, and i am obsessed with this old-school-rocker vibes that all their japanese music carries. i love the vocals, like dang jae coming right for me in the first verse. i love them. and 10 out of 10 would recommend!

different by WOODZ. “i need a cha cha beat boy” it always gets me, you know what eve is coming will slay your life. this is such a chill beat, and i absolutely 100% am obsessed with this song. 

dramas & movies. *spoiler alert*

meteor garden. like dang this one! i appreciated the boys over flowers remake however it made me come to the realization of how crazy i was when i first fell in love with kdramas. like seriously i found the main leads so attractive, but they were not attractive at all, they were dominant and never allowed the main lead to pick her own path. i am glad that shancai was a stronger female lead, however, there were moments when i was disappointed in her. there were precious moments between shancai and dao ming si which seemed to outnumber the negative ones, but seriously communication would have fixed the majority of their issues. except for his crazy mother, like seriously both were on the verge of death and they she kinda sort of came to senses. huazi lei i think personally was a lot better and kinder to her so he would have been a great match but you know dramaland. they seriously had such a precious friendship. there was a great balance of all the storylines, and i love the one between shancai and dao ming si’s friends super cute! overall i rate this drama a 8.7 out of 10. it was great and the visuals were great. and i love all the actors in this. 

my id is gangnam beauty. this was a great drama! i started writing all about in this rewind but it was too overwhelming so it has its own post right here! i rate it a 9.5 out of 10. and i would seriously recommend giving it a watch! 

romantic doctor kim. i had watch this one after seeing that my man yoo yeon-seok was in it. i just needed more of this dude after seeing him in ‘mr. sunshine’, and had to wait each week for more. overall it took me all month to watch it. there was a lot going on, and dang did things happen fast in this drama then move along as slow as molasses. i enjoyed how everyone grew in their practice as providers of healthcare. this system was insanely corrupted and there were so many moments i was furious.  i love how different the medical field is portrayed on television. i truly enjoy yelling at the screen when things aren’t how they are meant to be practiced. (side note: the whole episode where they didn’t know if it was an airborne virus yet they pulled out those surgical masks, i’m like fam we need some N95 masks up in here.) but ya know, when you start a medical drama you just come to expect some inconsistencies from the drama to real-life practice. but i loved this attempt. and i love all the characters we got to meet. their romantic relationship was certainly cute and i loved them, and how he looked up to her. let's give it an 8 out of 10. 

mr. sunshine. i am still recovering from this stellar drama. it shall have its own post because the amount of damage it has done to my life is substantial and cannot be contained in a simple rewind. this is me trying not to cry just thinking about this tragedy. i rate it a 10 out of 10, so look forward to that review.

rewatch: something in the rain. this a great drama once again, i like listening to this one in the background and joining in to watch various scenes that i want to again and again. the voices of the characters are soothing and i just love the laughter that is present in the beginning of the drama and their relationship. just a friendly reminder to watch this drama because it is insanely good and everyone should watch it. [p.s. it already has a post (right here) because it is that good!]

who is your bias: From which group, I have like 20 lol Y’all know I’m double biased so we’ll do Taegi (V and Suga)

what made you notice them: For Suga, I was watching one of their old shows, I think Rookie King, and I remember always laughing at his sarcastic/savage comments. Plus his reaction to the crying girl in the elevator was priceless. First reaction: immediately engages in a button pressing competition with her. I had also been seeing lots of gifs of him and I just found myself falling for him. 

As for Tae, I had no choice but to acknowledge him when the Blood, Sweat, and Tears mv was released. He made sure that I saw him in all his sexy glory! That lip bite, that smirk…good stuff

what’s your favorite thing about them: I’ll start with Tae. I guess his carefree, confident nature, boy who has the ability to see beauty in everything, his passion for all the things he enjoys. The fact that he calls pimples his friends is just incredible, he has his own unique style and will wear whatever he wants so long as it makes him happy, and now he’s designing his own clothes. Boy loves abstract and unique art, he’s always taking pictures, trying/experiencing new things with such positivity. Also he is a true OT7 stan, there is no BTS without all seven members and he’s constantly saying to love and support them all! 

