“When I watch this film, it definitely makes me feel really proud. At times, I’ve been swimming against the tide, or life has been a little bit difficult or challenging. As a whole, that gives me a lot of hope for the future, definitely.

Yeah, everyone’s always really supportive, you know, we’re all really, really busy. That’s why I wasn’t sure if any of them would be able to make it, to be honest. The fact that Liam has turned out means the world. But yeah, everyone’s supportive for everything we do.

For a long time, it felt like I had a lot to prove. I feel like I’ve kind of got over that idea in my head now. For me, it’s just about— it’s super cliché— but it’s just about being the best artist I can be for my fans, ‘cause they’re the reason I can put on stuff like this. So yeah, just to be the best artist I can be, I suppose.”

I am Viviana Almas, a Lithuanian-American photographer, filmmaker, and sculptor currently based in Londonl. My work explores the fluid boundaries between reality and perception, particularly within the context of 20th and 21st-century art. I approach objects through a performative lens, investigating how they intersect with concepts of memory, time, and belief, challenging conventional understandings of the world around us.

My work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Anthology Film Archives in New York, The Blunk Space in San Francisco, and the Girulių Biblioteka in Lithuania. I have received the Canada International Film Festival Award and have been nominated in competitions such as the Nida Off Photography Competition and the Unthinkable Film Festival.

In my practice, I use found objects and materials in performance to evoke past memories and explore broader existential themes. I aim to offer fresh perspectives on individual surroundings, examining the interconnectedness of time, reality, memory, and faith. This ongoing exploration is central to my current project, Three Associations, which I am excited to propose for further development during the Svalbard residency.