Now Yoongi, I can’t not say anything about his passion for music. He is such a hard worker who is always writing, composing, into the late hours of the night and I admire his work ethic. He’s also come so far in that he’s opened up and shared so many personal things about himself (Hello, AGUST D mixtape) and showing that vulnerability is not easy which makes him a truly inspiring person. He also loves Bangtan with all his soul which yes, you could say that about all the members, but even if we don't always see it you know he’s constantly looking out for them whether it’s by fixing things around the house, buying snacks for them, or watching the boys introduce themselves/give their speeches. 

who would initiate skinship more: I think we all know this one, but it’d be Tae. This boy ain’t afraid to wrap his arms around you or cuddle you at any given moment. Of course, Yoongi does like to hold hands so he’d probably do it in the privacy of home. 

who would hog blankets more: I’m not sure actually. I feel like Tae would, but Yoongi’s also a possibility. I would hog the blankets in the beginning but then I tend to get hot in the middle of the night. 

who would be more clingy: Taehyung of course. Again, he’s such a cuddle bug. Although there are some days where I’m just really clingy for no reason. 

who would say “i love you” first: Probably me. Once I’m super close with someone I typically start saying it quite often. 

who would be more easily flustered: More than likely me and Suga. I may be clingy at times, but if someone reciprocates it or does something snuggly out of nowhere it throws me off >.< Not that I don’t approve, in fact I am very appreciative of skinship. Also have you seen Suga when people compliment him? Such a shy cutie~

what cuddling position would you have: I would love to be Tae’s pillow! I gladly and willingly volunteer as tribute~ Seriously, we could face each other or spoon, he could snuggle into my chest or vice versa I don’t care just let me cuddle! 

With Yoongi, I just wanna wrap my arms and legs around him honestly. I’d probably engulf him, especially since he sleeps all curled up nice and soft uwu Also if I could like hold his hand/arm something like that, that would be great~

which colors remind you of them and why: For Tae, purple obviously! 💜 Some reason I think of red ❤️ for Suga because he has such a warm and soothing personality. Plus I think it also has something to do with a certain red outfit *cough* Seesaw performance *cough*

which season would you like to spend with them: Spring/summer for Tae because he’d probably want to go out and explore a lot so I need it to be warm, sunny weather to navigate. Fall/winter with Suga because we’d be cuddling and be nice and warm and toasty with coffee and blankets.

who would bake the cookies and who would steal the batter: I would attempt to bake cookies (we’ll see how they actually turn out) but I feel like all of us have the potential to taste test the batter. Or I’ll just buy the pre-made cookie dough and stick ‘em in the oven.

which one of you would make bad puns and how would the other react: I would be making the bad puns (of course) and Tae would probably laugh while Yoongi would either roll his eyes with such an offended look on his face or he might actually enjoy it. He’s been making a few puns here and there (I think Jin’s been rubbing off on him lol)

who would want to adopt 50 dogs and cats: Tae would but I’d been the one to set the limit because goodness gracious we are not taking care of 100 animals.

all right, we’re back to daily soft hours with anki! today, i started compiling a spotify playlist of songs that remind me of hyunjin; it wasn’t like my other playlists, into which i saved any song that i liked enough. i thought over each song carefully, thinking about how and why it reminded me of him, and after i’d weighed it enough, i added it to the playlist (if you’re curious, the playlist is also the same one in the music player on my tumblr ― in desktop mode, since wikplayer doesn’t work on mobile). so i’m going to be talking, today, about some of the songs i chose and why i chose them (i.e., why they remind me of hyunjin). i have all of stray kids’s songs in this playlist, but since i gush over those all the time, i’m going to talk about some of the other ones.

the first song in the playlist is wish that you were here by florence + the machine, an ost from miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children; i chose this song because of its theme of reaching out for someone you love that’s too far away from you and hoping that they know you miss them and wish they were there with you. a lot of times, when i do things i know hyunjin enjoys or would enjoy, i feel a wistful tug and wish he was here to enjoy the said thing with me.

the second, and one of my personal favorites, is 너의 의미 (neoui uimi / meaning of you) by iu, featuring kim chang-wan. it’s a simple, sweet song talking about how someone loves their loved one’s smiles and laughs and all the sweet, cherishable moments they share. i love hyunjin’s smile, his laughs, his mischief, his talent, and all the moments he and i have made together, from the time that i first struggled to tell him, minho, and seungmin apart to my current state of crying over a picture of him smiling, his dimples prominent and his hair windswept, and waving at the fans. the meaning of hyunjin, to me, is serenity and serendipity.

another song in my playlist is don’t wanna cry by seventeen, because i came across a ten-second video clip on youtube of hyunjin singing the main line of this song (울고 싶지 않아 / ulgo sipji anha), and since i’d never heard him really sing before, i was in awe. his voice wasn’t smooth or polished, but it was natural and sweet, and i would have loved to hear him sing more. i hope he sings in at least one track in the future, it’ll be so memorable for me. he’s already such a talented rapper and dancer, and if this much potential was visible in just ten seconds of his singing, imagine how amazing at least a full minute of his vocals would sound! i’m thriving for this concept; i sincerely hope it happens.

yet another song i added to this playlist is airplane pt. 2 by bts, because it’s about someone who lived and breathed his dream of being a singer and finally reached the stage, achieving international fame. that’s exactly what happened with stray kids; they hit that debut stage and debut mv with all their fire, and they completely burned it down with how amazing of a performance they gave. airplane pt. 2 was already my favorite song in the love yourself 轉 ‘tear’ album, and when i looked at the lyrics, it started reminding me of hyunjin.

another song that i feel merits a mention on this list is 고맙다 (thanks) by seventeen, because it says what i want to say most to hyunjin: 고맙다 / geomabda (thank you). i want to thank him for becoming the light of my life, the reason i have sweet dreams every night and the reason i wake up with a smile every morning. i want to thank him for being my anchor when i’m drowning in a flood of emotions, for being my oasis in the desert.

the next song i’m going to talk about is trauma by seventeen; starting last year, my emotional state took a horrible downturn, and i hit a real slump. my grades fell, i lost motivation in everything, i distanced myself from my friends, i distrusted my family, seeing ulterior motives in everything they did ― in short, it was horrible. i took a depression screening in and out of school, testing positive, and was diagnosed with mild depression. adding to that, when i began therapy last december, i was diagnosed with anxiety. between both my depression and anxiety, things have become a struggle lately, with me experiencing long bouts of not knowing what i’m working for or towards before painstakingly pulling myself through the day. hyunjin has kind of become an anchor for me; if i find a panic attack coming, i listen to a softer stray kids song and picture hyunjin’s smile in my mind, using it to channel positivity and calm myself. yeah, i’ve had my share of pain, and my trauma got me feeling sick, but hyunjin helped me turn that around and begin finding myself again.

the second to last song on this list is 중독 (overdose) by exo, because i’ve seen pictures from fansigns of hyunjin dressed up like a doctor, with the white lab coat and the stethoscope, a bright grin on his face; every time i see those pictures, i always post things in group chats with my friends along the lines of “*exo voice* someone call the doctor!”, and that just makes me think of him every time i hear this song.

the last song is as if it’s your last (마지막처럼) by blackpink, which reminds me of hyunjin because the rest of stray kids was there cheering on chan, jisung, and woojin in the jyp vs. yg episode where those three covered this song, and i saw him laughing and cheering with all the others as the trio worked their magic; the song has all the lighthearted qualities of his antics, too, which makes its tone suitable to my happy, carefree love for him.

i love hyunjin so, so much, and it warms my heart to the core to be able to have memories of him tucked into each song like pressed flowers between the pages of a book.
